MAC HD Icon in Dock Showing as BBLaunchAgent?????

A week ago moved to Curve 9300 from T-Mobile.  Have a Macbook with 10.5.8.  Had BBDTM installed for about 2 years - no problems.
A few days ago I got a quick message that popped up that indicated that something related to BB (I read it very quickly) wanted access to my keychain.  I clicked yes.  Now I have Macintosh HD icon in my dock.  When I click it, the upper left frame states 'BBLaunchAgent'.  When I click the 'BBLaunchAgent' there is no menu drop down.  I can't remove the HD icon from the dock - it just pops back.
I don't know if its coincidence, but a day before this happened, I purchased a new wireless router (Belkin N150).  I do use the UMA function on the T-Mobile service to make calls over WiFi.
I have uninstalled BBDTM.  Even go through the libraries to ensure that all the remnants are removed.  I even went and deleted any BB related keys in keychain.  That does make the icon go away.
But when I reinstall BBDTM, the icon reappears.
The icon makes me concerned - I don't want to screw anything up very badly.  Admittedly I am not very computer 'saavy' (why I purchased a Mac to begin with).
Any help or guidance to get rid of this would be very helpful.
Thanks!

Go to the flag up on the right side of your Menu Bar and select Show Keyboard Viewer.
Then start testing some keys including the Option key and watch the Keyboard Viewer to see if any are stuck or sticking.

  • Accidently deleted the little Mac spring icon from dock, can I get it back?

I accidently moved the little springy Mac icon that lived on the right hand side of the dock, next to the trash, out of the dock, and it disappeared with a puff of smoke. I am not sure what it was or whether I needed it..I think it was a web link to Apple..? Anyway, its gone and I can't find it on my computer.
What was it and can I get it back? Do I need it?

From Safari, click and drag the icon next to the web address (in the address bar) down to the Dock (on the side with the Trashcan).
It was only a shortcut to the Apple home page..

  • My FaceTime icon in dock is not showing when and how many calls I have missed (similar to the email system where it shows how many emails (on the stamp icon) have been received

My Face Time icon in dock does not show how many calls I have missed.  It should show the number similar to the email system(a red number appears on the stamp icon).  How can I rectify this problem?

Check or uncheck "Badge app icon" option to show badges on the icon of the app in the Dock.

  • New Message Doesn't Show on Icon in Dock

I've created a new Mailbox folder for a client and have a Rule for all messages that come from him to automatically go into that folder. This works just fine but when a message comes from him and is sent to that Mailbox the red circle that usually shows up on the Mail icon in dock when new unread mail is received doesn't appear. So I don't know I have mail from him until I unhide Mail.
Is this just a feature that Mail doesn't have?
    Thanks.

There's a program called DockStar that lets you put badges on the dock icon for different folders. It's shareware and available here: http://www.ecamm.com/mac/dockstar/
I've got a smart mailbox named "Unread messages" that just collects ... all my unread messages (I do a lot of automagic sorting) and then have DockStar show how many messages are in that smart folder.

To check your model go to About This Mac (by clicking on the Apple icon, top left) and then select more info. If you wish to use mirroring you will need one from 2011 or later running OSX 10.8 or later. The alternative would be to use 3rd party software like Airparrot.

This could be a plist corruption problem, but I'm not sure.
Sometimes, the preference list files get corrupted. You can usually just remove them and they'll get re-created. This may require you to reset certain settings. A notable exception to this is the Mail plist which actually stores the Library structure of your email accounts. Deleting the Mail plist will definitely cause lots of problems, but is recoverable.
The plist files are stored in the /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ folder. They usually have the naming convention of com.company.programname.plist.
A simple troubleshooting technique is to move a suspect plist file out of the Preferences folder and start up the app, again. It will re-create the plist from scratch.
In your case, I would try the com.apple.dock.plist. You can use Activity Monitor to kill the Dock app and it will restart. Or, you can log out and log back in.
There is a new file with Leopard called com.apple.dock.db. I haven't figured out what it does, but you might try moving it out. If anything gets worse, you can move the old file back in replacing the newly created one.
This all sound somewhat odd, so I don't know if this will help.

How old is the MacBook Pro?  AirPlay is only supported on 2011 and newer models, due to the requirements it has in hardware for graphics acceleration.

It's strange. The problem apparently resolved itself after I ran TechTool on it. When I clicked on Firefox last night, I had no problem opening a window. Thanks for your help. (As to your previous post, the focus was on Firefox and neither the speed keys nor the menu bar would open a window or tab of allow me to enter a URL to open a window. Strange!)

  • Calendar icon in my dock showing a number

I have a MacBook Pro and the latest version of Mountain Lion. When I booted up this morning, my Calendar icon in my dock shows a "1" in the upper right hand corner. What is this, and how do I get rid of it?

    Thanks!
What I discovered happened, is I told Siri to schedule a meeting with a colleague. It somehow became in Calendar an "invitation" to my colleague regardin a meeting. So, the "1" showed I had one invitation. I tried to edit it to a simple calendar event, but had to literally cancel the invitation, leading my colleague to call me wondering if/why our meeting was canceled!

  • Hi, never used support before - here goes! My Mac G4 MDD no longer shows the start up hard drive icon. The one with all my files on! It shows the other 3 hard drive icons and boots up OK. Has my start up hard drive failed? Can it be fixed? Thanks.

It shows the other 3 hard drive icons and boots up OK.

Doesn't sound like any hard drive failure to me - more a Finder preference.
Finder -> Preferences -> General -> Show these items on the desktop -> Hard disks
The startup disk is sometimes treated differently from other disks (such as external and network disks) and I'm guessing this is a simple preference setting, although I might be wrong.

  • IPhoto in dock shows only question mark...

The iPhoto application in my dock shows a question mark, but I cannot reinstall iphoto.  It can't be found on my hard drive. Help!  My iphoto libraries exist, but cannot be opened.  How or where can I get my application back and re-install it?  It came pre-installed when I bought this Mac.

    Did you check the Trash?
Do you have any iLife Discs? Did you look on the Original Install Disc(s) for Optional Installs?
The icons in the Dock are aliases, & the question mark means it doesn't exist where that points to.

  • Hard drive icon appears as folder icon in dock

When I drag the hard drive icon for any of my hard drives (Mac Pro) to the dock, a folder icon rather than hard drive icon appears in the dock. It functions properly, accessing the full drive, but is harder to distinguish from the other folders in the dock.
Why does this happen? Is there any way to get the hard drive icon to appear in the dock?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
    Why does this happen?
Directories (like the Hard drive) show up as folders when added to the dock.
Is there any way to get the hard drive icon to appear in the dock?
You bet. Make an alias to the Hard Drive (you can put it inside the hard drive itself if you like). Then drag the alias to the dock. It will show up as the drive.
    Hope the helps.
