Mac Book Pro; Migration Assistant, Finder Windows have ? Mark Next to Search
I just bought a Mac Book Pro this weekend. I used Migration assistant and transferred everything from my Mac Book (intel core duo running Lion 10.7.3) to the Pro. I upgraded the Mac Book to Lion via the App Store prior to getting the Mac Book Pro. Had some problems migrating, but everything transferred (finally). Now I see a ? mark in all my finder windows adjacent. When I click on the question mark it says "The item cannot be found."
Applications (except those that are not supported in Lion) appear to be working fine, as well as any document files I transferred.
I repaired permissions, but the problem remains.
It is more of a "preception concern" then a real problem. I just would like to see it disappear because it is disconcerting.

I had the same problem, I solved it by turning off the firewall on both the PC and my MacBook Pro. It worked immediately after that. Hope that solves your problem too.

"OS X Mavericks The Missing Manual" which covers OS X 10.9.1 first edition was dec 2013 so recent book 850 plus pages of info and pictures very easy read and the views make it simple to follow.
Me I like technical info but this book is for everyone with sections on just about every topic the OS has.
I do believe I paid like $35 (US) but well worth it as I hadn't touched an Apple since 1988 with truly floppy discs we used to punch nothces in.
Author is a N. Y. Times writer who wrote many a "Missing Manual" as I can't remember the last time anything came with a manual. I had a $4600. windows machine built by Puget Systems and others over the years from Falcon Northwest.... none came with manuals other than similar to Apples quick info foldout.

The force quit window appears when you:
a) type the key combination <CMD> + <OPT> + <ESC>
b) you select the menu item " > Force Quit..." -
So I have a Mac Book Pro with a bootcamp Windows 8. I dual monitor on the Mac side with my Mid 2011 iMac through my mini display port via thunder bolt cable. In my perfect world, I would be able to switch to the Windows side and have the iMac mirror or extend my windows display for my gaming pleasure, etc. I'm not sure if it's just a simple driver or that it cannot be done. How do I connect my Mac Book Pro to a projector I have the adapter but cant get anything on the screen
Go to your "screen settings". then chose "find screen" then you vill find the prosjector.
this will probably fix your problem.
if this dont works can it be something wrong with your adapter.

You needed to have Find my Phone set up and activated/on (which is in iCloud).
PS: Since your profile shows you're running iOS - which iDevice do you have? Iphone, iPad, or ? Do you have it set up there? (iOS is the OS for iDevices; your MBP would be on Mac OS). -

I went by the Apple Store and they told me that there was a "Flat Rate" repair service for this particular part where they would replace the logic board along with the USB ports for $350. Seems like best avenue. All of this would have been moot but my wifi in the computer also doesn't work so I was using my phone as a hot spot and tethering it to the computer for Internet access when the last port quit. This left me with no internet and no printing capabilities on the computer I use for my business. Basically became a nice paperweight. lol
They will ship it off Monday and I should have it back Thursday!

My Mac book pro screen has a constant white mark on it, i have no idea why, its like its inside the screen, its never been dropped or had anything fall on it and the mark is starting to get bigger. Has anyone else had the same problem? i've inserted a pic of it, hopefully you can make it out.
Thank YouI see a multitude of white marks on your display. Your best option is to make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians examine the MBP. Hardware problems such as this cannot be solved via these forums.

How good is Maverick, Can I upgrade from Mountain Lion 10.8.2 to Mavericks. The local service center did not bother to verify the warranty and told me to pay 2000 rupees. I thought the warranty to be worldwide, apparently not, any suggestions.
If I have no warranty I would still want a DVD of Mountain Lion since I can do the install myself and do not need to pay 2000 for installation. There is no data to backup. I would really appreciate any help here.
RegardsYou can go to the Apple online store and purcahse a copy of Mountain Lion. This will give you a redemption code, which you can use to download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Unfortuantely, I'm not aware of any other way to legally purchase it. I have never seen Apple release Muontain Lion on DVD.
In terms of Apple Service, they just need the serial number of the machine to check the purcahse date. It is usually correct, to within a few weeks. A quick Google search should give you the correct number to dial.

My Mac book pro is behaving strangely. I am not able to enter the Password and can't open any application/folder. To log-in I have to give forced shutdown. When ever I try to open any application the screen turns grey (some times) and the window pop up " --------- quit unexpectedly".
I updated the OS too from the available updates but the problem persists. I have reasonable amont of data in it, which definitely I do not want to loose.

In that case I will recommend that you consult a local technician/IT team and see if there is some network connectivity issue with your machine.
