Mac does not recognize iphone usb

I've had my mac mini running 10.4.11 for several years. Just got an  iPhone 3gs, and the Macmini does not recognized it. Using supplied cable direct into the USB on the back of the Macmini case. My Samsung camera is recognized via USB just the same as always.

Hello,
I'm not sure your system is compatible with the iPhone 3GS or iOS4.
Here is a link to another discussion on the forum: https://discussions.apple.com/message/11789504?messageID=11789504 and https://discussions.apple.com/message/11694138#11694138
Hope this helps.

Since you're running iTunes 9.2, your Mac has a G4 or better CPU. You need to purchase and install Mac OS X 10.5(G4 or G5) or Mac OS X 10.6(Intel) from a DVD. Mac OS X 10.6 DVDs are free for paid MobileMe members.

Is this a problem with the computer or with the word processor? MS Word for example seems to think its grammar and spelling are better than mine - they are not. You have to go into MS Word preferences and uncheck all the useless "help" it wants to provide.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your printer and check to see if they have released an updated driver for your particular model.

I went to devise manager and it tells me everything is working properly, but can not read the iphone on itune.
    Please help with this problem

You shouldn't be running the "preview" anymore. Microsoft released the full 8.1 update last Friday (10/18).
The "preview" is a beta and should NOT be relied on for any further use. Microsoft explained this in their "preview" downloads.

  • Mac does not recognize wide screen

I am using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 on my Mac mini, with Samsung monitor with default resolution 1360 x 768.
My Mac mini is connected to Samsung VGA port by Apple mini port to VGA adapter.
When starting, my Mac does not recognize the wide screen resolution and always starts in a 4:3 mode, (but it shows 1360x768 as the resolution in the settings). I have to do one of the following actions to bring my Mac to the wide screen resolution:
    (1) Changing to some other resolution and bring back to the default resolution.
    (2) Unplug the Apple mini port to VGA adapter and re-connect again.
    (3) Put the machine to sleep and wake it up again.
I am using Ubuntu 12.04, (in a different partition) in the same hardware, but Ubuntu is perfectly recognizing the display.

I am sorry, but this issue is not solved even after PRAM reset.
Basically my Mac is recognizing the default resolution (1360x768), but it is opening in 4:3 mode (both sides of the screen left unused).
(PRAM reset does not seem to have made any change)

  • Computer does not recognize Iphone 4 is plugged in to USB. Can't transfer pictures.

My HP laptop always use to recognize my Iphone 4 then all of the sudden stopped. I have been trying to transfer pictures and it does not see that any device or camera is plugged in to it like it use to. I have VISTA on my computer. When I go to My Computer it doesnt show anything is even plugged into the USB port. I tried all 3 ports on the laptop. The Windows help assistant talks about needing a driver..basically a software disc to load any new divice onto the computer. How would I get a driver for the Iphone?? I never needed that before. I could just plug it in and I would get the pop up asking if I wanted to transfer my pictures, etc.  This is so annoying!  I do back up to I Cloud as well.

Hi..Yes, I Tunes is installed on the computer. I sync with it no problem. I am trying to get the pictures from my Iphone onto my computer. When I use to plug the phone in I would get a pop up from Windows saying do you want to transfer pics to computer, do you want them to erase off phone once transfered, etc. Now I do not get the pop up. It is like the computer no longer recognizes that my Iphone is plugged in. Technically the pics are on my computer in the Photo Stream folder..but I want to actually transfer them off the phone. I have tried to turn off Photo Stream and I cloud but it does not help. The computer still does not recognize the phone plugged into the USB. If I go to "add a printer, scanner or camera" on the computer..it does not see it either. That is where it talks about having a driver to set up a new hardware device. I have 900 pics on my phone that I do not want to have to delete one by one...and I want to make sure they are downloaded. I also have videos that I want to download to the computer either and those are no where to be found..not even in the Photo Stream folder. I appreciate any help!

  • LR 4 on OSX 10.8 does not recognize iPhone

Ever since upgrading my Macbook Pro to 10.8 LR 4 does not recognize my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1.1) on the import menue.
No problem with iTunes, same problem with iPhoto. Help anyone?
    Gabriel

Just saw your reply. I am not sure what you are suggesting.
I have the following in my Mac Harddrive/Library/Image Capture/Devices folder:
    Canon IJScanner2
    Canon IJScanner4
    EPSON Scanner
    HP M1130_M1210 Scanner
However, the icon for the last mentioned is different. It does not have the Image Capture icon. It simply has the generic application icon (two white papers with an "A" formed out of a ruler, a pencil and a brush). I doubt that the icon makes a difference, but it is what I observe.
The permissions for the first three and the last are identical.
The file sizes for all the files are in the same size range (except for EPSON, which is much bigger).
I should reiterate that I am using the Lion version drivers on Mavericks (just upgraded from Mountain Lion yesterday). Those are the newest drivers for this MFP.

  • Macbook does not recognize external USB drive - except when booting with CD

    Hi all,
I recently swapped my Macbook's internal HD (Toshiba 100gb 5400 rpm) into an external USB enclosure (Eagle Consus). The computer does not recognize the external HD, even when using two USB cables for extra power. No luck with safe mode or resetting PRAM. Disk utility just hangs with spinning wheel if I start it. Switching the USB ports does not help.
I thought it might be a power problem until I noted the following:
1)The external drive works fine if I boot the Macbook from the Mac OS install CD... with this I can run disk utility and scan the drive with no problem
2)It works fine on an old Mac Mini with only ONE of the USB connectors plugged in
3)The enclosure worked fine on the Macbook when I had the new drive in it (320 GB 7200 RPM) while copying the files over
    Any thoughts?
    Many thanks,
    --T

It is actually using a power supply, yet it will not actually power on unless it is connected to a computer's USB port. At least this is how it works on my old desktop running Windows 2000. When you disconnect the drive from Windows, or put the machine in hibernate mode, the device actually shuts down. It powers back up once the machine wakes up from hibernate mode.
It's a somewhat older device which predates the Macbook Pro, but it claims to support older Mac, such as the G3, G4, G5, iMac, iBook. OSX 10.0.4. So perhaps it's just too old?
    It's a Buffalo HD-HB250U2 (250 GB).
    So you're in Japan too?

  • Windows does not recognize iPhone 5S as device

    Hallo,
For the past two weeks, my Windows 7 does not recognize my iPhone 5S as a device. This means I cannot download any media content captured with the device.
I have already followed the instructions posted on several Apple community topics re this issue, specifically the ones on checking the Universal Serial Bus Controllers. When connecting the phone, the Apple USB driver does show as a bus controller. I've checked for updates, and it shows that I have the latest version and that the bus controller functions correctly. The phone is also picked up by iTunes, although iTunes doesn't not start automatically like before. I'm using an Apple cable. Still, the device is not picked up by Windows.
    Can anyone help, please?

Did you check all of the steps in this support document iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows especially the ones about the Apple USB driver installation? Did you try removing and reinstalling iTunes as suggested and outlined in this support document? Make sure you follow those steps exactly.
