.mac email won't function in Safari

None of the buttons on the .mac mail page function when I open up my account in Safari. This problem is specific to my main user account because it works properly when I create a new user and test .mac from Safari in that account.
Any suggestions? I'm trying not to reset Safari and lose my cookies/login information on various web sites.
Thanks in Advance!

I have had a similar problem with my .mac e-mail for several days using 4 different computers at two different sites. My efforts to correct same have been to no avail.

  • Mac - PDFs won't open in Safari

My employer uses a system that uses online PDF forms.  It's not working on my system.  Running MacOS 10.6.4, Safari 5.0.1 (6533.17.8), and Adobe Reader 9.3.4.  I have removed Adobe Reader app, including the plugin in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins, and re-installed Reader.  When I click on a pdf in the browser, it just downloads, and does not open in the browser.  How can this be resolved?

In Snow Leopard, Safari is a 64-bit application.  But Adobe hasn't updated their plugin to run in 64-bit mode; that's why it's not loading in Safari.
But you can force Safari to run in 32-mode, and then the Adobe plugin works as expected.
    Here's how:
    To do this,
In the Finder go to your Applications folder, select Safari and do File->Get Info
Check 'Open in 32-bit mode' in the General pane of that dialog, then close the "Safari Info" window.
    Relaunch Safari
Now the Acrobat plugin will work as expected.
There is one downside to this: When running in 64-bit mode, if a buggy plugin (like Flash) crashes, Safari itself keeps running.  But in 32-bit mode, if a buggy plugin causes a crash, Safari itself will crash.
The real fix is for Adobe to update the plugin to run in 64-bit mode, since Snow Leopard has been out for over a year already!

  • HT4864 My .mac email won't show up on my gmail account since I transferred to icloud. Any ideas?

Switched over to Icloud. Now my email doesn't show up in my google account. Any ideas? Is it a different server address?

Yes, it is a different server.
As far as I know Gmail can only collect email from a POP3 account. iCloud uses IMAP.
Setup forwarding to your Gmail account in your iCloud account settings instead at iCloud.com

  • Can't launch my .Mac email account

What does the message 'We are having trouble fulfilling your last request. Please return to Mac main' mean? I have been getting this since last night. All my other non-Mac email accounts are fine using Safari. Have tried using Firefox on my laptop, but same message appears.
    G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

This means, that there is a malfunction on the Apple server serving .Mac to you. This could be during maintenance times or hardware/software faults. These messages are normally just of temporary nature.

my mac mail won't let me receive emails but will let me send them. How do i fix this ?

I am intermittently having the same problem. I can send email, but once the Mail application is opened, it will only pull emails in from the server one time and then I have to "Force Quit" and restart the application to receive incoming mail again.  I've tried restarting the computer. I've made sure I have all the system updates. I've checked for conflicts between applications and so far nothing fixes the problem. Once in a while, Mail starts functioning normally on its own, but in a few days it goes back to the same old problem. Has anyone figured out what if going on with this isse?

  • I just loaded Yosemite on my Mac and now adobe flash won't work in Safari  8.0.4 .  Does anyone have a solution ?

I just loaded Yosemite on my Mac and now adobe flash won't work in Safari 8.0.4 . Does anyone have a solution ?

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
For a "blocked plug-in" error, see Step 4.
For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8.
Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced ▹ Delete All...
In the sheet that opens, check the box marked
Delete All Site Data and Settings
then click Delete Data. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • TS3276 Mac Mail won't send emails with signatures

My Mac Mail won't send emails with signatures. I get the "whoosh" sound and they show in sent mail, but the recipient doesn't receive them until I take off the signature and resend the email. Without a signature, it is received. It never used to be a problem, but started this past month. Please advise!

Did Earthlink have you try using their authenticated SMTP server?
If not, try changing Earthlink's SMTP server settings to the following:
    SMTP Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Server Port: 25 or 587. Assuming Earthlink is your ISP, 25 should work.
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Off or not selected.
Authentication Type: MD5 Challenge-Response. Not sure if this authentication type is available with 10.2 and if not, select Password.
User Name: Your entire Earthlink email address.
Password: The password for your Earthlink email account - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.

  • Pdf files won't open in Safari running on a Mac

I just upgraded my MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard in preparation for Lion and ever since the upgrade, pdf files won't open in Safari.  I have Reader 9.4.5.  It opens documents that are on my machine, it just won't open in Safari, nor do the documents download.

MIght be helpful to disable Adobe plugin by going to Adobe Reader's Preferences -> Internet and unchecking "Display PDF in browser using".
Then dump the atrocious bloated Reader.
See this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3252667?start=0&tstart=0 for further solutions.

  • Movie won't play in Safari in 10.6, will in FireFox and earlier Mac OS

I am updating some web pages and I discovered that on my system running 10.6 a QuickTime movie embedded into the page won't play in Safari. The movie plays if the movie's URL is entered, but it won't play in the page, though another movie on another page plays fine. On the same computer the problem movie page works fine in FireFox.
    The HTML is simple...
    <embed src="Round-Robin-224px_200kbs.mov" width="224" height="235" autostart="true" loop="true" controller="false" id="looper" name="looper"></embed>
The web address of this page is http://www.automaticduck.com/products/
Any suggestions for getting this movie to play in the page in Safari?

    http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/media2/eu.mov
The file was made in 2003 (back when QuickTime Player supported Flash tracks).
Since QuickTime 7.3.1 support for .swf tracks has been dropped do to security concerns.
The file will not play in QuickTime X or QuickTime Player 7.3.1, or higher. I viewed it on my Snow Leopard machine using an older copy of QuickTime 6.5.2 (and Rosseta).
