Mac compatible scanners and HP Scanjet N6310

Does anyone know of a good resource for finding Mac compatible scanners and recent reviews of such scanners?
In particular does anyone have experience of using the HP ScanJet N6310 on a recent Mac. It is listed by HP as being OS 10.5 compatible and even has Mac versions of various software on its installation DVD. I have found a couple of reviews of it, but it is not clear that any of the reviewers were using a Mac. I am wondering how the Mac software and drivers work.

IMAC 24" screen went dead. Can I buy a mac compatible monitor and still use the IMAC hard drive - which is still working? I took it to the Apple store and they quoted $500+to replace the monitor. No help as usual. Can I buy a MAC compatible monitor ($189) and use it as a primary monitor? Can I set it up if the screen on the IMAC is dead? Any other solutions?

The only negative to not having the original drive will be the work needed to reinstall all the apps and reconfigure to your liking. You will also have to decide whether to stay on Lion (which you should update to 10.7.4, BTW) or bite the bullet and take a leap of faith on Mountain Lion.
In either case, to simplify matters you would do well to concoct a Lion or ML bootable installer on a USB stick. In either case, you need to get the corresponding installer downloaded onto the hard drive and, instead of running it to execute the install, extract the coveted InstallESD.dmg image from which you construct the bootable installer. See here for details: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17782820#17782820  The procedure applies the same to both of the latest cat flavors.

  • Mac compatible scanner and ocr

I have a canoscan lide 35 scanner and it works fine, but I can't get image capture to play nice with it.
    Any fixes for image capture?
I have the drivers installed and it operated the scanner but Scan Gear doesn't work well to capture scans either. Does anyone know of any good software that would work with this hardware or is there any good Mac compatible flatbed scanner ?
I primarily scan text and would like good OCR software also. Any suggestions would be welcome.
    Regards

    Hiya,
I am using a Canon Lide 210 and have used Canon's own "Solutions EX" that should have been on the CD that came with your scanner. It works perfectly (I have just tried) and converts it into "text" or "pdf". With "text" you can work easily.
    Have you tried this?
NB: with any OCR, you will find, it's not faultless (close characters together are often "misspelt" as a different word, but textedit (where my OCR scans automatically open), highlights any typos errors in red underline.

  • Mac Compatible Scanners

Does anyone have a recommendation on a document scanner that is compatible with mac os X with twain drivers? I will be using it for document OCR with Adobe acrobat 8.0, but many of the scanners don't support twain so you have to scan the page, then move it to pdf then run the OCR.
has anyone tried any of the following scanners or have another recommendation?
    Fujitsu ScanSnap S500?
    HP ScanJet 7650??
    HP ScanJet 8270?
    Xerox DocuMate 152?

    Hi mhpp,
I've used the S500M. Very fast. Easy to use.I wouldn't run a photo thru it but for documents its unbeatable.I think this link will be able to give more info than I can here. I know they had some issues with Adobe acrobat 7. Since I only use it for pdf files your question about OCR use on the Mac, I can't answer. I believe its supportrd on the PC side. The S500M is the Mac model

  • Which video camera is mac compatible and suitable to record professional quality tutorials to be views on the internet?

Background:  I want to make proffesional quality video tutorials to be accessed by other internet users.  They will be filmed from a static overhead position.  My budget is £400 but if I can get a camera for less that would be great.  I have done my best to research which camera to buy and I am stuck (mainly because I have no knowledge of this field) with a few issues.
I thought I had found a suitable camera - Panasonic HCV-700 but I have identified a couple of issues surrounding Mac compatibility.
I would really appreciate any experience or advice you can give me.
I will be using imovie to edit my video and will probably add the sound after editing.
I understand this camera can film in iframe and that that makes it easily downloaded to imovie to edit.  If I do this will the quaility be high enough to be viewed on a PC or Mac - or other smaller devices?  I understand from what I have read iframe is not HD but is higher than SD.
Or is it better to film in another format (which as I understand it will need to have something done to it to be editable in imovie (not sure what or how much time it will add to the process of producing a video)
    I think my question's are:
Is the camera above suitable for my needs as a Mac user - to produce proffesional quality tutorials?
If it is not - what do you suggest?
If it is which format should I film in to record videos for internet viewing?
If it is not iframe then do I need other software to be able to edit in imovie?
How much extra time do you think this will add to production times?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated - I am starting to tear my hair out trying to research this!

  • How to save mac compatible ai eps and pdf on windows

how to save mac compatible ai eps and pdf on windows

    haykaz,
You can, but there may be no need. There is, or at least may be, a certain deterioration in appearance when you outline fonts, especially in connexion will small point sizes.
Rereading, I noticed the PDF part. Normally, the fonts are embedded in PDF and thereby platform independent.
Have you tried and found any issues?

  • Two scanners and one Mac

Is it possible to have two scanners working on one mac? Not at the same time but to have this possibility. I have one HP Multifunction 1610 and a EPSON Perfection 1260 with the transparency adapter, both are USB.
I use the HP for printing and ocasional scans but I need the EPSON because I have lots of slides to scan. I've installed the HP software but was wandering if installing the EPSON software would mess with the HP software or the system.
    Thanks for any suggestions

I've found VueScan. It supports both scanners and it's an standalone application. I'll give a it try but so far it seems perfect for what I need.

  • What is the best Mac-compatible Alternative to Quicken and why?

I made the jump to Apple desktops when my PC went on the fritz.  I was using Quicken 2013,  mostly for tracking accounts and forecasting spending, but not the higher end stuff like paying bills, tracking investments, etc.
I wanted to ask the group if anyone has experience with a Mac-compatible alternative to Quicken, especially one that imports Quicken qif files.  I'd also like to know what features you like best about said alternative.
(My entry may be a bit vague, so if you need more info to post a response, please ask.)

  • HP Scanjet N6310 - Unable to Colour Scan On Flatbed at 2,400 DPI

    Hi,
Recently I purchased a HP Scanjet N6310 scanner and have attempted to do an A4 size  high quality colour scan on the flatbed at 2,400 dpi. However, I get the following error in the Image Capture  software which says :"Scanner reported an error : The image size is too big. Please reduce the image height, width, resolution, scaling or output type". Am I correct to assume that this scanner has the spec of 2,400 dpi x 2,400 dpi ? IF that is correct as I believe it should be, then there must some reason for the error. I have seen some other posts in this Forum about the same issue, but the question still remains unresolved. I am using a MacPro (late 2013) with 32 GB of 1867 Mhz DDR3 memory and Mac OS X 10.9.4. Futher I have installed the lastest HP Scanjet Installer software, version 1.3.0, dated January 2014

  • HP Scanjet N6310 & HP Scanjet 5590 - Unable to Colour Scan On Flatbed at 2,400 DPI

    Hi,
Recently I purchased a HP Scanjet N6310 scanner and have attempted to do an A4 size  high quality colour scan on the flatbed at 2,400 dpi. However, I get the following error in the Image Capture  software which says :"Scanner reported an error : The image size is too big. Please reduce the image height, width, resolution, scaling or output type". I have expereinced exactly the same error message also using a HP Scanjet 5590. I supect the same error message may apply to all Scanjets using the Image Capture software on a Mac platform.
Am I correct to assume that both the N6310 and 5590 Scanjets have an optical spec of 2,400 dpi x 2,400 dpi ? IF that is correct as I believe it should be, then there must be some reason for the error. I have seen some other posts in the HP Forums about the same issue, but the question still remains unresolved. I am using a MacPro (late 2013) with 32 GB of 1867 Mhz DDR3 memory and Mac OS X 10.9.4. • Image Capture compatible scanners?

Does anyone know where to find a list of scanners that are supported by Image Capture? I can't seem to get my scanner to be recognized by it, and so far I haven't found whether it should be or not. It's a HP PhotoSmart all-in-one deal...
    Thanks!

This is what my Image Capture help says:
Image Capture works with scanners that have driver software for Mac OS X. It also works with some TWAIN-compatible scanners.
To find out if your scanner is compatible with Mac OS X, check with the scanner’s manufacturer, or go to the peripheral compatibility webpage.
To scan images using a TWAIN interface:
Install the latest software for your scanner.
The latest software may have come with your scanner or it may be on the website for the scanner’s manufacturer.
In Image Capture, choose Devices > Browse Devices. Under TWAIN devices, select your scanner, select Use TWAIN UI, and then click Connect.
If you don’t see this option, your scanner does not have a TWAIN interface.
To learn how to perform scans with the dialog that appears, see the documentation that came with your scanner.
