Mac can't connect to wifi, windows can

My iPad cannot stay connected to my home wifi network (Time Warner Cable using UBee modem/router). The iPad recognizes the wifi network, acquires an IP Address, connects for approx 5 min and then the the connection no longer loads webpages or loads any data. The iPad remains connected to the network with a strong signal but it cannot load pages. At the same time 2 other windows laptops connect to the network fine.
I've restarted the device, the router, and checked the router settings to confirm that it has enough simultaneous CPEs from the DHCP server to connect and it is at 253.
I'm skeptical that Time Warner is limiting the number of devices I can connect, but I am able to connect many windows devices without a problem.
Any suggestions?

Hi there, had this problem recently and your post led me to investigate it even more and not ignore and finally managed to find a solution. and its a simple one believe it or not. Here's what you do:
1) From your mac interface (while windows 8 is running), right click on the VMware Fusion icon and select the option Virtual Machine Library.
2) A new window should show, showing you the windows 8 you are currently running and what is displayed there at the moment. Right click on the Windows 8 screen and select the option Settings.
3) 3 rows of options will show, in the second row (named: Removable Devices), select Network Adapter.
4) Now you should be able to see the source of which your Windows 8 takes interenet. Mine was taking internet by sharing with my mac. so the option "Share with My Mac" was ticked. I did change that to "Wi-Fi" by ticking that option from the list "Bridged Networking" just under "Share with my Mac".
It would probably require administrative power to change that, insert your password and make sure the option Wi-Fi is ticked and then simply close the window.
Go back and launch Windows 8, your internet should be working fine. Good luck.

OK. First of all, I've read through several pages of PPs people have posted with the same problem and I haven't found any resolutions as of yet.
I have a mac mini running OS 10.5.0 with Boot Camp and Windows XP Professional. I can connect to my WiFi perfectly through the Mac side. But when I boot into Windows, it won't connect to my wireless. It SEES the network. But the connection never makes a handshake. The connection window just disappears and I'm not connected. I tried pinging my IP JIC and everything is disconnected.
I've tried DLing the hotfixes and D-Link firmware updates as suggested in other threads and it's still not connecting. Another catch is that I just got my mini back from my friend who got all this working for me and he had no problem connecting to his WiFi through Windows. I don't know what else to try. Please help!
ETA: I know for a fact that he installed the Leopard drivers after installing Windows because he asked me to find my Leopard disc so he could do so

Well, that's an obvious indicator that it's not your hardware. Are you sure you've got everything set up properly on the Windows side? Since your system is able to see the connection point through your WiFi card, then that takes SSID broadcasting possibilities out of the picture. Perhaps if when on the Windows side you tell Windows to FORGET the connection that your friend used. You know what I mean? Once you connect somewhere, the WiFi card/software remembers the connection. Try that and see if it helps. Also make sure that you're typing in the correct NAME/PASSWORD for the LAN at your place. Sometimes also XP Pro' Firewall can get in the way, so I would check into that as well. Hope at least some of this is of help.

I have a Dell Power Edge T110 ii in the office that has files and software I need to access when away from the office, when I am on the road I use a mac book pro and an iPad.
I am sorry if I am being a bit vague but this is all new to me, I have tried 3 IT guys but they can not find a way.

I am connected to wifi, but can't open webpages or collect mail. I have tried to reconnect; to forget the network, all those things that should hepl. My phone and my computer recognize the network, the ipad doesn't. I mean I am connected and have a full scala of connection bows, but nothing happens.

You iPad recognizes the wifi signal, but is not connected.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

What type of encryption are you using with your wireless network -WEP or WPA?
If your wireless router supports both which it should unless it is quite old and you are using WEP, try switching to WPA which is much more secure than WEP which is important if you have a Windows PC or any Windows based device connected to your network.
In addition, when was the last time you checked Netgear's website to see if there is a firmware update available for your wireless router model that you haven't installed?

My imac running lion can not connect to a Windows PC on my network

My imac runing lion 10.7 can not connect to my Windows 7 pc on my network. When i select connect to server, I can see the windows computer but when i try to connect, i get the error message:
Connection failed. There was a problem connecting to the server. Ther server may not exist or is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection and try again.
I entered smb:// computer name and I tried smb://IP address. Neither would connect.
I am able to connect to the imac from my Window PC and access files but not I can not connect my iMac to the Windows PC.
I am trying to connect the two computers so that I can use a printer that is attached to the Windows 7 pc.
When I first downl;oaded and installed Lion, I was able to connect to the Windows 7 pc and use the printer attached to it.
I have tried 5 or 6 different suggestions to no avail. Both computers are up to date and the printer drivers are up to date.
Please let me know if there is a solution.

Be sure to make the network Workgroup name on the Mac and Windows boxes the same.
On the Mac it is in System Preferences, Network Preferences, Advanced, WINS
On the Windows machine check in the Control Panel where you will also find the Computer name listed. I don't have my PC running right now, so I am not sure exactly where it is. Only assign a Workgroup, do not create a Domain.
You can also search in Windows for Workgroup.
I can link/network Lion to Win7 and vice versa without any problems.

Can't connect to wifi as hardware cannot be found

Hi, I m using MacBook and all the while I m able to connect to wifi. However, just 2 days ago, I can't connect to wifi all of a sudden? When I check the wifi icon on the desktop, it says "wifi no hardware installed". Tried going to System Preference to turn it on but the button does not respond to on the wifi. Does anybody know how to resolve this? Thank you

Might be corrupted network preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
See if that makes a difference.
Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

Try restoring your phone usng DFU mode. Here are steps to get DFU Mode: Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer. (some turn off iPhone here, I do not) Hold both home and power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release power button, keep holding home button until iPhone recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually takes 10-20 seconds of holding the home button. If the iPhone screen is black (blank) the iPhone is in DFU Mode.

I've just upgraded my blackberry playbook to OS 2 and now I can't connect to wifi. Previously save connections are no longer present. Connection attempts don't go past 1st attempt of three.
I've tried broadcasting the ssid and turning off the access control list.
Any ideas on how to fix?

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Contact Rhapsody to see if they have or plan to release an update for the app. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears?

Can't connect to wifi in hotels in Ireland with my iPhone 5. My iPad 3 works fine. When I enter the wifi password for the network I always get the error message "Incorrect password for XYZ". No problem with iPad 3.

Returned home only to find the same situation with my home network. Much time on chat support with Apple. Short story long: Must have been corrupted software. Had to restore original original software then add back apps and music. Couldn't back up before doing the restore so I lost a bunch of pics, but at least the phone is working once again.
