Mac losing Wifi connection without no reason
An user from my company reports a problem with wifi connection.
They connect normally in one of availables connection in our office and after minutes working with device he lost the connection.
When this happen appears in WIFI status a message that MAC is searching for available networks (like if the user as turned off / turned on the WIFI).
What I already try
- Run Onyx to clean files, logs and other things
- Search to available updates or fixes of OS (no one available);
- Repair permissions;
- Repair disk.
I saw in other foruns and threads that this is know issue.
That is true? There isn't a solution for that?

Mac mini turns off without any reason
My Mac mini turns off without any reason. I just want to make a backup with time machine and after a while the computer doesn´t work anymore. I just see the start-screen with all the users and I had to sign with my user password. After the mac restarts, I had to start time machine again. I stopped energy-management, because I thought that might be the problem but not. Time machine should work the whole night, but I don´t want to sit the whole time next to the mac to wake him up every several minutes. What can I do?
From the menu bar, select
▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy
If there's a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, click it and enter your login password when prompted.
Click the Advanced button and, in the sheet that opens, uncheck the box marked

MacBook Pro losing WiFi connection. Problem with AirPort Card
My MacBook Pro keeps losing Wifi connection. Sometimes it says no AirPort Card is installed. It has also been freezing, and the only solution is to hold the power button to turn it off. Then I have to restart the computer, but everything I was working on is lost.
Any ideas what is wrong or how to fix?Sounds like your WiFi chip is going bad. Have you gotten it checked by an Apple Store rep ?
Have you deleted the contents of /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration, rebooted and tried ? -
IPad Keeps Losing Wifi Connection??
Hi,
About 2 days ago, my iPad 2 began losing wifi connection. I would have to tap "Forget this network" and then wait a bit and then tap on the network again and type in the password. After that, the iPad would gain wifi again until about 5-20 minutes later, it loses wifi connection AGAIN. Sometimes when I did that it still didn't even work! And it also bothers me because it still has the wifi sign in the top left corner of my ipad screen, even if the wifi connection is not working. This has happened continuously throughout the past 2 days. Sometimes, the wifi would work for a good amount of time before it was gone again, and sometimes it loses connection after like 3 minutes. But all the other electronics in my house are perfectly fine, it's just my iPad 2 that's been doing this.
I tried to tap "forget all network settings" and then restart my ipad, but that didn't help. I'm not sure if it's the iPad's problem (since all the other electronics work) or if it's the wifi.
Please help! This is very annoying.
(And i have a new update which is 7.1.2, but that's been there for a pretty long time bc I always forget to update it. But I don't think that's the problem.)Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Hi All
Was wondering if there is an easy way to switch between ethernet and wifi connection on Apple TV without having to disconnect the ethernet cable. The reason I ask is that I find it quicker to use my ethernet connection via a Netgear Powerline Home Theatre Set-up to stream Trailers and Movies on the Apple TV, however this is no good when connecting directly to my Mac to stream music or TV shows in iTunes, so revert to the wifi connection that I created on my Time Capsule to do this.
Would be handy if Apple TV had a menu option where you could manually change the connection type depending on what you were doing, as per above scenario.
Cheers

Unfortunately not. -
I have two problems actually, which I think are connected.
I installed a new hard drive and am in the process of returning my macbook pro to normal. I'm now using Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I want to be able to update to OS Lion.
When my computer is on it can connect to our wifi without any problems (so the password is working). However, everytime I restart, it looses the connection and does not automatically reconnect. This never happened before and I can't seem to figure out where I can change this. All I have to do to reconnect is go to the wifi symbol and choose our wifi code. It then automatically connects without me needing to type the access code.
The seconde problem is when trying to update to OS Lion, when in recovery mode, all I get is a screen asking me to connect to wifi. I choose our wifi and now I do have to type a password, but whatever I do, it does not accept the code. It has nothing to do with capslock or anything like that.
We are sharing our wifi with our neighbour, so changing the password is not an option. But is is just a simple letters and numbers password. Why not do a "Restore" in iTunes to set it back to factory settings? That will eliminate any previous information that is causing you issues in use. You will have an iPod which you can sync as if it is new with your settings and info.

How to sign in on a domain (account name) with a mac only wifi connected
Hello,
I'm a french IT and whant ton know if it's possible to connect a MAC PRO only wifi connected with multiple account name of domain?
Thanks to reply in french or basic english if it's possible . :-)First, you will have to get onto the WiFi. You can log onto the local Mac as the admin, enter the WiFi password, and get it so that it connects and reconnects after a Restart without issue.
Second, you have to get onto the Domain. If this (Active Directory or Open Directory) Domain is used to Store ALL User files, you will need to use:
Directory Utility
Directory Utility determines how a Mac OS X computer uses directory services, discovers network services, and searches directory services for authentication and contacts information. You use Directory Utility to:
• Configure advanced connections to LDAP directories, an Active Directory domain, and Network Information Services (NIS) domain
• Configure data mapping for LDAP directories  Define policies for searching multiple directory services for authentication and
contact information
• Enable or disable types of directory services and types of network service discovery
Directory Utility can connect to other servers on your network so you can configure them remotely.
For more information about using Directory Utility, see Chapter 8, “Advanced Directory Client Settings.”
Directory Utility is installed on every Mac OS X computer and can be accessed through Accounts preferences. -
IPad and iPhone keeps losing wifi connection.
Hi all,
So I'm having wifi connectivity issues that's rather annoying. On a daily basis, both my iPad 1st gen and my iPhone 4S disconnect from wifi and are then unable to connect until i restart my modem. Normally i would think its my modem acting up but no other device on the network has this problem. (All other devices are wifi also) Both my ipad and iphone are current on iOS updates, 5.1.1 and 6.0 respectively. I've tried restarting both devices as well but it doesn't help. Every morning I wake up and every night I get home they both refuse to connect. The iPad stays at my house while the phone remains with me. Any help/input would be great appreciated. ThanksAlthough there might be a deeper rooted issue with the iDevices, I did manage to solve the problem another way, I just forgot to give an update in the discussion.
I read in another forum or discussion that the problem might be my wifi signal. I didnt think so at first because it only happened with my iDevices. So, just to be safe, i purchased a high end router designed for extreme gaming and sure enough.. I havent had a single issue with with my iDevices losing connection. From the very moment i plugged it in...no issues. That was about 3 1/2 months ago. All my devices (Laptop, Xbox, Ps3, wii U, Iphone, and iPad) have Excellent connection at all times except when my modem (not the router i purchased) needs to restarted but thats normal and does not happen very often.
So if youre having any sort of connectivity issues with your WiFi i strongly suggest investing in an good router. I wont ever go without one ever again
Upon request, i will link the one i got, if anyones interested. -
IPad (3rd gen) losing wifi connection during BBC iPlayer downloads
Hi,
I am having a strange, app-specific problem with my iPad 3rd generation (wifi only, 64GB) running iOS 6.1.3.
When I use the BBC iPlayer app (version 2.0.5.33) to download a TV show to watch offline, my iPad almost always loses wifi connection a minute or two into the download, and it stays disconnected until I go into Settings > Wifi and select my home network again. If I resume the download in iPlayer, the same issue will typically recur within a minute or two.
I am not having any other connectivity problems with this iPad, and other sizeable downloads (e.g. from iTunes, from the App Store etc) are not having the same issue. Similarly, I can stream live BBC iPlayer content without issue - it is just the iPlayer downloads that seem to create this condition (which then effects the whole iPad / all other running apps).
I have tried to "forget this network", resetting network settings and restoring my entire iPad - none of these have stopped the issue. Interestingly, during restore of the iPad I received ugly BIOS-esque messages relating to AppleBCMWLANCore, which have disappeared after a hard reboot (power + home buttons together) - does this indicate a problem with the iPad hardware itself?
Anyone else experiencing something similar? Any suggestions to fix this? Or am I dependent on the BBC updating the app?
Cheers,
JamesHey James,
I would try out standard third party application troubleshooting and see if that resolves the Wi-Fi issue. :
1. Update your device software
2. Check for app updates
3. Install another app from the App Store
4. Restart the application
5. Restart your device
6. Reinstall the affected application
For more info on each step, check out the full article:
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702
If none of those steps work, then you would want to contact the developer of the application for further assistance.

Mac loses WIFI Connection...
I just start experiencing this problem since I moved to a house with some DSL router but never experienced it when I was using my own NetGear router with a cable connection. My Mac loses its connection every once in a while and I have to turn off WIFI and select the router again. Since I am the only one having the problem people will say its my Mac, but I am not sure. Perhaps because I am living in a city with about 15 other WIFI networks around my be the problem as before I was living in a more isolated area with only a few WIFI networks.
Wifi problems seem to crop up a lot on here and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a 'one fix' solution.
However, sometimes any one of the following can help although, unfortunately, not always - in no particular order:
Check wifi security - if it's WEP change it to WPA or WPA2 (preferably, as it's more secure)
Change the wifi channel on the router
Create a new Network Location: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5289
Reboot the router
Also take a look at this link and the links within the article for other ideas. They mainly reference Lion, but still seem to be relevant to Mountain Lion:

Sorry, I do not remember much about AirPort Utility in Tiger (10.4.11).
It might be called AirPort Admin Utility on Tiger. Look around in the Utilities folder or Applications folder to see if you can find it or something similarly named.
Should be more info and help about the update.....which is called 6.3.....in this Apple support document:

Finally, I was not kidding when I said that firmware updates on older devices will sometimes cause them to fail. Proceed at your own risk.
