I am getting a message saying that my macbook is not good enough! can anyone tell me if this is true and if the only way is to spend £1000 and buy a macbook pro!

One of the users on my Mac book pro running mountain lion finds that no changes made in last session are there next time they log on.
For instance, the Macintosh HD icon, is always moved so that it is almost off the screen to top left hand side of the desktop.
None of my changes to the sidebar in the finder are there.
My changes to the dock have reverted.
Despite unticking the box when logging out, even though i have quit all applications, iphoto and safari are always re-opened.
iphoto always says the library needs to be upgraded... even though i did that the last time.
I have tried deleting ALL the files in the "Saved application state" folder in the library folder, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
This is on a second admin user account.
The main user account seems to be fine.
This account used to be in the filevault on Lion, but is not now in Mountain Lion.
Can anyone help?
ThanksThe same tragic thing happened to me, not even a full two days after I bought it. I immediately powered it off, wiped it as best I could, and put it in front of a fan. I tried valiantly to get the back off, but couldn't remove all the screws. I was basically inconsolable until I realized that no matter what, my credit card insurance would cover it, since it had been less than 90 days. Fast forward 48 hours, and it seemed to run just fine. Some of the keys and the track pad were sticky, and I figured since it was covered, I might as well get it fixed. My only concern at this point was had I voided the Apple Care. I brought it in, told them what happened, said what I needed to satisfy the credit card, and they said, "We'll just swap it out for you, no problem." I was thrilled, and the Genius said they appreciated my honesty, and it was easier for all parties to just do it this way. And my Apple Care was transferred to the new machine. This was my first Mac and, needless to say, I am now an Apple devotee.

Hi since updating my Mac Book Pro from Mountain Lion to Maverick the computer is running slow
When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above. Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough. It is never necessary or helpful to post more than about 100 lines. "The more, the better" is not the rule here.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

I recently upgraded my Mac Book Pro to Mountain Lion mainly to get the notes app. Notes synced once then no more. I have notes turned on in system preferences. Any ideas? Is this a known issue?

I have this problem too but it seems pot luck and only like 5% of the time, the website will say the page is loaded but the page is just blank white...refreshing does not work and I have to go back and navigate to the page again

Just installing a few updates from the Mac App Store for mountain lion on my 2010 MacBook Pro, during this it made a noise and then the screen and keyboard went off, like it is off. What happened, is it off...or should I just wait it out?
What kind of noise?
The only things I can think of that make noise are fans and disks. Fans usually will not cause the computer to shutdown as you describe. My guess is your disk drive died. I hope you made a backup prior to start the ungrade.

Mac Book Pro with OS X Mountain Lion will not recognize headset mic via Rosetta Stone software. What should I do?

I am using version 3. I have used the apple/settings on my mac. The headset is appearing there and it is selected there. In the Rosetta Stone select/find window nothing shows up. It is blank. But the volume bars react when I speak and sliding the fader has the expected effect of raising and lowering the input. There is just no device showing up as the selected input device in the Rosetta Stone software.
I have done everything my Mac instructions say to uninstall and reinstall the Rosetta Stone software properly.
I'm guessing the problem may be in the licensing. I installed it first on the old hard drive that crashed. Maybe that used the terms of the license and now installing it in the new hard drive violates the license somehow. So that's why it will not work properly. It allows me to open the lessons and asks me if I want to continue from where I left off. I click continue. Then it asks me if I want to register the software. I click the tab for already registered software and click continue. Then nothing happens. So again I click on the button that indicates I want to continue lessons from where I left off. The same process happens with it asking me if I want to register the software. And it will not proceed through a lesson. -
I am having an issue in making power nap work on Mountain Lion on my mid 2011 Mac Book Air. It is enabled in system preferences but with time machine and sleeping overnight it did not seem to do hourly back up as stated or any other functions of power nap that I know of. it has been enabeled on both battery and plug in dc and I did leave it on plug in overnight.

The OS X Mountain Lion I tried to download Wi-Fi on Mac Book Pro was not successfull. Should I buy it again? Should I check with Apple store for credit?
I successfully instaled it in iMac, but have problem with laptp. I also think I should not have bought 2 upgardes, becase if I have 2 computers, one paid upgrade is good for both computers. Am I wrong? SOmeone can advise how to proceed? I want to try again through Ethernet - cable internet - instead of Wi-Fi. Thank youYou should not have paid twice. If you logged into the App Store with the same AppleID as you used to purchase Mountain Lion the first time, you should not have been charged again.
If you internet connection is not working well enough to download it, do you have access to another network that might be faster? Perhaps and Apple Store nearby? -
Will it slow down Mac book aluminium with Mountain lion?
I m very interested with new os of Mountain Lion and i consider to upgrade it. But I really concren about will it slow down my current Mac Book Aluminium? As I have upgraded to 4GB RAM.
You'll need to wait until it's released for the various groups that benchmark new systems to run the comparison tests. Macworld.com is pretty good about that.

MAc book crashing after Mountain Lion download
My MacBook Pro crashes when I move icons on my desktop. after it loads I get error message with a bunch of nonsense and GPU Panic which applecare peeps seem to think is a problem with graphics? I downloaded Mountain Lion yesterday. Help! it keeps crashing. I am panicking!
You have the MacBookPro6,2, the Edsel of Macs. It has a defective logic board that may be covered by this recall program:
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010): Intermittent black screen or loss of video
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider, to have the machine tested. The routine hardware diagnostics used by service providers do not detect the fault. There is a specific test for this issue.
Print the first page of the panic report, and the support page linked above, and bring them with you.
Note that the recall only applies within three years of purchase. After that, Apple may refuse the service. In that case, you may be quoted a price of about $300 (in the U.S.) for a "depot repair," which involves shipping the unit to a central repair facility and takes about two weeks. For that flat fee, anything found wrong with it should be fixed, not just the logic board.
The model was discontinued in February 2011, so the replacement program will be ending soon. Some units may have been sold by Apple as refurbished after that date.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Sometimes the replacement part is also defective, so be prepared for that possibility.
If it's too late for your unit to be repaired under the program, and you don't want to pay for a new logic board, you may be able to stop the panics by disabling automatic graphics switching.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed. -

iPhoto must be updated to use in Mavericks. Don't do this as it will update your iPhoto Library to the new version making it unusable on Mountain Lion, but if you start iPhoto while holding down the Option key, you can then tell iPhoto where your Library is located -

Is your macbook mid2011 or newer if it is air or early 2011 or newer if it is pro. If not it does not support mirror and you would need a third party app such as www.airparrot.com . If it is a compatable mac then post again and give a little detail of your set up and what the problems are.
