Mac HD's Spot on Desktop has Shifted--How to Correct?

Suddenly, after a restart, my Macintosh HD icon on my Desktop has shifted from the upper right corner of the screen to a spot near the Dock toward the bottom left. This spot is also where a new Folder appears when I create on. All of the other icons on my Desktop are behaving normally.
What I've done:
repaired permissions, verified disk (it's OK), run the crons, trashed Desktop prefs and restarted (problem persists)
Any suggestions?

Hi Steve,
Sounds like it may be corruption in the Home folder .ds store:
rm ~/.DS_StoreThis should set your Finder back to default and hopefully your HD icon as well.

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you can disable the F7 shortcut that toggles caret browsing by setting the pref accessibility.browsewithcaret_shortcut.enabled to false.
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

It did not work.
I am using MacBook Air since three years. Had no problem with letter g button. Since a month I see whenever I press g, the character © appears instead of g. For typing g I hold fn button and press g button, then I get g. If I do not hold down fn button and if I press g button I get ©. (sorry for repeating)

try doing an SMC reset, the following article tells how to do this:

also go into your keyboard options and make sure the settings are correct there.

You cannot slow the cracking, etc., but you can take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians look at it and give you an estimate for a screen replacement.

I think I have mountain lion OS X....I have done I think almost every suggestion I've seen in discussion boards.
Boot in recovery repaired disk...ok...repair disk permission...all repaired but one warning...I've tried to reinstall lion (without losing data) and it Got all the way to one minute to be done and then the time change back two hours and kept doing this all night long. I haven't done a back up due to no external for time machine.
I hope someone can please help me I've been going crazy for a week now trying to figure this out. I use my computer for school and I'm currently very behind from in my school work thank you
Also I've checked my available space 424.91 free of 750 gigs....disk is verified

Try holding the Shift key while your Mac is starting to start into safe mode. Then, after starting in safe mode, open Finder, select Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type /Library/StartupItems. Then, empty this folder and restart the Mac.
If your Mac starts after doing this, it was a problem with a third-party app that starts automatically when you turn on the computer. It won't start automatically anymore after doing that

If you can go to the Bank Atlantic site, you can see the printing on the left side that gives bank information, and the 2 boxes for sign in and password. The printing in this area for some reason or other has shifted upwards and is not aligned with the page. As a result I cannot enter my name or password.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause such issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems, make sure that the window is not maximized:

You music etc should not be affected by problems with the iTunes program, nevertheless it is always a good idea to backup your data.
You haven't said if there was any error message when you tried to start iTunes. If there was one please give it in full.
Also check to see if QuickTime works, iTunes can not work without it. If QuickTime doesn't work, it has to be fixed before worrying about iTunes.
Then restart your PC and open your Task manger and select the Processes tab.
Try to start iTunes, does iTunes.exe appear on the processes tab? If so does it disappear again or remain although the programs does not open?

Not necessarily. I'd suggest downloading and installing the "combo" update. That's a combination (thus the clever name) of all the updates to Leopard since it was first released, so installing it should fix anything that's gone wrong since then, such as with one of the normal "point" updates.
