Mac didn't come with iLife!

I just bought my MacBook Pro on Sunday from Virgin Megastores and it didn't come with iLife and I did my research and it says that it should have come with it! What should I do? Should I take it back and tell them that it didn't come with it? Because now it's making me pay for each of them and they're really expensive!

If Virgin promised to include what used to be the iLife apps, they should have given you a code which you then enter in the App Store to download and install the apps free of charge. So, you might want to contact them again, indeed.

Sign on to the App Store.  You should find it there under the Purchased tab.  Click the install button to download.

  • My MacBookPro didn't come with iLife

For Christmas, I recently got a used MacBook Pro. I then realized I didn't have the iLife package pre-loaded in my Mac. I looked in the App Store and each product in the iLife package was 15$! I was wondering why I dont have the iLife package. My guess is that the previous user deleted it? How do I get it back??

    Software: OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Your MacBook Pro came with DVDs, so iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand can't be installed from the Mac App Store for free. However, the DVDs included with your computer included iLife '09 and the most recent iLife version is iLife '11 version.
    You have two options:
    1. Open the App Store and purchase the most recent version of the iLife applications you want, iPhoto, iMovie or GarageBand.
    2. Call Apple to get replacement DVDs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 Then, use the Applications disc to reinstall iLife applications. Note that you will be installing an outdated edition, but you will have iDVD and iWeb

  • New iMac didn't come with iLife

    Hi,
I just bought a new iMac from Futureshop and don't have garageband, imovie or iphoto installed. Any help out there?

Those are "bundled" apps, which means they are included as an incentive to buy the computer. Unlike iTunes they are not considered free.
If Futureshop didn't sell them with the iMac, you have to buy them individually from the App Store.

  • My mac didn't come with imessages

I bought a brand new macbook pro about a month ago and i dont think it cam up-to-date?

What operating system does it have? 10.8 Mountain Lion or 10.7 Lion?
Can check this in the About This Mac item on the Apple menu.

  • Any reason my mac air didn't come with iphoto or garage band?

Aren't macs supposed to come with iphoto, imovie, garage band?

This is iPhoto for iOS (e.g., the iPhone, iPad, etc).  You might want to post your question in the proper forum.
But to answer your question, yes, you should have received a disk with the iLife software included, or it should already be on your HDD.  Have you checked your applications to be sure?

  • I got my new macbook pro 2012 but there's no idvd it should come with ilife but i didn't found it how could i install it

i got my new macbook pro  os x version 10.7.4 processor 2.4 GHz Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 2012 but there's no idvd it should come with ilife but i didn't found it how could i install it thanks

    Apple no longer distributes iDVD.
    1) Buy an old iLife from a place such as e-bay or Amazon.  Make sure it is a version that has iDVD.  Do not buy it from Apple since their version no longer has iDVD.
    2) Try a third party application (none really have the features of iDVD though).
Burn (free) - http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html - includes basic DVD authoring but you will definitely have to read the documentation.
Easily Burn Movies to a DVD without Apple's iDVD. - http://www.creativetechs.com/iq/easily_burn_movies_to_a_dvd_without_apples_idvd. html - directions for using Burn to make a TV DVD.  Note, Burn also has a separate application which lets you do more fancy menus.

  • My Mac 10.5.8 didn't come with the App Store

I bought this Macbook Air 10.5.8 but it didnt come with the App Store or iTunes or any of those programs, were they suppose to come with the Mac or am I just really stupid?
    Mac OS X
    Version 10.5.8
Processor: 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    Startup Disk: Untitled

The App Store didn’t come with 10.5.8. It first appeared in 10.6.6.
Older versions of iTunes are here: Apple - Support - Downloads
To get the App store on your MBA you’d have to upgrade the OS, which is a good idea anyway, for security reasons.

  • Comes with ilife '11???

just received a brand new base model mac mini.
only thing is, I ordered it from Amazon.com in order to save a chunk of $$ on tax.
But now I'm concerned that it didn't come with the **latest version of ilife modules.
Instead of seeing "ilife 11" on things, I'm seeing "ilife '09."
What's up with this? Am I supposed to get ilife '11 regardless of who I buy the mini from, or is that just the way the cookie crumbles?

    Ok....
    I'm a reasonable person.
On the one hand this *makes sense. A boxed unit sitting on a shelf form some time back is not going to have latest/greatest.
    On the other hand,
Apple advertises that as of a certain date/line-in-the-sand.....new units come with newer software. So seems incumbent upon them to upgrade new units bought *after that date/line-in-the-sand.
Wondering if this is worth a call to the apple mothership...

  • Do new macbooks come with iLife 06 or 08???

Now, from the conference today, it sounded like they said all new macs would come with iLife 08, but I go on to purchase the macbook, and see it still says 06.
Am I missing something, or am I wrong, and it does not include macbooks?

I just bought my first mac, a macbook pro, yesterday, at an apple store. The mac came with Tiger pre-installed and a drop-in disc of Leopard. Bundled with the Leopard disc were two other discs: OS disc 1 and 2. I had two install options with the Leopard: upgrade or clean. I chose clean because, well, it was a new computer so I figured there was nothing to save from the older OS. After install, I did not have any ilife features or the iwork trial. After lots of reading of postings on the discussion board, I finally figured out that these did not come w/Leopard as I had expected and that by choosing "clean", I erased the previous ilife versions.
I put in the extra OS disc 1, figured out that these were the Tiger OS discs, then chose bundled install package, selected only the ilife features(iweb, imovie, etc.) and the iwork '08 trial. I wasn't sure what I would get as far as the ilife features...if these would be ilife '08 or not. This install went fast. After install, I opened up the installed ilife applications and they were all ilife '08 versions. My mac was bought in Portland, OR, US.
I've seen all the posts that new macs would come with ilife '08 installed, and assumed that meant it would be there as part of the Leopard install. As a newbie to mac, I didn't really get what all this meant. I hope this clarifies for new mac users how to handle the Leopard/new mac/ilife '08 issue.

If it originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, click here, phone Apple, and order a replacement.
If it originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.7 or newer, restart it with the Option, Command, and R keys held down.

  • I bought a used MacBook Pro and didn't come with an install disc.

I recently purchased a used MacBook Pro, it is the 2006 15.4inch, with 1.83GHz Intel core duo processor. It didn't come with RAM, a charger or the instal disc and the battery was dead. I installed RAM, bought a battery and charger and it booted up no problem, but I can't get past the login because I don't know the previous owners password. How do I get passed this point so? What OSX do I buy?

In the mean time try this: Run Mac Setup Assistant -
Restart the machine with the Command and S keys held down, and type the following commands into the prompt in order:
    mount -uw /
    mv /var/db/netinfo/local.nidb /var/db/netinfo/local.nidb.old
    mv /var/db/.AppleSetupDone /var/db/.AppleSetupDone.old
    usr/libexec/create_nidb
    shutdown -h now
The Setup Assistant will reappear the next time your computer is turned on. Be sure to enter the commands properly. You will be able to setup your user name password, etc. You can then delete the previous owners User.

  • Can I add a sub woofer to my dv7-1245dx if it didn't come with one

I know this laptop is old, about 5-6 years old or so. I have blown one of the speakers in it, and am going to replace it, even though they sound horrible when working, it's better than 1 crackling while you try to watch a movie or something. Since I have to rip the laptop apart for this and another reason, I looked up the woofer that I know was an option for the dv7's, and I have found some I can buy. I am wondering though, since mine didn't come with one, is it just a matter of adding the woofer, or maybe there is no connection to hook it up? Doesn't make much sense to buy one if there is no connector to hook it up to. I know I have room for it, there is a round plastic spacer/cup thing on the bottom of the laptop where the speaker should be pointing out, I just don't know (yet) if there will be a connection for it on my motherboard.
