.MAC Mail on Windows Mail

Hello All,
I just got a new laptop from work, it has Vista and ''Windows Mail'', how do I import .mac mail on there? My work uses my .mac email address and I have to go to mac.com to get mail. HELP PLEASE!
P.S. Windows=Devil

I quote from Apple's Help on the subject:
'You can use any standard email program to read your .Mac Mail messages.
Open your email program and set up an account that uses your .Mac member name for the account name, your .Mac password for the mail password, mail.mac.com for the POP or IMAP server, and your ISP's SMTP server for the outgoing mail server.
If your email program supports SMTP authentication, you can use smtp.mac.com instead of your ISP's SMTP server.'
You may be able to set Windows Mail to use IMAP, which would leave messages on the server to be read by other machines if required: or you can use it as a POP account meaning that messages would be downloaded to your Windows machine (though you should have the option to leave mail on the server if you want).
To send via .mac, enter smtp.mac.com as the server, enable 'Use Authentication' (or set 'Authentication' to 'Password', depending on how it's worded in the the program) and enter your .mac username and password.

  • Apple mail - to windows mail

    hi,
anybody know how to move emails in apple mail to windows mail? Got someone here at work that is having to do this, I have no idea how.
    Thanks!

    Hi
To be honest Its going to be a struggle to physically transfer the files over because PCs have a problem with the dual nature of mac files. Mac files have resource as well as data forks. PCs can only really deal with data forks. It is easier going the other way, PC to Mac. Having said that you can try the method outlined here:
    http://spinningtheweb.blogspot.com/2005/11/moving-from-mac-mail-to-outlook.html
Another way would be to download and Install Thunderbird on the PC which will should import from the equivalent mac version (its available for both platforms and its free). Thunderbird will import mail from Apple Mail. I have not tried this myself so I can’t say for certain it would work. Whichever way you finally do it you will probably need some go-between application to facilitate the swop over.
    Hope this helps – Tony

  • Sateillite A200-1A9: Issue with sending/receiving E-mail using Windows Mail

Using Windows mail I have to close/open the programme to be able to send mails, they get stuck in the Outbox. By closing and reopening the programme the mail gets sent. Also the Blue figure 1 in brackets showning 1 unread mail in the Outbox is there all the time although there is no mails read or unread in the Outbox
Not a server problem as all mails are going/receiving fine on my desktop.
Pressing send and receive button does not help. although some of the time it will receive mails when pressing send/receive but will not send them
I do have Norton Internet security 2007 and am getting fed up with the continuing problems that this seems to cause over the period 2004-7.
Is there an issue with the Windows mail programme running with Vista that is known

    I think I have found a solution

  • Configure my apple mail in windows mail 2012?

I want to be able to receive my icloud mailon my  PC using windows mail 2012

    Hi,
Configure computer as a mail server to install E-mail Services, which provides e-mail transfer and retrieval services. E-mail Services includes the POP3 service, which provides
e-mail retrieval, and the SMTP service, which provides e-mail transfer. Administrators can use the POP3 service to store and manage e-mail accounts on the mail server. After configuring this computer as a mail server, users can connect to the mail server and
retrieve e-mail to their local computer using an e-mail client that supports the POP3 protocol, such as Microsoft Outlook.

  • Jpeg attachment probles when sending from Mail to windows mail applications

hi guys. I hope someone can help me as I have been going round in circles for months with this problem.
The task is to send a jpeg attachment - simple isn't it!
No problems attaching it, whether is embeded or viewed as an icon, that's ok. i have selected the option "always send windows friendly attachments" too.
The problem is on the other end. Pretty much every time I get an email back saying that the images are embeded on the email and cannot be saved (right click, save as...) nor they appear listed as attachments. Not only that, but most times they also appear deformed with weird dimensions and loss of quality.
Can someone help me out here, as you can all imagine sending images is pretty common these days, and whether we like it or not, most people use PCs still

I'm afraid that you don't really have the same problem. You may have the same symptoms but you are not using the same email program, the same server (unless you are also using Gmail), and you are encoding your emails in a Mac specific format.
    http://kb.iu.edu/data/abzn.html
I did find a tech blurb that said: "On the Macintosh, the default encoding method for attachments has been changed from BinHex to AppleDouble. This default works across platforms with all MIME-compliant email programs, including Eudora and Microsoft's Outlook Express and Outlook 98."
I quit using Eudora when OS 10.2 came out, so I don't know much more about changing your method of encoding. I checked and the last version of Eudora came out in 2006. Qualcomm has discontinued development for Eudora and none of my clients are using it since it has become a dead end. The last version of Eudora is reported to work with Leopard if you make some changes in the sound files. There is still access to the support forums here:
    http://eudorabb.qualcomm.com/forumdisplay.php?s=0936570a42fd9c7b0631c91819e3d099 &f=10
I guess that Thunderbird is the recommended program for Eudora users to migrate to if you don't want to use Apple Mail.
You should probably start your own thread with the words "Eudora Attachments" in the title so that people who are using Eudora will see the name of the program and respond with up to date information.

  • How to convert Windows mails to Mac mail

Hi - can anyone help me.
One of my colleagues are changing from Windows to Mac - clever guy i Think But now he will bring All he's Windows mails into MacMail. Now he's asking me if that is possible without buying expensive software. Is it better for him to use Entourage - his company have licence to version 2007 i think.
Hope some of you Can help us - thx

From Windows mail export to eml file (it's the default export format), I believe (it's been a long time) you need to select all mail in windows mail prior to export. Transfer the resultant file to your Mac, open Entourage and save the .eml file(s) to your hard drive Now, select one on the Desktop, and go to File -> Get Info. Under "Open With", change the application to Entourage. Click the button to change all. Now try dragging them into the Entourage window or double-clicking them to open them there. Once in Entourage if you want them in Mac Mail just open Mail and select File-> Import Mailboxes, and select Entourage.

  • Restore Windows Mail account?

I did a clean install of Windows 7 on a Vista machine, going from a 32 bit OS to 64.  I used a Seagate 3TB external drive and had it backup everything under the C drive, and I thought, the Users/Username/AppData/ folder, which should have captured the
Windows Mail .eml files so I could access my Inbox.  The attached is all that I have.  I am desperate to get one of the archived files back as there are job contact names and emails where someone admits to a loan I made to them.  I stupidly
did not export my mail from Windows Mail - I was having so many issues with Vista by that time. Windows Mail had recently "compacted" my message store and I guess I thought if I ever needed, I could get the email and folder structure back.
I had an occasion of have previously accessed the WM database, and I don't see anything like I saw at that time.  Can someone please tell me whether any of the files I have will allow me to access my WM emails?  And should I download and use Thunderbird
to attempt it or go through a hack I read about to get Windows Mail to run on Windows 7?  Or am I dead in the water?  Thanks in advance for any help! Now, it appears that I will have to re-attach images until my account is verified.  Geez, what
    else!
Several hours later and my account hasn't been verified to let me attach images.

  • Windows Mail & PSE 11

How do I get PSE 11 to recognize Windows Mail as my Email client?

I had the same problem on Vista. The only choice being Adobe Mail Service. So I decided to download Windows Live Mail 2011 which is compatible with Vista and it seems to trick PSE11 into using the default client Windows Mail.
Go to the following link to get Windows Live Essentials. You don’t have to install the whole package. You can just select the mail app.
After Installing launch the PSE11 Organizer and go to:
    Edit >> Preferences >> Sharing
Then choose Windows Live Mail and click OK.
Now whenever you send photo mail or attachments PSE11 will recognize that Windows Live Mail is not the default and you will get prompted to confirm that Windows Mail is the default. Simply confirm and your message will appear as usual. Leave the preference settings as Live Mail but Windows Mail should always open if it remains your default client.
