Mac Installation: AIR update needed to continue, then error in registration panel

After uninstalling CFEclipse, CFBuilder Beta, Aptana and loading Eclipse in clean mode, I installed the plugin on my macbook pro intel. The first error I got was something to do with the incorrect AIR plugin and the message posted a link to the download site. I of course didn;t copy the link and then later was planning on googling it. Then once the restart of Eclipse happened, there was a second error saying that ColdFusion Builer could not load the registration and I had two choices, okay or cancel. Now after googling for this issue it does not seem that anyone else has had this problem. There is something related to AIR and the installation that caused it to fail. This was after uninstalling everything except my Java and Andriod plugins (JUnit, JAutodoc, Ant, Groovy, FindBugs, Android SDK, etc).

Okay I figured it out after some digging into the AIR issue.
For Mac users, if you don't have AIR installed you will need it for CFBuilder. Now the caveat is that AIR installs improperly because once installed uses only System user permissions. By default it does not have Administrator permissions so you need to go and reset the permissions for it to works properly. You will see this if you navigate to /Library/Frameworks/Adobe AIR.framework. This directory needs to be set to Admin read/write perissions and apply to all subdirectories. Then go ahead and install ColdFusion Builder and it installs without any issues. You still need to configure any application templates to have the builder plugin as the default editor if you are installing on top of a pre installation of Eclipse that previously had Aptana and CFEclipse installed. I'm not sure if this is an AIR or ColdFusion Builder bug but it is certainly going to cause Mac users some pain if this issue isn't either reconciled or documented.

  • Is Mac Installer 1.0 needed for update to Mavericks from 10.8.6 Snow Leopard?

Somehow I got a notice that I could update directly to Mavewricks for free from my current 10.6.8. I have no memory of how I got the notice. About the same time I got a download for Mac Installer 1.0 which I never asked for and never came through System Update . . . it was just there among my downloads. At first I thoght that the Mac Installer was necessary somehow beforehand for the Mavericks upgrade. Now I am very suspicious, given what I have been able to turn up about the Mac Installer and its association with malware. Can anybody shed soe light?

There is an Apple Software Installer Update 1.0 which probably should be installed. http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1512
If there is something else, then I would just trash it.

  • Installation of Photoshop Elements 7 stops, then deinstalls before registration

    Hi Forum,
I wanted to install my Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 again on my PC (Windows 8.1).
It already worked on this PC, but it stopped working because a .dll was missing and it said it could be fixed with reinstalling the Program.
But now, when I want to install everything starts fine. I agree to the terms of licence, I can confirm where it should be installed and I can type in my serial number.
Then it starts installing. When it comes to registration it stops and deinstalls everything again.
Then a window pops up telling me that the process was disrupted before ending and I should try again, if I want to end the installation.
Photoshop is definitly not on my PC anymore, so it can not be, that the old version is causing a conflict withe the new installation.
I do not know anymore what .dll it wanted and I dont know how to find out now.
    Can somebody help?
    Thanks!

I got a 85 W adapter (used for Mac Book Pro) for a Mac Book AIR. Can I continue to use the 85 W Power adapter instead of buying another 45 W one?

Yes. The Macbook Air will only pull the max Wattage from the adapter as it's supposed to.

Hold down the option key during start up - you will be given the choice of which partition to use (Macintosh HD or Windows). I am having the same problem - Windows 7 seems to have installed but it goes to a blank black screen and there is nothing to do but force a reboot. I too have an i3 iMac... • To Upgrade from 10.6.8 to Mavericks, do I need to add an update called "Mac Installer" 1.0?

I hope to update to Mavericks from Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Somehow--I don't remember how--I received this update called Mac Installer version 1.0  2.9 mb. I have been suspicious, so it is in my trash. This was received about 3 months ago. The only thing similar I can find is an Apple Software Installer dated in March 2012, but it is only 1.3mb. Is anyone aware of this kind of update for Snow leopard in order to go to Mavericks?

  • Install Maveric using USB installer on a Mac Book Air 2.1 following a new SSD?

    Hi,
Mine Mac book Air 2.1 [2GB,128GB SSD, 2.13GHz] seem to suggest a need for a SSD replacement. Mt Mac book Air was shipped with Snow Leopard 2nd Sept 2009.
My question is is it possible to install Maveric OS X directly on my new SDD if I use a Maveric install USB that is created on another Mac Book Pro? Or Do I have to first install my Snow Leopard Disk that was shipped with my computer and update to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 combo v1.1 on the new SSD prior to migrate to Maveric OS X using my created Maveric USB installer?
    Thanking you for your assistance
    Regards

I don't quite understand what you have done. But to use the SSD you must first partition it then format it:
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Once you complete the above, then quit Disk Utility and return to the installer. Complete the installation of Snow Leopard. When you have done that restart the computer from the SSD to see if it's working properly. You can then upgrade to Mavericks by re-downloading Mavericks from the App Store.
Only OWC can tell you if there is a firmware update for their drives. We have no way of knowing that.
