    From .Mac Support...
About setting up other email programs
You can use any standard email program to read your .Mac Mail messages.
To set up other email programs:
Open your email program and set up an account that uses:
Your .Mac member name for the account name
Your .Mac password for the mail password
quot;mail.mac.com" for the POP or IMAP server
Your ISP's SMTP server for the outgoing mail server
If your email application supports authenticated SMTP, you can use "smtp.mac.com" as your SMTP server. This allows you to send mail from locations where you cannot use your ISP's SMTP server.
Mac OS X Mail supports authenticated SMTP and is set up to use smtp.mac.com for .Mac Mail accounts by default.
Note: Some ISPs restrict access to the TCP port (25) used by SMTP. If your ISP is blocking port 25, you can use your email application to change the port to 587 and try again. If you continue to have trouble sending mail using smtp.mac.com, switch back to your ISP's SMTP server.
For information on using a web browser instead of a desktop email program to access your .Mac Mail messages, search .Mac Help for "reading email."
    Hope that helps.

  • Web dynpro abap application on Portal does not work via internet access.

    Dear All,
I have created a web dynpro abap application and deployed the same on Portal.
The issue I am facing is that the webdynpro application works fine when the end user logs into Portal from Local Network,
However when the Portal is accessed from outside the local N/W via Internet, Portal is working fine for other applications like ESS

Is this some configuration issue on the portal / abap development or any workaround is possible.

  • Can't install Mac OSX via Internet recovery onto my new SSD

I just installed an SSD in my Macbook Pro 2012 (non Retina), but when i try to reinstall Mac OSX 10.7 via Internet recovery it doesn't recognize the new Drive (it does appear in disk utility when connected to another mac externally.) Please Help.

reinstall Mac OSX 10.7 via Internet recovery
The only folks who can get a free copy of Mac OS X 10.7 via Internet recovey are those who bought it previously. If you removed your old drive, and its Recovery_HD with your Apple_ID in it, how do you expect Apple to know who is asking for this download?
There are more reliable ways to do what you want to do.
Is you old drive still operable?
Do you have an external enclosure or another drive over 20GB?
    Do you have another Mac?
Do you have a spare USB stick?

You cannot import addresses into Mail. You must import them into Address Book for them to be available in Mail. Open Address Book, then Help > Address Book Help, and read the “Importing contacts into Address Book” article to see how this works.

  • Mac and Windows internet access

    Hi
I've got my MacBook configured to startup in Windows XP or Mac OS X. Mostly I use Mac (of course) which is where I access the internet. But I have a need to access the internet via the Windows side and it won't. I have tried the Wizard but to no avail. Has anybody any suggestions of what I need to do.

    Apple Setup.exe
XP is bad on security so it may try to run automatically.
HOW TO and more is in the Boot Camp FAQ and PDF guide (access from Boot Camp Assistant as well)

Your Mac OS X DVD has a Windows /BootCamp volume that only shows up when in Windows. You can copy that to your XP system as well and run from there.

Unfortunately, yes.  On the upside, your Time Capsule lasted about twice as long as normal.

  • Downloading of emails via webmail, iPhone and Mac Mail

I currently access emails from my ISP via three avenues. I use webmail when I'm in the office, iPhone on the go and Mac Mail at home. However, I will end up seeing the same emails three times. Even after deleting unwanted emails from my webmail, they will still appear in iPhone and Mac Mail when I access emails and vice versa. Has this anything to do with the POP or IMAP settings? I have set my ISP email on iPhone and Mac Mail under POP. I have ever tried to change the POP to IMAP with same results.
    Any advice? Thanks.

I am having the same issue.

  • Complete wireless internet access failure:(

Ok everyone, here is the low down for the last month.
I use a 2005 ibook G4, access internet and email set up w/ Mac Mail thru my airport card and jump on wireless cafe that i live next 2. For 3 whole months, i was set up and running internet and email perfectly. I didn't change any setting, service, etc. Except the network from cafe (from linksys to RGII).
1st: as of 1/1, i lost my ability to send email thru Mac mail using wireless access (thru cafe). Error was "port 25 timed out". After spending 4 days with ISP, setting- resetting POP account and outgoing server, pinging port 25 to verify sent, scanning port 25 to verify, etc, etc, etc. This produced no resolution.
2nd: as of 1/21, I have lost complete internet access. I have run the network diagnostic to fix, no go...
SO, I took my ibook to the Genius bar at Apple store for a looksy. Sure enough some setting were off or changed, (by my own troubleshooting). After everything was checked and reset, all was A-OK (at the Store). I could access internet, received AND send email. Yippee!
NOW here is the tricky part... as soon as i got home and turned her on, I could see the airport finding networks (RGII), But when I try to access email or internet (thru Mac Mail, safari) it says my ibook is not connected to internet, same for email. I run the network diagnostic, and it can't fix problem.
When I go next door to see if the cafe is having router problems on there end...Nope everyone is accessing the internet just fine:(
This is NOT a problem with password etc, As the cafe is set up with authentication as NONE. Plus everyone there is able to use the wireless access.
So what do you propose is my problem? Remember this was all working fine for 3 months and started to fall apart this last month. In addition, to having eveything work just fine at the Apple store a mere 30mins before.
Could this be an issue with the RGII network i am jumping on?
Why would I be the only person effected and not everyone at the cafe?
ibook   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   wireless access at cafes

Though it doesn't solve your issue, I thought I'd
share that I can access many non-Apple access points
(Cisco 1200's, Linksys WAP54G's for example) with OS
10.4.4. This being so, I think we're safe to assume
the issue is not related to a recent OS update.
I'm afraid I must disagree with this. Few months back, I lost my Airport connection when I installed the 10.4.3 System Update. Fixed by restoring from backup and going back to 10.4.3. Managed to upgrade to 10.4.4 successfully and maintain wireless connection to a Compex 802.11g base station. Then I made the mistake of accepting the Airport 2005-001 update. Immediately lost my Airport connection. Other PCs can connect to the base station, and I can access the internet by connecting my Powerbook to the router using Ethernet. Can even see the Airport network and login to the router's admin page over wireless. Only thing that doesn't work is connecting to the internet wirelessly.
Once I changed my base station to an older one I had lying around, I can connect wirelessly again and all seems well.
My conclusion is that Airport Update 2005-001 definitely broke compatibility between Airport Extreme and some 3rd party base stations. The irony is that this update was supposed to "improve" compatibility !

  • HT5225 Problem with Mac Mail

I do not want to access my MAC mail via my browser, I prefer accessing my mail in the Mac Mail application!  How do I do this?

Seems like  it  storing the same emails in different folders .  As i see now :
    All Mail  5.11 GB
    Inbox     2.82 GB
    Important  2.56 GB
    Sent Mail  1.8 GB
    Sent          767.4 MB
    Starred     482.4 MB
    Drafts      57.4 MB
    Trash       9.7 MB
    Junk e-mail  671 kb
    Bin              414 kb
    Spam      0
    Deleted Items   0
    Apple Mail To Do  0
    Priority 0
    Follow up  0
    Misc  0
from this above , i can understand that  Inbox ( 2.82 Gb )  and Sent ( 767.4 Mb ) and Drafts are  real folders that contains actual files according to the current status on server .
what the **** the other folders contains , i can not get.  I though those folders should have just show the same files available in the main folders , in different way, according to Folder focus.  Am i right ??
apparently i suspect they just copied original files for some purpuses, insead of working as simple filter folders.
can anybody explain me , how to work this out and make my Mail app do not dublicate emails , but store them in appropriate way and show it to me .

  • Mac Mail, iPhone, Edge versus WiFi (Corporate Settings)

I have Mac mail set up fine on the iPhone it works O.K. on Edge at the usual AT&T speed, but I am seeing issues when trying to access the web and Mac Mail through my work's WiFi network.
They offer a "public access" (this is a hospital), that when you access WiFi with the web-browser it passes you by a couple of agreement pages (it's a securlogin.arubanetwork.com address). It warns that the speed is throttled down to 0.5 Mb/second, the session expires after 8 hours and access is restricted to HTTP and HTTPS protocols but you can use VPN to tunnel to your home network.
If I acess through WiFi (it asks for an e-mail address) using the web-browser, then web access to Mac Mail and to web-pages are ok, the WiFi triangle is 3-4 bars and the speed is "good". However if I do this work WiFi web-access through the browser and then turn-around and access the Mail app on the iPhone and Mac Mail off that, then the WiFi "triangle" drops right down to the bottom line and "Checking for Mail" goes on-and-on (both at the top of the screen and the footer of the screen) ultimately nothing appears to update. I've checked against Mac Mail via a PC and confirmed that there are changes, but they do not come over under this mode. If I switch WiFi off and then check mail using Edge, the changes come right on through.
I am guessing that the work WiFi is the stumbling block, that even using the Mail app on the iPhone it is trying to reverify that web-access. Anyone got any ideas of any settings that I could use on the iPhone that may allow my to get speedy access from Mail through this WiFi process asking for a verified logon? Thanks.

    Malcolm Barnes,
If they are limiting access to just VPN, HTTP and HTTPS, then Mail.app won't be able to access the .Mac mailbox, but may try and retry a few different approaches to accessing the mailbox to work around that stumbling block. Working with just .5 MB, that could consume a good portion of your individually available bandwidth.
At that point, I suspect your network may start trying to block you, until you can make a new connection, because you are using ports that aren't allowed. (25, 143, 587 and/or 993).
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

Do you want to access your .Mac account with an email client such as Outlook Express on this PC?
You can always access your .Mac account via webmail access using a browser instead of setting up and accessing the account with an email client such as Outlook Express.
If you want to access your .Mac account with an email client such as Outlook Express on this PC, select IMAP as the account type when creating the account.
Under User Information, enter your full name in the Name Field or whatever name you want to appear next to the email address when sending a message with the account.
Email Address: Self explanatory - enter your .Mac account email address.
Account Name: The portion of your .Mac account email address in front of the @ sign only.
    Account Password: You should know.
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.mac.com
    Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mac.com
Under Outgoing Mail Server select, "My server requires authentication".
For Settings select, "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".
Under the Advanced tab for the account preferences under Server Port Numbers for the Outgoing mail (SMTP), enter 587 in place of 25 in the space provided.
