Mac Book Pro Start Up

Ok i've been looking everywhere and cant find anything that works.
My 15" Mac Book Pro Wont start up right not sure whats happening.
My Mac:
2009 15" Macbook Pro
3.06Ghz intel core
two Nvidia graphics cards
500GB@7200 HDD
4GB Ram
so here goes the problem. Today when i got home went to start my mac up. it seems to start fine, click on the power button it makes that normal mac Start up sound, and i can also here the drive and all the hardware starting up. Then the white screen with the Apple logo Appears and seems to be going normal. but then instead of going blue like i normaly see. it goes black and everything shuts off. ive tryed a bunch of start up options and diffrent things tryed to go into safe mode and what not and nothing works.
Anyone can help me please say.

Try resetting your SMC and PRAM.
Resetting the System Management Controller >>
If that does not work, boot from your install DVD and reinstall your system.
If the unit shuts off when booted from the DVD, then you have a hardware issue that will need to be serviced.

  • On Mac Book Pro start button does not turn it on.

    On Mac Book Pro start button does not turn it on.
    After some attempts of pressing it finally it turns on.
    (Meantime keayboard can be highlighted,but screen is black and I hear noise of shutting down it when I press it).
    What can be the cause of this problem? Actually MacBook is new,only 9 months.
    Please give me some suggestion what should I do.

    It will be complicated to take it to the Apple store as in Georgia (Caucasus)there is not official Apple stores and in addition Mac Book was purchased in UK. I have red some staff here about start button pressing hard for turning it on, I have feeling that now it needs to be pressed hard to turn on. If it would be from the beginning I might think that it's normal,may be,for Mac Book,but initially it needed to be slightly pressed.
    Thank you for suggestion.

  • Mac Book pro start up page then turns off

    My Mac book pro goes to the start page and shows the apple logo it will stay on it for about 30 seconds with a loading bar at the bottom and then it turns off. I try to restart it but it just does the same thing over again. Is there anything I can do to get it going again?

    If you followed the article then that means you've completed an Erase and Install of your computer (one of the final steps).  If the symptom persists after an erase (without restoring from a backup), then the issue is harware in nature and you'll want to get it in for diagnosis:
    "If the issue persists after you follow the above steps, you may wish to make an appointment with a Mac Genius at an Apple store, contact AppleCare via phone, or contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider for assistance."

  • Mac Book Pro start up, Mac Book Pro start up

    My Mac Book pro is taking very long ot start up sometimes getting to home but then not loading anything else. it is a late 2011 model with Mavericks and about 4 years old now. i cant enter safe boot for some reason which is very annoying but cant reset PRAM. any thoughts on how to get it to work? it wont boot up after a crash the second time this week, which is the only time iv ever crashed. the other time it just shut down due to a kernel error. any thoughts on how to fix this problem? thank you very much for your time.

  • Mac book pro start up noise no screen purchased late 2013

    hey soo ,y yr old Mac book pro 15 retina late 2013 model I saw a post from support saying they r having issues with the sleep mode n not waking up.. Soo  I remember this happening n then I wiped the Mac with a cloth went over the keys n it shut off n did not come back on... Now I reset the pram bla bla went through all the trouble shooting stuff it makes start up noise now then nothing...

    You may try to restart your computer in Safe mode by taking these steps:
    - Click on the Apple sign() at the upper left corner of the Desktop, select 'Shut down' from a drop-down menu;
    - Wait until your computer turns off, then press the Power button(⌽);
    - Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift(⇧) key. It should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone;
    - Release the Shift(⇧) key when you see a grey Apple sign() and the progress bar below;
    This will force the system to perform several maintenance routines and load essential system software.
    Once you've seen the Desktop, start a Disk Utility scan to detect and repair file system errors:
    - Open Disk Utility application:
    1. Click on Finder at the bottom of your Desktop;
    2. Select Applications folder from Finder's left sidebar and then open Utilities folder (or press Command(⌘)-Shift(⇧)-U), double-click on Disk Utility icon;
    - Choose your main hard drive from the left sidebar ('Macintosh HD', usually);
    - Click on 'Verify Disc' at the bottom right corner, your Mac will perform a diagnostic test. Click on 'Repair Disk' if prompted to fix problems, or follow instructions given on the Disk Utility window;
    - Once the routine finished, click on ""Verify Disc Permissions"", after it's done, click on 'Repair Disc Permissions';
    - Wait until the process's finished and shut down your Mac, turn it back on in 30 seconds;

  • Mac Book Pro Start up message blocks me

    Was on facebook recently and after my Mac Book Pro froze up and I tried to restart and a thin grey veil came down and told me to restart my computer.
    A message in 4 languages. I tried to re start and problem persists. Cannot access my computer. Any ideas as to what this is?

    It's a kernel panic. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics.
    Are you able to boot the computer from an installer disc? Are you able to startup in Safe Mode?

  • Mac book pro start up disc is full

    my mac book pro came up with a box sayin   - your start up disc is full-  then went to a blue screen, I am unable to do anything at all - any suggestions ?

    OSX disks need space to work.  Some say 10-15% free, others lock the number at 30GB minimum (because disks vary in size).  I would stick to 30 GB if I were you.
    But ... immmediate problem ...
    Your system does not like to operate because you likely have about 500 MB free of several 10s or 100s of GBs.
    If this system is pre-Lion, you have install disks.  You can buy an external drive (make it self-powered, from the wall), and install OSX on that drive using the C key at boot to re-direct to the install disks in the optical drive.
    If you system is Lion ... I do not know Lion well enough to install "cold" on a blank disk.
    When that system is installed, your internal drive is now "just a disk" and the amount of free space means less.  You can start moving files from the internal drive to the external drive until you have enough free space for it to operate as an OSX system disk.
    There are other longer-term strategies you need to address, such as "do I need a bigger system disk?", but first get your system running.

  • My Mac Book Pro starts up with gray bars and instructs me to restart the sy

    I started having problems with my Mac Book Pro last night. It crashed, and instructed me to restart the computer. I've tried the following with the install CD inside the CD ROM Drive:
    1) Restarted it with the OPTION key pressed down
    2) Restarted it with the C key pressed down
    3) Restarted it with the D key pressed down
    The extensive Hard Drive test did not detect any problems. I cannot boot from the main HD or the Install CD. I cannot enter safe mode.
    On a regular boot up the computer starts up with gray bars and the gray bars fill the screen, the spinning gear appears and more gray bars on the screen. The screen then turns black and then I get the restart message.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Like BSteely, I am curious as to how you ran hard drive tests if you can't boot from the Installer disc? Do you have another bootable hard drive attached?
    You might want to try pulling and reseating the RAM and hard drive along with performing an SMC reset. Disconnect any external USB and FireWire devices. You're getting kernel panics during startup which usually indicate a hardware issue.

  • Mac Book Pro Start Up Question

    My 13 inch mac book pro that I purchased in 2010 has been working perfectly. However, today, my computer was having difficulties and I powered it down. Now, I can turn the computer on, but will be at the gray screen and eventually shut off. Is there anything I can do to make it work or do I need to go into the Apple Store to get this repaired? Thank you.

    Just follow the instructions on the link that Bimmer provided. If you have a model with a non-removablle battery:
    Shut down the computer.
    Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
    That's just the first step to take. If it doesn't work, call back...

  • HT1349 why does my mac book pro start up but contunitues to try to load

    can someone help with my mac book it starts up logo appeares then the busy signel conuines to try to load but nothing happens?

    Try starting your Mac in Safe Mode.
    Restart your Mac.
    Press and hold down the Shift key immediately after hearing the startup tone. Be sure NOT to press the Shift key before the tone.
    Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo and the spinning-gear appear.
    When the Login Window appears, log into your account.
    If you Mac starts up, then the issue may be a problem with one of the Startup items, Login items, or a 3rd-party kernal extension (if you got a kernal panic screen during startup.)
    If your Mac does not start up, use the Startup Manager to see if the startup disk is detected. Note: By default the startup disk is Macintosh HD.
    Try running the Apple Hardware Test. This test is included on the Installation CD that came with your Mac.

  • HELP!!! Mac Book Pro starts up then dies

    Hi,
    I have had my mac book pro for 2 yr now, worked great entire time. Until now, used it last night for a couple of hours uploading video, turned it off fine, came back to it an hour or so later to finish what I was doing. Press the power button, it lights up, the computer chimes, the screen lights up with the light blue screen, but then it stops, does nothing, and it turns off with just a second long hold on the power button. Any suggestions? I already tried all of the restarts recommeneded on apple support, and nothing changed.

    If you also did a forum search for your problem & none of the solutions worked, in that case, it's time to take your MBP to your local Apple Store or AASP. If you have AppleCare, call them first & let them deal w/it.
    Otherwise, please detail all the things you have done in the way of troubleshooting. This will eliminate the +"been there, done that"+ scenarios when the knowledgeable users here try to help you. Thank you.

  • Mac book pro start up disk

    hallo, i will be buying a mac book pro17 inch but i had a couple questions first...
    from what i understand about hard drives, my best option is the 160 gb with 7200 rpms.. i believe that faster is better than bigger in this case...and i should get an external drive to store other data and keep the start up disk as free as possible...is all this more or less correct?
    no mighty mouse comes with the laptop?
    the glossy and matte screen boils down to a matter or preferance?

  • Mac Book Pro starts up to white screen then makes a sound and dies, turning off

    Hello, my macbook pro is new, bought in August 2011. Just recently my battery died prematurely after only 118 cycles. However, the hard drive also had to be replaced as it wasn't for some reason working with the battery. Now, my computer even though the battery works and I've passed all my documents to the new hard drive is having problems when it starts up. It makes the typical apple sound when it turns on and it goes to the white apple screen and unexpectedly dies off (turns off). It makes a sound as if everything is starting off then a dying sound when it turns off. Sometimes I try it again and it turns off or it can also turn on randomly and fully boot. Holding the shift, control and alt key while it is connected to the battery until the charge changed color works but it is not a permanent solution as this problem has continued for a week. It occured a couple of days after replacing the hard drive and battery at the genius bar. Any help?

    It is better to take it back to the genius bar.
    Your MBP is under warranty and let them fix it for you.
    Nobody here can help you with hardware problems.
    Best.

  • My mac book pro start up disk is full how do I fix this ?

    My start up disk is full what do I do to fix this?

    Remove files.
    Get an external drive and off load the files you want to keep but archive. Then delete those files from your Mac. You should try to keep at least 15% free space on your hard drive least you will trash it. Without your being specific with more details that's as general as it gets.

  • Mac book pro start up, white screen pops up and it don't process any further! Can anyone help?

    When my laptop was updating the software it was stuck on installing the updates. I held the power button then turned the laptop back on! It makes the on sound but stay on the white screen! Can anyone help?

    Hey Antonioaok,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If you are getting the white screen when you start up, there are a few steps that can be done. The first one would be resetting your NVRAM
    About NVRAM and PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
    Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
    Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
    Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
    The next step, if it does not boot to your operating system would be to attempt to boot into safe mode. These steps are also based on the fact that your profile states you are running Snow Leopard.
    Mac OS X 10.6: Starting up in safe mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH6455
    To start up in safe mode:
    Shut down your computer and wait 10 seconds.
    Press the power button.
    Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key.
You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.
    Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator (spinning gear).
    To leave safe mode, restart the computer normally without holding down any keys during startup.
    If after that, you were still not able to get into your operating system, the last step would be trying to reinstall the operating system.
