Mac desktop frozen blue screen

Need help with frozen blue screen during start up.  I have Mac Desktop.  Any ideas please?

Try booting in Safe Mode.  Power down the Mac, wait 10 seconds, reboot the system... when you hear the system chime, hold down the shift key.  Don't press the shift key before the chime, just after you hear it.  Release the shift key once the Apple logo appears.
To leave Safe Mode, just restart your Mac but don't hold the shift key down during the boot process.

  • How to start MacAir with frozen blue screen and no light on keyboard?

How do I start my MacAir with frozen blue screen and no light on keyboard?

    Hey 7manya,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing an issue with your MacBook Air frozen on a blue screen. The following resource provides some troubleshooting steps that may help to resolve your issue:
OS X Mavericks: If you see a blue screen at startup
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14061
If you see a blank blue screen or a blue screen with a colored pinwheel when you try to start your Mac, but starting up doesn’t progress, you may have a problem with damaged or incompatible startup items or software.
    - If you are starting up from a DVD, it must be a disc that came with your Mac or OS X retail package. Discs from other Mac models may not work with your Mac.
    - Restart your Mac in safe mode. If the Mac successfully starts up in safe mode, choose Apple menu > Restart to see whether the Mac will restart normally.
    Start up in safe mode
    - If you see the login window prompting you for a user name and password, but starting up doesn't progress, you may have incompatible login items.
If you think you have incompatible login items
    - Repair your startup disk or disk permissions using Disk Utility.
    Repair a disk
    - Back up your disk, then reinstall OS X.
    Reinstall OS X
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • HELP!!!! No Log in window on start up/ mac loads to blue screen

I have a mac book pro with snow leopard os....
I don't know the exact make but it was brought brand new in 2009....
Today when I turned my mac on it loaded up the mac start up screen but just went to a blue screen so I can't log on.
    I have tried safe start
    holding cmd + shift
as well as holding cmd p + r + power button
    but no hope...
i am at uni so I do not have the start up disks. (also if i do get the start up disks will i lose all my work?)
I am so desperate and lost for what to do... there's no mac store here either. I need my mac working
I am so desperate for help
    aaargh! what can i do???

Is your disk making a bad noise? (Yesterday I had a machine with exactly that symptom accompanied by a nasty disk noise. Popped it open and put in a spare drive that had been taken out of another system, booted off of the new drive and the old drive mounted on the desktop. Ran Migration Assistant and got everything off of the old drive, and within a few minutes of it finishing, the noise stopped, the drive disappeared and a warning panel came up complaining that we had dismounted it improperly, and it was permanently gone. Are we lucky or what?!?)
The other thing which I seen with laptops is that disks and memory have a habit of working their way out of place by a few microns over time. A loose disk would boot into a flashing question mark folder, while loose memory does the blue screen thingy. If it is easy to get to your memory, take it out and push it back in, making sure that you really get it in there. If that doesn't work, you may have bad memory stick -- try taking one out and seeing if it will boot with the other one, and if not, put that one back in and try taking the other one out. Look around the support site to find out the instructions for getting your particular model of computer open to get access to the memory.

  • Frozen Blue Screen at Power On

I just got a Imac mini from one of my friends and he doesnt have any install cd's or anything. i think its a first generation mac and he said before it started messing up it had os x 10.2
but my problem is when i turn on the computer it get frozen at the blue screen i can move the mouse and everything but it doesnt give me the option to put in a password or nothing. it stays at the blue screen
Can i reboot the hard drive? What do i have to do? How can i get restore or install cd's? Can this be fixed with a new hard drive and OS X Package?
imac mini   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

A good assortment of drives suitable for the original G4 Mac mini can be found at http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/mac-mini/hard-drives/
For the later Intel-based mini, suitable drives are listed at http://eshop.macsales.com/Search/Search.cfm?Criteria=MAcminiSATA&x=14&y=15&Manufacturer=
If you don't know which model you have, look at the back. 2 USB ports means it's a G4, while 4 means it's an Intel.
In either case, upgrading is not hard, but it is fiddly, Getting the casing open requires a couple of thin, flexible putty knives though once inside drive replacement is pretty straightforward. There are photographic and video guides for either system on the internet, including from a link at http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/mac-mini/

    Hi,
In general, event ID 1530 means there are some data in the user profile are still be accessed when the user log
off from the Terminal Server. Please check if any of the data is still remained in the user profile supposed to be deleted. You can use Process Monitor or Process Explorer in order to find the software which is using the data and find the solution. If there
is no such data remained, the Windows have possibly stopped the process and deleted the data when log off. In such a case, you can ignore the Event 1530.
In addition, I recommend running SFC /Scannow from an elevated command prompt and check a dump file for Windows
    Explorer under C:\Localdumps.
    Besides, you can also download
Autoruns to troubleshooting Explorer issues. Please run Autoruns as Administrator, go to Options menu, Filter, select Hide Microsoft Entries and Ok. After that, open the Explorer tab,
and you will see all DLL that are running inside File Explorer, so start disabling and testing if Explorer crashed.

  • Frozen blue screen login screen

    Good day to all,
I returned to an open screen digitized and frozen, when I rebooted I got through the grey Apple screen to blue where it appeared to freeze. I reset pram and smu, I can enter in safe mode and also with the original installer disc- where everything seems to be fine. While there I have verified s.m.a.r.t. status, repaired permissions, hard drive and logic board are all reporting fine, but reboot leaves me at the blue screen. I have reinstalled Leopard with an erase and install (where the welcome music plays behind the blue screen). I have gone through the forum and seen things like this but their solutions haven't worked for me- any ideas please!

Hi and thank you for your response,
My hard drive previously had about 20-25% of space left, but I have reinstalled the Leopard disc with an erase and install, so space isn't the problem at this time. I can login in Safe Boot and here is what terminal says to the blue screen failed login (wish I knew what it meant):

  • Mac Freezes on Blue Screen After Installing Updates! Help!

    hi
Have just done the updates that were available for my wifes mac mini. All went well and it said restart to complete. I did this but when it restarted it would not get past the blue screen, the mouse cursor is there and moving but thats all.
Now my problm is i haven't got a clue about mac's, the wife is away and don't want to tell her that i've managed to trash her Mac as she has got quite a bit on there. If it was windows it would be fine as am happy with that but it isn't and i am stuck!!!!!(read dead if i can't sort it out before she gets back!!)
Now what i want to know is how can i basically get it back to where it was before installing the updtaes or can i get back to a state of working without deleting anything progs installed etc? With windows you can use there system restore after booting in safe mode. Is there a way i can do it with the mac or something along those lines.
i know this is probably a pain post but i am stuck
Cheers in advance for any help
Mac Mini 1.66GHZ INTEL Dual Core   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

The only way to get back to a state before the updates is if a backup was made.
As for booting in safe mode, you can try holding the shift key.
If that works, it says that some attached peripheral needs an updated driver. Remove all third party peripherals, and see if it boots.
If It doesn't boot, it is likely the directory is damaged, or the hard drive is very full, or the hard drive might be dying. You can also try zapping the PRAM:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
Unfortunately there is no way to tell the difference between the above possibilities, and if you use a directory repair utility on a dying hard drive, it may speed its death. How valuable is her data to her, and is it backed up anywhere?

  • Mac book pro blue screen

I have bought macbook pro 3years ago and now i see some kind of stupid color in my screen , and my laptop is also crashes down and i can see blue screen and sometime yellow screen with blue stripes and also horizon tall , i wonder whats wrong ?

You may have to take the computer to the Apple store to have it checked out.
Before that you can try resetting PRAM and SMC.
    Startup in Safe Mode.

  • Have an HP Pavilion p6540y & it has continually locked, frozen & blue screened us to no end. Help!

I have an HP Pavilion p6540y just over a year old (ie no more warranty) & it continually locks, feeezes and blue screens us to death. We have reloaded windows 7, reloaded Office & in the last 2 weeks changed out the hard drive.
Also have updated with latest BIOS software & done all recommended steps to stop "sleep" issues
Any solution? Or is HP unable to build reliable products & support them when they crash.

Ok, well, I called the tech support here in athens greece, and what did the guy told me? that I have to get the recovery cds as long as I deleted the recovery partition and did not make any recover y cd before deleting it. Fair enough I told him, I can understand this, but, I told, are you sure I am going to be able to actually install an os on this computer, cause I've already tried to install windows vista home premium, but the same thing happens, it return the same error as with windows 7 and xp! He said, yes, you're going to succeed, so I told him, ok, that means that there must be some kind of block inside the computer, most probably inside the bios, that prevents the installation of anything except the exact copy of the os that was preinstalled, and he didn't know exactly what to tell me, but more or less he told me yes, there is! Is that right, could the bios be blocking the installation of any other os? I can see in the bios that it says "preinstalled os: vista" something I've never seen in any other computer, but, can they do it? And why is this guy so sure the problem is that I was not using the recovery cds with the pre installed version of the os, couldn't be a cd/dvd drive problem? I have to pay for those recovery cds, what if it gives the same problem with those too?
Also I wanted to ask if someone knows how to make a bootable cd with the bios update, I mean which files should I extract from the exe, where and with what do I have to put them, etc., if someone coud please help me at least updating the bios, I could try installing the os from a usb key, so that I could tell for sure if it's a problem of the dvd drive.
    Thanks.

  • Windows 7 on new Mac Pro is blue-screening

    New 3.33 hexacore MP
I have two 1tb drives software raided to create a 2tb striped drive. I have a third drive that I'm trying to create as a Windows drive under bootcamp. I can install 7 under bootcamp with no issues. Then I install the drivers from the OS X install disc and reboot.
Then the problems begin. Blue screen after blue screen. I'm trying to figure out what's up?? Can 7 be run on a different volume? Can it be run on a different volume via bootcamp from a software raid?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

AppleHFS or that the Apple drivers aren't updated for Mid-2010.
Most of those who do have 7 on its own hard drive. Just need to pull other drives during the install.
No software RAID for Windows 7 OS (other than a Windows RAID controller).
Rollback, uninstall, and update Windows 7 fully, including AMD driver, RealTek I think is needed for audio. Create a restore point.
You can install Windows 7 without touching Boot Camp Assistant or using Apple drivers. You'll want HAL in order to have some support though.
Not sure if this is where the problem lies. I assume you either
    A) left the RAID drives (not a great idea)
    B) pulled the RAID
    C) Windows had done all its updating etc before you ran Apple SETUP.exe Boot Camp
    *Rename AppleHFS.sys and AppleMNT.sys*
By doing the following you will disable HFS mount / read mode on windows XP, Vista, 7.
Navigate to c:/windows/system32/drivers/AppleMNT.sys, rename the AppleMNT.sys file to something like AppleMNT_keep.sys or something of your likings.
The faulty HFS driver is a valid concern. It seems to happen on many systems.
    You find it in Windows/system32/drivers/AppleHFS.sys
Renaming to AppleHFS_disabled.sys will avoid the blue screens until you have found another solution or Apple updates Bootcamp 3
After renaming both myself because they are no longer "*.sys" or something? they are gone. In my case AppleHFS prevented Windows Backup from running to end and was causing error "some files skipped" and while some might find reading convenient, I prefer Windows not have even read-only access.
You can probably do better with MacDrive8.

  • Mac Mini and blue screen.

I've had my mini for just over a month now, and in recent weeks my screen has started to go entirely blue at random intervals and not clear. I'm left with no icons, no mouse, no programs, yet I get sound (although any control of it is delayed by about 30 secs to a minute). I have reinstalled ALL my software, made sure everything I download is virus checked, checked all the connections at the back of the computer etc; yet it continues to do it.
It doesnt seem to be related to any certain activity, program, volume, display options or anything else i could find to check. Sometimes it happens right after startup, and sometimes when it is woken up, but generally it is when I am using it; which forces me to restart by the power button and lose whatever i was working on.
As I said I can find no problem with the software, which leaves me to assume its the mac. I have coursework needing done at the moment and so I would rather avoid having to send it away. Does anyone know what may cause this?
    Thanks.

Well, there is a known "feature" in the ATI graphics that prevents it from working properly with certain monitors if the pixel clock exceeds 135MHz (when using DVI). I had something similar to what you describe, but it didn't take a month for it to happen in my case. For me the problem was immediate, so I don't know for sure if it is the same issue.
As far as I know, if that is the issue you are having, the only way to get around it is to switch from a DVI connection to VGA, or get a different monitor, or use a program like DisplayConfigX or SwitchRes X to try and lower the pixel clock if you want to continue using DVI. Can you post certain details, like your monitor brand and model number and the resolution you are running?

  • Help for a frozen blue screen

    Hi evrybody:
Have a problem after last security update from apple, my laptop start normally but after grey screen stop in a blue wired screen.I used all apple instruction for troubleshoots,no solution. Can only turn off, from power button.
    Software test,ok. Hardware test result:code: 4MEM/1/40000000
    Has anyone a solution?
Thanks and Merry Christmas and the best for new year.
    Yuzun

It looks like you may have a hardware issue and have to have it looked at, but try this first, and see what it comes up with.
    Run fsck.
    1. Reboot/Startup holding your Command-S key down.
    2. At the command line type the following and hit 'Return.'
    /sbin/fsck -fy
    3. After it has check/repaired your disk, type 'reboot' and hit 'Return' again. Unit should bootup normally.

  • Mac equivalent of blue screen of death?

So i recently updated osx to 10.5.4 i believe it is? Ever since then i randomly get a grayed over screen and a message that says i have to restart my computer. Before this, finder was crashing, but it hasn't happened in awhile. It seemed to happen whenever adobe flash player 9 loaded and some kind of script messed everything up. (even though i run noscript with firefox)
I am running leopard on a powerbook titanium, 1 ghz, and yes, that is ballsy but i haven't had any problems before.
    Someone please help!

What you're getting is a kernel panic. These are almost always associated with some kind of hardware fault. Usually RAM. Though third party items you have may have plugged in can cause them.
See here for some times on resolving kernel panics.
