Mac/Firefox/Adobe Flash Player compatability problems

Hi I have an old Mac OS 10.6.8 and just did an undate for Firefox.  Now I cannot play anything without receiving a notice thay update is needed.  I have attempted this multiple times.  All I can find on the web is that Adobe Flashplaer 11 is not compatable with anything more than OS 10.3.  I want it to work, I tried a different route  I changed my download options that you suggest.  I selected OS 10.6 and Adobe 11.  I redownloaded and it still does not work.  I just want to put it all back like it was before and I am now geeting the warning using Safari as well!  Please help.
Thanks,
Megan

Hi David, try dropping the .dll extension, in fact you can just enter dom.ipc.plugins and it should come up. Or enter the whole thing and then backspace until it comes up. Also, I have Windows 7(x64) and this fix worked fine for me.

TWEAK DISCOVERED for Flash Player 10 to save local settings!!
    I was digging around in:
    ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/www.macromedia.com/bin/fpupdatepl/
    and I discovered:
    Adobe Flash Player.pkg
If you Right Click (or Control + Click) the Package and then select 'Show Package Contents' this will open a new window.
    Then navigate to:
    Contents/Resources/
There you will find a file:
    Adobe Flash Player.info
Open this file with text edit (or your app of choice)
On about the fourth line from the bottom look for:
    OverwritePermissions NO
    Change this to:
    OverwritePermissions YES
    A NOTE OF CAUTION
I have not fully tested this change, but did find that after I modified the local settings for the Flash Player, then restarted Safari that the settings remained the same.
    Good Luck!

  • Mac Safari "Adobe Flash Player Security" issue

Using Captivate 5.5 for Mac. I've been having sporadic problems viewing my published .htm files in Safari. I always get the "Adobe Flash Player Security" popup on initial load, but before today I could usually just click OK and refresh the browser window to play the Flash content. Today I can no longer view the content in Safari. (Firefox plays the content fine.)
The popup says "To let this application comminicate with the Internet, click "Settings". When I click Settings, my Mac OS Flash preference dialog opens. But the only options available are "Local Storage Settings", "Camera and Mic", "Playback" (which pertains to peer-assisted networking, not local playback), and "Advanced" (which only allows you to delete local files). Just for experimentation, I tried adding my local path as an allowed site in "Local Storage Settings" but it doesn't have any effect.
I don't have any other problems using regular Flash-based websites in Safari. Only my published Captivate files spawn this security popup.
    How do I fix this?

It worked! Thank you. (Actually, I used the related URL for "Global security settings for content creators" (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04a.ht ml#119065) since that URL is intended for local development/testing, whereas the link you provided is for sites on the Web.)
But I'm curious. . .  according to Adobe (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager.html), "Beginning with Flash Player 10.3, the Local Settings Manager supersedes this Online Settings Manager for managing global settings on Windows, Mac, and Linux computers." Yet the page goes on to explain when one would use the online Global Settings. This is very confusing. If the local Settings Manager supercedes the online manager, why would the online manager still be required for certain uses? And why isn't a link to the Global Settings manager provided within the local Settings manager. What am I not understanding?

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 Problem.

Alright everyone, this issue has been bugging me for so damn LONG!!!!!
    The problem is:
I'm trying to make my Adobe Flash Player 10 to work in my Mozilla Firefox because a certain website is asking for my flash player to get updated to 10. I've both installed from the adobe download manager and the direct link, I've also got the ActiveX installed and it's updated and I've unistalled the previous versions, only the flash player 10 is installed. I'm running on a Windows XP and I have no idea how to fix this situation... it won't load whatsoever!
    Please would anyone help me.

Hi, "finally replying"? LOL, maybe I'm in a different time zone? Just to clarify, contrary to what some may think, I am not an Employee of Adobe nor Microsoft. I am just an end user as yourself, taking my time to help those that are having problems.
Since you stated that Adobe Flash Player is not working for you in either Internet Explorer or Firefox, then I am going to suggest to you a thread that has the latest instructions by a very knowledgeable person. He has helped many users on this forum.

  • Adobe flash player 9 problem

continues to run your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want
    to abort the script?
Anybody else had this problem and what did you do to get rid

I am having the same exact problem and I can't seem
to find any information on why it's happening. I can't do anything
that involves the flash player without getting that same error

  • Safari 6.0.2 and adobe flash player update problem

I am having problems installing the current version of adobe flash player.  Whenever I try and view a video from a site that requires it (eg. youtube, etc.), it says I need to update adobe flash player and sends me to a link to do so.  I've installed flash player "successfully" several times, deinstalled it and reinstalled it, re-downloaded it, but I'm always getting the message to update flash player.  Can anyone help with some suggestions to get this working corectly?
I am running osx 10.8.2 and safari 6.0.2.
    Thanks very much.  Ron

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
    1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. You may be prompted for your login password. If you get the same error after doing that, re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    2. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    3. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    4. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • Adobe Flash Player  Install problem

I have been trying to install Adope Flash player on my
computer. It seems to be installed but flash programs will not
open. When I look in the currently installed programs list the
Adobe Flash Player has a red X on it. What could be the possible
problem? I am using Windows XP home edition.
    Thanks,

    Hi regztfen,
If you’re having difficulties with the ActiveX
installer on IE these steps will typically resolve the issue:
Try this first: Instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling
    the Flash Player:
    1. First download the uninstaller to your desktop from here
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
    2. Before running this uninstaller be sure to read the
instruction and close all running programs.
    3. Open the following folder
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
    4. Run the uninstaller
    5. What files are left in this folder?
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
    6. If there are files left, delete the Flash folder.
    7. Install the Flash Player from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
    8. Test the Flash Player here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/
Also check your Internet Explorer ActiveX settings
Browser security settings should be chosen by you or by your
system administrator. For single users who do not have an
administrator, the Medium: Default Level allows you to view Flash
content. For any Custom Level, ensure that both the "Download
Signed ActiveX controls" and "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins"
    options are set to "Prompt".
    To change your security level:
    1. Open Internet Explorer.
    2. Choose Tools > Internet Options.
    3. Select the Security tab.
    4. Select Custom Level.
    5. Find the section "ActiveX controls and plug-ins".
    6. Set ' Download Signed ActiveX Controls' to Prompt.
    7. Set 'Run ActiveX Controls And Plug-ins' to Prompt.
If you are having trouble, make sure that your Internet
Explorer security level is not set to High or to a custom level
that does not allow viewing of ActiveX controls.
Finally, it may be that you have incorrect permissions in the
    system registry:
To fix these Windows system registry permission conflicts you
    can use Microsoft’s SubInACL tool.
Please download Microsoft’s tool to your desktop.
    http://www.supportflash.com/reset_min.zip
    1. Login as the User that has the incorrect permissions in
    the system registry
    2. unzip the “reset_minimal.cmd” and the
    “subinacl.exe” to the desktop
*** Make sure both files are on the desktop
    3. Close out all applications
    4. Run the “reset.cmd” file
    5. It will open a DOS like terminal and start running through
    registry keys
    6. When it is finished it will say “press any key to
    continue”
    7. At this point you can download the latest Flash Player
    from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
    Test the Flash Player here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/

  • Firefox adobe flash player plugin continues to crash, how do i fix this?

with each update from adobe and from Firefox, flash player becomes more unstable. the last time it was stable was when adobe was still in 10th version but once it reach 11th version it became unstable. i have did everything the tread has offer to do from updating to the latest flash player and updating Firefox. uninstall Firefox and uninstall flash player and then reinstalling it. I have reset Firefox to its default settings. i keep my system clean of cookies and other things using CC cleaner and disk cleanup. i have the fast internet service provider and i have disable my antivirus software to make sure it was not interfering. i have tried safe mode. and have disable video accelerator as well. to no prevail. i know this has to be a flaw in the update. when it crashes a box appears saying a "script as stop working or is busy would you like to continue or stop plugin" of course i stop it because it will just freeze the computer if i don't. this occurs on a daily basics now. it would also appear that it slows down my internet speed while the process is running as evident of when it crashes my internet moves extremely faster than normal. i love Firefox and do not wont to switch. i know i can not return to internet explorer its terrible unstable and prone to virus but now Firefox is acting up. is their a add on or something to fix this issue that's been troubling users for the last 2 years. i have windows 7 home premium 64 bit computer. i have gone as far as performing a factory restore.

I have been chasing my tail with this problem for several years. Perhaps it is a problem common to Window 7 / 64 bit. At any rate you'd think that both Adobe and the Firefox developers could find a solution.
I'll try the above fix but if no solution is forthcoming I will be changing back to IE. After all the very reason I came to the Firefox browser was that IE was at the time not up to the challenge. It looks like the tables are now reversed.

  • Is there a fix for a Flash Player compatibility problem?.

My computer is a imac g4 1.25 Ghz 17 inch flat panel running OS X 10.4.11 and can no longer view anything on the internet that uses the newest version of flash player.  I have tried to upgrade to that version but it won't work on my computer. When I try to download it I get this message "Devices with powerpc processors are no longer supported." Is there a fix for this?

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25, 10.3.x beta, or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.
    It works for me.
