Mac mail opens emails on my iphone

Every time I open my mac mail program it then opens all the messages on my iphone so I cant tell what I opened already. How do I stop this from happening?

Then it's probably a problem at Yahoo's end rather than a problem with your phone.  Check with Yahoo.

You access Facetime through the Contacts app - there is no Facetime app on the phone.

  • HT1277 How do I sync my college email that ends in .edu with my Mac Mail application and on my iphone?

    Hello,
Can anyone give me some instructions on how to sync my college email, which ends with .edu on my Macbook running Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.8) using the Mail application and on my Iphone 4S running IOS 6.01?

If your mail account ending in .edu is a POP mail account, messages will download to each device, unless you just view them with a web browser via the internet, so that all messages stay on the server.
If you want to sync devices and mail, you need to have an IMAP account.
See this for deeper description of POP versus IMAP mail accounts.

  • Mac Mail deleting emails too soon

    Hi everyone,
I have Mac Mail setup to delete all emails after one month, this includes the Sent, Junk, and Trash.  However Mail is only keeping one week's worth.  I use iCloud as my sole email account.  This issue has been occuring for a few months now.
    Thanks,
    Chris

In iPad, open settings, Mail settings, select the account in question, click on the advanced tab. Set the to delete message like you want. I think default is 7 days.
For iPhone, I can't tell you because I don't have one. Probably similar to iPad.

  • Push deletes MAIL on Mac Mail application but NOT on iPhone 3G??

    Hey folks..
So I seem to have this issue. I was able last night to get the Push to (seemingly) work for contacts/calendars/mail. However I notice this issue. When an email comes in, if I delete it from the iPhone it will delete it off the Mail application on my Mac. But if I try and delete the email off the Mac's Mail application it DOES NOT delete the email off the iPhone without me having to go onto the phone and open up Mail and then it will.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I'd love to solve this dilemma
    Jason

Sorry, there is no iOS 4.3 update for the iPhone 3g or the iPod Touch 2g.

  • Mac Mail loses emails

About 6 months ago, I started noticing that a particular contractors emails I could NEVER receive (or even find) in Outlook (Mac 365). I could only find it if I searched it, but from tech support I found out search doesn't show you where the file is actually located.
DO have a system of filters that send the  emails to different folders by project. But that doesn't seem to be the problem because I turned filters off and did it manually for several weeksand it still happened.
So I switched to Mac Mail Jan 1st and if anything the problem is a little bit worse. I am losing at least 2 per week (the ones I know about) and I'm just realizing its sending as well as receiving (even harder to realize unless someone tells you they never received something). The thing is, in MOST cases i can find them only if I do a search on my iphone. Provided they're recent, etc. I then tried switching from my company email addresses (which are POP accounts) to gmail which is imap and its still happening.  I constantly need to search for things a year or more old for accounting work, etc. I think I've switched every variable I can think of, one at a time, and I've still got the same problem tho I've spent a **** ton of time and the tech support people at Apple don't even know as much as I've learned in a month.
I can switch back to outlook, but when you get email it give every email the CURRENT date, even if its from months ago, so that really ***** up the ability to search. I can say stop doing email on my iphone, but why if that's the only place I can find things? Does seem to be that getting email on my iphone is making it disappear elsewhere.
Any suggestion or resource much appreciated.

I'll assume you are using OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. (It helps if you post as much information about your set up as possible). Post here where those Mail gurus are:

  • How can i download or open email attachments on iphone 6

    Hi,
How can I download or open email attachments on my iphone 6. attachments like excel, word or pdf files.
    Bichitra

    Hello Bichitra84,
You should be able download and view most attachments from within the Mail app on your iPhone. All you would need to do is tap on the attachment to download it and then tap it again to view it. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Mac Mail downloading emails in an infinite loop.

    I can't sort this out:
When I opened my brand new MacBookPro today OS X 10.6.7 was frozen and I had to force a shut down.
Once the computer was back on I tried to open Mail but I had a message that said that the index was corrupted and I had to create a new one.
Once a new index was created, Mac Mail has started downloading the last 480 emails I received in an infinite loop. It has already downloaded over 10K times the same emails!!
I have tried to rebuild the mailbox and I have deleted the index file a few times but the problem persist.
Please help!! I got a lot of work right now, I need my Mac Mail.

Well I'm having the same problem after also trying to send an email with photos as attachments.
The email keeps getting put into my draft mailbox "On My Mac". I've tried removing the attachments and then deleting the email,I've tried deleting the mailbox, I've been to the server and deleting the email I found there, but as you say, everytime, it comes back from the dead. I've gone to my mail preferences and changed the port and nothing seems to work. What is strange, is that everytime I click on the OK button on the error message, it starts again and puts another copy of the message into the draft mailbox, so I end up with multiple copies of the same email, complete with attachments.
I've tried turning airport off while I do this, and then turning it back on after deleting, but it hasn't helped.
I'm baffled as to what to try next.

  • Mac Mail - Each Email I Compose Has It's Own Row Of Font Modification

In Mac Mail, I've clicked on something somewhere that now causes every email I compose to have it's own row of icons for adjusting font, font size, alignment, font color, etc. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get rid of it. Any ideas how to get rid of this?

When you start editing a message do you have an icon with the letter A displayed?
Click on this icon, and the format row should disappear.
If you don't have the icon at the top of your new message window, then right click on the top of the window, select "Customize Toolbar.." and then drag the "A" icon (Format) to your toolbar.  It will then toggle the display of your font/aligments/list tools.
    Cheers,
    RW

  • Mac Mail & Open Dir Network Accounts

As a system administrator for my family business I have a question.
I am running a Mac Mini server with all services enabled from lion server..
I currently use a Airport Extreme for routing and port fowarding
The client end computers consist of a G4 tower running leopard and a iMac 2009 running snow leopard...
Sometimes when a user connects to his or her network account and tries to send email using mac mail, the messages will either take an extremely long time to send or not send at all. Also sometimes the network accounts begin to act very strange and a reboot is required on the whole server/client side to restore proper function.
Ideas to what is causing this problem?
    Joe

Wow, thanks a lot, I think I got it working now.
Is there a website / wiki / knowledge base where I can find all the differences between Snow Leopard Server and Lion Server?

  • Sent message from Mac Mail work email shows my personal gmail account as Mail to: and account summary shows outgoing mail server as smtp.google while incoming shows imap.google

sent email from work through Mac Mail shows to the sender Mail to: (personal gmail). Account summary shows smtp.google on outgoing server and imap.google on incoming

Is there a way to add this automatically?
For a semi-permanent change, the Sending Server is named as "OutGoing Mail Server SMTP" on the Preference pane for each Mail Account.
To change its specifics, move the mouse cursor over it and choose "Edit SMTP Server List" from the drop-down Menu. Then choose the SMTP Server you wish to inspect/change and its information will be shown. If using similar ones for two different email accounts, change the description field, e.g., change "gmail" to "gmail (work)".

  • .Mac Mail as Email Archive

Ok, with the 10 gig now available for .Mac, there is now enough storage for me to consider using my .Mac account to store my historical emails.
Yes, yes, I'm a pack-rat of emails and I have some going back to 1999 (yes...I know)
So my question is: Do I keep things local or now use my .Mac account as off site storage? Specifically in this post, for my email.
I ask this because I've already experienced a catastrophic drive failure (on an external device) and lost a lot of memories and other things and I'm looking for permanent options for backup, recovery and storage (I have another post asking about this as well).

Just to close this question, I've done a lot of experimenting lately and found out several things:
Using .Mac as an email archive works great. It's a real hassle consolidating your emails depending on where they are, what's supported (POP3, IMAP, Web), but with a little sweat equity I got it to work. I have emails spread across Yahoo, Hotmail, Google, and .Mac and was able to get things consolidated to .Mac mail.
The worst was getting emails from old Windows Outlook files (PST). This involved a crazy amount of Googling and trial and error, but between Thunderbird and Entourage I was able to get things consolidated.
Now that Google supports IMAP, I'm not sure moving my Google stuff to .Mac was necessary. If you primarily use Mail.app, you can now connect to Google via IMAP as well as .Mac all in a single interface and copy between the two without messing around with POP3.
If you use .Mac web, you'll only be able to see your .Mac folders unless you want to download via POP3 (works, but not ideal) or have other accounts forward to .Mac (a hassle to setup if you don't know what you are doing).
    Anyway, question resolved.

  • Attachments getting lost on Mac Mail, but not on iPad/iPhone

We use several Mac computers, iPhones and iPads in our business, with GoDaddy as our email server. Emails with attachments work fine on the iPhones and iPads, but we are now losing the attachments on the Mac computers. This has recently happened. Any ideas? Is this a software update issue? I am running the OS X 10.8.3 version.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

I have not been able to open the email icon on my iphone. Just stopped working. I'll press the mail icon, get a blank screen and then it closes back to home page. I have two email accounts that were wroking fine a copupe of days ago.
    Anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks.

Have you tried restart, reset, restore?
    Page 34 of the manual:
"If something is not working right, restarting or resetting iPhone will likely solve the
    problem.
Restart iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and
hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
Reset iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the
