Mac Mail 3.5 won't show plain text version of a email

Hallo Forum.
I am creating some mails via pear/Mail_Mime and generate a HTML version and a text version of mails. But when I recive the generated email, the mail.app don't offer me to see the text version of this email (View->Message->...).
I only can see "Long Headers" and "Raw Source". All other points are (gray-) disabled.
When I boot in 10.4 The mail.app show both variants of the mail without any problem.
What should I do, to fix this problem?

Hi 2point5,
THX for help, but that didn't help me. Maybe I didn't describe my Point exactly.
I receive a email, which have two alternative contents. One is HTML-content and the other is the TXT-content.
When I receive the email with 10.4.11, mail.app offer me the second alternative view (View->Message->Plain Text Alternative (AltAppleP) ) So I can see the TXT version of the mail.
In mail.app 3.5 (Leo) the point is grayed out, like as there is no txt version of the mail. (Same mail…)

  • I am using a mac mini (10.8.3) with Mac Mail 6.3 (1503).  Whenever I try to forward an email with attachments, the attachments do not make it.  They show being sent, but the attachments never are sent.

    Hey Guys,
The title says it all.  Whenever I receive an email with attachments, I will try to forward the email to someone with the attachments.  Mac Mail shows that the attachments are attached, but the receiver says the attachments are not there. Our mail host is Rackspace.  We are setup with IMAP.  It should be noted that we are experiencing similar issues with OS 10.5.8 with Mac Mail 3.6 (936).
We assumed Rackspace was the problem, so we logged into their webmail portal and tested it and the attachments were received as normal, which points everything back to Mac Mail.  We even had an ISP change but the problem do not change.
I have researched the problem, and there seems to be evidence of this being a known bug with Mac Mail, but I am hoping there is a workaround.  The company is unwilling to move to a different mail client since they use Daylite 4, which does not support Thunderbird.

    Back up all data.
    1. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder may open, or you may get an error message that the item can't be found. Either result is normal. If the folder does open and has contents, move the contents to the Desktop. Relaunch Mail and test. If there's no change, put the contents of the folder back and quit Mail again.
    2. Repeat with this line:
    /Library/Mail/Bundles
This time you may be prompted for your login password when you remove the items. Make sure they're removed from the folder and not just copied to the Desktop. If necessary, copy them first and then move the originals to the Trash.

  • How do I set up an alias email with Mac Mail, so that my alias shows up when I send email from my Mac Mail account?

I am have an email forwarding service, not an email account, which I want to set up as an alias for Mac Mail so that my email appears in the "from" address when I send messages from Mac Mail. I'm having trouble figuring out what I need to do to set up this configuration. Thanks so much for your help!

There are a couple of ways of doing this. The easiest is probably to just add the secondary address in the Mail.app -> Preferences -> Accounts field.
The specifics of which vary a little based on the OS/Mail.app version you're running, but in Yosemite:
    Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
Select your iCloud account and change the 'Alias' popup menu from your iCloud address to 'custom'.
Doing this enables the 'Email Address' field. In this field you can enter the email address you want to appear in your From header.
If you want to use multiple addresses (e.g. your iCloud address and your other alias), you can enter a comma-separated list of addresses - e.g. '[email protected], [email protected]' and then you'll have a pop-up menu on each new message where you can choose the address to use for each outgoing message. You can also set the default address in Preferences -> Composing -> Send new messages from:

  • Mac Mail 5.3 Won't attach PDFs Launched from Acrobat or MYOB

I thought this was an Adobe Acrobat Pro X 10.1.7 issue - when I open a PDF in Acrobat and click "Share" > "Attach To Email" - Mac Mail does launch but the new email window is blank and I get an error message in Adobe Acrobat "An error occurred while trying to create a mail document.  Acrobat is unable to complete your request.". So I posted this originally on the Adobe community forum.
However, I just tried to send a pdf straight out of my MYOB accounting software and the same thing happened.
Never had any issues before, and send pdfs all day every day this way.
Have cleared all cache in all applications.
    Have cleared font cache.
Have run Disk Doctor and repaired disk permissions.
    Trying to avoid reinstalling software.
    Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks Michael, have tried that, no luck. I will wait a couple of days to see if any other solutions come up (or if anyone else is suddenly having the same issue) before reinstalling Acrobat.
[OK just tried sending a PDF attachment directly from another program (MYOB) through to Mac Mail and had the same problem so it is not an Acrobat issue afterall, it is a Mac Mail or Mac OS X issue. Will post this on the Apple site.]
I have resolved the MYOB issue, it was working just painfully slow. So I still have the original Acrobat Pro PDF to Mac Mail issue if anyone knows of any solutions please?

  • OS 10.8.4 Mail erases messages when switching to plain text

This problem seems to persist -- in MAC OS 10.8.4 Mountain Lion, the mail program deletes the just typed email message when I switch to plain text. It does not do it every time, but it does this seemingly at random. If I do not re-read my emails right after clicking plain text, I send a blank email... This never happened in Snow Leopard -- is there a fix or a patch for this ?

Has anyone on the Mac Mail or OSX Support Team tried to debug this... ? Most of my emails are plain text, and I encounter this problem 50x per day!  Thanks for your help...

  • When i paste some copied color text or formatted cells from excel to my mail draft while composing a mail, it is being pasted as plain text. No back groud or text colors are copied to it. Please suggest a possible solution for this issue.

Colors & Formatted Cells from Excel application can not be copied to my mail composer as it is. Only Plain text is copied.

Wish I could be king. But you described the problem perfectly and I am still but a pawn. All I can say is that I trashed the mail preferences (com.apple.mail.plist) on my Mac Mini, and now my MacBook seems to work right.
Sorry. :>) But that is the truth... The MacBook now has actually sometimes displayed pasted text in its actual, different, font and style as I paste it into a partially composed new mail message.
In other (more rational) words, the problem seems to be tied to pasting only certain types of text. I have not been able yet to pinpoint what. Yes, frustrating indeed. The only work-around has been to re-train my fingers to command-option-shift V, for "paste and match style" (like you, I do not want to always use only plain text). Maybe someone else will eventually weigh in with a real solution. The solution I want is just to be able to consistently see any font variations within my message before I send the email.
The info about the different ppi scales between Windows and Mac is interesting, although not relevant to this particular problem. It does explain the apparent overall size differences I have seen before.

  • Firefox 11 beta is having issues loading Flash and HTML content, shows plain text instead of images

I'm not sure what is causing the problem but it has been happening since beta 10 and now its also in beta 11. Randomly when I load any web page the page is displayed in plain text leaving all the HTML or flash content blank. Yes I have the most recent version of flash installed along with Java just in case it was looking for that mess as well. Sometimes the pages load fine, and sometimes they don't, it's like playing lotto with the internet. The only fix I know of is to either keep refreshing the page and "hope" it catches it on the reload, or closing Firefox and running CCleaner. Some times FF will load some of the visual data and leave gaps but usually its just basic text mode. I'm at a loss as to whether the problem is from Firefox or my ISP being a douche, either way its annoying that Firefox is not showing internet pages like it used to.
Hate to see it happening but it looks like Firefox is on its way to being just another Internet Explorer clone (failure). Should have stayed with your original team, all the new folks you have hired are really mucking up the whole project and its goal of a free and open internet. Not to mention writing bad code and costing you money and more importantly the user base.
(Update, now it's not doing it go figure, but I'm sure it will do it again at some point, perhaps its not Firefox and something else, I'll keep my eye on it and try to report any findings)

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extension) like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flash Block</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Mail downloading but won't show

First, apologies because I am incredibly technology inept and everything I'm reading sounds like a foreign language.
I'm working with Mac OS X v 10.7.5 and I started having trouble with my mail yesterday afternoon. I had recently added a new gmail address to my mail under System Preferences and the problems began shortly after.
I can only get new mail to load if I close Mail and reopen it. While open, it shows that new mail is downloading but it doesn't appear in the window. I've tried selecting the specific mailbox but it won't populate the messages.
I tried Window -> Connection Doctor and everything is showing green.
    I found this advice online:
If your mailbox is constantly spinning and mail is not coming or going, it means IMAP is not syncing. In this case, try these steps:
    Close mail.app.
    Go to /Users/your_profile/Library/Mail/IMAP-account_concerned/.
    Delete hidden folder .OfflineCache.
    Start mail.app again.
I realize this is pretty basic have no idea how to this.
    Any advice?

Having a very similar problem here, which started yesterday (7 Oct) I think. New emails do not show up in the Gmail account Inbox in Apple Mail. I'm beginning to suspect a problem on Google's end with their IMAP implementation, based on the following observations:
I have 5 different email accounts set up in Apple Mail (don't ask!): 2 Gmail accounts (IMAP), 1 Google Apps for Business account (IMAP), 1 Exchange account and 1 other IMAP account (non-Google).
I have these 5 accounts configured on 2 different Macs - one on Mountain Lion, the other on Snow Leopard. Plus on 2 iPhones, one on iOS7 and one on iOS8.
Both Gmail accounts show this problem on both Macs. They were working perfectly up until 7 Oct. Both stopped working around the same time. So it's quite a coincidence if it's a Mail config/corruption issue.
The other 3 accounts work fine on both Macs (including the Google Apps IMAP account, which I admit I was expecting to show the same symptoms).
All 5 accounts work perfectly on both iPhones.
If I manually "Get New Mail" on either Gmail account nothing shows up, even though there are new, unread messages on the server.
If I quit and restart Mail, all the outstanding messages arrive in the Inbox, but then nothing further arrives. Restarting Mail every 10 mins to check if I have Mail isn't a viable solution.
If I rebuild one of the Gmail Inboxes (Menus: Mailbox -> Rebuild) the missing messages turn up. The Activity window shows status messages about "changing flags" but doesn't appear to download the missing messages at that point. It looks like the messages are getting downloaded (when they arrive on the server), but are invisible in the Inbox until either a rebuild or a restart.
So my best guess is that Google has changed something in its Gmail IMAP implementation recently, and that change is incompatible with the IMAP implementation in Apple Mail. And I'm guessing it doesn't show up in iOS because that's a later IMAP implementation and the slight incompatibility doesn't exist there.
If I get time, I will try this out in Mavericks Mail. Apple completely re-wrote Mail for Mavericks. Not sure if that included a later version of the IMAP protocol stack.
Anyway, no real solution here, but hopefully this might be helpful if others are having a similar problem. Or is it just me??!
