Mac icons not showing in dock application folder
that's what displays after install. the proper icon displays everywhere else. the funny thing is if i move the app out of the applications folder, say to the desktop, then back to the applcations folder the icon proper icon shows.. wierd.
any suggestions?

I answered my own question: There's a difference between "download' and "install." Hunt for "install" (1.5 hrs in my case) and line up your passwords, Adobe ID, etc, then install. Took 15 min. The right choice shows up in Applications. Now it's on to figuring out why photo selected for edit in iPhoto does not show up on screen in Elements.

Adobe CC 2014 Applications do not show in my Applications Folder.

Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.3
I have recently installed all 2014 versions of my creative cloud software which all worked fine.
The odd thing is that they do not appear in my Applications Folder when viewing from a Finder window. They all show in LaunchPad and also when I do a 'Reveal in Finder' search from the Dock icon when the application is launched.

The two folders show are the same path (Macintosh HD / Applications).
As you can see the 'Adobe' Folder is common to both but the CC applications no longer show in screenshot 01.
This is not a show-stopper by any means but I curious to understand why this has happened after upgrading to CC 2014

Log out of your Cloud account, restart your computer, log in to your Cloud account
If things are otherwise working, you probably don't need these... but posted for you to read (I'm Windows, so know nothing about Mac, but do have a few saved links)

Files not showing up in application folder.
No files are showing up in my application folder. I dragged a new file to my applications folder today and it shows up however it is the only one. All the applications are still working fine just cant see them. Any help would be awesome.
Control-click an application's Dock icon and choose Show in Finder. You'll most likely find that it's at the top level of the drive and you dragged the file to the one in your home folder.

Java not showing up in Applications folder
Why is Java not showing up in my Applications folder, even though it's installed and working? I've done a search for it on the computer and nothing shows up, yet it's functioning.
After you installed the latest Oracle Java update and it erased the old Apple Java Preferences app in Utilities, it also installed a Java perfpane in System Preferences.
Should visit it so the Java Control Panel pops up and you familiarize yourself with the knobs & whistles now offered. -
App Store Apps downloaded but not showing up in Applications folder
I purchased some apps from the App Store while logged into a Parental Controlled user account. The apps are not showing up in the limited Application folder in the doc. I logged out an logged back into the Admin folder and made sure the new apps were selected in the available parental controlled apps. Then I logged back into the restricted user account and the apps are not there. As well, the game center downloaded apps are not showing up. Not sure how that "game Center' is supposed to work. You would figure when you download an app it would be available right away, no?
When you have "Use Simple Finder" and "Limit Applications" selected, you do not have an Applications folder. The Apps Are Selected in the parental Control panel under "Apps" > Allowed Apps> App Store.
They should show up somewhere. I would assume in the Apps folder. -
Lightroom 5 not showing in my applications folder
Although I have installed lightroom 5 and it is showing as up to date in the new creative cloud interface, I cannot see it anywhere in my application folder. I am therefore unable to open it. I have logged out and back in again to my account and restarted my MacBook Pro but still no joy.
I tried that Nitin and it still showed as installed and up to date in the application manager, so I did not have the option to re-install. I shut down my MacBook for an hour and after restarting, it is now allowing me to install again, which is very strange. Thank you most kindly anyway.

In case you repaired permissions and restarted after updating, go the printer & scanner manufacture website. You probably need to update the drivers to go along with the os updates. -
I just tried to install iLife '11 on my MacBook I purchased in January, 2011. Now, iPhoto '11, which was installed into the computer when I bought it, will not open. Instead, it gives an error message: "You can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete." On top of that, I cannot locate iLife '11 that I installed into the computer in the applications folder. I'm sure I installed the program because it told me installation was complete. I restarted the computer and am still having the same problems. Thanks for any help.
iLife 11 is not an application. It's a suite of applications of which iPhoto 9 is one. Did you purchase the boxed version of iLife 11? If you did then you'll need to reinsatll iPhoto from the iLife 11 disk. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder,

Then install iPhoto 9 from the iLife 11 disk.
OT -
Having loaded "pages" from the apps store I dragged the icon to the dock for ease of launching in the future - although there in a space the icon doesn't show. I've carried out the process a few times but to no avail. Then last night I launched skype from the dock and as it loaded the icon just vanished. Again the space is there and I can launch from it there is no icon.
As a point of interest this is only happening on the "air" not on macbook or imac where everything is at it should be.That's what I was afraid of. i ran the test this morning with all the chips in again, but forgot to disconnect my devices and got no errors. It also passed memtest last night. Can't remember if I had it plugged in or not.
There is clearly something wrong, but it is intermittent.
I am going to try the separate tests today and call OWC. If they'll replace them all, I'll just do that.
Also renewed my apple care just in case. That has saved me twice -

You say you are running Mac OS X 10.6.8, that does not come with FaceTime preinstalled. To confirm this, open > About this Mac, and tell us which OS X version you have.
If it's 10.6.x, open the Mac App Store and purchase FaceTime, or upgrade to a newer OS X version -

This could be a plist corruption problem, but I'm not sure.
Sometimes, the preference list files get corrupted. You can usually just remove them and they'll get re-created. This may require you to reset certain settings. A notable exception to this is the Mail plist which actually stores the Library structure of your email accounts. Deleting the Mail plist will definitely cause lots of problems, but is recoverable.
The plist files are stored in the /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ folder. They usually have the naming convention of com.company.programname.plist.
A simple troubleshooting technique is to move a suspect plist file out of the Preferences folder and start up the app, again. It will re-create the plist from scratch.
In your case, I would try the com.apple.dock.plist. You can use Activity Monitor to kill the Dock app and it will restart. Or, you can log out and log back in.
There is a new file with Leopard called com.apple.dock.db. I haven't figured out what it does, but you might try moving it out. If anything gets worse, you can move the old file back in replacing the newly created one.
This all sound somewhat odd, so I don't know if this will help. -
Firefox offered to create a new profile for me, but took forever to do so so eventually I had to shut off the computer. In restarting, initially Firefox would not open as "Profile could not be found". Having moved Firefox to my trash folder, when I attempt to install Firefox again, it completes the download, then does not appear in my Applications folder.
This is likely caused by a problem with the profiles.ini file and the profile marked as Default=1 in this file is not present on the hard drive.

You can use one of these to make Firefox create/use a new default profile:
*Delete the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile
*Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
*Use "Choose Folder" when you create a new profile to select the location of a lost profile and recover this profile

Download and save the full Firefox installer to the desktop and start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon.

Hi,
With Visual Studio 2005, the Icons at the top of the CrystalReportViewer do not show on Web Application Project. However, If I have a web site project, they are all shown. Please note that I found number of posts that people not seeing the icons after the deployment but my case is the development environment. Once I pass the first hurdle I may face further problems like the other people, so If you happen to know answers in both situations, please share your knowlegde..
PS: I created two new types of projetcs and have just a CrystalReportViewer on the default page. Data is shown fine but the icons are missing (red X placeholders instead of icons) in Web Application Project. Very straight forward test.We havent tried that. We changed the link in the web part to access an html page that claims that the report is loading. It states in the html that if the page doesnt load to "click here" which redirects to the crystalreportviewer. Its a temp fix for it. One thing we are looking at is the 64 bit version of the Sharepoint integration kit. That may contain a reportviewer webpart.

Why doesn't Quicktime 7 Pro show in my Applications Folder or in my Dock?
I installed QuickTime 7 Pro (Leopard) on my iMac and registered it. The program does not appear in my Applications Folder or in my Dock. How do I fix this?
QuickTime Pro is not a separate application, so you won't find it by searching your system. A Pro key just unlocks the extra features of QuickTime Player and the QuickTime browser plugin. If the Pro labels have gone from the menu items, then your key is correctly registered and you should be good to go.
