Mac - Export H264 Never Completes

I have found that when ever I try to export a sequence to H264 (in CS6), using either the Export button or the Queue button via Media Encoder the export never completes.   In media encoder it says 00:00 time left.  the file 'appears' to be complete but the temp file has not been deleted.
The same sequence works perfect on windows.
The same sequence can be exported for DVD on a Mac and everything completes fine.
CS5.5 works perfectly for the same sequence on the Mac.  CS6 doesn't.
I've already checked / repaired permissions but no change.   Any ideas?

There ought to be a sticky post about what users should do when Pr stops working.
First off, eliminate your computer as the problem.  Permissions, Disk Warrior, RAM check, etc.
If no help, start with relaunching the app.
If no help, reboot the computer.
If no help, reset prefs (Hold option while launching.  Hold option-shift to reset prefs and dump caches).
If no help, try a new project or different media, to eliminate your source footage as being corrupted.
If it happens with any and all projects and footage and fresh prefs, uninstall and reinstall the app.
If no help, post your issue to the list.
If others are having the same problem, file bug report.

  • Export PDF file updating but never completes the export - already turned off OCR capability

Export PDF file continues updating but never completes the export - already turned off OCR capability

    John-
I wish I had something helpful to add but I can merely say that I am seeing the exact same problems on Aperture 3.0.3, MacOS X 10.6.3 with my quad-core i7 iMac (8GB RAM, 2.8Ghz).
The export I am attempting is:
RAW from Canon 50D >export> Email Medium - JPEG (image quality 8, 1024X1024, 72dpi, sRGB, include metadata)
    With these adjustments:
    RAW fine tuning
    Retouch (brushed)
    Exposure
    Enhance
    Curves
    H/S (brushed) x2
    Color
    B&W
    Sepia
    Dodge (brushed) x2
    Blur (brushed)
    Definition
    Skin Smoothing (brushed)
I am seeing some of the same side effects as others: must force-quit, can add/adjust effects but the preview updates are basically stopped.
In some instances, I've quit the app to find an export in the location I placed it but that's only happened sporadically.
I dearly hope the fix is coming...

  • 3.2.20.09 -1.6.0_37 64-bit - export never completes, zero byte file.

I am exporting query results to xlsx that is 89014 rows. The counter at the lower right counts up to 89104, but then the status bar continues to animate but never completes and never populates the target file as expected. The file is there, but is always zero bytes.
    update
I actually got a file after a LONG time... so it's a latency issue, this was not a large amount of data. final file size in xlsx was 2.2 MB.

Test exporting it to CSV and see what the time difference is. There have been problems reported in the forum with Excel format using lots of memory.

  • Export release build never completes

Installed Flash Builder 4.7 64 bit, now projects won't export. I complete the packaging settings and click finish then it just sits there with the progress bar moving. I left it going for an hour but nothing, not even an error message. In the task manager the disk activity drops to zero after 20 seconds.
Operating system is Windows 8 Pro, 6Gb ram.
Tried creating a new workspace and a new desktop project which exported ok. I then tried copying the source files into the new project and re-export release build, now the same result, just sits there doing nothing.

Turns out it was Zone Alarm Anti Virus, uninstalled and all works ok.

  • Time Machine back up never completes as estimate backup grows

Following a recent HD failure on my 2008 IMAC I have invested in a new 2014 Mac Mini (2.6 GHz Intel Core i5) with 8GB RAM and 1TB HD.
I have restored my IMAC data to my Mac Mini from an old WD External drive so the Mac Mini now holds 399GB data.
I have also purchased a 2TB Time Capsule.
The problem I have is when trying to perform the first full back-up of the Mac Mini to the Time Capsule using Time Machine the back-up never completes.
    Steps followed:
    - I click options within Time Machine where you have the chance to exclude back-ups, this shows estimated back-up size as 399GB agreeing with my HD view.
    - I start back-up and and as soon as it commences it reads backing up 0.00GB of 431.25GB (Not sure where the extra 31GB comes from)
    - I leave this to run and when the first figures gets to around 390GB of 431GB both figures start to increase. This never ends!
    - I have tried the Time Capsule via WIFI and cable and same issue occurs.
    - I have tried switching the Time Capsule for the old WD Hard Drive and again the same issue.
    - My sons Mac Mini back-ups fine using TM with either of these drives so it appears that there is something wrong with TM on my new iMac.
I have considered purchasing an alternative to TM but would rather use TM as it has worked fine for me over the years.

I've fixed mine! From a little help from an apple adviser. You might want to clear your caches before doing this - under iTunes preferences. Open iTunes - go to the top bar, click the 'Store' drop down menu >
Then click 'De-authorise this Computer' >
    Enter your password etc >
Then click 'Store' again then click 'Re-authorise this Computer'>
    Enter password etc>
    Restart the Mac>
Open up iTunes should be fine - worked for me anyway  Good Luck

Just a hunch, but I think you should check out the drive using the free demo of SMART Utility. If you were able to repair the drive, then my first theory is wrong. You appear to have done just about everything else. If you did a re-install, that should have fixed it.

You appear to be running 10.6.3. If you have a backup to restore from, you might try the 10.6.7 Combo update.

  • Profile Manager Active Tasks never complete, are always pending

I'm using OS X Server 3.2.2 on OS X 10.9.5. I'm attempting to push changes to a device or device group (iMacs in this case), but the task status is always pending and the task never completes. However, when I manually download the Enrollment Profile on a client machine, it will contact the server and grab the device and device group profiles during the initial enrollment. We're not blocking any ports and the server and client are both on the same VLAN and subnet. I'm stumped as to why I'm seemingly only able to communicate to the server from a client and not the other way around. I appreciate any help and suggestions. Thanks.

Hi dankgus, I was reading this article which explains how the mechanics of this work.
    http://www.justinrummel.com/how-apns-works-with-mdms-that-manage-osx-and-ios/
I then thought about your firewall comment, when I configured my firewall to work with my Mac MDM I used this Apple KBA ------> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5302 however I did not open TCP:443 for security reasons. I actually thought this was just for device enrollment and management however it looks like the iOS device might actually require it to function properly. I opened the port and ran a device update which worked. I think it worked ok initially because internally users can get to the MDM over TCP:443 through our split DNS and as soon as they took their iOS devices out of the reach of our corp WIFI it stopped working. I will observe the results and report back and of course I welcome comments.

  • Activity Stream Home Page never completes update

As part of a Photoshop CC subscription I installed Creative Cloud which is set to launch at log-in.  I have the Mac version, running OS 10.8.
Now every time I boot up my Mac the Creative Cloud app opens on the Home page with a "whirring circle" and blank screen as if it's trying to update to show my recent CC activty.  However the update never completes and the home screen stays blank.  All I can do is exit the CC app.  I have been forced to change preferences so the app in NOT launched at start-up.
What causes this annoying behavior and how do I fix it?

    Hi 208bridge,
Would it be possible to collect the following log files, put them in a zip file and upload them to your Creative Cloud account? And once uploaded, set the zip file as available for download and post the link here?
These would be the log files
ACC.log, NELog.log, PDapp.log (present in your user account temp folder).
You can get to it by putting a %temp% in the run field on Windows
On Mac launch Terminal from Applications > Utilities,
    - In terminal type cd ../.. to change up two directories - type ls and you'll see the tmp directory listed (note the l in ls is a lowercase L)
    - type cd tmp to change into the temp directory and ls again will list the files in there.
    - type cp <name of the file>~/Desktop
You'll have to repeat the process for each file
    And the CoreSync*.log found in <user path>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CoreSync

  • I transfered my purchases from my iphone to my mac. All transfers completed. One particular album shows up on the phone but the songs are greyed out and don't play. Itunes shows album as purchased but album is not in my Mac library.

I transfered my purchases from my iphone to my mac. All transfers completed. One particular album shows up on the phone but the songs are greyed out and don't play. Itunes store shows album as purchased but album does not show up in my Mac library. How can I retrieve the album.

So i've found the answer to this by clicking on every menu and setting in the itunes store. It turns out some purchases in the cloud can be hidden probably as the result of an interrupted transfer/sync/backup or a network outage. To unhide purchases 'greyed out ' items , go to the Itunes store (on the PC) click on your account name and select view account. (you'll be prompted for your itunes password) once you are in scroll down to the purchase history section. there should be an option for hidden purchases. click through and click on unhide purchases, redownloadble purchases. any hidden purchases will then show up. click on unhide to reactivate and download. This may only work for purchases in the cloud.
    hope others find this useful.

  • IPod sync never completes, if I cancel the sync a large portion of my music disappears

Hi, hopefully someone here can help!
I have recently had an issue with my iPod touch and iTunes 12.0.1.26. It has been a bit of a pain to sync ever since that update that screwed up other people's iThings but I hadn't had a problem in a few months. Now whenever I try to sync it will take a long time and never complete, always getting hung up on the last step before anything is transferred. If I unplug or cancel I get an error box that says the iPod couldn't be recognised and the sync failed to start even though it would get through to that last bit after backing itself up. After each failed attempt the Other data section becomes bigger until I get another error saying that there is not enough space on my iPod for everything, sometimes it is over capacity by 10GB. Every time this happens I end up with less and less music on my iPod until I get incomplete playlists and entire albums wiped off. After this the only solution seems to be a factory reset and restore from backup, which I have done twice already this week.
My phone will sync with no issues so I am not sure if it is a software or hardware problem. Its winding me up, anyone have any ideas? I have already removed and reinstalled iTunes and have done a reset on the iPod.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reboot the computer
    - Try another USB port
    - Try another cable
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • I have a MacBook and I am unable to successfully update Firefox. I click "Update Firefox" and it's starts updating but never completes the process. I sometimes leave it for hours and it's still updating! Please help!

    Question
I have a MacBook and I am unable to successfully update Firefox. I click "Update Firefox" and it's starts updating but never completes the process. I sometimes leave it for hours and it's still updating! It's almost as if something is blocking it ffrom completing the process. Please help

Next time an app update gets stuck try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons for10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. Wait till your iPad starts on it's own. Try now. Also YouTube is still available. If you can't find it the the app store go to the bottom of the app store page and tap purchased. All your deleted apps will be listed and you can reinstall YouTube from there.
