Mac Book Pro uneven monitor illumination

Just to fill you in , I bought my Mac Book Pro 15" in 2006 not long after that my memory went bad (I think that's what it was kept restarting) it was under warranty and I was told to increase the memory so I did paid for the extra, the service center suggested that I get the maintenance agreement which I did.. I had a problem with the screens illumination it was uneven darker around the edges and down the middle.. it was slight... I am a photographer by the way.. I was told by the service people that it looked good to them.. so I thought it was me... not long ago there were spots on it I couldn't clean off.. took it in, was told it's under the screen, to Apple it went... they replace the screen But not without an argument, saying it was customer care.. Not! I treat my macbook Pro like gold... anyway the screen was the best I have seen it.. calibrated perfect in the beginning... now I'm seeing the uneven illumination again and it's not calibrating properly and the service center is giving me a hard time tell me the screen is only good for 90 days, maybe it has been just over that time ( mind you my maintenance agreement is good until aug 2009) also I told the service center that I calibrate my monitor every week he went off, thats way to much I was told.... What should I do? I'm taking it back. Did anyone else has the same issues that I am? Thanks for your time.

Nobody has or had a similar problem as I am? Any advice on what I should do? I thought that a mac book pro would last me a long time.. only 4 years and it seems as though I'm asking to much, what's the life expectancy of a Mac Book Pro for business use? The monitor may occasionally double as a TV or be pulled onto a shoot as a camera monitor, in which case, maybe the LCD TV is better. It also will be used as a full screen preview monitor for Aperture still photo editing.

Are you saying that if you want to use the TV to evaluate the broadcast quality of the video then the MBP does not have that capabilty?
Are you also saying that if you just want to display the video on the TV then you can use the HDMI output of the MBP?

is there a way to disable the mbp monitor while using an external display, but still use the mbp keyboard and trackpad?

well what ive done is connect mbp to an extra monitor and closed the mbp. before you do that set the keyboard function so that a bluetooth device can turn on the mbp.
i have the wireless keyboard so my mbp screen is always closed and when i hit my keyboard my external monitor 24' westinghouse comes off of sleep mode and turns on
then is all a matter of quick keys and key combos to learn like control + eject to turn off or sleep and i have a wireless mouse to so that helpful

I originally was going to buy a MiniDisplay Port to HDMI Adapter and a HDMI Splitter, but won't that show the exact same thing on both displays? Thanks.

Bump- I have the same issue. Screen slowly dims for no observable reason until I rearrange to point it more directly at light source. Odd thing is that the light in the room does not change. So scren will be fine for hours while I am working and at some point just slowly dim until I rearrange. Any information helpful.

I use it when I work with final cut pro, and this problem it's becoming huge and changing my workplans....
It can turns off also 10 times in two hours.
In many forums I read that the CPU temp could be the problem, but I've checked it and It's always around 62°-68°....
In some others they say that the new RAM could be the problem too.
Is anybody able to help me? (Underneath you can check the Panic Report and my mac informations)

I retract my previous "No." If you can live with limited performance (slow refresh/choppy action video/no gaming) on the second external monitor, you could use a USB video adapter and a DVI-HDMI adapter to connect it to a USB port on your computer.

Mac Book Pro fail to properly recognize Apple 23inch HD monitor

Hi
I have a brand new mac book pro, 2.4Ghz, 15 inch, 4 gb and so on... I just upgraded to leopard, and everything works fine except that when I try to hook up my external monitor which is an Apple 23 inch HD monitor, the external display flickers every second on and off. Even if I open the lid, both displays flicker on and off.
It goes on forever like this. I don't "think" it's a hardware problem because it worked with tiger and it works at work with a non Apple 22 inch display (that will teach me...).
So it seems to only happens with the Apple 23inch monitor.
Any idea how to troubleshoot that one ?

What is the best large monitor (24"or 27") to use with my 2011 Mac Book Pro?

Your MacBook Pros both feature ThunderBolt outputs.
Most Monitors (even those over 1920 wide) with a Mini DisplayPort or full-size DisplayPort will plug right in and work, or work with a cable that costs under US$10 and does no conversion. They pick up a subset of the ThunderBolt port's signals and use it directly.
DVI displays up to 1920 wide and HDMI displays up to 1920 by 1080p can be generated with a simple adapter.
Wide (over 1920 wide) DVI Monitors will require an expensive (about US$100) adapter that regenerates a Dual-Link (with data lines doubled) DVI signal, and also require additional power from a USB pigtail connected to USB or a 5V power source.
HDMI wider than 1920 wide is complex, expensive, and trouble-prone. Some TV sets can produce a picture, but it will not be as crisp, stable, or true-to-color as on a display sold as a Monitor.
Analog VGA displays are not going to produce the crisp picture required. An adapter is required, and very high resolutions are very difficult to obtain at all.
