Mac book pro screensaver comes on even with option off, how do I stop it

I have the screensaver set to never come on, batter or plugged in, but it still comes on.  Is there a way to make sure it doesn't?

I've already gone through the steps are disabling the screensaver, for both battery power and ac power and still the screensaver comes on.
Still need help; trying to transfer files to dropbox and the screensaver keeps stopping the sync.  Thanks!

Make sure the pins are correct for it. There is DVI-D as well so you need to double check that you are purchasing the correct one.

Look at the Apple menu's, "About This Mac," and then press "More Info" button, to identify your Mac model beyond just, "MacBook Pro."

hi Mmm ive been told that installing linux on mac book pro retina 15 and even others and using it as my first sofware will make the mac heaqt up and burn from inside!!!!! true??????????

    Hi shldr2thewheel,
it has been a while since we have last spoke, I would like to let you know, I am still working on getting used to the switch from windows to a Mac/Apple system. I do have a new question for you, I did purchase In Design CS5.5 through journeyed.com through Cuyahoga Community College of which I attend as a student, is there a way to purchase an online book through iTunes to learn that as well? Also, you know me, the struggling student, I would also, when and if the book can be purchased through the iTunes, would need to know if you do know of a much easier book for struggling students like myself and at a reasonable price as well for the In Design CS5.5 program. Our campus bookstore had closed early, and, so did the colleges library and our local library here where I do live, so, I cannot go to either place to purchase a book or to take out a book, plus cash funds are low at this moment as well but, I do have money left on the iTunes account to use, if it can be used. So, can it be used, the iTunes money, towards finding a low priced online book? I am in great need of assistance as I have a project due for my one course for this Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Sincerely in need of help once again,
    Kim

Restore from the backup you had prior to installing Mavericks.
However, the upgrade should not have altered your partition scheme. Did your erase and format the drive prior to upgrading?

  • Mac Book Pro 13 inch Graphics Issue with Yosemite

    I have a major graphics issue with my Mac Book Pro mid 2010 after upgrading to Yosemite. I have a 2.66ghz with 8gb memory and 320M 256 MB NVIDIA graphics card. Since upgrading to Yosemite (after a clean install) I have had the following issue that are driving me crazy;
When I use more than one program my screen displays large blocks of unrecognisable fuzziness. I have two screen working off my Mac Book Pro, one is the Apple 27 inch theatre screen.
My system works slow despite have ample free memory available on my disk (over 150gb)
    It is becoming an increasing concern as this issue builds up over the day to the point where I need to reboot to fix, however as soon as I use Photoshop the system almost grinds to a halt. Other issues that are bearable but ned addressing include;
Keyboard often does not work on startup and requires you to pull out the keyboard and reconnect (intermittent).
Lost email when sent (intermittent). I had hoped that this would be fixed in this updated release.
    Laggy behaviour in general.
I am hoping someone has an idea to fix these issues or are also sharing my frustration. Can someone suggest  fix as this is not a workable situation for Mac book Pro users and 2010 is not that of an old computer. Apple???

So you erased your drive and installed  10.10 and then 10.10.1 and everything else was t hrough Setup Assistant, through reinstalls, or through TimeMachine restore?
A four-year old laptop may be at the point where that small older gpu and processors have more trouble.
you might want to hold off and go back to Mavericks or whatever you had - hopefully you cloned that system before doing clean install, upgrade to 16GB, maybe throw in an SSD... or save and get the next MacBook Pro to come out.
And you checked your apps at http://www.roaringapps.com for compatibility.
Might help just to see what if anything shows up in output from Etrecheck.
Probably thought this was laptop MacBook Pro, it is not, probably best moved to Yosemite forum.

  • How to get my mac book pro to associate my ID with it?

    Hi,
I'm going to try this one more time. I live too far from the Apple store, so I need to do this at home if possible.
I bought a used Mac Book Pro where I work at a Pawn Shop.  Of course, the OS was already installed and
when I tried to clear it out, it installed Maveric OS / or upgraded it using the old users Apple ID. I didn't understand
this process at the time coming from the PC world, I thought since I bought it legally, it was mine.
So, I tried to download the upgrades, and it asked for the Apple ID, which I did not have an ID that
was associated with this MacBookPro and it's OS. There for, I was not able to use my Apple ID that
I signed up for and received.
So, I wrote on here about my problem and was advised that I had pirated software and that I needed to
go back online and re-install using the Internet or Recover using the Internet Method. So, today I tried
and I was able to connect, and enter my Apple ID, but I recevied the message that I didn't have an OS
associated with my ID which is correct.
So, I'm in a pickle. I looked at the "About this Mac" and although it has good hareware, there is no serial number
as it seems the board might have been upgraded at one time.  So, I can't tell what version of the OS was on this
machine originally and I"m not sure it would help anyway.  But, I'd be willing to buy the original version of the OS
and use my Apple ID online to do so if it would help me with this Mac Book Pro?
I'm thinking I could go to the Apple Store online and get a previous version of the OS such as Moutain Lion
which I think sells for 19.95 and in return they send me within one day a code or something to redeem the same.
I'm wanting to know if I do this and I use my current Apple ID, would I THEN BE ABLE TO USE the internet
recovery method and erase the hard drive and start over with the bought versioni of the OS such as Mountain Lion
and then upgrade from there to OS X Maverick and get my upgrades from then on?
If this doesn't work, then I can only take it to the Apple Store I guess and see if they can help, but I'd like to avoid
that solution at all costs if possible just because I'm so busy and live so far away from a Store. I'm in a very small
town in Southern Indiana and there is no close Apple Store.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.
    Regards
    Tim

If you can still access the machine and haven't wiped the drive, open the Mac App Store, log in to your Apple ID, and try to download Mavericks from there. If it works, make a bootable USB from the
Mavericks installer (google how to do this). Then boot to the USB wipe the drive and install Mavericks clean. And since it shoudl be associated with your Apple ID at that point you shouldn't have any issues.

  • Mac Book Pro won't sync iCal with iCloud

    Hi
I'm running a Mac Book Pro (10.7.1) an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4. Both of the latter devices have been updated to IOS 5.
I'm a long standing MobileMe customer and I've been switching to iCloud today.
Generally things have gone smoothly. iCal was transferred from MbMe to iCloud without a hitch. Both the iPad and the iPhone were easy enough to switch across. And having done some tests now whenever the iCloud calendar  is updated it appears on the portables and vica-versa.
However - iCal on the MBP isn't happy.
When I open it a pop-up appears saying "iCal can't log in to your "*****@me.com" account because your password may be incorrect". There's a button that then invites me to go to "MobileMe prefs" to address the issue. I do this. And several times I've signed out and signed back in using the correct user name and password.
The Account Status says " Your MobileMe account has been upgraded to iCloud". So, it seems that the password isn't an issue. However, iCal keeps telling me it is.
(Also, have just tried creating a new address on the MBP and another on the iPad - iCloud instantly reflected the latter but not the former. ie. it seems that the MBP isn't syncing to the cloud at all).
    Any help/suggestions gratefully received.
(also, for your ref. I run Little Snitch - but I'm pretty sure it's not blocking anything)
    Thanks
    Ewan

Little Snitch...  that is most likely the problem.
