Mac book pro new battery problem

Hi, I have got a question regarding a battery life.
I bought my Mcbook pro 13' over three years ago, and it has been working really well until recently. The laptop was running on the original battery all the time, and only recently it has 'flashed' the replace battery icon, after over 600 charges.
I went to apple store and replaced the battery and the charger, as the charger broke at pretty much the same time. Within the month of using the new battery, with cycle charge count of less than 30, the 'replace battery icon' pops up again. I went back to the apple store, and since the battery was less than a month old they have replaced it with a new one free of charge.
Today is my 2nd day on the new battery, it's the third time I am charging it and it's flashing 'replace battery!" I don't know what's wrong! How could a battery break in less than 3 day, where it has not been heavily used at all????
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?
I will try to go back to the store again this week, but it's ridiculous.
I really appreciate any suggestion on what's going on.

Tell them to check out the MagSafe charging circuit, and ports, as well as the cables connecting it all together.
Say you want a FULL diagnostic, as there is something wrong going on here,(possibly something on the logic board, which has just about all the components on it, they don't work at component level, they just change out whole parts"chunks") be polite but firm, and if you do not get a satisfactory answer from the first tech, ask to "escalate" it to the manager.
Best of luck

    Macbook pro battery problems?
i called apple because my macbook is supposed to last 7 hours but it last only 3 and it tends to get hot, they told me a virus is affecting the battery performance is this really possible or r they just masking crap up so i can buy their tech support plan and even if a virus is an issue cant i just reintall osx again and start fresh woudnt that just delete the virus instead of buying their software virus deleter thing?
1st it should last till 7 hours if you dont do anything intense wich i dont, i only use it for low intensity programs
2nd i keep my brightness low

i noticed it 2 moths ago and apple remotely accessed my maxbook and said they found virus related issues affecting my software wich made my macbook work harder wich made it hot , thus draining the battery quicker
anyways im wondering it a virus is an issue is there any other way i can fix it like reintalling a frwesh copy of osx

  • Mac Book Pro New Hard drive problems

I have a Mac Book Pro 13 inch that has a failed hard drive so I purchased a new Seagate 500gb SATA solid state hard drive that states it will work for a MB PRO. When I try to create a new  1 partition as Mac OS Extended Journaled I get a "Partiton Failed with the error: File system formatter failed". The drive shows up as read/write and Verified but unformatted. When I try to repair the disk I get a disk Utility can't repair this disk. What am I doing wrong any suggestions.

Check all connection to the drive. Boot the system from a boot disk of some kind that has Disk Utilities on it.
Erase the drive with DU. Then partition as one big partition using MBR (Master Boot record) in the options. Then format it as FAT32. If that works then go back into DU and re-partition GUID Journaled.
If the first part of my suggestions above fail then I'd say you have either a bad drive, doubtful but possible, or there is something wrong with your MBP and that is why the first/original drive couldn't be read anymore.

  • Mac Book Pro Service Battery Options

    Hi, I have a Mac Book Pro 5,5 mid 2009 13'.
The battery status shows up as "service battery". Can anyone tell me what are my options and also if I don't do anything, what are the consequences.
    Here is my battery's info.
    Thanks,

    Hi Macs for the Win,
If you are seeing a "Service Battery" status on your MacBook Pro, you may find the information outlined in the following article helpful:
Service Battery: The battery isn’t functioning normally, and you may or may not notice a change in its behavior or the amount of charge it holds. Take your computer in for service. You can continue to use your battery before it’s checked without harming your computer.

  • Spilled liquid on top of mac book pro; usb/wifi problems.

So yesterday evening I spilled hot chocolate on the top of my mac book pro while it was sitting on my desk closed. I picked it up, unplugged everything from it and grabbed a towel so that I could try it off. I got most of it off and nothing got into the keyboard area underneath. But I did see some of it get into the side ports and mainly the first usb port. I just realized that now when I plug something into that usb port, the wifi and usb don't work! The second one is reliable and works fine, it charges and plays audio. That is basically all I use it for. But now I am limited to just one usb port, it could be alot worse. It is an annoyance though, especially since I bought this laptop literally a year ago. From what I understand Apple will only guarantee their product for one year and won't honor most customer accidents. So with an expired warranty by just days, I am left with a perfectly working computer -1 usb port. I know getting frustrurated wont solve anything and I've spent the last hour figuring out why the internet and mouse weren't working.
What are my options? Anyone else have this kind of problem? Is there something I can do to fix my computer?

Take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you. Liquid damage is not covered under Apple's standard 1 year warranty or Apple Care.
NOTE:  If you are out of warranty and purchased the computer with a credit card, discuss the warranty issue with the credit card company which you purchased the computer with.  They are the only ones who can at this point cover the computer after it goes out of warranty with the manufacturer (Apple).

  • Mac Book Pro Dvd Drive Problems

I am having  trouble with my mac book pro's dvd drive. It's not working properly, can I just take it into the Apple store and seek help?

you can, but you need to make an appointment with the genius bar first.

  • Why can't I airplay mirror my Mac Book Pro (new) with my TV when I play a DVD on my Mac Book?

I can see the screen from my Mac Book Pro but the DVD movie only displays as a check board on my TV. If I choose to look at my Mac Book only it works fine. BR hp

I'm not certain but I think Airplay is a non-secure protocol.
So if someone wrote a program to intercept Airplay they could potentially make a copy of that encrypted DVD you are trying to Airplay, albeit with compression and other compromises.

  • Late 2008 Macbook Pro new battery problems

I bought a new battery off of ebay and when I put the battery in the computer the status bar said the battery was at 54% so I completely drained the battery until it would not power on then plugged it in until it was at 100% and continued to charge it for two more hours. So shouldn't it be calibrated by now? I drained it completely again today and now I'm charging it but the status bar says its at 74% but the system settings says its at 94%. I only get about an hour or two off of it is this normal? Is there anything I cant do to improve the battery life? This is the first mac I have ever owned so explain things like I'm five!

You're missing my point. I know that watching movies is more intensive than web browsing and maybe the problem is to do with VLC.
When I watch a movie through quick time I still have an estimated 6h26m remaining with 65% battery left. In comparison when I watch a movie on VLC it showed around 3h left with the same amount of battery left.
Also, I'm not sure if this is to do with VLC or if it was a coincidence, but my CPU was at around 30% (system) and the temperature doubled.

  • Bulging 17 inch Mac Book Pro Rechargeable Battery A1189 10.8V 68WH

    Good Day;
My battery has been swelling up over the past 2 weeks, and the apple store I visited don't take it or advise.
I don't have a receipt because I bought the system used and the owner told me it has a new battery (just over a year old now), so not the original system battery, but a replacement one. I cant check cycles as the battery started getting bigger it doesnt fit in the slot. But it was working very well, so its more a physical issue.
Is there a way to check the battery age - serial number 6N8521X5Z9DA.
    Could you please advise?
    Thanks in advance

... I figure apple's database can pick this up in their Authorised Dealer - repair centre.
Apple may have some way of determining that. If they do, it's not public knowledge. Just be sure to take your MacBook Pro and its power adapter, and the battery for evaluation. Everything has to be considered as a whole, and you don't want to have to be faced with this situation again in another year.
It's anyone's guess what its previous owner did, if anything, that may have affected the battery's longevity. Prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures could explain it, or it may have been a manufacturing defect, or it may simply have been something beyond anyone's control.
Try to find an Apple Store or an Apple Authorised Service Center with a good reputation. Some are excellent, some are less so.
