Mac iTunes vs. PC iTunes

Is it possible to transfer songs and associated iTunes files from a PC laptop to a new iMac? My sister just got a new iMac and wants to transfer all songs from her PC to the iMac so she can use her iPod with the new iMac. Aren't there iTunes library compatibility issues? For some reason, I seem to remember reading that this is not possible. SO, any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Could you tell us a little more about what you want to do. Bear in mind that iTunes has nothing to do with your iCloud account.

I am trying to follow the instrucitons for moving my iTunes account to a new Mac from a PC. I wish to use the External Hardrive Method, (also I have too much info to fit into the free iCloud space) ... and I am wondering how to handle several iTunes accounts for my son and daughter. We all share the itunes media folder, but I use the control-click option to open either mine, my sons, or my dauthers account.

Yes, you copy each one's iTunes folder to the /Home/Music/ folder in each of their separate user accounts. You will first need to create a separate user account for each of them using the Users & Groups preferences.

Here's what I did:
First I tried the Winsock reset in the Command prompt. Nothing changed.
Next, I tried the instructions on http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123. The only other program that came up on the 'Winsock Providers' tab on the program was 2 Windows Live applications, which I can do without. So I deleted all Windows Live Applications.
I did the Winsock reset in the Command Prompt again and rebooted my comp.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. iTunes keeps freezing at various stages of the sync, then shows the candy cane-striped bar with either the words 'Finishing sync' or 'Cancelling sync', before showing the Apple logo.
Sometimes, iTunes gets to the syncing stage - "Copying # of ####" - where it will trudge through the first, second and third tracks before flashing "Copying 4 of ####" for a split second and I catch "Cancelling sync" briefly before the Apple logo appears.
Again, I've repeated the steps I mentioned in my previous post. Does ANYONE know when the new version of iTunes is set to be released?! This one is driving me INSANE, to say the least!!

You can get your information back if you have previously done a backup in iTunes or iCloud.

Yes, the file extension is M4R. Does it matter where I save these files on my Macbook? I then opened them in Itunes and played them. I don't know how that could have happened. Go through the folders for the rolls and separate the 2005 rolls from the 2006 rolls, then import the 2006 rolls.

So with my current setup it's pretty nice. I've got my iMac in my bedroom that holds all of my music, my mac mini in my living room that is my media center. I've also go an airport express next to my iMac so that I can play music synchronously in my living room and my bedroom.
My question is that if it is possible to have the speakers connect to the local mac appear in the iTunes remote speakers menu on other macs. I hope that makes some sort of sense?
