Mac can't see HP Laserjet MFP 225w

Hello , I understand that you're experiencing issues when printing wirelessly from your Mac OS X 10.10 computer to your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw. I would like to assist you today with resolving this wireless printing issue. Because your wife is able to print wirelessly from her Mac system to your printer, I do not think this is a network connectivity issue between your router and printer. Rather, there may be a network conflict between your printer and your Mac OS X 10.10 computer, or a print system conflict occuring. To start troubleshooting I am going to have you confirm with 100% certainty that your printer and computer are communicating over the network. Once we confirm if your computer and printer are communicating we will work towards a resolution. Can I please have you follow the steps below.  Step 1: Check Connectivity: On the front panel of your HP Laserjet touch the down arrow until you see ReportsSelect ReportsSelect Network SummaryOnce the Network Summary Report prints, please take note of the IP Address and Network Name (SSID)On your Mac computer, please check in the top right corner that the Network Name (SSID) on the Mac matches the Network Name (SSID) on the printer exactly. Avoid connecting to 'guest' networks. Also, if you're utilising a dual band router please make sure that the Mac is connected to the 2ghz band and not the 5ghz band. Printers are not supported over 5ghz network connections. If you're not sure how to check the dual band settings for your router you may need to speak with your router manufacturer.Once you have confirmed that your printer and computer are connected to the identical Network Name (SSID) please open up the internet browser on your MacIn the address bar please type in your printers IP Address. Do not include www. Search to this website. A website for your printer will now open.  If a website for your printer fails to open: This indicates that your printer and computer are not communicating over the network. Please do not proceed with troubleshooting at this time. If a website for your printer opens successfully: This proves with 100% certainty that your printer and computer are communicating over the network. Can I please have you follow the steps below to resolve this network discovery and printing issue.   Step 2: Reset the Print System: To start, I am going to have you Reset the Print System on your Mac as it is important that we have a nice clean slate to work with for troubleshooting. Please click here for instructions on how to perform the Reset. When the website opens follow the steps under 'Resetting the printing system in OS X Lion.' This Reset will remove every printer from your Mac. However, it does not uninstall the printers. Therefore, should you use other printers on this Mac, once the Reset is complete simply ensure that the printers are connected via a USB Cable or Network connected and (+) Add them back in. Do not add your HP Laserjet back in at this time. Once the reset is complete, please proceed to the next step.   Step 3: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to ApplicationsGo to the Utilities FolderOpen the Disk UtilitySelect the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)Select Verify Disk PermissionsOnce that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions  Step 4: Check for Apple Updates: Go to AppleSelect System PreferencesSelect Software UpdateClick Update NowInstall your available updatesRestart your computer  Step 5: Install Device: Please click here to download the Full Feature Software and Driver package for your printerOnce the download is complete please follow the onscreen prompts to install your printerOnce the installation has completed successfully please test printing   Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should the issue persist, be sure to let me know if you are able to successfully access your printers website (EWS Browser) using your printers IP Address. I look forward to hearing from you!

Hey , Thanks for getting back to me regarding this issue. At this time I am going to have you check the driver that is being utilised by your HP Laserjet on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. There is a chance that a generic Apple Airprint driver was loaded onto your printer and is preventing you from printing. Can I please have you follow the steps below to confirm that the correct driver is being utilised.
1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences. 2. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list. 3. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer.  4. Click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, 5. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that the Laserjet driver is selected and not the Airprint.
  6. Click Add to add the printer to the list.  Once your HP Laserjet has been confirmed as installed with the correct HP driver, please test printing again.  Please let me know if these steps resolve your printing issue. Good luck!

  • Mac can not see any printers.

Mac can not see any printers.
I have 2 other computers (1 windows / 1 Mac Book) using the printers just fine but once device can not even find a printer. Any ideas?
Printer is Ricoh Aficio MP C3501
The computer could not find the printers so I cleared them from system preferences. Updated everything, including downloading the most up to date driver, restarted and still can not see any printers.
    Thank you for your help,
    Darren D

    Hello ddelin,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I realize that two out of your three computers can see your printer, but one MacBook Pro will not. You have also done some great troubleshooting by deleting the printer, installing drivers, and trying to re-add the printer. If the issue continues, I would suggest resetting the printing system. Please use the attached article for more information.
Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X - Apple Support
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
    Best regards,
    Joe

  • Mac can not see time capsule

i bought Time capsule over Amazon .Air port works fine , but my mac can not see time capsule,,,sometime does , but most of the time not...
It is a problem with time capsule i have 2 T new generation

You don't mention what type of Mac you have, but is there any way you can move it around to see if that affects the problem?  If you hold down an "option" key while you pull down the AirPort/WiFi menu bar item, you should see a value labeled "RSSI" that is the strength of the wireless signal.   A value closer to zero is stronger.  For example, -30 is decent but -80 is poor.
By the way, you don't seem to have declared any of your system details in your profile or didn't select your details to be included in your post.  Those can help people give you correct advice.  To update that, click on "Your Stuff" near the top of a window on these discussion groups, then on "Profile".  Scroll down to "My Products" and either edit an existing one or add a new one.

  • My Mac Can't See Files on External Hard Drive

    Hi,
I'm having some trouble with my iMac today. It can't see any files on my NTFS External Hard Drive after a sharing change, I'm using Paragon NTFS for Mac OSX v8.0.0.
Yesterday evening I tried to share the drive over my network by clicking System Preferences / Sharing / File Sharing and then adding the drive as a shared folder. It is since doing this that I cannot see my files on this external HD. I have a second NTFS HD here which I connected and I can see the files on that drive so I don't think it's a software issue.
I have tried a few things to try and fix it but to no avail.
    1. I have tried removing it from the shared folder list but that hasn't solved the problem. I tried adding it a second time just in case but that didn't do anything either.
    2. I have repaired the disk permissions via disk utility
    3. I have tried "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall Finder" to show hidden files but they still don't appear. I have reversed this so hidden files are no longer visible.
If I connect the drive to my Windows 7 laptop I can see and access all of the files.
I hope someone can help out with this issue. If you need any other information just let me know.
    Kind regards,
    Kim

I had the same problem but only after I upgraded to Lion. I could see the files on my external drive on other Macs using older software. It seems that Lion wasn't seeing old files on the external drive. So we accessed the files on a Mac using Snow Leopard, copied all the files into one new folder on the same external hard drive and now they're there on Lion. Problem solved! I hope this helps

  • Mac can't see some shared Windows subfolders

I'm trying to copy all my pics and music from my old PC (running XP) to a new iMac. I shared both the My Music and My Pictures folders on the PC, and the iMac can see and access both folders. However, the Mac cannot see all the subfolders within those shared folders:
    1. The iMac missed (seemingly randomly) 31 of 871 subfolders in My Music while I was using the Add to Library function in iTunes. It tried accessing the missing shared subfolders directly via Finder, and could not see them on the Mac.
    2. The iMac cannot see any of the 20 subfolders or 10 files in My Pictures.
All of the share settings on the two shared folders are identical. And there's nothing unique about any of the invisible subfolders within the PC's My Music folder - they just can't been seen on the Mac. I have 3 other PCs on the network that can all see all the shared folders.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

On a whim, I tried enabling Simple File Sharing on the Windows PC (I had been setting up everything manually, so I could customize access, etc.), and this did the trick. I must have set something up that my Mac didn't like, but I'm not sure what it was...
You can do this by opening My Computer, then Tools >> Folder Options >> View >> Advanced Settings >> Use Simple File Sharing.

  • Pc and Mac can't see eachother

    Hello,
For some reason, when I open Finder on my MacBook Pro, I don't see any of the computer anymore that are in my network. I have a network with a few other windows PC's in it and this MBP and I remember I always saw other PC's showing up automatically in the left sidebar of my Finder. For some reason, they're all gone. They are supposed to show up automatically there right? Or at least I can't remember having to add them manually.
Also, on my Windows PC, I can't see my MBP anymore. Neither am I able to print anymore from my MBP to a printer connected to a Windows PC and shared on the network. Any suggestions why this is and how to solve it?
The reason I came up with this is that I'm trying to set up streaming. I have a Mede8er connected to my network on which I can see my Windows PC, but not my Mac.
    Weird huh?
Hope you can help! Any more info needed please let me know.
    Cheers,

Not weird at all. Mac OS X isn't that friendly of a Networking OS. Have you rebooted the Mac lately? If not give that a try first. Then Reboot the Win PCs. Then give the Mac a few minutes to see the Windows PCs and the Win PCs to see the Mac.
On my MBP I get my Win PCs usually a few minutes after I wake the Mac up or start it up. It is not instantaneous.
It could also have something to do with the AV or Firewall or Internet security program you have installed on the Win PCs. They are known to Block all network connections at any time for NO good reason.

  • Two Macs can't see each other on same network

We have an iMac and a Mac Book Pro on the same apple network at home. The iMac can see and connect to the Pro and exchange files but the Pro can't see the iMac in Go > Network. All sharing settings are the same. Any thoughts welcomed.

How many machines are on your network? If you have over 7, then here should be an entry called "All..." in Shared in the Sidebar. Click on that. It will show you all the servers that are available on your network. You can also get to this list via Computer (Command-Shift-C) and click on Network.
Shared in the sidebar shows a max of 7 servers, with Back To My Mac's at the top (if any), then servers you have mounted share points on (if any), then the top 7 (in alphabetical order) servers in Network (a.k.a. "All...").
    Hope that helps.

  • Mac  can't see HD when booting from CD

I just bought a used Powermac G4(MDD) single core 1.25Ghz w/256Mb of ram and an 80Gb HD from a school sale and decided to reinstall OS 10.0.3. When I finally got the installer to come up(after numerous kernal panics) it couldn't see my HD. Booting w/9.2 disc didn't do it either so I moved my system folder to my flash drive and attempted to boot off of it. It then saw the HD and I initialized it and did the write zeros thing and still nothing. I replaced the HD but quickly found no conventional means to format it seeing as it couldn't see that one either period and I could find no third-party programs to do so. I'm not inexperienced as far as technology goes as I am a computer technician but I know fairly little about Macs and bought this to see what all the hype is about. So far it's been fairly disappointing:(
I'm sure a working one is much more enthralling:) Anyway...any input would be most appreciated. Thanks!

    Thanks for the help.
I've tried the disk utilites..none of them can see the drive while I'm booting off the CD and the system profiler can't see it either. The software I'm using didn't come w/my Mac, I got it randomly when I bought it out of a box of software. I assumed that any OS disk would work with any Mac(excluding system requirements). Do I need to buy a new copy or is it my Mac? Where is this list of minimum OS's or each Mac? That could be the problem as I'm using OS 9.2.2 and OS 10.1.3. I'm not going to upgrade my system as I just wanna play with it and learn what's apparently so great about Macs.

  • Mac can't see company's internal website

I have a MBPro with WinXP in VMware. My can cannot 'see' our company's internal webiste. I am supposed to be able to type "pronet" and it takes me to my company's internal website. When I type in in my mac browser it takes me to an external website, but when I type it in a windows web browser in VMware it takes me to the right place. Any ideas?

    Justin Andrews wrote:
It sounds like pronet is the intranet name, so in the address bar you simply type "pronet".
If this is the case, the reason the Mac may not see it is due to DNS. The Mac must be communicating with your local DNS servers (and the same servers as your Windows system).
Open up System Preferences and open up Network, make a note of the DNS servers that are listed in DNS Server (for your active network interface - probably Ethernet or Airport).
Then compare those values with your Windows system, open up the Run dialog and type cmd then type in ipconfig /all in the command prompt. You will see the DNS servers listed for your Windows computer.
If they are different, that's most likely your problem, as that is what it sounds like to me, you may have to go in and manually add something to your Mac DNS. It's also possible the Windows system has the IP address of pronet plugged into it's HOSTS file. Which you would have to configure on the Mac as well then.
    DNS, or WINS?
The mac isn't resolving intranet names because it does not recognize netBIOS names, and does not use WINS (to resolve netbios names.)
If the XP side is not configured for the correct WINS server, it will not be able to resolve the intranet name, either.
The WINS issue can be fixed by adding the IP and name to the HOSTS file on the mac. At one point, adding the windows WINS server to the DNS list in the network configuration on the mac alos worked.
