Mac Mail Signature Image Resolution-HELP!

I have a shiny new retina MBP...I created a signature for Mac Mail that looks crisp...until I created my first email.  The image in the signature is now grainy!  I read that Mac Mail doesn't play well with 300 dpi images.  So, I have reduced it to 100 dpi and then 72...I have also used jpg, png, and tif files.  All result in this grainy look.
Has anyone found a solution to get an image be retina compatible in the signature?
Thanks!

Definitely is your problem.
The image will not show up on anyone else's computer, but your own if it is fetched locally.
You should be able to paste the the image address in the browser and the image should render independent of Mail.
That is the nature of html mail,  it reaches out to fetch the images in the mark-up.
addendum:  if you do not have active server space available to host your image,  there are many alternatives. Dropbox public file is one example. The public link can be copied and pasted into the html .mailsignature

  • Mac Mail Signature Image NOT showing up on recipient end

    I am boggled, please help.
It's kind of a long story/process but I will try to sum up.
Basically, I needed to create an email signature for a client.
Their logo needed to be on the left side.
And their company information needed to be on the right side of the logo and centered.
Mac Mail ONLY lets me create the logo on top of the company information.
SO, I created it in Microsoft word.
Did some tests on the layout and finally was able to copy and paste from Word to my signature window in Mac Mail.
    Voila! All looks grand.
When I create a new message and choose my new email signature, I CAN SEE THE IMAGE AND TYPE PERFECT.
When I do a test and send it to myself, the ONLY thing wrong is that the IMAGE IS NO LONGER THERE. ONLY AN OUTLINE OF WHERE IT SHOULD BE.
HOWEVER! When I forward the email, IT'S THERE!
    What the heck?!
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I tested my icon with preview initially.
I saved the logo as a .png format.
    Opened it preview.
Selected all, copied and pasted into my signature.
Although it shows up, it's way bigger.
Which I think is fine because I can adjust it, however, then I have to add the company address NEXT to the logo.
And MacMail does not allow this.
As soon as I begin typing, it just won't appear NEXT to the logo and centered, where I need it to be.
That's what had led me to creating it in word.
    hmm

  • I need to change the hyperlink in my mac mail signature.  I go to remove it and edit and the old one is still there despite copying in a new one.  Help!

I had a difficult time several months ago personalizing my mac mail signature, now I need to change a hyperlink and it keeps putting in the old one even when I delete it and copy in a new one.  Don't know what to do...

  • Adding an iWeb hyperlink under my .mac mail signature

    Two question:
    1) I have tried to incorporate my new iWeb address into my .mac mail signature
but it will only 'grab' a certain number of characters. It leaves off the last 3 or 4. How do I remedy this?
    2) I have two .mac addresses on my .mac account. I want to switch to the more 'commercial' one. How do I do this?
    Thanks,

  • How do I export mac mail signatures?

Since migrating from Mobile Me to iCloud I have noticed that the signatures (of which I have a few) in Mac Mail do not sync to my other machines. My question is, how can I export my Mac Mail Signatures to another machine?

    Close Mail in both machines.
In the computer where your signatures are, go to your user library (in OS Lion this is hidden, but you may access it by holding down the option (alt) key while clicking on "go" then you will see the library item in the list. Another option to access it is to go to finder, click on "go", select "go to folder" and paste this: "~/Library"
Once you are there, go to Mail - > v2 -> MailData
You will find a folder called "Signatures". Copy this folder.
Go to the same locatin in the other machine. Make a backup copy of the "Signatures" folder and replace it with the other machine's folder.
Open Mail and check everything is running.

  • Mac Mail Signatures - Double Spaced?

Mac Mail Signatures show up as double spaced in GMail, but if I type out the same text it's fine. If I send to myself and look at it with Mobile Me's online viewer, it's fine too. What's the deal?

Carolyn: Thank you for the reply, however neither deselecting nor selecting that option has any effect on the location of the signature. In both cases it will appear at the end of the string of emails.
This is a time consuming annoyance - it would seem to be an easy thing to program that the signature lands wherever at the location of the cursor???

  • Mac Mail Signature Font

    Hello Everyone,
I am having a very strange problem in my Mac mail program and was wondering if anyone had any advice.
Our company has new customized email signatures and whenever we use this signature in an email it changes the font in the body of the email to match the font contained in the signature which is too small to use for an email.
I was just wondering if anyone has come across this problem before and if so, how did they fix it?
    Thanks!!

  • Mac Mail No Images

My Mac Mail isn't showing any images in the messages themselves in any of my accounts. What setting could be the cause? I have checked, "Display remote images in HTML messages", but that doesn't seem to help. Where there should be images are instead "?" marks.
    Thanks for any help,
    Tony

You have brought sanity back to my life. Like a mosquito that won't stop me leaving me alone this minor annoyance of not being able to see images in Mail but most of all being unable to figure out why this was the case was really driving me to distraction! Thanks for snitching on Little Snitch!

  • Mac Mail signature: hyperlinks?

i had my signature set in my Mac Mail (on my G4 iBook) to include my homepage, written as such: www.ctfoto.com
...without the 'http://' included, it nonetheless appeared in emails i sent as a highlighted hyperlink.
now though, with my new PowerPC G5, this doesn't appear as a hyperlink unless i include the 'http://'. for esthetic reasons though, i'd rather have it without the 'http://'.
    so, two questions:
    a- can i do such a thing? is this a G5 issue?
b- will html work in the signature pane? or another similar language?
    (i guess that's four questions...)
    -thanks,

Here's what I do & a solution to all who want to use an HTML signature with links and even CSS in-line formatting. FYI Mail uses the web archive format to produce the signature file.
It looks more complicated than it really is:
    1. CLOSE THE MAIL APP
    2. Create the HTML you want to use as a signature.
    3. Open the file using Safari and save it as a web archive onto your desktop.
    4. Go into mail and create a new signature. This doesn't have to be anything special since you are going to overwrite it anyway.
    5. Open finder and navigate to Username > Library > Mail > Signatures
    6. Copy the name of the new signature (it's long!) you just created there (the one with today's date and time you created it incase there are others).
    7. Rename the webarchive you created on your desktop from the HTML signature you created in step 1 with the name of the 'Mail-created' signature.
    8. Copy that webarchive into the Signatures folder and replace the other one with the same name.
    9. Reopen Mail and assign your new signature to your account(s).
I even use images in a few of mine. Have a blast.

  • Multiple email accounts in mac mail signatures

My boss uses Mac Mail with five different email accounts, each with an associated email signature.
When she composes an email, the "from" field defaults to whichever email account she used last, and its associated signature appears in the email. This is her issue since switching to Mavericks (not sure which version) : When she switches the "from" field from, say, her personal account to her legal practice account, both signatures appear in the email. In other words, the signatures don't switch when she switches accounts-- they just pile up at the end of the email.
Is there a setting that will allow her signatures to switch with the accounts, rather than her needing to go back and delete the additional signatures?

    1. OK, so I see a menu of outgoing smtp servers. Does that replace the 'sent from' field or is it just using that server to send the message?
The SMTP server is unrelated to the 'from' address.
The pop-up menu referenced only exists if you have multiple accounts configured in Mail.app preferences - if you only have one account then there's no point in Mail.app offering the chance to choose which account to send from.
You should use Mail Preferences to create additional accounts, one for each email address you use. Each account can be linked to a specific SMTP and POP/IMAP server for sending and receiving mail for that address.
If you have multiple addresses that you use with a single SMTP/POP/IMAP account then you can use a single Account setup in preferences - just list each email address in a comma-delimited list in the 'email address' field. e.g. creating an account with 'email address' set to: '[email protected], [email protected]' will give you options for those two email addresses when you create a new message.

  • I lost all email 6months and older in mac mail. Need Serious Help!

I lost all email 6 months and older in mac mail. In my in-box as a well as all other folders I created. I expected that the mac email software would keep all email as it did for me in when I used to use Outlook. As well I thought I was covered with the Time Machine I have installed. Well.....The Time Machine that I was aggressively encouraged to buy apparently doesn't back up email. If it does, I must need some secret decoder ring to unlock where it is. I need serious help. I lost months of professional and personal data. I need to fix this immediately and find some way to get my email back. Please help.

In March when I upgraded to Lion and iCloud I also experienced a similar problem (cluster of problems) which was solved by a password reset (conforming to new requirements) for my Apple ID. I'm glad to see that many nice people contributed and your primary problem is fixed.  My comment is on your Quicken problem.
Your data inside Quicken 2004 is on borrowed time.  In the process of researching personal budgeting apps I found many reports on the web that indicate Intuit as a company is scaling down Quicken (desktop) development and its future attention to the Mac platform will be minimal.
Did you know that Intuit is behind Mint.com?  You may be hesitant to put your financial data "in the cloud" and I may be being sheepish, but.. bbaaaa, bbaaaaa, the cloud is where it's going.  I know first-hand want a pain in the arse it is to customize an app to your liking.  I spent several hours on Mint.com setting up categories and tagging transactions.  It's tedious. I didn't look because I wasn't a Quicken user, but perhaps Intuit was nice enough to provide a data conversion path for Mint.com.  It is worth a look.
My second suggestion is to scour the web for a hack solution.  You can't be the only person who is facing this problem.  Quicken was very popular.  I just bet someone has posted directions or some code for exporting the Quicken 2004 data and manipulating it for something else.
    Good Luck.

  • How do I get my Mac Mail signature to be single spaced close together and not what looks like a double space?

I am using Mac Mail on Mac Air  with 10.10.  I have a multi line signature but it looks double spaced and I can't get it to look like a single spaced signature.  I tried different fonts and sizes.
    Appreciate your assistance.

I Finally resolved my problem after much research. On my I pad 4 with retina in the field under settings there is a list to choose from-- ex. Aol,Google, yahoo, etc. I chose other and entered att. Used pw and bingo! Problem resolved. It is somewhat configured a little different; but at least I can get all of my 500 e mails.
apple takes IMAP but this is under pop And at least my persistence paid off. You would think something so simple would be informative to us in a better way.

  • Mail Signature: image size keeps changing to fit window

When adding a logo image to a signature in mail, the image is not remaining the same size, it changes in size semingly to fit the width of the window that the email happens to be in. Mostly the image is showing larger than the window itself. We are having this problem on imac (snow leopard) and brand new macbook pro (mountain lion). I have tried using PNG and JPEG files but both have the same problem. Older signatures (2 years old) show the image correctly keeping it the same size. Any advice muchly appreciated : )

I worked it out in the end - I had 2 things too big in my image settings; the canvas size (which was 14cm long!) and he DPI (which was 300dpi) I have since changed to approx 8cm long and 100DPI and it now displays the logo in the signature without increasing the size of it to fit the size of the window. My only issue now is trying to get the image to still show in the reply thread, so that when you look down the email conversation you can see the logo in each of the previous email signatures. This one is stumping me!

  • Mac Mail Signatures Changing between them

On my mac book pro in Mac Mail when i change from one signature to another, it doesn't delete the previous signature so i end up with 2 in an email - how do i fix this?

I had the same issue, fixed it by creating a new signature and deleted the old one. Just copy and paste the content into a new signature and rename it afterwards. Hope that works for you too.

It sounds like you're trying to connect to a web server, not a mail server. Check with your ISP for the right server address and settings.
