Mac mail/creating new format style

Hi all,
I sometimes send emails with a good amount of copy ( I have my compose preference set to RTF). I notice that the default format style for macmail is Left aligned, Spacing 1.0x. (no leading or 'set solid'). I'd like to create a new 'favorite style' that includes the basic type 'Geneva' and flush left alignment but with more leading, maybe '2.0' so that the copy is more readable. I go to the menu Format-->Style-->Styles. A styles info box comes up:
Can anyone tell me how to create a new format style with greater leading than the
default style then add it to favorites? Will a person who receives my email who is using a different email client necessarily receive the formatting I am sending?
I hope I'm not missing something obvious. lol.
Also, if anyone knows the html code that would center my image in this email, please pass that along as well. I tried the <center> tags but they didn't work.

Replying to myself to add some more information, and ask some additional questions:
Poking around, I have found some information -- a few years old, unfortunately -- that seems to indicate that you cannot create aliases to associate with a mac.com account. What I may have to do is add an address in the primary account, in the Email Address field of the Account Information tab, where she currently has this:
[email protected], [email protected]
If that works, that'll be great, but one flaw in this method is that you can't specify a different sender name. Her customers at "herdomain.com" will still just see her name, Jane Doe, when what she really wants in the sender field for that e-mail address is "Jane Doe, Director, Her Domain Inc."
Can anyone verify if I am finally understanding this correctly? Or if there is something else I can do to get her that alternate identity on her mac.com account?

Please help! I love clicking on data in email to bring up the "Create New iCal Event" box, and using it to put new events into my ical calendar. But recently when I "Create New iCal Event" from an email, and click "add to iCal" the window closes but the event doesn't show up in iCal. I can still add events by clicking on a calendar date in iCal and typing them in, but the link between Mail and iCal seems to be broken. How can I fix it?
Could this be related to how Firefox recently broke? Foxfire will not save bookmarks any more, either, I click on "Bookmarks," then "Bookmark this page". The window closes but the bookmark does not save. Also, the forward/backward browser arrows no longer work on Foxfire.

How to create new character styles in Numbers 3.0

In Numbers 3.0, it is possible to update existing characters styles, but I cannot find how to create a new character style, the + sign in the popup is always inactive when I edit text in a cell. The paragraph style popup has an active +, but it doesn't work for character style.
Is there any way to create a new character style?

You're right about not being able to add styles, and I have not figured out how to modify a predefined character style, other than to Rename or Delete a predefined style. I have added this to my list of things lost.

Create new Generating style Extending the Classic Style

Hi all,
When creating an ITS screen, you can choose a Generating style.
Default (at our system) there are 3 templates available:
- Business HTML
- Classic
- WebGUI
is it possible to create an own Generating style?
At present we are using the CLASSIC STYLE.
However, I need to alter the generated TEMPLATE file every time I create one.
Is there some way that one could extend the CLASSIC style to have my own style generated to accommodate the modifications?
I have used the style as per the specifications of Mobile Template generator and that is not what I want. I want to extend the Classic HTML style.
This is a high priority issue for me. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response. II have already used the Mobile Generator Style for my customized style generator and that is not what I want.
I need to extend the classic HTML style to create my own style to generate the Templates in the format I need.
Is there some documentation or some class from which I should extend to generate my Generator to be used.

I have to eliminate constant = 232145 for other positions in the payment file; it must be only the header of this file and may appear only in the first row.
DMEE format definition:
Node # 1 (u2019COUNTERu2019) -> I try to aggregate to count how many times this node appeared

The condition in the second node = u2018VERSION_NUMBERu2019.
I want to test: u2018If the node = u2018COUNTERu2019 appeared for the first time (00_LP = 1) print the constant = 232145 ; otherwise u2013 donu2019t .
I receive DMEE error = 550 ; it means I canu2019t refer to node with u2018Lpu2019 aggregation.
This is technical element.
I couldnu2019t find another solution for checking whether I should print header constant or not.

I am not sure whether that is possible. Need to check the same once i am in front of SAP Screen.
But why can't you write a Substitution for this field and populate the Value as X*0.07.
In this way, you Need not have to worry about making Change in DME. The value will be picked automatically from the field in the document.
Another Option is, create a simple user Exit for value = X*0.07 and assign it to the node. This will resolve your requirement.

Mac Mail 3 html formatting issues

I have some people I've been working with who recently upgraded to Mac Mail 3 and since a quarantine report they receive about email that was filtered no longer displays correctly. It displays correctly for anyone using anything other than Mac Mail 3 but for them, the first line of the report looks fine but everything after that looks way oversized. The report comes in an html format. Does anyone know of any issues with Mac Mail 3 displaying html formatted emails correctly and if there are any fixes for it?

THX for help, but that didn't help me. Maybe I didn't describe my Point exactly.
I receive a email, which have two alternative contents. One is HTML-content and the other is the TXT-content.
When I receive the email with 10.4.11, mail.app offer me the second alternative view (View->Message->Plain Text Alternative (AltAppleP) ) So I can see the TXT version of the mail.
In mail.app 3.5 (Leo) the point is grayed out, like as there is no txt version of the mail. (Same mail…)

Mac Mail creates duplicate messages in GMAIL bin and various other locations...

This has been quite frustrating finding 20 copies or half written copies of my mail as mac mail saves it as a draft then moves it to the bin.
When i perform a search for something im greeted with 20 half written copies of an email?

I assume your Gmail account is set up as IMAP.
In Mail, go to Preferences, Accounts tab, select the Gmail account. In the right pane, select Mailbox Behaviors, and uncheck "Store draft messages on the server".
Draft(s) will the only be saved on your Mac and more "safely" deleted when the mail is sent. If stored on the server, a slow or shaky Internet connection can prevent from it happening.

Mac Mail misbehaving with formatting

Hi all,
I have an intermittant issue in Mac Mail 4.5 which has been reoccouring since I bought this computer 18 months ago.
Whilst composing, if I delete a line, cut and paste or try to move text by draging the text jumps to a line above where I move it, cannont be moved back into place and refuses to merge with previous lines.
The only work arround that has been sucessful is to retype the message from scratch without cut or paste.
I've updated my software, run permissions repair and have restarted many many times. I'd appreciated hearing if any other users have suggestions as to how to address this issue.

If you don't get an answer here soon you can try the Mail forum. Each OS has a Mail section, so go to the Snow Leopard forum, click Refine This List and choose Mail & Address Book.

Mac Mail creating additional Drafts

When I generate a message in Mac Mail, or when I reply to a message I have received, I often discover (after the reply/message has gone) that another version of the message is sitting in my drafts folder. Normally it is only a draft until it is sent, then it disappears from the draft folder. But not always. Initially I thought the message had not gone, so I clicked on send again and it then disappeared from the drafts folder, but the recipeint then told me they had received the same message twice.
Anyone any idea why the application is generating a second draft?

It may be account-related. From Mail Help:
Drafts mailbox
The Drafts mailbox contains messages you’ve saved but haven’t sent yet. The Drafts mailbox remains displayed until there are no drafts and you quit Mail.
If you have an Exchange or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) account that is set to save drafts on the server, then as soon as Mail syncs with the server, any drafts you save are shown on your other computers that use that account. To see the drafts immediately, choose Mailbox > Synchronize for the account.

Create New Format

Hello,
I am trying to create a new style format once I have entered
the text editor. I press the button to create the New Style.
I then give it an appropiate name and the correct formatting
i.e. Arial 10.
I tick the boxes for Add to template and Automatically update.
I can then format the text in this new style. However, when I
exit the text editor the style disappears and the font format reverts
back to how it was.
Can anyone explain why my new style is disappearing ??
Any help much appreciated.

The path you should follow to give your STYLE name.
FORM ATTRIBUTES->OUTPUT OPTIONS->STYLE
In STYLE you should give your STYLE name.
Please check once again whether there is an ARIEL font in your creating STYLE.
May Be sometimes when saving it will disappear but when printing the form it will come perfect.

Yosemite update has Mail creating new mailboxes

Anyone else have this problem? Since updating my new iMac to Yosemite, I have had a peculiar problem with Mail. Instead of pulling everything over intact (as Mavericks did when it updated), it pulled my Yahoo mail over, then created a second copy using my e-mail address as the mailbox name. Now, after signing in to my AOL account remotely, it just created a new AOL mailbox. I can't delete either of the redundant mailboxes, and this means my mail now comes in multiples of 2 for each mailbox, and the outgoing mail has slowed down. I have updated to 10.10.1, but this started before the update and continues.
I won't even get into the part where Safari has started crashing, won't work with Squarespace, and the WiFi connect has begn having problems since I updated (it was fine before)...
I don't expect this kind of sloppiness from Apple.

No, but I'll bet they do over in the Leopard forum. This one is Panther or earlier. We don't have travel.mboxes

Taking contents in new incoming mail & creating new outgoing mail

im having 2 problems while trying to create an automator workflow.
1. take attachment from a new incoming mail message and pass it along to a new outgoing mail message.
+
2. take a piece of information from the incoming mail message and paste it into the (to:) section of the new outgoing mail message (each outgoing mail will have a different TO: based on the information they send me)
this is what i mean.
if within the email i get:
fax number: 5055555555
then i would like to take that information and have it sent to:
[email protected]
i'm tired so i wont know if this makes sense until after i take a nap. hopefully somebody can help... ive tried a million things to make this work... and still no luck.

Try going to System Preferences/Notifications/Mail and make sure Badge app icon is checked.

10.5.3 Mail Creates New Message on Account Activation -Totally Bizarre

Hi there - this is a weird one.
I recently added a new pop account that had some ssl connection issues, but otherwise seemed fine. The account frequently goes offline during the day and whenever I take it back online, Mail grabs the last received email from any account, and places its contents into an email from one of my addresses to the same address.
It's worth noting that Mail has been behaving slowly and crashing a lot since the 10.5.3 update. Is anyone else seeing the same bug, or have any ideas?

Thanks Barry. I agree - corrupted preferences can be sources of strange behavior.
It's been recommended to me that the combo updater should be applied before trying to rebuild the accounts and such as I'll have to if I scrap the preferences. I'll post the results here after I do so.

Lion Mac Mail: Re: New email showing up as an old email from a complete different address

It's a tad strange. I got an email from a friend say "Mary". I saw her name and the subject line just fine but when I opened it, it showed an email from another friend say "Nate" from over a year and a half ago! His name was in the from and the email address was just as it was so many months ago. I tried a search for the same email from Nate-- it showed up once with his name in my archives and as the content of Mary's email. I checked my iphone. Mary's email was there and fully intact. I read the new email she sent with no problem. It seems that for some reason this new email has it's wires crossed, like for some reason it wishes it was from Nate instead. (Granted, Nate's email was definitely more exciting-- but Mary's wasn't too shabby either.) Le confusing! Never happened before or since.

I'm also wondering if it could have anything to do iwth the fact that I have very big inboxes & sent mail boxes.

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.
