Mac crashed while I was editing in Lightroom 3.

My Mac crashed while working photos in Lightroom 3. Just installed 3 days ago. Running Lion. Any idea what the issue could be? I turned it off lastnight. Afraid to turn it back on at this point.

Mac crashes while importing / viewing photos in Lightroom

Does any one have any clue as to what might be causing my Mac to crash/stall when I am:
Using Lightoom to import files / viewing the files in library while they download. (It doesn't crash if I just leave it to download and don't view the files).
I'm downloading from high speed Lexar CF cards / using their pro CF card reader (in express port)
I'm working on a Mac Book Pro, running Lion!
Never had this problem when I used same cards / readers under Windows 7 64 bit in Lightroom!

Send the crash log to Adobe. The crash log can be had from the console app, or by looking in your CrashReporter folder in your Library.

I have the latest downloadable version of LR5. It crashed while it was createing 1:1 previews during an import. After a Win7(64) restart, it shows a message that LR needs to quit because it can't read the preview files and it will try to fix it the next

I get the same message the next and every subsequent time it launches so I can't launch LR at all now.
I get that the preview file got corrupted somehow. Is there some way to fix this problem without building a new catalog?

Use Windows Explorer to open the folder containing your catalog. You will see a folder with the extension .lrdata. You need to delete that folder and then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will generate a new previews folder.

Photoshop cs3 crashed while i was working on a file...

photoshop cs3 crashed while i was working on a file. i checked the temp folder and found a file that was modified the day it crashed. there is no extension and when i tried to open it in photoshop it said that it "could not complete my request because the file is in use or left open"... is my file hosed or is there a way to recover it? i was working on it for hours and like a dummy forgot to save it

Someone had posted a link to such a program, as Mike mentioned. It was "supposed" to be able to dissect and restore from PS TMP files. I do not have a link, and also do not know the $, nor how effective this might be. I'd do a search of this forum, trying words like PS TMP, and the like. It was not THAT long ago. Again, have no experience with it (or any other TMP reclamation apps.). Might be worth a try.
All other comments on doing various forms of Save/Save_As are good ones. I'd incorporate those into my workflow, if you have not already.
You might want to look at Stellar-Phoenix for file recovery. Depending on where you were, when the crash happened, you might be able to locate your older
b image
file on your HDD - or, you might not. Stellar-Phoenix had a trial. Seems that it would scan your HDD, but only the paid version would recover, if found. See if it finds something of use. I'd also do this,
b before
anything else overwrites that/those sector(s) on your HDD . Probably not going to help, but you never know. Just to be clear, Stellar-Phoenix is a data recovery tool and is NOT a PS TMP file extractor.

Mac crashes while typing.

This is weird. I've been having problems with my Mac crashing if I type in any sort of document operation. i.e. Text edit, PAGES, etc. It started when I was typing using the "Text Edit" program. I thought maybe I was just typing up too large of a draft for the program to handle so I then tried using my trial of Apple's "Pages" program. Same thing. I even downloaded a totally independent program and typing in it also caused my Mac to crash. It doesn't crash if I'm typing an email or anything online. For instance what I'm typing now would have already crashed my Mac if it were in any other program. I don't get any sort of warning or message. I'll just be typing and I'll hit a certain key and my Mac is suddenly off. It doesn't power down or anything. Just as if it were unplugged. Any help would be great. Thanks.

No, I don't hear or see anything before it happens. Absolutely nothing. One second I'm typing and the next it is completely shut down. I don't get any type of warning message or hear anything. Its just as if I were to unplug it from the wall. Then it is unresponsive when I try to turn it back on for a few seconds. Sometimes when I turn it back on the fan is running loudly and I have to shut it back down and reset it again by unplugging everything.

Mail and Address crashed while I was having trouble with new iWeb 1.1

While I was having trouble publishing my website with brand new iWeb 1.1 version that was just upgraded with all the upgrades 5/15/06 and after crashing that program as many people did (see iWeb discussion group), that is crashing about 15 times, my Mail program changed, losing all my old mail and account. And holy moly, all my Address program data is gone!!! What could have happened!!! can I get anything back! Never crashed Address like this before - this is a disaster! any help?

Since updating to PPro 5.5.2, Premiere crashes while attempting to load the Tiffen filters. Updated to Tiffen's most recent release 3.0.4.1 but crashes whenever I attempt to launch PPro.

Need to re-download CS3 after mac crash. It was in My Downloads last week, and now it's gone.

I logged in to Adobe earlier this month and was about to re-download the CS3 Web Premium onto my new hard drive, but I didn't have the time (8 hours it said it would take). I re-logged in today and now it isn't showing the downloads. I can no longer click on the order #, but was able to last week. Did they remove them in the last week?!? Is it because I hadn't logged in to Adobe in awhile, and by re-logging in last week, it noticed and deleted them? Please help. This is for a small school and we can't afford to buy a new product. The CS3 worked fine until my computer crashed. Thanks.

Pages '08 crashes while trying to edit tables and charts

Pages '08 crashes if I try to edit the contents of a cell in a table or if I try to edit charts. It only happens while editing not copy-pasting data.

I had the same problem on Ipad Pages. I copied the entire document and pasted it into a newly created Ipad Pages doc and so far it is working again. Good luck.

I have had recurrent problems with my computer crashing for the past several months that I was not able to fix. I was downloading and installing updates for Firefox when the computer suddenly and completely crashed - just an immediate shutdown. When I was able to reboot it, Firefox would no longer open, and I got the following error message, along with the 'bong' sound or an error: C:\ProgramFiles\MozillaFirefox\js3250.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error...." Do you have a PowerPC processor or an Intel processor?
Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and a Mac with an Intel processor.
