Mac book wont turn off
I have an older (5years?) MacBookPro.
It was making a clicking sound, which continued for quite a while. No programs were running. I could not shut down, or force quit.
Finally, I just pressed the power key until it turned off.
I waited 15 minutes, then turned it back on. The screen stayed white, and the clicking continued.
Force quit didn't work, so I powered off again.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
i doubt it will, but at least try. Importantly, need to know if it even can. If you still get the white screen then take it in for service. Most likely the hard drive has died or is dying.

Mac book pro,
Turns off and goes under protection, sometimes without any specific motivation, but most of the time when an External monitor is pluged-in.
I use it when I work with final cut pro, and this problem it's becoming huge and changing my workplans....
It can turns off also 10 times in two hours.
In many forums I read that the CPU temp could be the problem, but I've checked it and It's always around 62°-68°....
In some others they say that the new RAM could be the problem too.
Is anybody able to help me? (Underneath you can check the Panic Report and my mac informations)
Thank you so much.
Antonio

Mac book pro turned off by itself
Hi, my mac book pro turned off by itself when I try to open iphoto or VLC and it restart automatically.

Hello,
My Mac Book Pro turns off without reason. It hypernates. At first I thought it was the battery but It is not that. It says it has 2:30 left, but to turn it on I need to plug in the adapter. It does that for 2 days now.
Thank you in advance,
ChrystallaThe battery has an integrated microchip that acts as a "fuel gauge." Calibration resets this gauge, which allows the OS to better determine times to charge and discharge the battery. Calibration should be done approximately every two months. Failure to do so for a long period of time can result in the microchip "fuel gauge" in the battery losing the ability to accurately determine the remaining charge, and it will report that there is more charge in the battery than is actually present. As a result, the computer will not initiate Safe Sleep at the proper time, and instead undergo a hard shut down, one of the main causes of hard drive directory damage.

My new mac book pro turns off with out my will
I bought a macbook pro17" 2,33 (3gb ram , 100SD@7200rpm)in 12th of june and since then it has a big problem!! It suddenly stops working and turns off without my will !! after that turns on and sometimes freezes with the white screen with apple logo!! I run hardware test and it found no. 4/mem4/40000000jgpa.:oxbd644c10 and 4/mem4/40000000jgpa.:1c7688cc !! It;s a big problem and I am going to get at least a new one..I can't take it this repaired .I paid about 3400 usd and i am extremely dissapointed!!
With the right approach, you may still be able to have your MacBook Pro designated as Dead On Arrival (DOA). Otherwise, consider doing some basic repair steps as listed below. From my previous post:
Repairing Permissions and/or Resetting the Power Management Unit (PMU) is known to resolve certain anomalies or conditions, and may help with your symptom. Neither process will compromise or harm anything with your Mac so it’s worth a shot.
Repair Permissions:
Go to: Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
Select: your Hard Drive
Select: the First Aid tab
Select: Repair Permissions
Resetting the Power Management Unit (PMU)
If the computer is on, turn it off.
Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
Press the Power button to restart the computer.

My macbook just turned off and now won't turn back on.
Try resetting it. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 or 12 seconds. Hlopefully you'll see the Apple logo (since you say it's well charged).

Mac book wont turn on after installing Mountain Lion
I installed mountain lion on my macbook. Like other users my battery drained quickly for about two weeks. The my computer wouldn't turn on. I have taken it to apple and they inform me my logic board needs to be replaced. They assure me that I have done nothing wrong it just happens some time. After talking to other people at uni I have discovered they have had hardware problems like the earphone jacks not working after installing Moutain Lion and battery power draining. Has anyone else had these issues?
some of my friends have the battery issue. I suggested them to do clean install and it fixed for some..

Should the mac book be turned off if not in use?
Does leaving the macbook powered on 24/7 cause problems?
You can leave it plugged in while sleeping...the Apple charging circuitry chareges the battery to 100% and then shutsdown and the unit uses line power until the battery trickles down to 93-95% at which point the circuit kicks in and tops up the battery, and shutsdown again. Keeps doing that so it cannot overcharge the system.
Personally, I don't like the thermal cycling of powering down and up frequently.
If you keep it plugged in just remember to unplug and run the battery down about half way once or twice a month to exercise it. Running the battery down to shutdown is not good for the battery. Sudies have shown a battery discharged to 50% and recharged will have three to four times the life of a battery discharged all the way as a regular thing. -

my mac book air turn on with grey apple icon and spining wheel. then it wont turn off.pls help
Have exactly the same problem with my wife's MacBook Air. After restaring in Restore mode and trying to repair the disk (Disk Utility showed errors in the verification), the system tells me to backup as much data as possible (how?), re-format the disk and restore backed-up files. Error comes up when "updating boot support partitions for the volume as required".
Original restart action was done due to software update requesting it, if I remember correctly, iTunes was updated.
I don't want to start a painful back-up procedure (although I do regular back-ups): how should I know, where iPhoto stores it's data or where my mails are (yes, still using local mail)? How can I access the data if I can't boot?
My iMac's disk crashed also a couple of months ago and I'm still recovering. I have four Apple devices, two of them have failed. Can Apple afford such a ratio?
