Mac Mail v4.1 stalls after attaching a Word document

I have had intermittent trouble when attaching a Word doc onto an email. Right after the attachment is made, if I click back into the email body to continue typing, Mail stalls. This has occurred since the upgrade to Snow Leopard.

I think you may be misundestanding. It freezes up just after the attachment is inserted - meaning, I get the dreaded spinning wheel. I have to force quit. When I reopen Mail, the message window reappears, but without the attachment. So I reattach, and typically it works, as long as I don't try to amend the message.

The mailbox list is divided into categories with headings in caps, such as ON MY MAC. When you hover the cursor over one of those headings (except for MAILBOXES), you should see the word Show or Hide on the right. Click Show. The MAILBOXES category can't be hidden.
In each category, the mailboxes are arranged in groups, such as Inbox. To the left of each group is a small disclosure triangle. If the triangle points to the right, click it so that it points down.

Ole, attaching a word document in forms6i

Hi everyone,
I am planning to attach a word document using an ole container in a blob database item in oracle 6i forms environment.
I was able to do it but when a word document is opened i was not able to restrict few users from editing the word.(Allow all user to add notes(insert) via word document, allow all users to double click and read the notes but restrict few users from updating the notes in the word document)
I can control on preupdate of the block but I not able to do any validation when the word document is opened.
I wanted to check if anyone has done this before.Are there any tips, suggestion, pros and cons on using ole.

COM object model not functioning after encrypting the word document using office extention

     After encrypting A word document using office extention, it seems like the COM object model becomes unusable. I cannot not manipulate the encrypt document through COM interface, nor can I write macro VBScript to do some operation on the docuent.
     For example, I create a word Macro with some simple code.

     If the document is not encrypt, then we will see a msgbox which tells us the number of bookmarks in the current document.
     Now, encrypt the word document using the office extention, running the macro code will fail with error code " 80004005" and error message:Method 'Fields' of bject 'ThisDocument' failed.
It is very important for us to manipulate word documents through COM interface in our system, I want to know why the COM interface does not work anymore after the document is encrypted.

I take macro script as an example to demonstrate that word COM object model cannot be used after encripted. Actually you can reproduce the same problem when you manipulate word document through COM interface using any programming language.
For example, you can create a text document with the following VBscript:
set a = createobject("Word.Application")
set doc = a.Documents.Open("E:\temp\test.docx")
msgbox doc.Fields.count
doc.close
a.quit
Save the document with ".vbs" file extention and then run it by double clicking it. it will fail if the document is encrypted using the office extention.

OTM can not open attachment with Word Document(*.docx)

With more and more use of Word Document(*.docx) (version 2007). OTM (Oracle Test Manager) can create an attachment with it, but can not open attachment with Word Document(*.docx). Is this a problem for anyone else? Any wok around?

I am using OTM version 9.2 and the Word document (*.docx) attachment can be opened in this.
For being able to open a docx file, try to attach an word document from the file option in the Requirements, Test or Issue tabs in OTM , once you upload the file, please check if location is " in Database" Else click update DB and upload the document.
Once the attachment is attached to the Attachment section in the right pane, clicking on the attachment will open the *.docx document.
This has worked for me.

I installed Word for Mac previously. I can not figure out how to download the content of the flash drive into the Mac. Probably very simple but obviously I am a new user. Any suggestions?

Drag them from the drive to the Documents item in the Finder's sidebar.

If you want to use that word document during Results recording or inspection , you can create & use as follows.
1) create document using CV01N
2) Attach that document in Inspection method using QS31
3) Attach that inspection method to MIC.
By this way , you can attach that Word or any document to MIC & can be used during results recording process.

To add to what Kappy said, note that you really can't control how some other mail client might display an attachment. Some may display them inline, while others may require them to be opened separately. And different people have different desires in this area... some want a PDF file, for example, displayed inline, while others prefer for it not to be. Just attach the file(s) and don't worry about this so much.
Also, I do have to disagree with Kappy on one point... I would not say that you "should" compress files and attach the compressed archive file. That will force all mail clients not to display the attachment inline, but not everyone will want that (you'd be forcing your tastes on all recipients of your e-mail), and some people have difficulty figuring out how to open and view the contents of compressed files. It's an extra step for you and an extra step for the recipient, and is not needed for most popular file types. (Of course, we could advise you more specifically if we knew what file types you're dealing with.)

Mac mail makes no sound after sleeping

Why does Mac Mail stops making the new mail alert sound after falling asleep? How can I solve this?
I have to close mail, wait a few seconds, then reopen to restore the sound. Very annoying.

Mac Mail 5.3 Won't attach PDFs Launched from Acrobat or MYOB

I thought this was an Adobe Acrobat Pro X 10.1.7 issue - when I open a PDF in Acrobat and click "Share" > "Attach To Email" - Mac Mail does launch but the new email window is blank and I get an error message in Adobe Acrobat "An error occurred while trying to create a mail document. Acrobat is unable to complete your request.". So I posted this originally on the Adobe community forum.
However, I just tried to send a pdf straight out of my MYOB accounting software and the same thing happened.
Never had any issues before, and send pdfs all day every day this way.
Have cleared all cache in all applications.
Have cleared font cache.
Have run Disk Doctor and repaired disk permissions.
Trying to avoid reinstalling software.
Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks Michael, have tried that, no luck. I will wait a couple of days to see if any other solutions come up (or if anyone else is suddenly having the same issue) before reinstalling Acrobat.
[OK just tried sending a PDF attachment directly from another program (MYOB) through to Mac Mail and had the same problem so it is not an Acrobat issue afterall, it is a Mac Mail or Mac OS X issue. Will post this on the Apple site.]
I have resolved the MYOB issue, it was working just painfully slow. So I still have the original Acrobat Pro PDF to Mac Mail issue if anyone knows of any solutions please?

How do I send .jpg from Mac Mail (5.2) as an attachment to Outlook?

I'm trying to send some photos to an Outlook email address. They're telling me the photos are embedded. When I send the email with .jpg's "attached" they show on my end as embedded and are received by the Outlook user as such. How do I go about getting a .jpg to attach like a .pages or .pdf file? Mac Mail slow to sync after upgrade Yosemite 10.10.2 and OS X Server 4.0.3

We have deployed server OS X Server 4.0.3 and all client computer configured with DNS, Open Directory and Mail Server of OS X Server 4.0.3. It is quick to deliver mail before upgrade. And it is quick to deliver mail from iOS now. But it too slow to use Mac Mail. Even send to myself from intranet it costs 3 mins.

I have no solution but have experienced failing sync settings (quite often) in both 10.6 Server and 10.9 + Server 3 (upgraded from 10.6 Server) in the same way as you described, it syncs too much. We have given up on synched home folders and will cut them and use other backup methods since we’re not so dependant on switching between different devices. Our users usually have one computer, one iPhone, one iPad and stay with those until it’s time to exchange them.

Some of the time when I send an email with a word document attached, PC cannot open it. Am I doing something wrong? Could someone let me know how to fix this problem. Thank you in advance for all your help.

Go to SU3, go to parameters tab and enter parameter ID = SD_SWU_ACTIVE and value as X.
Now go to sales order in VA02
You can see "Services for Object" link at the top left.
Click this and then click the Create button. Here you can link the attachments.
You can also do this by means of a program.
You can retrieve such documents from teh sales order whenever you want.

Can't create hyperlinks after converting a Word document with Acrobat XI Pro

Hello,
Here's my problem.
I'm making a catalog document for my company.
The document that I'm converting to PDF is made on Office Word 2013 and it's a .docx format file.
I'm on Windows 8 and the latest version of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro installed.
Inside my word document I have some pictures that have a hyperlink. Those hyperlinks directionate to a bookmark inside the word document. Inside the word document, if I do Ctrl+Click over the image, it will go to the page that has that bookmark. And it works. Period.
Beside that I also have some Cross-references on the word document. Those cross-references basically are the page number from the bookmark reference. By accident on most of those cross-refrences I left enabled the "Insert as hyperlink" on the cross-reference box options. When I Ctrl+Click over those cross-references I also go into the page of that cross-reference.
After I convert the word document into pdf, I can't get any hyperlink on the pictures, if I simply click on them, like if I click on a hyperlink on a webpage or something similar, the pdf won't go the the bookmark on the page that I've set on the word document.
The funny thing is that if I click on the other cross-references I can go to the page were that cross-reference is...
I tried all the methods to convert the file in order to obtain hyperlinks on the images...
I tried to use the Acrobat tab and the File -> Save as Adobe PDF, as both uses Acrobat PDFMaker, but nothing works.
Even tried all options on Acrobat PDFMaker but can't get it. "Create bookmarks", "Add links", "Convert Word Bookmarks", "...Word Styles to Bookmarks", "...Word Headings to Bookmarks", none works....
If I try to simply print from inside Word by choosing the Adobe PDF printer (like if I choose a regular printer), in the printers options it doesn't show up any hyperlink/link/bookmark option related, so that way is definitely a no go...
To reference, on 2006/2007 I also worked on a similar project and used this method on the word document (on Word 2003). At that time I had another Adobe Acrobat version, can't remember what version was...
This hyperlink situation was without any problem. After conversion, on the pdf file, if I click on a image it went to the right place inside that pdf file...
So I'm simply lost wether it's a problem of me, a problem of Word, a problem from Acrobat... simply lost...
I'm desperated....please, someone help me!!!

Ok, sorry for never talk since the last time, but I finally discovered why I had this problem.
I found out that M$ decided somehow to change the process of embedded hyperlinks on a image, but in a docx it doesn't get affected. Only after transforming it into a pdf by Acrobat that the problem emerges...

Basically all I have to do is "Use Insert, Quick Parts, Field, IncludePicture. This inserts the picture in the old way as a field. You can use Alt-F9 to reveal the field codes and change the images to be embedded rather than linked."
Then, after converting it with acrobat, the pdf finally have hyperlinks on the images!!!
They change this on Word 2007. As I had the 2003, at the time, I didn't had this problem.
As I said, M$ changed something, but only is affected after converting with acrobat. So, acrobat also missed something in the process. I call it a 50/50 guilt.
To bad no one ever notice this problem...
