Mac iTunes doesn't detect iPhone 5

No response at all when connect to MacBook Air
MacBook Air 2012  Yosemite 10.10  All updates installed   iPhone 5 with iOS8.1.2 installed

I'm in a very embarrassing situation because I tried to restore my iPhone with no backup. The restoration failed and I thought maybe that was because iTunes was not up to date. I updated iTunes and now iTunes doesn't respond to the connection. Also my iPhone doesn't boot anymore. It tells me to connect it to iTunes and I can't.

Hi everyone! I tried to install the new iOs 7 on my iphone 4, but it wasn't completed (showing error 4005). Now, my iphone is stuck on the itunes' logo with the usb cord, and I can't use my phone. And itunes doesn't detect my iphone when I connect it on my computer, so I can't put it in recovery mode or someting like that... What can I do?? I tried everything they tell me to do in the apple support but nothing seems to work. Thank you!

    No problem, glad to help!
Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine.

  • After 4.3.4 update the ipPad is in Recovery mode and iTunes doesn't detect the device

    Hello,
brand new Win7 installation, restored iTunes folder and installed latest 10.4. iTunes64 bit.
Hooked up both my iPad and iPhone4
    Detected new firmware 4.3.4
and bang, both devices are now stuck into recovery mode.
No matter I set the iPad/iPhone into Recovery or DFU mode, iTunes will not detect any device for recovery.
    Uninstall/Install iTunes => no change
The driver will display that the units is detected and in DFU or Recovery mode, but iTunes doesn't detect the device.
Tried TinyUmbrella etc but no fix
    Any other hint?
    Best Regards
    Uwe

Place the device in DFU mode (google it) then restore.

  • Latest version of Itunes doesn't detect my internet connection.

Itunes doesn't detect/see my internet connection. I reloaded it twice, When in Itunes, I can't download anything from the Itunes site. No tutorials,no software updates, nada! I tried it in the previous version of the Itunes setup too. Same problem.
I have an HP laptop, Vista Home premium (works fine anywhere else), Nortons 36O (disabled), ATT DSL
I am running Firefox too, and tried to connect with Internet Explorer 9.xx, didn't work either. Some of the messages indicate that the Proxy Server info is missing/incorrect as configured. This is out of my league. I don't have enough background to TS this issue myself.
Seems like a sporatic, but common problem with other users as well. I need Itunes to run, correctly so that I can fix my Iphone. The limited diagnostics found in Itunes tells me that the phone is ok and communicates with the test software. But I can't get any deeper than that.
    Thank you for your help.

I think you're missing the point. If you rip or purchase music at 128k, 256k, 320k etc. then there is no benefit to be had converting it to Apple Lossless. The files will get bigger but the data thrown away to make the previous lossy version cannot be reclaimed. If, on the other hand, you routinely rip in .wav or .aiff then you should end up with smaller files of the same quality which is indeed worth the effort.

I think, no... I know you failed to provide complete details of everything that had been attempted.
Then you responded with a smart donkey comment.
Best of luck finding a resolution.

  • IPod touch 3g stuck in recovery mode, but iTunes doesn't detect it.

I tried several times to update the software on my ipod, but each time was interrupted by my computer going to sleep (pc, Windows 7).  Now my ipod is stuck in recovery mode, and itunes doesn't detect it at all.  The ipod also won't turn off.  I have tried all the troubleshooting here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 and here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808?viewlocale=en_US.  Please, does anyone else have any ideas?  TIA

Thanks, I'll try it out, and update here.  It might take a little while for the battery to drain without being used.

  • My iPhone won't turn on and iTunes doesn't detect it.

So I recently won an original iPhone in an auction on eBay (for parts or not working.)
The seller mentioned that it gets stuck on the apple logo which it does, and iTunes also doesn't detect it.
I really need help, how can I restore the phone?
I really need this, as I can't call/text anyone at the moment!
    Please help!

If you're sure it's charged, then there's a problem - perhaps why it was put up on eBay.
Does it have a sim card installed?  Is there absolutely nothing coming up on its screen (is it black)?  Or do you still get the Apple logo?  It may previously been jailbroken, in which case we can't help.  I would suggest that you contact the provider on eBay and ask about jailbraking.

  • ITunes does not detect iPhone - ON A MAC

I have seen many posts on this topic, but the ones I read were all on PCs. I am running a Mac.
    • 1GHz PowerPC G4
    • 768 MB DDR SDRAM
    • iTunes 7.4.2 (4)
    • All updates on iPhone
iTunes does not recognize the iPhone. I have to keep restarting iTunes and reconnecting the iPhone approx. 4-5 times before it picks it up.....
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

It looks like your computer is USB 1.1 only. Your Multi-Function Printer (MFP) is USB 2.0, but running at USB 1.1 speeds (Up to 12Mb/sec). There is also the potential something to do with the printer or printer software could be interfering as well. Have you tried connecting the iPhone with the printer disconnected?
USB 1.1 may work, but its not supported, and issues like you are describing can occur with USB 1.1.
    Hope this helps,

  • ITunes doesn't detect my iPhone, iTunes doesn't detect my iPhone, iTunes doesn't detect my iPhone

I've been using iTunes with my iPhone 3G for over 3 years without a problem.  This week, iTunes no longer recognizes my iPhone.  It is recognized by Windows, is working properly in Device Manager, and the Apple Mobile Device service is Started and Automatic. I am running Windows 7 64bit.  I followed the troubleshooting directions to retart the Apple Mobile Device, and then the directions to completely uninstall iTunes, reboot and reinstall the latest version.
Still no joy.  My iPhone is immediately recognized on my husband's computer/iTunes. His iPod is recognized by my iTunes.
    What next?

Try restarting the iPhone while it's connected to the PC. See if that makes a difference.
If not, try disabling anti virus software and turning off the Firewall.
    Disable antivirus software
Turn Windows Firewall on or off
Then see if iTunes will recognize the iPhone.

  • ITunes doesn't detect my iPhone

    Hi all,
I've got the latest version of iTunes and an iPhone 4 running on iOS 5.1.1. And yes I don't want to update my iOS to 6.0.1 for obvious reasons.
Everything was fine until yesterday. But since yesterday my iTunes wouldn't recognise my iPhone over wifi. Am able to connect it via a USB and sync but not over wifi.
      Tanx in advance.
And yup am from India so wishing you all a happy Diwali

Mahesh - the simple fact of your question regarding an external drive, helped me put 2 and 2 together. I have just started using a 2TB WD USB hard drive to maintain back up's. I had turned the external drive off for some time as I was having CPU cooling problems and the auto archiving SW put a real load on the CPU. During this time iTunes and iPhone worked fine. To ensure this was the root cause, I shut the system down, removed the USB connection to the external drive and made sure to turn off the auto back up SW once booted up again. Like magic, removing the external drive allowed iTunes to recognize the iPhone and i am back in business. Thanks for the hint, my problem is SOLVED!

  • Computer doesn't detect iPhone

I have a 1st gen iPhone and when I plug it into my computer, it doesn't detect it. I know the USB works because the phone is charging. What can I do to get my computer to recognize the device?
I am using a desktop Mac with OS 10.5.7 and iTunes is v 8.2.1.
If you need other info, let me know.

Try re-installing itunes on top of the current itunes (do not un-install itunes).
