Mac mail not reading emails
Hi All,
So my mac mail on mavericks isn't reading any of my emails when highlighted... sometimes it closes and creates and error... any idea how to fix this??
You are welcome.
Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Mac Mail not downloading emails
Hello. My mac mail is not working. It appears to be an issue with the Exchange 2007 server. The only way I can access my emails is via Thunderbird (which stinks). Neither Mac Mail nor Outlook will download my emails.
Connection Doctor status: Mail was able to connect to the internet.
I see that this is a common problem for many other folks. Has this issue ever been solved? I have spent a considerable amount of time on forums, talking to Apple Support, and Google searching -- no luck finding a solution. Its very frustrating -- I am using Thunderbird to get me by for now. I have a new Mac, Lion 10.7.4.

ATT Uverse and Mac Mail not sending emails!
I've read through all the other discussion topics pertaining to this and tried them all, adding and deleting accounts, setting up my account preferences according to the Uverse help page but nothing seems to work. I can receive emails fine but sending emails doesn't work any more. We just had Uverse installed less than 24 hours ago and ATT tech support won't help me out unless I pay $50! Are you kidding me? Because Mac Mail is a 3rd party app they won't help me solve this annoying issue, they've told me to just use their web mail program instead. I'm not sure what to do at this point, does anyone have some info that may help me out here?
AT&T U-Verse (uverse), as of July 2014, requires that you verify your non-AT&T mail accounts before they allow you to send outgoing non-AT&T mail.
Here's how to verify your non-AT&T mail accounts and link them to your AT&T U-verse account
https://discussions.apple.com/message/22291865
Log into your AT&T U-verse webmail att.net email account (e.g. Yahoo mail)
> click the gear at upper right of screen next to your name
Navigate to Settings > Accounts > Add
Add your non-AT&T mail accounts/ Enter info they require
U-verse will send a verification email to those mail accounts.
After you reply and verify your identity, you will be able to send outgoing email for those accounts via Mail, so long
as you have Mail configured. -
For about a week, my mail account will not accept or read mail from aol.
I believe this is an Apple software issue.
I had to start to use Thunderbird, and I've not had the same issues with that program as with Mac Mail.
I just have to wait for the Apple tech's to read this and come up with a fix.
MarkAs you've already been told on your other thread, the problem was with AOL, not Mail. You were not alone having problems with AOL last week, yet Apple did not release any updates to Mail last week. It's not a Mail issue.

Mail not reading email sent from Outlook.
I know of the RTF issue from Outlook, however I have an interseting issue.
Sender (using Outlook 2007 with mail format set to html) sends an email to myself and another coworker (both of us are using Apple Mail on 10.8.2).
I receive the email just fine.
My coworker receives the email with a winmail.dat.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks,
DavidUntil I can figure this out, I had my coworker download TNEF's Enough ( http://www.joshjacob.com/mac-development/tnef.php ) It's not perferable but at least he can read the emails right now.

... for the past few months i have noticed that emails in my inbox Yahoo mail account older than a few weeks keep disappearing. i cannot find them in my Yahoo account or iPhone app BUT i can see them on my Mac Mail version of email. Emails that i have stored into folders in my yahoo account are still there... same with my sent emails... it's just the Inbox emails.. strange, very strange. I don't know how to 'move' the emails from my Mac Mail back to my Yahoo account.
Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.

Replied Arrow in Mac Mail not synching properly between Macs
Hi there
We have a mac pro and a macbook both with mac mail. The email account is a gmail account and the two Macs are synchronised by mobileme. I have noticed that the macbook does not show reply arrows on emails replied to on the mac pro and the mac pro shows some reply arrows of that replied to on the macbook but not all.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, DonnaI signed out of iCloud, deleted every mail account I had added into the mail app on my mac, restarted the mac and signed into iCloud again.
What it did was sync ONLY my iCloud account's mails. My 2 gmail accounts and one hotmail wasn't synced into the mail app. It was strange because under 'Mail, Contacts & Calendars', I could see every one of those accounts, but when I attempted to tick 'Mail', the spinning icon would appear and thats it. It would spin indefinitely.
Doesn't iCloud keep ALL my email accounts seamlessly synced across my devices, and not just the Apple-certified email accounts that end with '@icloud.com'? -
Mac mail not happy on one pop account
I have two email accounts and one won't check with mac mail, but works okay in entourage.
The problem is that one works all the time, the other is intemitent (even in entourage). The one that works only so so is checked via netmail frequently and the family member who uses it noticed that neither entourage nor mac mail was getting emails that were sent and checked online. Now, entourage has started working again as expected (for the last few days) and mac mail won't get anything.
I have deleted and resetup the account a few times, so I know it isn't a password issue, esp since I don't get a password error. The ISP is verizon.
Any ideas? Is it possible they the ISP is marking them as "no, don't let the old 10.3 mac mail have these." I've noticed that their webmail doesn't work with the Safari in 10.3.9, nice one guys.Hello Paul.
Are both email accounts that you access with the Mail.app and with Entourage provided by Verizon or is only the one that is intermittent provided by Verizon?
The one that works only so so is checked via netmail frequently
and the family member who uses it noticed that neither entourage
nor mac mail was getting emails that were sent and checked online.
No email client will get messages that were sent online with an account that is accessed as a POP type account with an email client unless you include the account's email address in the Cc: or Bcc: fields when addressing the message online so the sent message is also received by the account when checked for new messages by the email client.
What is the setting for the account in Entourage for removing messages from the server when downloaded?
Is it possible they the ISP is marking them as "no, don't let the
old 10.3 mac mail have these."
This is not possible.
I've noticed that their webmail doesn't work with the Safari
in 10.3.9, nice one guys.
How does it not work?
Have you tried emptying the Safari cache?
If not, at the Safari menu bar, go to Safari and select Empty Cache and wait several minutes. Quit and relaunch Safari and try to access the account again via webmail. -

Un-install according to the developer's un-install instructions.
You do not need to use cleaning programs. They can destroy your computer operation as they may already have done.
CleanMyMac - Uninstall
CleanMyMac2 Un-install
After un-installing, run this program to make sure you got all the pieces.
EasyFind – Spotlight Replacement
Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Hyperlinks in Mac Mail notes?
How do I embed a hyperlink in my Mac mail notes?
I can't find the info in various Mac Help resources.
ThanksThere is no "Edit/Add" on the Mail Edit menu in compose, in OS 10.3
I've looked and re-looked. Not greyed out, not there.
I'm thinking it is just not possible to create a hyperlink in OS 10.3's Mail.
However, I see that I can copy-paste hyperlinks from other notes I've received into a note I'm composing, and it still appears as a working hyperlink. So I'm trying to figure out a workaround that takes advantage of that fact.
Any ideas? -
My Outlook for Mac does not upload emails unless I hit send/receive even though it is left open. How do I change the schedule?

which i read on another support page... but it doesnt allowed me to install it cause it says that i already have the disk of this program....

Thanks in advance for this kind answer!!!fsolution wrote:

If the "it" refers to a compressed (zipped) spreadsheet that you downloaded, the ".ods" extension is used by LibreOffice and probably OpenOffice (which are free versions of MS Office) for spreadsheets, which would suggest that wherever you're getting that "Excel" file from has switched to one of those programs. I've tried opening an .ods file from LibreOffice using MS Office 2013 for Windows and it does open though with a warning that some things have been changed. I don't know if Office for Mac can normally open .ods files. But if your need is to just open .ods files, take a look at LibreOffice. -
I converted from a PC to a Mac Mini. I have my PC documents backed up on a DVD disk. I have an external DVD drive connected to the Mac Mini. I want to open these documents up from the DVD storage and save them to the Mac, BUT....when I put the DVD disk in the Mac is NOT reading it!
Hi Joe,
Thanks for your quick response. I should add....it worked before. When I previously inserted the two DVDs into this remote drive, and I went into finder, I could click on the "remote device" line and see all my saved documents (excel, word, etc) on the DVD and open them on the Mac. Now I cannot see them, when I try to open them on the Mac, nothing happens, nothing is displayed. I just re-tested the remote DVD drive with a CD and, no problem, it opened up the CD via iTunes and I cold play the CD. SO......I know the remote DVD drive (it's an LG by the way) is fine, it's something to do with some settings on my mini mac, especially where I could open it previously. I do not remember changing any settings since then.
When I go into system preferences and click on CD/DVD it gives me options of how to open up a music CD (default is iTunes), a DVD (default is iMovie), etc. The problem is my DVD is all miscellaneious files/documents. I just want to be able to see them in the finder. I also tried to open them via microsoft word, from the remote disk and again, it could not open the drive, even though some of the documents were microsoft word documents. Again, I was able to open them previously and the DVD is not corrupted in any way.
Any additional advice?
Thank you! -
mac mail keeps sending emails from my different accounts even though it says correct email in "sent" folder and correct email account was highlighted. Recipients reply and it goes to different email address. So confusing and annoying.
Hi Mike,
I had the same issue and managed to solve it.
Go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts
Then in the account information tab, at the bottom should be outgoing mail server (SMTP) and click the drop down box
Mine had a few different servers in it so i went into edit SMPT server list. Click advanced and it will tell you which ones are going from which email address.
Delete the ones you dont want, and it should work or instead of deleting click use only this server, i imagine that will work to
Hope This Helps
