Mac book pro wireless problem

Hello everyone,
My new macbook has been great except the wireless connection. I'm having problems keeping a wireless connection with it. I have a new USRobotics USR5461 wireless router with update f/w. The laptop is working fine when plug up with cat 5 cable. But when I connect to the wireless, about 5 mins later i lose connection and the SSID is not displayed. When I look again for it. I no where to be found. I'm able to see other routers thou. For some reason it see's allot of 2wire wireless router connection. I tried changing settings on the router, Channel-Auto, maxg154,WPA2 and WPA. For some reason it will not stay connected. I was thinking maybe it was the router. But i dont want to spend almost $200.00 on a apple wireless router if it has nothing to so with the router. I am only a few feet away when testing this. The router is in the same room. Also i know the internet connection is working because I am able to user the internet when it pluged up to the mac mini with cat 5 cable. I would be greatful for anyone's help.

Lots of us are having the same issue after the 7-31 Airport update. Respond to this thread to keep it bumped!

  • Is there anyway I can connect my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to my samsung ES8000

Is there anyway I can connect my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to my samsung ES8000?

    IOS?
Do you mean OSX (or is there another device you have yet to mention)?
If it is OSX connect the phone via Bluetooth and use the Browse Device command to access files. I have no idea whether this will work but it won't break anything.

  • Being new to working with Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to set my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll? My husband had gotten this printer and the sales person said that it can be set up wirelessly to my Mac Book Pro

Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)

    Hello:
There is nothing wrong with asking questions.  There  are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions.
If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly.  *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.

P.S. No need to apologize!  Most of the people here (none of us are Apple employees) enjoy trying to help others.

  • I have a Mac Book Pro - HELP - problems with bootcamp = too full

I have have a Mac Book Pro.  My drive is full.  Sadly I had the partition set up at a store that should have known what they were doing (NOT an apple store, but a certified store that carries only Apple products), anyway.. I am now at the point where my bootcamp is full.  I've tried reading a number of posts, but some things apply to me, some things don't so here is my situation:
    Mac Book Pro
    OS X 10.8.2
Processor: 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Startup Disk: Macintosh HD
    Using Bootcamp with Windows 7
I purchased Camptunes by Paragon and tried repartioning my drive that way.  It looked like it was going to work until the following error message happend:
Windows filesystem verification failed.  Please, repair Windows volume and try again.  Windows is not letting me do this because I don't have enough room. Round and round the problem goes.
Initially when I was trying to clear out my Windows side I found a bulky .NET program I wanted to delete.  It would not delete it for me (I can retry to look for that error message), but essentially it wouldn't delete it at all.  I have no temporary internet files I can delete, cookies or other programs (except my printer drivers), but essentially - I can't figure out what to do next.
I read another post about a person who didn't want to backup their files first.  This is not me.  I do back up to a LACIE back up drive that has a 999.86 GB capacity with 872.11GB free.  What I want to know is do I have to buy another back up to keep it all completely separate?  What other program do you recommend to create a virtual drive?  Can I get a step by step on what to do?  I have the original windows disk if that helps in the equasion.....
    My head hurts.... help!

interenet wasn't working properly and i couldn't finish
Try restarting while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the startup manager window where you can select the startup disk and reboot.
Then try reformatting (erase) using OS X Recovery  About OS X Recovery
Keep in mind, Apple does recommend a high speed broadband internet connection for OS X Recovery. A slow connection may time out before recovery is finished.

  • Connecting mac book pro wirelessly with hp printer

I am unable to connect my new mac book pro with my hp G85xi wirelessly. I am able to connect utilizing my other pc computers (laptop and desktop; this is my first mac). Could anyone provide help with this?

Right now, it's impossible to diagnose your issue. First, I would want to see if your MBP works on another monitor. I'd bring it to an Apple Store, I'm sure they'd let you try. Bring your own cable, just in case that's the issue. If it works there, then you know it's your LG monitor.
Something is wrong with either your monitor or the cable. I don't think it's your MBP.

  • Early 2011 Mac Book Pro (MBP) problem with sporadic AMD GPU automated switching system

I have an early 2011 Mac Book Pro (MBP) - specs are listed below. I have read online about other 2011s having an automatic shutdown problem & sporadic failure re the graphics AMD Radeon HD 6490M GPU automated switching system (among other problems with this "innovation" by Apple). I am having this problem: Shuts down by itself. Restarts - in the middle of the restart shuts down again. Fans are operating just fine. The problem has occurred if a video is playing, if I try to edit a video. It has occurred while using Skype (if the other party puts on their video camera), Firefox & Safari & Google Chrome. It has occurred even if I was working in Word if I was connected to the internet. I am working in a developing country and I have done a PRAM SMC Disk Utility Repair disk had a diagnostic run which showed no problems, etc. There is no temporary fix. Apple now hear this: This is going to morph into a logic board problem and you still haven't done anything about it??? This is an APPLE defect and I am very disappointed in Apple not acknowledging this defect and fixing the problem or issuing notification of a recall. I am outside of Apple Care and I have never had a mac give trouble until the 5 year mark. A 2GB RAM white iMac I gave my Mom is still operating perfectly! I am in the middle of a  climate change mitigation project and a I cannot finish my work due to this problem and I cannot afford to pay for another MBP $2400 doorstop. What is going on here? Steve dies so there is no one to put the fear of God in anyone at Apple anymore and now no one cares  about customer service? Where is the product recall? I have been a loyal Apple customer since 1983. Yes, 1983. DO SOMETHING NOW APPLE & NOTIFY US OF IT - We all registered our computers on YOUR website so you know who we are. Has anyone filed a class action yet?

I had a 13" mid-2012 that had three logic boards fail in less than a year of purchase. My symptoms were it would freeze while using it or after it was put to sleep. When it froze while being used, it would flash pixels in groups in different colors and would become unresponsive to everything but forcing it to shut down. If it froze while sleeping, it wouldn't wake up and it would get extremely hot to the touch. Apple covered the repairs every time but they sent me receipts and each time, it was a $480 logic board plus labor so it would cost about $530 overall. It sounds to me it's your hard drive because I also experienced two hard drive failures. First time was from an accidental drop. I would get a loading bar on startup and once it finished, it would shut down. I couldn't boot into recovery mode at or do anything. But before that would happen, I would get an error in disk utility after performing a disk repair saying it couldn't repair the disk and to back up as much data as I could. Luckily I have the Time Capsule so my data was always safe.

  • Mac book pro display problems

I have a mid 2009 mac book pro 15 inch. All of a sudden when I tilt my screen back more than 90 degrees, the right two or three inches gets distorted.
Some time is I wiggle it, it goes away. And wow, like right now it wont do it. Its like somting is loose?? Should I take it in or is it eay enough to see a poential loose cable if I take it apart.

If you have some mechanical aptitude and the right tools, go do it.  But first go to iFixit and look for instructions so that you do get any unpleasant surprises.
If you suffer from chronic fingerfumbelblitis, then it is the Apple store genius bar.
    Ciao.

  • Mac Book Pro & Wireless Router not engaging

I've purchased a Belkin Wireless G Router, F5D7320-4, 802.11g. On initial set up, I'm getting the message "The new set was not created", and the router will not recognise the ethernet connection.
Is this due to any difference in the 802.11g & 802.11n specifications, or possibly a problem with the airport card? Or something even simpler?
    Grateful for any help

no clue here...Personally I'd contact Belkin tech support. It would probably save a lot of time. Dunno why a router would not recognize a hard-wire ethernet connection. Most routers are setup by connection via ethernet and then using a web interface. Dunno how you started an initial setup if it won't recognize an ethernet connection. Again, I'd check with Belkin or do some web surfing for that particular router. That'll probably be more efficient than asking us yahoo's in this forum. clueless nerds that we are...

  • Why doesnt mac book pro wireless  internet not work as well as my macbook

    Hello,
My brother bought a macbook a few months ago, and we are on vacation now. He kept telling me to buy a macbook pro since i liked his so much, so i did. Know that i have it (1 week old) i have not been able to connect to the internet very well at all. If my computar and his are right next to each other, his picks up all of the signals while mine picks up none. Or if his computar is turned off, and im using mine, it connects only sometimes, and if it does, it is not very strong at all.
    Any help???
    thanks

Interference Robustness can help improve connections and reception in areas with cordless phones, microwave ovens, baby monitors... etc.
It's just a suggestion. Click the airport icon on the task bar at the top right of your screen. There'll be an option to use Interference Robustness.
As the previous poster said, the MacBook Pro's aluminium enclosure can mean it get's a weaker signal than the plastic MacBook does.
Switching Interference Robustness on might help you.

  • Setup help with Mac Book Pro

I recently bought a wre56g v3 for my gf and tried to get her to set it up.
problem is she is on a wireless network with her appartment and due to her being on "the bad side" of the building, she does not get good signal throughout her appt. I want to setup the expander to get the signal to the rest of her apartment.
i cant use the CD since she is using a mac, and i dont know much about macs anyway. she dose have an old dell that i tried and it found the correct network and channel, but when it was searching for the expander it either found a diffrent SSID network (a0756030) or nothing at all (it has a very weak wireless card.
i tried to plut it into the dell but that didnt help anything.
Can anyone point me to directions/insturctions on setting up the wre54g with a mac book pro wirelessly?
can you set it up on the iphone?

What is the Model no of the Router...?
Try this link and configure all the wireless settings on the WRE54G same as of the Router.

  • Mac book pro wont run apple hardware test

    Hi,
I have several problems with my Mac book Pro. Problems started so that I couldn't sign in to my account, three other account worked quite normally. I did run disk utility to fix problems that there was. That didn´t fix account problem. Then I tried to install SnowLeopard again, but it hangs after a while.
Hardware test programs starts and immediatelly after that computer shuts power off.

I wonder if it a permission issue?
Maybe chmod 777 the correct files would help
Not sure which files but you did have an error which says it cant write due to being read on. Are you the admin of the laptop and are able to mod all the files?
I could be wrong but just an idea.
Have you also tried to re-download the OS you are trying to install in case it is corrupt?

  • Mac Book Pro shuts down suddenly

I have been using my mac book pro without problems. All of a sudden I cant move the mouse anymore and the computer shuts down. It will restart itself with a message that reads something like your computer is restarting in 15 seconds or so but click anywhere to get in. Its just weird. I dont see any problems other than it does say I need to service battery. So is this the intial problem or is it something else? What can I do? Am I damaging my computer if I need a new battery? Help please....!

first if you are getting message that your battery needs service, you want to get it looked at either by going to apple store or service provider.
try doing an SMC reset, the following article tells how:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
after this reset restart the computer and see if it works normally if it doesn't see below.
second regarding the restart of your computer, it could be a kernel panic. the following article tells how to troubleshoot this issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3742
if after following this article the mac continues to restart try running the apple hardware test to see if there is a hardware issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509
if none of the above steps resolve your issue i would take to apple store or service provider to have it serviced.

  • Mac Book Pro and HP Envy 110e wireless printing problems

I have had my Mac book Pro since Christmas 2013 and initally had no problems printing wirelessly to my HP Envy 110e, but for some reason, I keep on getting problems printing to the envy 110. We have no problems printing with our Ipad's to this printer.
I can connect to the printer from my Mac book Pro by putting in the IP address 192.168.1.72 in a web browser, but keep on getting the little offline symbol when I print to the Envy. Last night I re-installed the printer to print wirelessly onto my mac book pro using a printer cable, which then worked fine, but today the same problem re-occured.
I am beginning to think that the problem may have started with the latest version of the operating system update to Mavericks 10.9.4.
    Any thoughts welcome.

    Hi @UKCheshire
Since you are able to print from the iPad to the printer wirelessly, I suspect you are on to something. I believe the issue has something to do with the communication between the printer and the computer and not between the printer and router. Please use the following document to troubleshoot the issue; 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Mac OS X.
If the issue persists, don't give up hope, let me know and we will work through it together.

  • I have my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A connected to my Mac Book Pro on a Wireless network. It works and

I have my Hp Officejet Pro 8500 A connected to my MAc Book Pro which is running Lion OS on a wireless network.  It works just fine and prints and everything.  The problem is a "HP Utility" window that pops up on my screen and says it is "connecting to device" and lists my printer.  It just runs and runs and the entire thing is gray - meaning I can't close it, cancel it, or anything. When you try to click on it, the arrow becomes the color wheel of death.   It is driving me crazy.  I have gone through settings, I have downloaded the latest drivers, I have looked in utilities, I have opened the printer folder and can't find where this thing is coming from or how to turn it off.  Please help.  And yes I have turned offf the computer and rebooted.

If you are using Snow Leopard or Lion and have HP software for pre-Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard or Lion and had the HP software on your Mac before you upgraded - even if you did a standard uninstall of the old software or installed new software over the top of it) you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Now reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If you want more features, you can download and install the Full Featured software from the "Support & Drivers" button at the top of this page, otherwise, basic printing and scanning will work without it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
