MAC: color management failure. Mac OSX 10.4.3 compatible with PS Elements 2.0?

Can't print directly from PS Elements 2 on my Mac: G5 single 1.8GHz processor; 1.5Meg RAM; over 220 gig free space on hard drive; Mac OSX 10.4.3; Epson Photo R800 printer and paper with Epson ICC profiles installed and working.
PSE 2 slaughters the color on printout (this shows up in preview, too). I've downloaded and installed the "Ignore EXIF Color Space" plug-in, it loads during PSE 2 startup, but the sRGB color space is still indicated in the PSE 2 print dialogues.
A second problem: iPhoto indicates that files written by PSE 2 (.psd or .jpeg) are unreadable and will not open them.
However, I can open these PSE 2 files and print them with the Mac Preview application and everything seems to work ok. This all feels like an incompatibility issue between PSE 2 and Mac OSX 10.4.3. Will I have to buy PSE 3? (Although the Adobe web site only says PSE 3 is compatible with Mac OS X v.10.2.8 or v.10.3; there is no mention of "or higher" or of Mac OSX 10.4.3 in particular.)

Thank you for your helpful and quick advice.
Unfortunately, I did not have the latest version of Disk Warrior. Your probably right that zeroing the drive was overkill, but what a great feeling to start over! I feel like I just took a shower, broke up with my girlfriend, and moved to Italy to start a new life.
I went ahead and installed a retail version of OSX 10.4.3 and I am back up and running. I am going to stay a away from the latest OSX software updates for now to see how things play out.

Zeroing is not necessary in most cases. A bad node
can frequently be repaired by Alsoft Disk Warrior
(assuming your data is backed up). If your data
isn't backed up, a bad node can often be read through
by Prosoft Data Rescue.
If I didn't catch you in time to stop your zeroing,
if installing the operating system you have
difficulty with zeroing, then perhaps the drive has
failed or its connector has failed. Be sure when you
go to install to only install the operating system
that came with the computer or a newer retail
operating system.

  • Color Management on MAC OS

Question: Currently, we are working on our HW Calibration SW on MAC OS. However, after we have applied our newly created profile as the default profile of the target display, the screen have changed. (For example, even if I have calibrated target display with 1.8 target gamma, if I apply our newly created profile as the default profile, the gamma of the target display have changed to 2.2 gamma.)
Is this situation is normal on MAC OS? Otherwise, is there anyway to prevent this situation? Even if I have applied Linear VGCT tag to our newly created profile, this situation was always happened. Is there any MAC OS API to disable or bypass the color management of MAC OS?
Please help me to find an answer of this situation.
Calibration Step of our Calibration SW for Hardware Calibration.
    Steps:
Set "Linear ICC Profile" profile which as the Default profile of target display.
Do Gamma Calibration (Find target Gamma value)
Do White point Calibration. (Find target Color Temperature)
Do Brightness Calibration (Find target Brightness)
    Check calibration result status.
Comment: After we complete to do calibration, our Calibration SW measured current status of target display whether it have reached to target Brightness, Gamma and Color Temperature or not.
Generate new ICC profile which applied current status of target display. (This profile contain Linear VCGT tag.)
Adjust "Newly created ICC profile" as the default profile of the target display.
Commrnt: The below problem was happened after the default profile have changed to Newly created profile.
    Problem:
After I configured this newly created ICC profile as the default profile, I have re-checked current status of target display. At this time the gamma value have returned to 2.2. (Example: Before I set newly created ICC profile, the current Gamma was 1.8, howver, after the newly created profile have configured to Default profile, the Gamma value have changed to 2.2)
Please give me any feedback about this situation? Is there any other MAC API to handle this situation? Otherwise, is this situation is normal in MAC OS environment?

I suggest posting this on the Aperture forum, that is where all the color management experts hang out.

  • Disable color management on Mac

    Hello,
    I have a PIXMA Pro-1 that I run under OS X 10.9.1.
In order to print a target image to create a custom ICC file, I need to disable the Color Management of the printer/driver.
(I cannot print with the Color Management Tool Pro because the calibration device is not supported and I need to print a custom target file)
How to disable it on a Mac?
    Thank you!

It seems you should print tbe chart image uisng Photoshop. This is the oly means of selecting Canon in Color Matching. Color Management is not available and has apprently been turned off/.

  • Is a Mac Power PC (not Intel) on OSX 10.5.8 compatible with FF4?

I have a Mac Power PC G5 (i.e. pre Intel) and I am using OSX 10.5.8. My current Firefox is 3.6.24 and they tell I should upgrade, I guess to FF 4, but tech. spec. recommends Mac Intel. Is a Power PC compatible with FF4? Thanks

No, Firefox 3.6.x. is the last version of Firefox from Mozilla for PPC Mac's.
    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4+ versions, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

  • Print Studio Pro plugin is not compatible with Photoshop Elements 12 Editor for Mac

It appears that the latest version of Print Studio Pro PlugIn is not compatible with the Editor version of Photoshop Elements 12 for Mac as available on the App store.  The install gives an error saying that it did not find a supported version of Photoshop Elements. This error has been reported before for Elements version 12 but was reportedly fixed in the latest version of Print Studio Pro. Now it appears that this version may support Elements 12 for Mac but not the Editor only version from the app store. Any suggestions for work-around on this?

"Any suggestions for work-around on this?"
    No!
Not untill Mac and Adobe and Canon get their collective acts together.  Mac (Apple) has the bad habit of upgrading their stuff and not being forthcoming with the particulars given to 3rd party companies like Canon and Adobe.
Besides the cost difference of Mac's the compatibility issues are it's worst features.

  • Is OSX Mountain Lion Server Compatible with Snow Leopard

Is Mountain Lion Server compatible with Clients running on Snow Leopard?

We haven't had any problems with Home Directories hosted on 10.8.2 on a small number ol 10.6 clients. The only issue is that you can't use Workgroup Manager 10.8 on the 10.6 machines to allow 10.6-only apps. If you have a mixture of 10.6, 10.8 or 10.7 clients the user's prefs for things like Mail get screwy due to the different schema.

  • Does anyone know if Contribute 6.5 is compatible with Mac OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks?

I need to edit my web site but I have now upgraded my Mac. Any ideas?

Did you update to the new Mac OS, Yosemite? I understand it's not compatible with Yosemite and have been trying to find out if Adobe is even working on an update. I finally found a site I could link to and asked the question and they said no it's not compatible and could not tell me if Adobe was working on an update for us Mac users. I would like to use Yosemite but not if it's not compatible with Contribute 6.5. I am contemplating buying a new Mac and of course it will have Yosemite on it. I'm looking in to finding some other web building software. If Adobe is monitoring this Blog how about some information.

  • Elements 10-color management settings

Using Elements 10 with MAC; color management settings aren't available

My understanding is in the Print Command, there should be a Color Management option that gives you two options:
    -Printer manages colors
    -Photoshop Elements manages colors
In Print command, I don't have that option.

  • Disable color management

I've recently purchased a Spyder3 Print SR to calibrate my printer's color. In order to begin the calibration process, a page containing color patches must be printed WITHOUT COLOR MATCHING ENABLED in either the OS or the printer.
The I have an HP C6280 Photosmart printer and Max OS X 10.7.2, and I'm using the drivers included with Lion. I haven't been able to figure out how to turn off color management.
I've found videos on the vendor's website showing how to do this with Leopard and an earlier model HP printer, but I'm just not able to find the same options in Lion.
For reference purposes only, here's a ink to the video on the vendor's page: Turning off color management: HP B9180, OSX/Leopard
Can anyone help me to do the same thing in Lion?
    Thanks!
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
When you print the patches, the print dialogue will appear (of course). That's where you turn off color management. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything on how that dialogue appears. The manual for your printer just says:
To change the default print settings
    1. In the HP Solution Center, click Settings, point to Print Settings, and then click
    Printer Settings.
    2. Make changes to the print settings, and click OK.
Yeah, massive help there when the manual doesn't list the available settings. I was hoping to find something where you can disable automatic color adjustment at the printer permanently, but don't know if it's possible.
Anyway, look though the print dialogue and try to find any place where you can turn off ColorSync or any heading that says Color Management: Off. That also means, do not change any sliders that allow you to increase or decrease contrast, ink settings, or anything else. Make sure they are all at the defaults.

  • I need to use an older version of FireFox for the Mac (3.0) to be compatible with another program; how can I get it?

My company uses SalesForce CRM and recently changed wholesale to Macs. Unfortunately, certain functions in SalesForce are not compatible with the current version of Safari or any version of FireFox newer than 3.0 and we need to be able to use those functions. How can I download that version for the Mac?

There is also a portable Firefox 3.0 version via this link:
    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/osxportableapps/PortableFirefox_3.0_en-US-OSX_r4.0u.dmg?download
It can take some time before the download starts.
