Mac Help does not work
When I am in the finder, and select Mac Help from the Help menu, the help window appears for a few seconds, does not allow me to use it, and then closes again
Hence I do not have access the the Mac Help database
what to do?

This is a common bug in Panther. The solution to this problem is simple though:
• (~ means your home directory)
If the search field is not in the top of the window.... click on the oblong button at the top right hand corner...that should open the Toolbar and display the search field.
Go to ~/Library/Preferences and delete the following files......
com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpui.plist (you may or may not have this one).
com.apple.helpviewer.plist
Next go to ~/Library/Caches and delete the folder......
com.apple.helpui
Log out and log in. If the problem is gone, empty the trash. If not, put everything back.
you can open MacHelp directly from .....
/Library/Documentation/Help and it works fine.

10.4.4 Mac Help does not work
I just upgraded 10.4.3 to 10.4.4. Now Tiger Mac help does not work. Other software help does work, at least those I have checked like Word, Safari, and a few others I have checked. But in the Finder going to help in the Menu bar does brings up the help window, but try to click a link like What's new in Tiger or typing a query into the search window produces nothing. All the software seems to be working fine, at least what I have checked. I have redownloaded and re-installed making sure virus software is off to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.I tried the steps mentioned before, and thought I would give them one more try. Initially, I had success in that the Help Viewer opened to the default Mac Help view, and when I typed in a find term, lo & behold a list of results appeared! Alas, my visions of success vanished when I clicked on one of the results, then View.....nothing happened!
I returned to the main menu, and found none of the links would work, and neither would the search function!
It appears a link may work the first time, but none after that.
I also noticed that (repeating the Cache & Preference removal steps) that they repopulated with the files when Mac Help was initiated, and, as before, would allow one link acivation to occur, but none after.
I suspect there may be a conflict with some other applications Help feature, but made sure to activate ONLY the Mac Help with no other Application having been run after restart. The only other possiblity is that some toolbar non-Mac OS X help apps like Magic Menu, Quicken, & iPod conflict, but these are all I have!
If any one having this Help Viewer problem has similar installations, or knows of any conflicts with these; or, how I can temporarily disable/remove the associated help without uninstalling them, please post a reply.

MAC Authentication does not work
My MAC Authentication does not work.
I have a ACS 3.0 server set. the MAC address is set in the user name field and in the password field.
I can ping the ACS, I can ping my AP, I can ping my client.
I don't want WEP and I don't want LEAP just MAC. So I set my authentication to "Open with MAC" My client has WEP set to NO WEP and authentication to OPEN
I have the latest drivers for both AP and my 350 Client.
I see that the client is associating and disassociating back and forth non stop. My AP log is full with the following message:

F1 help does not work in transaction SE80

A strange error occurred in our ECC 6.0 SR3 system (Windows 2003 SE 64 bit based, MaxDB 7.6.03.009). F1 help does not work in transaction SE80. Either nothing is shown when a keyword as SELECT is marked and F1 key is pressed, or a strange popup appears with title u201CABAP Keyword Documentationu201D and root u201CHit List of Index Searchu201D - [screenshot|http://i43.tinypic.com/aox7d.jpg]. No matter what I choose in the tree it always closes, no help is displayed and SAP GUI returns in the main screen in transaction SE80.

The problem is not resolved.
This happens from different workstations with different versions and sub-versions of SAP GUI, so the problem is not caused from the GUI I think. It happens using different logon users and in all SAP system cliens.
Any other suggestions?

Photoshop CS4 Extended ...Program's 'Help' does not work
I have PS CS4 Extended ... the Help command does not work ... I get a message saying "there was an error launching th eAdobe Help application. You may need to reinstall the application and Help component.
IK have un-installed the program completely and then reinstalled it. Still, the Help does not work, although the rest of the program seems to perform ok.
I'm rather at my wits end.
Has anyone any suggestions.

The "always match my default message font" option in the Signature preferences from Mac Mail does not work if e-mail is received in other Mail Software. How can I make it work?
I found this plugin which solved pretty much all of my mail font rendering problems. It is designed for Lion, so don't know whether it will work but thought I would offer it up.

Most of the default Mac Apps does not work after Mavericks Upgrade
Hi, I did everything, but nothing has brought me out of this misery .
I Updated Maverick just 2 days after its release. Had no problems, other then slow Finder. I restarted my iMac last week, and got caught with these issues, known to me, not sure what all bugs are there.
All these apps does not work: App Store, TextEdit, Preview, Terminal, iBooks, Maps, Calendar, Contacts, Mail, etc
I do not know how to do a clean install, as I had upgraded from Snow Leopord to Mountain Lion and to Maverick using App Store, which does not open at all.

Help does not work in photoshop elements 12, WHY??
I just installed photoshop elements 12, none of the selections under HELP will work, I keep getting a message that “there was an error launching the default browser and to reinstall elements. I have done this 3 times and installed updates, HELP still does not work. I called customer support and was told I would have to pay to get support with defective software???? How do I get the help functions to work? John Borden
Perhaps the problem is with your browser. If this is a windows machine, maybe you have changed the default browser to FireFox, Chrome or something else and maybe you have modified the browser with add-ons, etc. If so, what I would do is load Internet Explorer and update it; then I would go into the browser's settings and mark is as the default browser. Close it and reboot the machine. Then try the Help file links again and see what happens. If this doesn't work, I don't know what else to suggest, at the moment. My default browser is FireFox and it works OK with PSE 12, but what works on one computer doesn't necessarily mean it will work on another. Good luck.

All works fine when using online help with forms: the help text uses help context id and bookmarks in het htm file.
Altough help text for all reports is generated in belhelp.htm, following errors and restrictions occur:
1. URL = http:10.1.10.0:7778/hsd65-help//hsd65-help/belhelp.htm is wrong. It should be http:10.1.10.0:7778/hsd65-help/belhelp.htm. How can I resolve this issue?
2. report help does not use bookmarks. Although help context id's are generated in the module defined in design editor, the button 'report help' in the report launch form does not use the bookmark. When I add a bookmark manually it works, eg http:10.1.10.0:7778/hsd65-help/belhelp.htm#BM919000000This is a known bug that was fixed in Headstart patch 6.5.2.1, available through the supplement option. There are also a small number of other bugs related to reports that are fixed in patch 6.5.2.2, also available through the supplement option.
If you do not already have the supplement option, you can purchase it through your Oracle Consulting representative or through the Oracle store.

3. Replacing "ahclient.dll" with new version does not work either. It just changes the no-go message.

2. I am quite disappointed even with the User's Manual which is
pretending to be HELP. HELP and a user's manual usually have a different
organization, purpose, and search capabilities. All that the manual does is
give you a document on which you can do a word search. It's a giant pain
to finally get to what you want. Is this typical of Lightroom and
Photoshop. At $1,000, it would be quite annoying to find a User's Manual
masquerading as HELP.

since a few days I get an error when using the Lightroom Online (german edition) help on my Win 7 64bit computer.
When searching for something there pops up a dialog box stating "Unerwarteter Fehler. Suchen Sie erneut", that's like "Unexpected error. Please search again".
My girlfriend has the CS5 Web Suite. She gets the same error on a diffferent computer (but also Win7 64bit). She also got an error 16822 when the help client tried to update. This error is already known and so I was able to fix it.
But the error when using the help itself is still there.
Any ideas.

The F1 key events are delivered to the component that has the focus, and unlike some other AWT events they don't bubble up to any parent components. Is it possible that the component you mentioned did not have the focus at the time you pressed F1?
There is a "Context Sensitive Help" demo that we distribute with Oracle Help for Java. The source for that demo is contained in the help4-demo.jar if you'd like to look at it. Does the context sensitive help work when you run that demo in your environment? -
