Mac Mail stops recieveing mail with Gmail Accounts and Google Apps

We're having some chronic issues with our corporate Google Apps / Gmail service when used with Mac Mail. Regardless of the OSX version... when it's not one thing it's another. It's nice to see that 10.9.4 finally correctly inserts the proper, full username in the SMTP field for Google Apps users.
We still have some problems where users stop receiving mail silently in the middle of their workday. It wouldn't be such an issue, except that Mac Mail pretends nothing is wrong and suddenly the person realizes they are 3 hours behind on their emails. Magically, quitting and re-opening mail resolves the issue. Even more disturbing, is this article on apple support which lists this stupidity as the official workaround

I suppose one could argue that Outlook 2011's integration with gmail accounts is even worse. There's something to be said about "AirMail" being the #2 app in all the appstore currently. Clearly Apple and Google aren't putting their best foot forward to make this work.
I guess what I'm looking for is something concrete other than "Restart Mail to get mail coming in again". Is there some workaround to see the connection status to see if something is stalled?
Googles version of an IMAP system works poorly with most clients. If you are going to use it then choosing a client that works the way Google wants them too is a wise course.
Of that breed MailPlane is easily the best, AirMail is a solid second.

Outlook 2013 with Office 365 and Google Apps Sync.
This is the scenario, hopefully somebody can give me some insight on how to resolve this.
Outlook 2013 with gapps. Both updated.
Outlook profile with an office 365 email account (which is as an exchange account) and google apps with our main account.
We installed an office 365 account since its the only way that several users can share and edit the same contacts on Outlook. They use almost all contact fields.
Gapps its the main email address and calendar. Shared calendars are deeply used too.
The problem is that when I edit a contact (the exchange account) I get an error -when- I edit the email field.
"The operation failed. The messaging interfaces returned an unknown error."
If I make a new Outlook profile with the exchange account and the gapps account via imap setup I get not errors BUT I loose calendars sync.
So I went back to the main profile and thought. <maybe both contacts engines are screwing Outlook.> So, since I don't care about gapps contacts anymore I disabled via:
Disable sync for individual products

And also disabled the dynamic Global Address (just in case).
But the same happens.
I tried with another box, with office 2010, updated it and made a new profile with the office 365 and gapps and the same history.
Finally I though about setting the office 365 account as imap but contacts are not downloaded.
So I'm between a rock and a hard place here.

Mail does not work with gmail accounts anymore
Since yesterday or so, my google mail accounts don't connect anymore. All of them. All other accounts are still working.
- Connection doctor tells me the standard "couldn't connect, check if its really port 993 blah" thing.
- I'm on 10.9.5
- I tried remove one of the accounts under Internet Accounts and "re install" it, which worked partially: Internet Accounts accepted the google password, and added the account. I ticket Emails. It reappeared in Mail, but still with connection issues (and now no emails what-so-ever associated with that account).
What can I do next?Have you checked your incoming and outgoing mail server settings?
If you are using IMAP, it should look something like the following:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
imap.gmail.com
Port: 993
Requires SSL:Yes
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires TLS
smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465 or 587
Requires SSL: Yes
Requires authentication: Yes
Use same settings as incoming mail server
If you are using POP3, it should look something like the following:
Incoming mail server type: POP3
Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server: pop.gmail.com. Google Apps users, enter the server name provided, don't add your domain name in these steps.
Port: 995
Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Outgoing server requires authentication: enabled -
Cant add nor edit Contacts since added gmail account by google apps
Time ago I´ve used to have only 1 mail account set on my blackberry, a gmail account ([email protected]), and used the google sync (http://m.google.com/sync) to synchronize contacts between the smartphone and the webmail account. It has been working like a charm for a long time. At that time, I could create and edit contacts and the changes got synchronized in both sites.
A month ago I decided to create through Google Apps an email address with my own internet domain ([email protected]), and decided to add this email address to the smartphone to check both accounts. The first surprise came when I noted that adding this email address (following the procedure to add any email address) has caused the BB to activate it, like BES mode, against the gmail server.
Suddenly I discovered that I cant create nor edit contacts in BB, but I can in the webmail interface of the google apps email address. The contact created using the web interface is syncronized to the BB.
The issue is that I cant create nor edit contacts in the smartphone!
Have anyone experienced something similar to this?
Any idea will be greatly appreciated

Enhanced Gmail plugin and google Apps
I had the enhanced plugin got my BB working with a Gmail account. I migrated to a google apps account, and now, I have to manually configure the account in BIS and I also do not have my enhanced gmail capabilities..does anyone know if I can get this functionality back?

New GMail sync and Google Apps vs GMail
Has anyone tried this yet? I'm curious if it will work with Google Apps vs GMail only. I've been out of town lately and haven't had time to play with it any early feedback?

Trouble with GoDaddy Domain and Google Apps Email
This question doesn't really involve Apple too much, though I do use MobileMe to host a website and GoDaddy provides the Domain Name without flaws.
Previously, Yahoo hosted my Domain Name, and I had my Mx Records set up so that all emails were forwarded to Google Apps, and it worked using Google's instructions. Now I use GoDaddy for the Domain Name Hosting, and have used Google's instructions again (but this time for GoDaddy), and now my email does not work.
I have already contacted GoDaddy multiple times, and they are not willing to help me at all.
If anyone else uses these services, I would greatly appreciate if you could maybe Screen-Shot your Mx Records in GoDaddy for me so that I may finally get my Email back working.

I have a one year old MacBook Pro, using Yosemite OS. In my Mac mail account I use gmail. I have recently been stung by an e- mail scam using WhatsApp. When I changed my password I was able to move on with mail on my phone and laptop. I now find that all the mails I sent yesterday have got stuck in my Outbox and have not actually been sent. i have since opened up my gmail account via Google and have pasted i the messages and successfully sent from there.
How can I now restore my Mac Mail on the laptop to send my mail?

It sounds like you are suddenly unable to send email from the Mail app but can log into your webmail and send the emails without issue. I recommend you use the following article, to help figure out what the issue is, named:

Not receiving mail from people with gmail accounts
Has anyone run into a situation where they stopped receiving e-mails from contacts with gmail accounts? I seem to get mail from all other mail providers, just not gmail - sending messages to gmail contacts also doesn't seem to be working. All was fine up until about 2 weeks ago.
Any ideas?If IMAP for your GMail is still not working correctly, then setup a new email account under Settings > Mail,.... > Add Account > Microsoft Exchange.
Then enter the following
Email: your GMail address
Domain: Leave blank
Username: your GMail address
Password: your GMail password
Description: Up to you what you enter here.
Click Next
Server: m.google.com
Click Next and now you can select what services you wish to sync with your iPod.
Mail: On
Contacts: Up to you
Calendars: Up to you.
You should have your GMail account backup and running, on your iPod. -
I have a problem with Mail on my Macbook Pro. It is configurated with a gmail account, and now I can't access the mail. Is it possible to reboot the account or..? Please help:)
The question mark means the computer cannot find a bootable volumes so can;t do anything, That, combined with annoying sounds, strongly suggests a failed hard drive.
You can ask a "genius" at an Apple Rtail Store to test it but I'm pretty sure the drive is kaput. I'm hoping you had your data backed up. -

When I do things on my Macbook, they are more or less OK although sometimes there is a delay when deleting mail and having it synch up with my other devices. However, if I go to my iphone and go thru my mail and then go to my macbook in the evening, i am finding that all of my mail is showing up like I never looked at it before. All mail is showing up unread, deleted e-mails are in my inbox, etc. I installed the mavericks update for mail last week, and still things are not working. I really need some help in resolving this issue. I expect this kind of stuff from Windows OS upgrades...not Apple

Mail crashes repeatedly, with gmail accounts, sometimes by itself
Mail crashes always on attempts to forward, sometimes just when it's idle.
I am using it to access two gmail accounts and my icloud/me accounts.Do a backup.
Quit Mail.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Restart, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

Crashes/quits unexpectedly -
My Gmail and Cox accounts and won't work well with my Apple Mail, The mail won't download into my gmail account and I frequently am requested to put my IMAP password in, and it is then rejected.I go to mail preferences and put the password in the appropiate place and I am told the password is new and do I want to use it. I reply yes but its not saved. Any suggestions
On the left, you should have a list of keychains and categories. If not, Select Show Keychains from the View menu.
Select the login keychain and All Items in the Category.
In the search field, type something that will help find your account keychains, like "gmail."
Select the keychain for your email account password and delete it. -
on my ipad3, i have a company email account, gmail account, and a yahoo account. my issue is that when using my company email account (making sure that my company email account is on the From: field), the recepient on the over end receives it with my google email account on the From:. and so when they reply, it goes to my gmail account.
Please note that my "default email" is yahoo.com on the ipad's settings - > mail.
i do not have any forwarding and this only happens on my ipad.
Advice is appreciated. Thank youios devices can only send emails from the default sending email you setup that in the settings

Mail won't synch with Gmail IMAP
Same problem as so many other loyal Mac users on these forums...
New Macbook Pro 2013 running Mavericks 10.9.1 and Mail 7.1 (1827).
It's been synching fine with Gmail IMAP for months. Then two days ago, was no longer to synch incoming mail. I can still send Gmail fine. just won't receive new mail.
Yes, I checked my settings. They're fine.
I've spent hours on these forums looking up and trying the various home remedies: Repair Permissions, Take All Mail Offline/Online, Uncheck SHow All Mail Imap, nothing works.
Can we just get the %&*%&$ Mail to WORK?
What else can I do?Mac Mail stopped synching my inbound GMail last evening. Was working fine for several months on 10.9.x. Non-GMail accounts worked okay. Connection Doctor was all green. Restarted Mail and the laptop a few times. Tried Safe Mode, repaired permissions and system disk.
There's a link to Google support at the bottom of the Mail > Preferences > Accounts window so I clicked it, poked around and found this troubleshooting suggestion on the Known Issues page a few minutes ago (link is below):
IMAP client stopped syncing mail from the server
If you are experiencing problems with your IMAP client, try changing the visibility of “All mail” and “Drafts” labels from the (GMail web) settings:
Click the gear icon in the upper-right and select Gmail settings on the top of any Gmail page.
Select the Labels tab.
Ensure that the "Show in IMAP" checkbox is selected for both "All mail" and "Drafts".
Neither of these were checked as I didn't want "All mail" sent down to my Mac. But changing these settings caused unsynced mail to be delivered. Permanent fix? Who knows? Thought I'd mention it though.
