Mac loses internet after wake from sleep, still connected to router

Hi All,
So, I see similar threads, but I'm not sure if this is the same problem. Here's what happening:
-When I wake my Mac from sleep it usually (but not always) loses its internet (but not wifi) connection.
-The loss happens 10-15 seconds AFTER it wakes up. If I go to Safari/Firefox right after it wakes up, I can bring up webpages fine for about 10 seconds. Then, suddenly, pages stop loading.
-The wifi stays connected (I have an airport router) the whole time, and if I go to the airport utility, everything looks fine.
-I know this is not a problem with my internet or my router because I have tried opening web pages on both my iPhone (connected to wifi with cellular off) as well as my PC laptop (I only have it for one program that the company does not make for the Mac and I need for work, haha), and both browse the internet just fine even though my Mac says there is no internet.
-If I restart my Mac, the internet works fine. This is a simple fix, however it's also annoying to have to do it all the time.
-This is happening in different locations, not just on my wifi. It happens in coffee shops, hotels, and airports too.
-Not sure if this is related, but I have also been getting messages in iTunes saying that I need to authorize my computer or apps will be deleted.
-I completely deleted Norton, as I had a hunch it was responsible for this problem (since the internet was disconnecting right after getting an "add location" message from that program). However, even with it completely off my computer, I'm still having the issues.
Any suggestions???

What Mac OSX version are you running? "iOS 8.2" as currently shown in your profile cannot run on any Mac computer, only Apple mobile devices.
If your computer has automatically connected to a lot of networks, say, during travel, that might hinder waking as the computer looks for what networks it remembers. Go to System Preferneces > Network and select your wirelss connection from the left-hand pane. Then click the "Advanced" button in the main pain. That will show the list of networks you Mac has stored:
There could be a lot. Clear out all networks stored there except those you use on a weekly basis. The little box with the "-" icon clears unwanted networks. Restart the computer and see if thising work better.
-I completely deleted Norton, as I had a hunch it was responsible for this problem (since the internet was disconnecting right after getting an "add location" message from that program). However, even with it completely off my computer, I'm still having the issues.
Download and run Etrecheck, a safe way to post a snapshot of your config without revealing any personal information. I'm concerned you did not get all of Norton, or have some other dreck like CleanMyMac or MacKeeper lurking.

  • BUG: Sandisk USB flash drive in "half-mounted" state after wake from sleep

My Sandisk Cruzer Crossfire 4GB Flash Drive is left in a half-mounted state after wake from sleep. The Finder believes the drive is still mounted, the icon is on the Desktop. However opening a file on the drive, or trying to eject the drive, results in a long beach ball, followed by a message that I removed the drive without Ejecting it first. The same drive continues to work fine on my Tiger machine, and on PCs.
    Bug Report:
    Setup:
    Macbook 1st Gen (2.0 Ghz)
Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 Clean Install
Sandisk Cruzer Crossfire 4GB USB Flash Drive (in either port)
    Repro:
    Plug in the drive.
Close the MacBook to put it to sleep
    Reopen the MacBook
    Result:
The lights on the flash drive never light back up after wake from sleep. Navigating the drive, or trying to eject it results in a "you removed the device without ejecting it first" message.
    Expected:
Drive should still be mounted and accessible after waking back up.

It may be a design flaw in the device. Mac OS X does a lot more power management than most other OSes, including tearing devices down to little or no power during sleep. It is possible that the device simply misbehaves due to corrupted memory state or reports a substantially different GUID or something similarly bizarre upon wake. (Okay, that last one wouldn't technically be a power management issue....)
If it doesn't have any problems except when sleeping the system, I would just make sure I unmounted it before putting the machine to sleep and wouldn't worry about it. Maybe check with Sandisk to see if they have a firmware updater for the device.

  • Left USB-Port dead after wake from sleep. Just restart helps.

I hoped Apples keyboard-Update today would solve my biggest hate-bug in this buggy POS called Leopard. It didn't.
As usual on my Leopard-Macbook Pro, no device will work on the left USB-Port after I waked the computer from sleep. Just a restart helps. I hoped this update to solve this, because it replaced among others "IOUSBFamily.kext".
Terminal gives a timeout error for the internal USB-Hub after wake from sleep. I assumed this should be related.
    I'm really angry now.
When will Apple solve the most urgent problems in Leopard?
Was 10.5.1 just smoke and mirrors to make (fool people into...) people upgrade who intended to wait until the first maintenance-update?
Was Leopard Apples attempt to make Windows-Users more comfortable by putting in some heavy extra-bugs and blue screens?
FIX IT FINALLY! And f... don't wait for Macworld to release 10.5.2. It's desperately needed and the current state of Leopard will leave some people very sad at christmas after getting their first Mac. First impression counts and many more peoples first contact with the Mac will be at christmas...

Apple knows the problem and for some reason they are stumped on fixing it. this is so bad I can't believe it. On my macbook pro with Leopard installed, USB left port is dead after sleep. Only restarting can power it back up. I have to restart every day to use my external hard drive for time machine or when putting my flash drive in the port.
Come on already Apple. This is a SERIOUS, SERIOUS problem.
    Fix it.

  • My macbook pro (lion 10.7.2) takes several minutes to connect to the internet after waking from sleep.  Is there any way to make this instant?

    Hi
My Macbook Pro 15 inch takes several minutes to be able to connect to the internet after waking from sleep.  Does anyone else have this problem and is there a fix?

The message that comes up when I click on "TomTom Home Install" is "You cannot open Home Install because Power PC applications are no longer supported." Does this mean that the TomTom, which is absolutely vital to my life - well, not literally but you know what I mean - can no longer be used with my MacBook Pro?
What that means is that is can't be used with Lion 10.7.  PowerPC was the chip Apple used up until 2006 when they switched to Intel.  At that point, they created the Rosetta emulator to allow for PPC support for 5 years.  They finally dropped the support with the release of Lion.  It will only work with OS X 10.6 or earlier.  The other option is to purchase a new GPS, which can be had for $100 for a decent one.

  • 10.9.4 update causing internet browsing errors after wake from sleep

    Macbook Pro Late 2011, OS X 10.9.4
So before the 10.9.4 update, I had no problems with Wifi and wake from sleep.
Now, after the update, random web pages either don't load (Chrome & Firefox) or return a "Memory Not Allocated" error (Safari). Also, my Work VPN application stops being able to connect.  The related Console error is:
acvpnagent[104]: Function: getInterfaces File: ../../vpn/Common/Utility/NetInterface_unix.cpp Line: 1277 missing PPP destination address for interface "utun0"
The only solution I've found is restarting.
    Any ideas?

Remove the Cisco VPN client. Use the built-in client, if possible.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and (unless otherwise specified in this comment) I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button. The uninstaller might also be accessed by clicking the Customize button, if there is one.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to restart the computer in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, there may be no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

  • Connection Lost After Wake From Sleep

I am using a Macbook Pro and Linksys WRT150N W/L router. Every time my MBP wakes from sleep, I lose my internet connection. My menu bar still shows that I'm connected to the network, but I lose all connectivity. I cannot connect to internet or my router settings unless I do a complete restart. Network preferences shows connected to network but no connection to my router IP address under TCP/IP tab in the advanced settings. I also have a drop out of signal a few times an hour. My iMac DV does not experience the drop outs or connection loss at anytime. I have reset my router numerous times and used default factory settings all with the same results. Does anyone have an idea what the problem may be? Thanks.

I was always experiencing drop outs as far as what my signal was showing in my menu bar. It would drop out even if I was on top of my router. I had upgraded to 10.4.11 and the day after I did that, the problems started. I thought I might as well upgrade to 10.5 to see if that might help it. I think the 10.4.11 had done something to my W/L card and upgrading to 10.5 wouldn't have helped it unless I upgraded from 10.4.10 to 10.5, skipping 10.4.11 all together. I'm gonna bring my router and MBP into the genius bar and see what they can tell me about. Thanks for replying. I'm glad and sad to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing these symptoms.

  • MAC AIR Crashes on wake from sleep

    Dear All,
I have a user's Mac Air exhibiting the ubiquitous 'wake from sleep' issue that seems to have reared its head at every OS since 10.2, increasingly occurring with or without various apps running at time of sleep.
Upon tapping space bar after a night's sleep, we get a login screen with sometimes the desktop background, sometimes black, but always with the login panel available but tantalisingly NO blinking cursor or ability to enter password into the box for logging in.
Solution even after 20-40 mins (user is a patient person :-) is to press and hold the power button.
Syslog examination upon reboot shows nothing at all for the corresponding time period, just the info pertaining to the hard reboot.
...This last fact makes me think it is below the OS level and to do with the SSD power management / SMC / firmware relevant to both the above - if I am correct, after a couple of hours sleeping, as the laptop considers it is now in deep sleep, the contents of RAM get written to the SSD.
So, upon wake up calls from peripherals or built in mouse/trackpad, IF it cannot load the data written to the (still sleeping??) SSD back into RAM, then of course logging in will present a problem ?
I'd love to finally get to understand this completely, especially as it has occurred with all recent versions of the MAC OS, and on pretty much all hardware (acc to google).
Like many of us over the years, with previous OS versions' wake-from-sleep issues I have just taken the varying anecdotal advice (run /sbin/fsck/ -f/y, or fix permissions, or reset PRAM / SMC / trash windowserver prefs / apply combo update etc etc etc, turn around three times and kiss a back issue of Mac User magazine) and moved on...
.... this time, with yet another OS version, this annoyingly prevalent bug undermines my enthusiasm for continuing with Apple (I rely heavily on various remote access apps and having a non-local machine not wake up for me could be be a huge issue).
Anyone delved deep into this one and come back with an answer ?
Currently I am toying with using terminal to remove the hibernation aspect of sleep ..
    Show settings:
      pmset -g
    Change:
      sudo pmset -a autopoweroff 0
    or, change aspects of it.
I am distressed though that the famously user friendly (and my personal favourite) OS has me resorting to its equivalent of the command line just to get a user's laptop to reliably wake from sleep - it's 2014 and this should have been sorted soooo many moons ago.
    Thanks for reading,
    Andy

  • Mail unresponsive after wake from sleep.

When my Retina Macbook Pro wakes from sleep, when i go to mail, it will often become unresponsive for a period of a few minutes - if i go and use safari/ other apps, it will normally resume normal use in its own time, alternatively, i must force quit and reopen to gain use of mail again.
I cant think of any configuration changes which caused this problem to begin, not after any particular software update of anything, am running the most up-to-date version of Mountain Lion - is anyone else seeing this problem and have a solution?

my problem on mail, is that sometimes when i quit it (cmd + Q) it will not quit. although the mail window is gone, but the app is still running in background. and i have to force close it only i can re-open it. and if i didn't force close it, i can't turn off my mac. using MBPr as well in Mountain Lion. really hoping for a solution to this problem.

  • Crashes after wake from Sleep after 10.8.1 update

2.5 Ghz Mac Mini (mid 2011), 8 Gigs of RAM
Since the day I upgraded to 10.8.1 I have had persistent crashes, 1 every 24 hours or so. It's always shortly after a wake from sleep. In all cases, it is impossible to switch to a random open application. But once I hit that application, no other application will respond to anything, including a Force Quit, or if it will force quit, it won't relaunch. A shut down will hang because an app refuses to quit. I can quit the Finder, but it won't relaunch. Have reinstalled Mountain Lion twice, zapped the PRAM, reset the SMC, checked and extensively tested the HD and RAM. Replaced RAM with original Apple RAM. Didn't help, so I swapped back to the RAM from Crucial. I can't think of anything else to try. Machine does not crash unless it has been asleep. Runs flawlessly when sleep is disabled. After a reboot (usually via a shut down via the power switch, start from scratch, check of the HD integrity, and then a clean restart) the machine will run fine, sleep and wake normally for about 24 hours. As near as I can tell from the logs, the hangs usually begin right after the Time Machine Backup after a wake from sleep finishes. If I don't allow the machine to sleep, there are no problems of any kind. Making me crazy. Did not occur under Lion or the .0 version of Mountain Lion. Is making me crazier than I normally am which is sorta serious.

Any solutions to this problem?  I too have this kernel panic, however it only happens about once a week.  Always upon wake from sleep as you've indicated.
FYI I don't have intego software, or an APC installed.  Nor am I using filevault.
This is on an up to date, MacBook Pro Retina.

  • Mac Pro Failed to wake from sleep

    Hello All,
I've had my Mac Pro since Aug. 2007. Never had any problems of any kind until this morning.
To wake from sleep (as I always do): depressed arrow key (10:43 AM). There was a delay - then the spinning beach ball for about 2 min. I did a hard shutdown, waited a bit, then restarted at 10:52 AM. Boot up was (as always) quick.
I logged into my (usual) non-admin account and observed:
When all start up items were loaded: Finder windows appeared approximately as follows:
    1. A window showing the (not sure of proper term) "internal folders" of main boot up volume.
    2. A window showing the internal folders stored on my mirrored RAID back up disk(s)
    3. A window showing the internal folders of my bootable back up.
    4. A window showing all 3 disk icons[ Main boot, Bootable backup and the RAID].
I closed all of these windows. [Didn't think too much about it but it's not normal to have these widows appear] SO -
    Next:
Then I logged out and logged into my admin account to check the system log with console.
It showed an event from last night which I could not interpret but it did not appear to reveal serious problems (something about not being able to make network connection).
But - the second item on the System Log showed the "wake from sleep" sequence (at 10:43 AM).
I'm going to post the entire wake from sleep log below but first I'll state what was obvious to me:
Startup of CPU #1, #2 and #3 appear first - there is NO #4 CPU!
The log for the manual startup at 10:52 showed some apparent problems as I note below.
Next: Once logged in as admin - I launched Activity Monitor just to assure myself that all four CPUs were at least registering - and they were / are.
Hoping someone here can more thoroughly analyze this log report and give me an idea of the cause of the failure to waken.
Naturally, I won't want to put the Mac Pro to sleep again until I'm sure this isn't a "permanent" problem requiring further action (including service, of course).
Also noticed a statement about some app not having correct permissions (apparently at the System level) and something about removing several orphaned files. There's a warning about CarbonCopyCloner scheduled tasks as well. But there my understanding ends.
    Thanks in advance:

    ==== end====

    Hello Alexandre,
First - thank you very much for taking time to offer thorough and informed advice.
However - as indicated in my last post, I have performed the first (and very basic) "test" - I checked to see if Xgrid was included in my network prefs and found that it was. I unchecked it because I don't have the setup to make use of processor resources on the other Mac I have in my home network. (And that other Mac is an old G4 eMac - not much help anyway!)
More specifically: it's apparent that I was using Xgrid "inappropriately" so I think the System Log really indicates that no connection can be found -because there isn't one!
I too still wonder about the "missing CPU 4" but, overall, I see no other indications that there's a problem. Activity Monitor shows all four CPU cores and they're all showing activity. I have not seen (or noticed) this in prior System Log reports so, if I see this again - I'll renew efforts to find it's significance and take appropriate action.
I then put my Mac Pro to sleep, waited a bit, then depressed an arrow key: the machine woke from sleep normally. This "solves" the immediate problem of abnormal wakening - at least I'm satisfied that it does and will continue monitoring for any similar "misbehaviors."
Power Management: I have purposely avoided doing anything with Power Management once I had it set to my liking. That is, I set the screen to sleep in 1 hour, I set the hard drive to "never" (sleep) and only use the Sleep menu command to put the Mac Pro to sleep. My dictum is to "not fix what isn't proved to be broken." Again - if I continue to have problems or new problems crop up, I will then go ahead and start making changes such as those you mention. (Like deleting com.apple.PowerManagemetn.plist)
Next: I did already run permissions repair and may do so again anytime I see problems which could be connected to permissions. Since I have "taken Xgrid" out of the picture, I don't think this particular permissions issue is going to be a problem under my current set up.
CarbonCopyCloner: Here we have a bit of a conundrum. I need! to keep CCC "available" to run scheduled back up tasks. I was given (a very expensive) 1TB wireless backup drive for Xmas and - through long trial and error - found that CCC is the most appropriate back up application for that drive.
For now: I consider that the problem is a bug in CCC and will contact Mr. Bombich about this.
Again: I do appreciate your pointing out this and the other things. You have helped me think through what could have been a very complex process in trouble shooting.
I think that my issue turned out to be simple: I may have accidentally touched the wrong key or key combination when I moved to wake the Mac Pro from sleep. I think that Xgrid was a problem but that now seems to be eliminated. The Mac Pro is now waking normally - which was my original objective.
Oh, and just to be clear: I forgot to mention above that I did re-examine the System Log and there are now no signs of the items in the log I posted originally here.

  • After Lion upgrade, having network issues after wake from sleep

After upgrading to Lion from 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011), I am unable to connect to the Internet after the computer wakes from sleep.  I should rephrase this - I am able to ping IP's and DNS (DNS servers are present) however none of my apps will connect (Safari, iChat, etc) -> they all indicate the Internet is unavailable.  I have two Airport Express's running 7.5.2 extending a WiFi network off an Airport Extreme running 7.5.2.  This issue is specific to waking from sleep.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be appriciated.

It's definitely linked to Time Machine and backups.
I think If I put my machine to sleep/close the lid and Time Machine happens to be performing a backup, when I open the lid again, the network connection is lost and I receive a bunch of errors about the backup disk being unavailable.
This means that if my mbp isn't in the middle of a backup when I put it to sleep, wifi comes back up without a problem.

  • Yosemite frozen for a few seconds after wake from sleep

So I open up the lid of my late 2012 Macbook Pro Retina and I instantly see whatever it was I was seeing before closing it, but I can't do anything for anywhere between 3 and 10 seconds... The problem exists whether my Macbook goes to hibernation or not (my sleep delay is set to a loooooong interval). I've already tried PRAM and SMC reset, tried a fresh install of Yosemite from recovery, etc. Nothing seems to change this behaviour. Maybe this problem is just too high profile and I'm whining about non-issues here, but this hasn't ever happened before, on any other Mac OS version I've ever had. And quite frankly, that sweet instant wake-from-sleep is something I was always proud of as a mac user. ;-) Now my mac is starting to behave like every Windoze version... ever! What gives?!
(PS: I have a Transcend JetDrive 720 480GB upgrade built in but the problem existed before the upgrade. And I'm running Yosemite 10.10.3 but that upgrade also had no impact on the issue.)

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
The test results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but whatever else you're told to do may not be. For others who choose to run it, I don't recommend that you post the test results on this website unless I asked you to.

  • Bluetooth devices lagging after wake from sleep sometimes.

I have the Apple bluetooth keyboard, magic mouse, and magic trackpad. All batteries are charged and I have tried others by the way. This issue only happens sometimes, as it has happened before, but stopped for a few months, and now happened again tonight. What is happening is that my laptop (macbook late 2009 with  mac os x 10.7.2) wakes from sleep (all default energy saver settings set and I am able to wake the macbook with any of the bluetooth devices), and my bluetooth devices mentioned above are laggy for about 15-45 seconds. What i mean by laggy is that when moving the mouse across the desk after the login screen is already fully loaded, it jumps and is clearly not tracking like it usually does. The bluetooth trackpad and keyboard experience this same issue.
Now the thing that leads me to believe it's bluetooth or software is that my macbook's built in keyboard and trackpad do not lag and function correctly as soon as the computer is woken from sleep and prompts me with my login screen. This also leads me to assume that it's not my computer running slowly or having too many processes or not enough memory. This problem happens even if I have no programs running (other than OS X's default processes). I have taken my macbook into the Apple genius bar thinking it was a bluetooth hardware issue, but they ran checks and confirmed that it was not and obciously, we could not get the issue to reproduce their at that time. I would love to hear from anyone who has experiecned this before, or is currently. We need to get Apple's attention with this issue because they have not listened to me when I submit a feekback form. This has been happening since 10.7.0 by the way. Thanks and happy holidays.
    macbook 6,1
    8gb memory
    mac os x 10.7.2 (happened on 10.7.0, and 10.7.1)
-I can wake my macbook with my bluetooth devices
-My built in macbook keyboard and trackpad do not experience this issue
-I don't see the "connected symbol" when the computer wake (everything is already connected)
-All default energy saver preferences set
-Using apple's rechargeable batteries for all three devices
    -minimal processes running
-devices function as normal after 15-45 seconds (it's not my desk)

I've got what sounds like the same problem with my new unibody MacBook Pro.
I've had the problem with both 10.6.1 and 10.6.2.
I also find that a reboot fixes things. In my case, I can sleep/wake multiple times with
no problem, but once the BT goes unresponsive upon wake, every subsequent sleep/wake
will suffer the problem until I next reboot.
I also discovered that in my case I can re-pair the non-responsive devices (two flavors
of Logitech mice and an Apple wireless keyboard) while in sick-BT mode and they will
work until I next sleep/wake, whereupon they will again fail to connect and my
choice is either to re-pair yet again, or reboot and have the problem go away, at least
    for awhile.
I'm trying to correlate my activity with my BT going out to lunch, but have yet to narrow
it down definitively. I have one or two data points that make me suspect it goes south
after I use VMware Fusion (Version 2), but I cannot yet rule that one completely in or out.

  • Bluetooth Unresponsive After Wake from Sleep

I have an issue where when my macbook pro wakes from sleep, the bluetooth mouse will not connect, and BT becomes unresponsive. Sometimes I can turn bluetooth off then back on and be OK, BUT 95% of the time, I have to restart the computer to get bluetooth back.
After waking, the BT appears to be on, I get the popup on the screen which tells me "connection lost" with a picture of a mouse. I can open BT preferences and turn BT off, but nothing happens. I can even recheck "on" but it is completely unresponsive.
    Things tried:
Allow BT to wake this computer is UNCHECKED
in activity monitor I have forced quit BLUED, but BT does not come back.
I have trashed the BT preference file Mac HD/library/preferences/com.apple.bluetooth.plist
I have reset SMC and PRAM
Tried a Logitech V470 and mighty mouse
Fresh install of 10.6.0, then upgraded to 10.6.1, then 10.6.2 (using combo)
Tried disabling steermouse, fresh batteries, holding my mouth right...
When the BT is not responding, the BT name either changes to 2.2.4f3 (which is the Apple BT software version), or it says "name not available".
Also in system profiler, when BT is not responding the BT "Hardware settings" section is missing. It starts with "services".
This is driving me crazy. Could this be hardware related? I feel it is more software, since on restart, the BT mice pair perfectly and work great. The never randomly disconnect.
This issue only happens when the computer resumes/wakes from sleep.
Everyone please provide feedback. I am the only one with this issue? I have scoured the net, and find very little regarding this exact issue. I am within my 90 days from buying, should I call Applecare or is it a waste of my time?
    Thanks for your help,
    Jeff
