Mac book pro will not switch from internal microfon, who can help, please?

Hi,
thinking with a new mac book pro I will finally enter the new millenium i was in for a bad surprise.
Apart from regular crashes (6 in the first day) with black screen and automatic reboot, without any chance to save in gb, I also had the following problem:
trying to set the sound to line in from internal microfon i do get the reading on the level meter, but no change in gb.
Anybody got any idea how to fix that?
thanks in advance

hookachaka,
about the input source: Did you switch it in the
System Prefs or in GB? (You have to switch in GB!)
Hi Christoph,
danke schoen, dass wars auch!
Even though that has fixed the input problem, i still cannot hear what goes in, while recording.
Going to system preferences in GB it only offers internal microphone or built in line in as audio out???
And the crasehs: A black screen and automatic
reboot sounds like a problem with the power supply,
like the power is interrupted and the Mac just
restarts. A crash normally looks different on a Mac.
Since you're not in the US, you should have a decent
warranty and you should take the MacBook back to the
dealer to check on this!
Regarding the crashing, power supply sounds somehow likely since it really cuts out , out of nowhere. Battery is full and power supply connected, so that might indicate a loose power connect inside?
Having bought it over an import company in Sydney I am not sure about the warranty arrangement.

  • Mac Book Pro will not start on Battery Power

Mac Book Pro will not start on Battery Power although battery at 98% need to connect charger. When started date and time incorrect, comes up as 1st Jan 2012.

What is the exact model of your MBP?  The date change often is an indication of power loss to the MBP, such as disconnecting the battery.
If the SMC reset does not solve the situation, post this from your MBP:
Make certain that the power adapter is connected.
    Ciao.

I have OS 10.8.2 and use wireless at home just fine.
When I visit a friend with only a cable modem internet my Mac Book Pro will not connect.
I see that the Mac Book Pro is picking up the internet when I check the internet preference section but it will not open Safari.
What do I need to do connect via a cable modem?

You need to power off the modem for 15-30 seconds, then power back up and then connect. The modem is remembering the last connection (your friend).

  • My Mac Book Pro will not power on

My Mac Book Pro will not (boot-up) power on.
    What should I do?

Do you have the power adapter connected?  Does it display a light, amber or green?
Have you checked the battery charge level by pressing the exterior battery level button?
    Try a SMC reset:

You could try doing a hard shut down (holding the power button or yanking the battery) and then doing a safe boot by holding the shift key at startup:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
Also, not sure if this applies in your case, but I've had that happen when there's a USB drive inserted either in the computer or a connected external keyboard.  I did a hard shut down, removed the drive and it went through a normal start up.

  • 17 inch MAC book pro will not boot up

My 17 inch MAC Book Pro will not power/boot up.  The battery is charged and it displays a green light on the power adapter.  However, it will not boot up.

    Reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If it doesn't work, probably there's a logic board problem, so it's possible that you need a new logic board. Take your computer to an Apple Store or reseller

  • My new mac book pro will not save any bookmarks I make in safari. Why is it doing this? I would really like to use my bookmarks.

MY new Mac book pro will not save any of teh bookmarks I make in safari. If I make a bookmark, it will not appear until I close safari and reopen it. Then, if I shut my computer down and reopen safari, all of the bookmarks are gone. This has happend multiple times and I don't know what is going on. I would really like to use my bookmarks.

    Delete the
    com.apple.safari.plist
reboot and start Safari, reset your preferences, instructions are here

  • Downloaded and installed os x yosemite and now mac book pro will not restart? How long should this take? Is there something wrong? Please helpthanks in advance

MAc book pro. I have downloaded and installed os x yosemite now mac book pro will not start? How long should it take? Is there something wrong?

The 2 computers here took about 45 minutes to an hour each.
The best thing to do is give it more time. If it gets too ridiculous, shutdown using the power button and then restart. Check  menu/About This Mac to see if it is installed.

My Mac Book Pro will not start up.  I ran the AHT and received the following error:  4SNS/1/40000000:Th0H-90.750.  Anyone know what this means?

I have no idea how much it will cost to repair. I don't even know what the exact problem will prove to be. It may be quick if it isn't a motherboard problem. I just don't know. Take it in for a service diagnostic, then they can tell you what is involved.

  • My mac book pro will not recognize

My mac book pro will not recognize my hp printer after years of knowing it's connected. USB port works fine with other connections.  I have reinstaled it. What do I do?

    Hi ...
Go to the HP site and download the drivers (software) that is specific to your HP printer model >  http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html
That way you will have the latest software available for your printer.
Then open System Preferences > Print & Scan - Print.
Select the printer on the left then click -  (minus)
Now click + and follow the instructions. You may need to turn the printer off then back on before your Mac recogizes the new drivers.
You may also need to click the lock icon in the Print window in order to make changes. You may be prompted for your admin password.

Mackeeper has been known to cause more problems than fix, all the posts here say don't use it and offer instuctions on how to remove it, which is not as easy as just dragging it to the trash.
I am willing to guess that some of the third party software could be the issue.
    Try a safe boot:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
Starting up in “safe mode” may help you diagnose problems you’re having with your Mac.
Note: To print these instructions, open the Help Viewer’s Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear) and choose Print.
Shut down your Mac and wait 10 seconds.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key.You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator (spinning gear).
To leave safe mode, restart the computer normally without holding down any keys during startup.
If you still have problems I would take it to Apple, there seems to be something strange going on here.
You search remove mackeeper on this forum, and get rid of it.

  • My new mac book air will not show old emails.  how can i fix this problem

my new mac book air will not show old emails.  how can i fix this problem

The answer depends on a number of factors, such as the following:
If you have more than one email account, does this problem affect one, some, or all of your accounts?
Where did you last see this mail -- in your Inbox(es)? in some other folder(s) outside your Inbox(es)? somewhere else?
How old is the missing email -- yesterday? just before you got the new computer? over a week? over a month? over a year?
How are you reading email -- with the builtin Mail application? with some other mail-reading application? with a web browser?
How do you access your email on the server -- IMAP? POP? Exchange? web browser? other?
What version of OS X is on your new computer -- Mavericks (10.9.x)? Mountain Lion (10.8.x)?
Did you migrate your data and applications from your old computer when you set up your new computer?
For example, if the missing mail is the mail that was in your Inbox before you got the new computer, you are reading it with the builtin Mail via POP, and you failed to migrate data, then the mail was left behind on the old computer. The same would be true if the mail was in "On My Mac" mailboxes and you failed to migrate data.
