Mac bookpro color profile intermittleny changes.

My Mac book pro's color will randomly change to a blue tint (from Color LCD to either CIE RGB or ColorMatch). To fix it, i can go into the color profile and change it back there, but thats becoming a pain in the butt. Is there a way that this can be fixed? Maybe deleting the colour profiles that i do not need... thanks a lot, grant. sorry for the repost.

2 solutions for you:
1- In the system preferences-->Display-->choose the color tab, then select the profile you want then check the "Show profiles for this display only" option,
this will make all the other profiles disappear from the list.
2-go to HD-->Library-->preferences-->ByHost and delete: com.apple.preference.displays.(numbers).plist
then reboot.
Hope that is helpful

  • Color profile when changing from RGB to CMYK

I prefer to work on images in RGB then change to cmyk once I'm sure i won't need to run any more effects or filters on them. When I save an image the first time, I have the option to embed my color profile with the image. It embeds the RGB profile... the only option as long as I'm working in RGB. What I've noticed though, is that after converting to cmyk, I don't get any warnings or other indication that it needs me to embed the color profile. I need to do a save-as in order to get back to that option.
So the question is... does Photoshop automatically switch to my default CMYK color profile when I convert to CMYK? So when I save, it's now using the CMYK profile?

    Save your original RGB file.
Then, RGB file > Edit > Convert to Profile (with CMYK#1) > Save As...
This creates your first CMYK file.
Then, back to original RGB file > Edit > Convert to Profile (with CMYK#2) > Save As...
This creates your second CMYK file.
Then, back to original RGB file > Edit > Convert to Profile (with CMYK#3) > Save As...
This creates your third CMYK file.
In all cases, be sure you have "Embed Color Profile" checked at the bottom of the Save As dialog. When naming a file, it's handy to include some sort of indication as to the color space.
In the end, you have four files: 1 RGB file, 3 CMYK files.

  • .Mac Gallery Color Profile Problems

Love the new features in aperture. I was really excited about the .Mac gallery integration as when I send clients photos i normally just put them on a web directory as a zip file with now pretty gallery at all. I was excited to learn i could publish the full resolution versions to .Mac and it would make a zip file for the client to download. this is great!
    The Problem:
    1. The downloaded images are in 8bit Adobe RGB. No matter the settings.
    What I have observed.
I've made a few galleries to avoid refresh problems.
At first i thought it was because my .psd's and some raw images were in the Adobe RGB color space.
I do edit in 16 bit Adobe RGB in photoshop. One of things that i looove about aperture is i can edit in Adobe RGB and then use Aperture to do color management and bit depths/file types and so on.
I tried making sure all images published were converted to sRGB thinking that it just took the default color space of the original image. This did NOT fix the problem.
Problem occurs with both allow downloading of "Optomized Image" and "Actual Size" settings
any final output is usually 8bit sRGB for anything. Macs are Profile aware but most clients have crummy PC's so images won't display or print properly. It would be awesome if we hat a little bit more control over what is posted for the "download" like pick a setting from the output presets just like you can with the HTML web galleries and such. The preview images for the gallery, (what you see in the browser) are in the sRGB color space. But the downloaded images using the download feature are always in 8bit Adobe RGB no matter what the source color space is in.
Let me know if anyone else is experiencing the same thing or if they know of a fix.

I have the same problem. Most of images are in aRGB and when they are uploaded to the Web Gallery there's no way to convert them to sRGB. The images on the gallery look washed out on other people's PCs.
Does anyone know a fix for this problem?

  • Raw to HDR color profile change?

I am processing a series of Nikon NEF (Adobe RGB) bracketed files to a single HDR photo using Bridge's Tools>Photoshop>Merge to HDR PRO.  This works fine, except the resulting file is now sRGB. How can I keep the color profile from changing during this one-step process?

The HDR image has no knowledge of what the profiles of the component images was.
If you want a particular profile for your HDR image, set that profile as your working space.
Also, profiles are not so limiting in HDR - because overranged and negative values can be preserved, there is no clipping.

When it comes to color profiles it is over my head.  There are some very smart people on the photoshop forum regarding this subject.  I would post there also for a better chance of a timely answer.

  • Need help with Color Profiles between Photoshop and iPhoto

Hey guys, I'm a photographer and have always used Photoshop in comination with iPhoto. I am having great difficulty lately with color profiles randomly changing within albums of pictures. I need all of my images to be in sRGB, but some somehow end up in Adobe RGB. It seems to happen at random. Apple seems to think it's an Adobe problem. Adobe isn't sure what to do. Anybody aware of any known issues between CS5 and iPhoto using OS 10.8.4 with regard to color profiles and how to fix them?

The article also says you need Scribus to then further process the SVG file.
@shaunamm You need to open the SVGin Illustrator, not place it. But I doubt that you will be able to get the effects in Illustrator.

  • Intel-Mac Color Profile Issues

    Afternoon Folks,
Just picked up my 15" MPB this past Friday. My iMac had packed it in, so went for broke and got a 15", with 2GB of RAM and the 256MB video.
So..besides the Type-1 font problem, I have a HUGE problem with Color Profiles.
In Adobe Photoshop CS my RGB values are not being displayed properly. I am using the IEC-61966-2.1 profile in Photoshop, CorelDraw, Dreamweaver and Ilustrator. Images that worked on my old Mac are being mucked with somehow.
Example. I have a bunch of vectors files for a client that use the following values:
    RGB = 41-56-91
    CMYK = 91-80-39-31
    Hex = 29385B
(you can view thsi color on brooksbrothers.com)
but if I touch the old files with any app on the new system, the values get changed. I take an existing CDR file, open it in CorelDraw and export to JPG, and the value is change on the blue. I take an existing jpg, open it with Photoshop, close the file, and re-open it and the value is changed.
I can't afford to re-do all the colors for this client, as they really like this shade of blue. Is anyone else dealing with this nightmare?
Anyone else think Apple jumped the gun on the chip-set switch?
    Sincerely,
    Scott

FYI, I haven't done any major profile tweaks or anything, just running on default. But I have noticed the color profile of the general OS is considerably warmer on my screen, thus affecting warm colors like yellows, oranges, and greens for me.
I colored an illustration on my MBP in Flash, and when I checked it on my G4 and other monitors, a lot of my warms were hot and not so great.
Not sure why this is, but I am a bit concerned, as color is very important to my work. This is my first laptop, but I expected color issues on laptops to be somewhat resolved at this point. In many ways, I prefer the way colors look on my MBP, so maybe the world will just change for me

My monitor color profile changes after fast switching users, and then I cannot change it back in the prefs for display-color. Attempting to choose (restore) my chosen calibrated color profile does not work.

my iCal calendar that I created with the color green keeps changing to purple.  no matter how many times I change it to green, it turns it back to purple.  Of course this only happens with iCloud and not "from my Mac".  Any ideas on how to correct this?  This seems like a trivial error, but it's super annoying.

I called Apple and they said that they know about this problem.  It's a problem with iCloud which their Engineers know about.  (there was a new iCloud release, hence...)  No ETA for a fix yet.  I asked that this be escalated so Engineering doesn't put it at the bottom of their fix list.  I talked to a Senior Advisor and mentioned to them to have QA check their regression tests as this has happened before to me (the problem just didn't take this long to resolve).  I like to use green too for important stuff, so I've resorted to creating a new calendar using the normal calendar green for events going forward.  They could have picked another color besides green to have this problem with and I wouldn't have been so upset.  ;-)

  • Change Default Color Profile in New Image Document ?

I've looked and looked, and even Googled.  Anyone know how to change the default color profile when you start a New image file?  In CS5 mine defaults to sRGB (Under the Advanced drop down) but my CS6 is ProPhoto RGB which means I have to change it manually nearly every time I paste an image copied via right click in a web browser.

I think it the same on windows. If I copy things to the clipboard with Photoshop that the document profile seem to be used there when I do a paste there are no color issues.  However if I use Prtscn or Alt+PrtScn to capture screen content.  I'll see that the colors are wrong when I paste the clipboard into a new document if my default color space is not sRGB. Then I need to assign sRGB to the document to correct the colors.
If I paste a screen capture into the current document the color can be very off and I will not get a prompt on the color mismatch. Therefore I don't think a screen capture has any profile associated with it. And of course the screen has a much lower resolution then the images I edit. So there is also a big size difference. Here is one scaled to 100% zoom after the paste. You can see both the color and resolution difference.  This capture was assigned to sRGB so you will see what the screen looks like after the paste and zoom to 100%.

  • Changing color profile in Lightroom 5 Soft Proofing from ProPhotoRGB to sRGB is not showing any changes, changes in Photoshop CC are dramatic

I am working with  the color profile ProPhoto RGB in both Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC. In preparing for my first Blurb book I have tried to generate pictures in sRGB in Lightroom, using the Soft Proofing feature, but there are no changes at all. Then I transfer the same pictures into Photoshop, change the color profiles and the results are dramatically different.
What can I do to achieve the same results in Lightroom

With an average monitor what you see on-screen is already soft proofed to sRGB (or something very close to it), because that's all the monitor is capable of displaying anyway. So soft proofing to sRGB won't tell you anything. You won't see any difference.
In Photoshop it sounds as if you assign profiles. That's not the way to do it. If you convert correctly you won't see any difference. Same principle as above: there may be clipping in the process, but what you see on screen is already clipped, so no visual on-screen difference.
With a wide gamut monitor soft proofing becomes slightly more useful. But still you won't see any changes occurring outside Adobe RGB. You'll get a better idea by keeping an eye on the histogram. Ideally, all three channels should taper gently off towards the endpoints. If any one or two channels are backed solidly up against the endpoint, on either side, that's gamut clipping.
If Blurb gave you a real profile, one that reflected their actual printing process, you could soft proof to that. But apparently they don't.

  • Mountain Lion change color profile when use discrete video card

MacBookPro mid 2010. Update Samsung SSD 830.
Mountain Lion 10.8.2 just installed (new installation).
Reset PRAM and SMC. Done. No result.
    Try with GfxCardStatus. No result.
When the system uses the discrete video card changes the color profile.
I'm not the only one with this problem.
Someone managed to solve the problem (really)?
I DO NOT ACCEPT COMMENTS OR ANSWERS USELESS.
Sorry, but slightly altering after losing three hours in forums where no one ever answered ...
    Thanks.
    Stefano.

    Let's see...
Sounds like you're running into an expected issue if you make an alias to removeable media.  The same thing would happen if you made the alias to a folder on a DVD-R disc or CD-R.  If you eject the original, you disable the alias.
If you copy the entire SD card volume to your drive, the PRIVATE package should copy across.  Then, as a folder on your hard drive rather than a volume on removeable media, you could make an alias to the STREAM package for quicker access later.
I'm pretty sure that Handbrake, like Prmeiere Pro, can see the MTS files directly.  That is, it's not dependant on the other folders in the PRIVATE directory sturcture.  As such, you could copy the contents of the STREAM package to another folder on your drive.  Just be mindful of the default MTS file names if you're using more than one SD card (you don't want to accidentally copy 00001.MTS from one card over 00001.MTS from another card).
As long as Handbrake sees MTS directly, you could even rename the MTS files after you've copied them.
On a side note, I almost always archive my SD cards with the data structure intact.  More often than not, that file structure is important to corretly access the video stored within that structure.  If something unexpected happens while working with the MTS files, it is good to have the original file structure to go back to.  Although, SD cards are getting to be so low cost that sometimes I just label the SD card and store it for archiving.
