Mac mail full name change

Hi,
I just upgraded ONE computer amongst 4 to 10.94 and it won't let me change the full name in the account information box in mail. We each have individual names associates with the same emaIL ADDRESS on the four different computers. How can I change it on my new Mac?

They they will have to have their own iCloud account.
You could create aliases to the original email at the iCloud.com page under Mail. For example if your primary email name is
[email protected] you can have up to 3 aliases to that account.

[email protected]
[email protected]
In each of the other accounts you can set the appropriate alias to be the default email address to use.

Full name change on Mail

My Apple ID had a relatives name registered to it, because at the time I was using their credit card. I changed the name on the account to my own over a year ago, and everything has adjusted except the Mail app on my mac. Under the "Full Name" field is still has the old name and the field is greyed out.
If I look at the iCloud account in the "Internet Accounts" section of system preferences, it has my name correct, only Mail still has the old name.

MacBook Airs won't run Classic, nor will Classic connect to iCloud accounts. You will need your Mac OS X version to answer the question involved. Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac, and post in the appropriate forum in the link below:

Mac Mail: need to change server addresses

I hate AT&T. Once again they have changed the POP3 and SMTP addresses for my multiple e-mail accounts. I've made the changes on my Win XP and Win 7 machines. But Mac Mail refuses to let me change ipostoffice.mail.att.net to pop.att.yahoo.com. It looks like the folder is locked. But what do I know?

You don't change any folder name
Open the Mail Preferences and then select the Accounts tab
Then select the username/account you want to change and click the Account Information tab and look for 'Incoming Mail Server' lower down for the POP entry - edit in the new details.
For SMTP go to 'Outgoing mail server' and select 'Edit SMTP List' and create a new entry for the account then click OK. Probably a good idea to delete the old one at this point too.

E-mail Attachment Name Changes

I have a following problem with mail attachments: When I drag the attachment from my mail window onto my desktop, the attachment name changes to "unknown". So for example, "cat.jpg" would become "unknown.jpg". To make this a bit more complicated, the problem is a bit random and from this it follows that sometimes the file keeps the original and correct file name and sometimes it changes it. Also, this problem occurs only when I drag the attachment (which normally is image) from email window, but if I pull the attachment from above the message window, where it has a little arrow and it shows all the attachment icons, this problem does not happen. I am running Tiger and Mail 2.1. It would we really great if you could take a sec to answer this if you have any idea at all what this problem might to be. Thanks!

Hmmm, since it's random, might try this...
Quit Mail, then In your home folder, try moving this +folder & file+ to the Desktop then reboot...
First, Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these files to the Desktop.
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail
Move to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
You can always move them back if it doesn't help.

Notifying all contacts in Mac Mail of address change

Can someone give me the step-by-step of how to notify all senders in my inbox and folders of my new address?

Thanks, worked like a champ after a little figuring out where and how to access the download folder. Was a good learning experience, appreciate the help. If you can, does the notify you when the mail ap is not running? Or does the mail program have to be running to have it notify you.

Mail won't let me change Full Name

Just updated to Mtn Lion and made the full migration from MobileMe to iCloud. In the process, the "full name" on some of my Mail accts changed. Tried to change them in Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information, but the Full Name field is grey and won't allow me to change it. Any insight on how to change my Full Name (which is my sender name) for this email acct is apreciated. (Is it linked to my AppleID?)

Change Full Name in Macmail

I put ICloud Account in the Full Name field under Account so now people receiving my emails get it from ICloud Account instead of me. When I tried to change it to my name, I get an error message saying Incoming Server can't be blank. It's not blank and has nothing to do with this. How do I fix this?

Log into icloud.com
Click on the Mail icon
Click on the Settings gear (top right), and pick "Preferences..."

Mac Mail Signatures Changing between them

On my mac book pro in Mac Mail when i change from one signature to another, it doesn't delete the previous signature so i end up with 2 in an email - how do i fix this?

I had the same issue, fixed it by creating a new signature and deleted the old one. Just copy and paste the content into a new signature and rename it afterwards. Hope that works for you too.

Is .mac mail meant to sync to the mail server ?

Although I am a full .mac member my mail account does not sync! If I delete mails in my mail account on my mac they are not deleted from my .mac account therefore I am finding myself administrating two accounts. Any clues ?
Also, I can only see mails from my in-box in .mac. None of the other folders that I have created in my mail account appear in .mac.

I've noticed some of the same things. First of all, any changes (send mail, delete, etc) done from .mac are reflected in Mail. However, if you want for instance to update the inbox (in Mail) you have to select any other folder then select the Inbox again. This causes that folder to update and reflect changes made from .Mac mail.
Having changes made in Mail be reflected on the .Mac side is a little quirky but I've noticed that the changes are eventually made. If you do something in Mail then go immediately to .Mac the change won't be reflected right away.
I'm still playing with this but it isn't perfect.

Thank you Probe-Droid for your reply regarding my mac G4 running 10.3.9. where you suggest I try mac mail. Clicked on the icon and up came a panel, so I read my panther book for Dummies(as I am one) this did not help. I list below the questions in hopes that you or someone can help.

Links in Mac Mail will not open in Firefox. This recently became an issue.

When I select a hyperlink in Mac Mail the courser changes shape but will not open in Firefox, my default browser. I have used Mail with Firefox for a couple of years & it worked fine, until now. I can change the default to Safari & it works fine with Safari.
Also periodically Firefox hangs up & I have to force close it. That started to happen only recently too.

The operating system has to have information about what the default browser is in order to open a link in a browser.

Mail not showing up in Mac mail and iphone (Sky email UK)

Hi,
This relates to a post from yesterday which I thought was solved, if only… !
If I check my mail on iphone it doesn't show up later in Mac mail. I have 5 accounts set up. 3 work fine, 2 don't. My Sky email account and a domain account that is set up for forwarding via Sky.
It seems to be a problem with Sky. This other forum suggests putting "recent" into the Mac Mail user name, doesn't help. It also mentions setting up a IMAP Sky account. I have never used IMAP, always POP. If I set up IMAP on phone can I still get POP mail on my Mac?

The logo is an attachment. Anything in an email message that is not text must be sent as an attachment in order to be compliant with email protocols. But many modern email programs will automatically display the contents of some attachments. Apple Mail will display JPEGs and single-page PDFs. Presumably your correspondents are using an application that displays JPEGs but not PDFs.
Some email programs expect attachments to come at the end of the message, not intermixed with the other contents of the message. Such an app may treat everything after the first attachment as attachments. That might cause the different behavior when additional attachments are included before the attachment in your signature.
