Mac keeps waking up in the middle of the night
So my Mac's been waking up in the middle of the night, and I want to keep my electricity bill down. Anything in these 5 console lines point anything out, internet detectives?

Thank you all!
Also try looking through this thread on MacRumors.
Try ejecting and removing connected devices one-by-one. Turn off Airport and Bluetooth. Some programs may be preventing sleep; try quitting programs one-by-one to identify the culprit.

My Mac keeps starting up to the disk utilities screen. Im guessing i need to repair the disk or load my backed up memory but i am unsure of how to do that. I have all my memory backed up on an external hard drive.
The Disk Utility screen has instructions right on it.
Just read them and follow the directions.
Readers can help if you get stuck.
It opens with something like, "select a disk, volume, or image".
You click on your drive in the left column, top item.
The next screen spells out how to do a ( Repair Disk ).
You have a Macintosh. It will not cut your hand off.
If something dangerous is coming, it will say stuff like, "this will erase all the data on your drive. Do you want to proceed?" -
Hey (: I have the new iPad and I want to ask what is "healthier" for the battery : turn the device off in the night or keep it on during the night ? Thank you !
BTW, statements like
"Use the device until the battery has drained to the point of self-shutdown. Basically, use it until it turns itself off."
in articles like the one at http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/ are complete BS and if you do follow their "advice", your battery life will be severely hampered. Particularly if you also follow one of the comments: "Step One.One: Leave the device for 5+ hours before start charging. This will fully drain the battery." Well, the guy that advised the latter certanly doesn't know anyhting about lithium batteries and the damage deep discharging does to them.
Again, what the article (and the above-cited comment) advices is complete b*llsh*t and noone should really do this. -
My Mac turns itself on during the night?!
I've noticed that my MBP seems to turn itself on during the night - I think around 1am. I've looked in the Energy Saver Schedule and there's nothing set up for it to come on.
I'm a little confused as to what may be causing this. Any ideas would be much appreciated.Do you have eyeTV on your Mac? This is what I've found to be the cause of my Mac turning itself on at 1am every morning.
If so, does your Mac turn itself on at a set time every day? If so, check what time that is in the Console. You'll need this so you can manually set your clock in order to test it all out.
I then decided to delete all preferences with elgato in the name in both my Mac prefs and User prefs (make sure you have your eyeTV serial number as you'll need to enter this when you next start up eyeTV.
Okay, then start up eyeTV and go through the whole process - just make sure you uncheck things that will be automatic i.e. channel listings etc.
Then quit eyeTV and set your computer clock to just around 40 seconds before it turns your Mac on and then put it to sleep - if it doesn't wake up then great - if it does then you'll need to delete the elgato prefs from just your User prefs and start up eyeTv again - go into the prefs of the program and uncheck anything that appears automatic i.e. automatically check for updates etc
Hopefully this'll work as it's worked for me - a bit of a pain but a least I no longer get woken up with the famous Mac BOOOONNNGGGG -
We have about 20 iPhone's in our environment and syncing and updating them has become a real chore lately. Everyone has their own iTunes account and apps that they use. Is there a way that they can be synced, backed up and updated over the air (not iCloud) to the same MAC? Because we are in the financial sector we will not be able to use iCloud. Should we look into some sort of private cloud and if so; any suggestions on how to accomplish it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
JWe have several macs, several ipods, a couple of iphones, several itunes store accounts. So far no problem. You might have to share passwords if you want to share content. I think iStore accounts can only be used on up to 5 computers. We have 7, so have to be a little careful about that. I don't think there is a limit on how many iDevices can be used with one account. I also don't think there is a limit on how many accounts can be used on a single computer (might be wrong about that). You have to be logged into the iStore to download content, and your computer has to be registered with the account to use the content, but once it is on, and registered, syncing to an iPod is not a problem (you do not have to login in again for each account the content was purchased from). I'm just glad I only have two kids, and one wife - things could get trickier in a big family with . . .

My mac keeps freezing and showing the color wheel how can that be fixed
my mac is soooo slow. It is very frustrating. Has been noticeable worse since downloading Lion. Any suggestions
Your machine is 4 years old, it's too dated to run the fat cow Lion.
Revert to Snow Leopard as it's faster and better for that model.

Migrating to new Mac, keep some apps in the old.
I have just migrated from my old MacBook to a new MacBookPro.
I have a bunch of applications buyed trought the AppStore which are now living happy in my new MacBookPro.
Now I would like to do a clean install in my old MacBook and try to sell it second hand. Some of the apps purchased have no utility in the new mac (OSX Lion and new versions of iPhoto and iMovie) since I have now new versions preinstalled in the new mac, but will be valuable in the old one (and I have paid for them).
Is there any problem if I use the same Apple Id in AppStore at the same time in both computers. Will I be able to download again in the old Mac those apps not installed in the new one? Since the versions I have are probably older then current ones in the AppStore, will this be a problem? If you had accepted the iLife apps on the older mac, you will be creating a problem for the next owner, who won't be able to accept those apps. You can't get around it through a clean install.
You could do the future owner a favour and contact iTS to unadopt ownership from that old Mac. -
Mac keeps waking audio card during sleep
Hey all,
don't know which part of my chain is causing this issue, whether it's the:
- MacBook Pro 13"
- Apple Thunderbolt Display
- OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)
- Apogee Duet sound card
This is the issue:
When my laptop goes into sleep, I can hear the audio card waking up every 30 seconds or so, sending pops through my speakers. It's clearly something that the OS is doing by not completely going to sleep. I tried restarting and whatnot, but it doesn't seem to stop. It's been doing it since the latest update to 10.8.4.
Anyone else? Any suggestion?
Thanks,

My mac keeps closing all of the applications by itself- how do I stop this from happening?
My mac closes out of any programs I have open if I let it sit for more than a couple of minutes. This is a new development, so I am not sure if I have some kind of virus or if it is a problem with the computer. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
I have the same problem on my Macbook Pro with OSX. The computer does not shut down. When using any application like; internet, photoshop, or watching movies. For example; im watching netflix, I cant watch a show without the internet window slide to the left and take me to the desktop 5 to six times in 45 minuets. Sometimes I dont have to be watching anything. In fact, my window minimized itself at the start of this sentence. Its really annoying and I would like for some help.

I click on the Safari logo, page opens but then quickly after closes and the message "Safari Web Content quit unexpectedly" opens with a whole load of computer jargon below.
Any ideas how to fix?
ThanksThis crash is caused by a bug in the way Safari synchronizes with iCloud.
Uncheck the box marked Safari in the iCloud preference pane. You may also need to do as follows.
Back up all data.
Triple-click the text on the line below on this page to the clipboard, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Quit Safari.
Select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A folder window should open with a file named "Bookmarks.plist" selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the folder open.
Relaunch Safari. It will open with the default set of bookmarks. Delete them all. Select
File ▹ Import Bookmarks
from the Safari menu bar. Import from the bookmarks file you moved to the Desktop. Arrange the bookmarks as you wish.
Select from the menu bar
History ▹ Clear History
and confirm. As far as I know, you don't need to reset Top Sites, but I'm not sure of that.
You can then try to re-enable Safari in iCloud. It may start to crash again. In that case, you'll have to leave synchronization disabled until a more permanent solution turns up. Sync bookmarks with iOS devices in iTunes instead. -
