Mac crashing and kernal_task taking up high ram

So my computer has crashed twice in the past 3 days, for the first time since I've had it. The reports say google chrome helper is to blame, but it doesn't cause any problems on normal use. Also, the activity monitor is showing some interesting info, like most of my ram being used by basic tasks.
Does anyone know if these are confirmed bugs, and if so, why are they using so much RAM? Also, how can i prevent my computer from constantly crashing?

I believe if you were to ask Adobe Support they would tell you that CS3 is no longer supported by their services, if that is what you are refering to when you say "being supported". That means they are not likely to offer assistance with you re-establishing it.
But you can probably re-establish it yourself. If you need to download it there is a place for that available:

What I get is that there Configuration Error. It is telling me to uninstall and reinstall the product. If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen. Error 6.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Mac crashes and doing weird things randomly.

Its really hard to explain
so I took a photo of the screen when my mac crashed before.
First, it freezes
then i cant do anything at all since the pixels starts to go weird and shakes????
change into diff colours and squares.......
I had trouble telling this to the technician over the phone.

Hi viish and welcome to the discussions
It would be worth checking that the memory chips are bedded into their sockets properly - see the instruction booklet that came with the machine on how to remove the memory card.
The other cause could be the Graphics Processor itself and that is a job for an Apple trained technician.

How do I restore iTunes after a Mac crash (and Apple ID change)?

Can anyone please help me with some advice about how to restore my iTunes purchases after my Mac crashed. Its a bit more complicated than it sounds given that I changed my Apple ID about 18months before the crash. All purchases under the current Appled ID have been restored. However, everything that I bought under my first Apple ID has not been restored. How can i get this fixed?

My Mac crashed and I need help... Seriously!

I have had this problem in the past and I am very lucky that I got it running. My Mac freezes which causes me to hold the power button to shut it down manually. When I go to restart it, it stays on the gray screen with the spinning wheel. I have held the Shift key to make it into safe mode and sometimes it works and I can have partial access to my computer. Other times when I do that it does nothing. As of right now, I managed to get it into some sort of mode and it is showing my background and the rainbow wheel [which is supposed to be my cursor]. I have gone into Single-user mode (Command-S) and Verbose Mode (Command-V). Each time I go into Single-User mode it always stops at ":/ root#" and I have no idea what to type in next. When I go into Verbose mode it says "disk0s2 media is not present." many times.
The first time it happened to me I had no idea what to do and did not think about searching on the Internet for answers. It then led me to drive about 1 and 1/2 hours to the nearest Apple store to get it fixed. Since Apple fixed it, I lost EVERYTHING and it was in the middle of the school year (perfect timing... not). The second time it happened I managed to get it working and I haven't had any problems until now.
I want someone to help me get it into safe mode or normal mode without me losing everything. If/when I get it working, the first thing I would do is back up everything to an external hard drive (I do not have one yet). Any help is highly appreciated!

First you are posting in the wrong forum, your profile indicates you have a MacBook, this is an iMac forum. Next you should NEVER NEVER NEVER shut down with the power button. If your system freezes attempt to force quit the offending application, you can force quit by using the Apple Menu or pressing Command + Option + Esc. Or you can always leave Activity Monitor running and when it freezes check AM to see if you have anything taking all your CPU, if so quit that action.
I suspect your HD has crashed, you should run Apple Hardware Test in Extended Mode. Make sure you run in Extended Mode! If it reports errors then you need to boot from the OS X disc that came with the computer or the latest retail OS X disc you have and run Disk Utilities - Repair Disk. If it finds errors run it over again until it reports no errors. After 4-5 runs of Repair Disk it still reports errors you need to replace the HD.
If you want to try to Boot to Safe Mode the instructions are in Safe Mode.

Creative Cloud desktop App for Mac crashes and does not work

Installed creative cloud for MAC (running OSX 10.9). App does not run. I see the Creative Cloud icon at top of screen (in menu) for about 0.5 seconds then it disappears. No error messages or warnings. I have tried to uninstall and install the desktop app many times with the same results. It appears there is no way to download the LR CC and PS CC that I paid for.
I have even tried to run this from another dmim account. Same error.
I have run disk utility - repair disk and repair permissions.
Please can someone help me with this issue?

Are you getting Error code 1 while running CreativeCloudInstaller.dmg file ?
If so , follow below steps :
Important : Launch Activity Monitor and "Force Quit" all the process related to Adobe like Creative Cloud setup, CoreSync, AAMupdater, AAMupdater notifier, Adobe Crash demon from Activity monitor.
1)
Click on the Finder and look for the options listed next to Apple Icon located at the top left corner of the Desktop screen and click on "Go" menu button and select "Utilities" option.
(Applications>Utiliites)
Locate Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Application Manager folder under Utilities window and trash both folders.

Click on the below link and download & run Adobe Cleaner tool :

Acrobat Pro XI for Mac crashed and now says trial is over

Earlier today I downloaded and installed Acrobat Pro XI for Mac on my MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch early 2013 running OS X 10.9.4. I compared two documents. While skimming the comparison document, Acrobat seemed unstable, e.g. when I tried to select text to copy Acrobat would freeze and show the spinning pinwheel for a minute or two. When I finished skimming the comparison, I closed the file, and clicked "don't save," it crashed. When I restarted Acrobat, it told me the evaluation period was over.

It is unlikely for an application crash to eliminate the trial days usage.

Dreamweaver CS4 for Mac crashes and freezes

I couldn't find other postings related to this, but if I
missed something, please let me know! I've been working with CS4

freeze, forcing me to do a hard reboot. Because I was working on a
deadline, I stopped using CS4 and went back to CS3 for a few days.
I then went back to CS4 to see if I could figure out what was
wrong, and wasn't able to replicate the problem. It worked great
for a little over a week.
No for the past few days, I'm experiencing the same problem.
It doesn't happen right away and I can usually open a few pages and
work with them before I notice the problem . . . but after working
for a short amount of time, if I try to switch to another
application or use any of the items on the main tool bar (File,
Edit, etc), my computer stops responding. I can usually get a few
quick commands in, like saving the file by doing a ctl-S, before it
freezes completely, and then am left having to do a hard reboot.
And every once in a while, the application will complete
crash when I try to open a file. it doesn't seem to matter which
one, it's pretty random. I prefer it when it crashes so I don't
have to reboot my computer.
Adobe does have a knowledge base article at

but so far nothing I have done has helped. I've gotten through item
18 on the list, with the exception of 14 and 15, and I wasn't
really sure what I was looking for with 16 (review the Console
logs).
Before I do anything more drastic, I thought I'd post
something to see if anyone else has thoughts on what to check. In
all actuality, instead of taking this any further, I will likely
just go back to CS3 until I hear more about updates or fixes.

Well, this is my third attempt at fixing this problem. Each
time, the application works flawlessly for a few days and then
gradually starts to freeze and crash intermittently until it
finally completely freezes each and every time I try to open a
file.
Here is a recap of what I've tried:
- Troubleshooting tasks (1) - (19), (22), (23), and (28) from

- Reducing the display resolution seemed to work for about
two weeks, but then gradually the problem started happening again.
- Reinstalling my system software worked for about two days.
- My most recent "fix" was to change the configuration of my
sites within DW. Up until now, I've either been accessing files off
of a network drive (directly, not from within a defined DW "site),
or through a DW site where the local folder was a network drive.
When I copied the files from the harddrive to my desktop and opened
them in DW, I didn't have any problems. I was also able to get a
co-worker who has a brand new MBP with a fresh install test and
confirm the same problem.

which is old, but once I changed my site configuration so that the
local folder was something on my HD and the remote folder was the
network drive, I haven't had a freeze once. Now, it's only been 2
hours, so I'll reserve my excitement.

I would consider updating SteerMouse to the current 4.1.1 version. To see what's going on:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu. Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order. If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar. Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process. See if that helps. Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
Also, you can boot into Safe Mode. In safe mode all the third-party extensions listed above will be disabled. If this problem ceases, then you know it's one or more of them. I would certainly start by uninstalling these:
Sophos
BlueCoat
LittleSnitch
The panic was registered as happening in the BlueCoat extension, so you may want to uninstall it before anything else.
