Mac Mail Wrong Display Name

My Mac mail app for my icloud account has the wrong display name for the account. About three years ago, I bought my mac on the company credit card, and had to use our accounting director's name for the billing address. (We'll call him Richard Nicks). Three years later, I open Mac mail and HIS name is the display name for my icloud email!
Of course it's grayed out, so I have to change it in the icloud account. But when I go log into icloud, his name does not show up anywhere. I've confirmed the email addresses are all the same so I know I don't have multiple accounts or anything. I've closed mail, resynchronized it, rebuilt the database, no joy. Where in the world is it getting his name from and how can I change that?

In Account Preferences, the name and email address are grayed out so I cannot change those.
I looked in my contacts, go under All iCloud, and there's only one contact. The picture is of a piano that says Me, so I assume that is my Me card. This has my correct name.
Interesting to note, when I send an email from iCloud on my iPhone, it comes across with the correct display name.
I'm at a loss on where else to check. Thanks for the help!

Mac Mail is displaying strange characters

My Mac Mail is displaying these strange characters on a number of seemingly random emails from people. However, when I copy the message and paste it into a word document or the internet browser address bar it converts these "letter A in a box" characters into what the words actually were. But this is a hassle and I'd rather just be able to read the text directly in my mail application... Thanks for the help.. hopefully it is a simple fix.

Mac mail not displaying complete images

Hi. For some reason, mac mail (on Lion) has started to cut off images I receive on emails. It will display about the top 10% of the image and the rest in greyed out. I've tried opening the image on various bit of software and it's always the same. However, if I look at the same mail on the ipad then the image in the mail displays fine.
Any ideas? Thanks.

SP 2013 wrong display name

Hello gyus,
we are having troubles with several user accounts in Sharepoint 2013. Some users report their display name in SharePoint is wrong. For example... John Doe see himself logged as Martha Sanchez. He posses her permissions to Sharepoint and vice versa. We have
deleted users and ran full sync - did not help.
Have anyone experienced this?

Try this,
As a site collection administrator, click Site Actions –> Site Permissions
Click into any existing group (like site Owners). The URL will be something like http://server/_layouts/people.aspx?MembershipGroupID=28.
Change the 28 to a 0. The list should now show you All People.
Find the user who isn’t updating, click the checkbox by their name. Click Actions, Delete Users from Site Collection.
Now add the user back to the appropriate group, and their spelling should be correct.

How do I set Mail to display Name AND email address in the message

I thought I used to have this setting and now I cannot find it (if there is one)
Can't I set mail to show Name and email address in the address box both when creating a message and viewing one?

Wrong display name in Spiceworks ticket

We have please email their tickets from Exchange... However, there is one user that their name, in the ticket, is displayed wrong... The user's name is Ann Cade... The ticket states that it's Aaron Cade... We don't know how that is happening to ONE user... We have checked AD and also the Exchange properties for this user... Any help would be appreciated... Thank you!!

The issue you are describing was resolved in an Outlook Hotfix package a year ago. See

It has since been included in one of the public Outlook updates, so if you install the latest Outlook patches, it will solve your problem.

Why has mac mail stopped displaying images in emails?

upgraded to ML when it came out, all fine, but 2 weeks ago, mail suddenly stopped displaying any images in my emails.

Re: my Mac also JUST stopped showing embedded images in my email several weeks back. I've done it all to fix it including reloading mail program but still no luck. this is really ticking me off because I can not even tell what the emails are about. what the heck, doesn't someone from Apple review these posts once in a while.

My mac mail quit displaying new email.

Sunday afternoon my 'Mail Activity' window indicated I had new email. Nothing displayed in my inbox. I have two mac systems and both are having the same problem. I am getting my mail on my iPhone and via Yahoo mail without issues. I have an SBCglobal.net account as part of my phone/dsl service. My wife's account works fine. Settings are all the same, rebooting doesn't help. The message count appears in the 'Mail Activity' window, the tone sounds indicating mail is downloading, but never appears anywhere.

I had the same issue, after a day I have realize that I wasnt getting any new mail. I click on everything to figure it out and try this out:
-Go to Trash on the left.
-Its gonna show: -On my Mac
-Att/Yahoo (depends on your email provider)
-Click on: Att/Yahoo if you have that option.
and it will show a message : to go Online, because probably you switch it to offline which that was my case and didnt realize.
and Done, you will see you will getting mail normally.

Mail not displaying names in "From" field correctly

In my address book, I have people's names and their E-Mail addresses. It automatically completes the field when I send it; however, when I receive E-Mails from my contacts, it doesn't fill their name in. For instance, sometimes it just lists their E-Mail address, even though it is in my Address Book. Sometimes it gives the name they entered on their E-Mail server, not as the name I gave them.
Is there any way to rectify this problem?

Does that mean that I am going to have to tell ALL of my friends here in Japan to mess around with the way there phone stores/sends their addresses? OR will I be forced to get Docomo, AU and all of the mobile carriers in Japan to change their system???
There has to be a better answer...
If anyone in Japan has sorted this out, please let me know.

Mac Mail 3 html formatting issues

I have some people I've been working with who recently upgraded to Mac Mail 3 and since a quarantine report they receive about email that was filtered no longer displays correctly. It displays correctly for anyone using anything other than Mac Mail 3 but for them, the first line of the report looks fine but everything after that looks way oversized. The report comes in an html format. Does anyone know of any issues with Mac Mail 3 displaying html formatted emails correctly and if there are any fixes for it?

THX for help, but that didn't help me. Maybe I didn't describe my Point exactly.
I receive a email, which have two alternative contents. One is HTML-content and the other is the TXT-content.
When I receive the email with 10.4.11, mail.app offer me the second alternative view (View->Message->Plain Text Alternative (AltAppleP) ) So I can see the TXT version of the mail.
In mail.app 3.5 (Leo) the point is grayed out, like as there is no txt version of the mail. (Same mail…)

Mac mail import from excel email list

Using leopard on new imac. Could someone please give me some advice for importing to mac mail. I purchased 2000 email leads which was emailed to me in excel format. I can open in numbers fine and looks great. My problem is I need to import these leads to mac mailß, with email, name, address, phone, etc. and haven't found a way to do this. Can anyone help. Thanks in advance. Gary

Try importing them into the address book, this is where mail gets it's email addresses from. There is an option to import a text file. Just back up the address book before you import them since this could create a problem since it's dependent on file headers. i've never tried this before so I'm going out on a whim but the help files in the address book says that it supports importing of csv and tab deliminated files. I would not use the text file if it's been saved from numbers. Use the exact file that was sent to you by the company you purchased the contacts from. Good luck!

Mail Changing Attachment Names

Does anyone find that their Mac Mail changes attachment names into something like ??Q?documentname?=? so you are unable to open them unless you rename and save?
I think I have narrowed it down to only happening with attachments that have a long(ish!) filename. It only happens when a Mac computer recieves. Doesn't matter if a Mac or Windows machine sends the mail.
Any help appreciated as 50% of my attachments are coming through in this format. V frustrating!

Are you sure your RECEIVING email client isn't doing the conversion?

It wasn't actually the email client at the other end, but rather a third-party photo app on my iPad - Photogene.
I had been sending the screenshot as an email attachment from within Photogene. It seems that this app was converting it to the JPEG format. When I simply chose the image from the Camera Roll - directly in the Mail app - the PNG format was kept.

Mail incorrectly displaying images from MyFax

I use the service MyFax to receive faxes via email as PDFs with a gif image of the first page. I have two different MyFax accounts (for different businesses) with one sending the emails to a Yahoo account and the other to a Gmail account. I view all of my mail using Mac Mail, and both accounts have the same problem.
The first MyFax email that I view when I open Mac Mail correctly displays the gif image in the email which provides a preview of the fax showing only the first page. Then if I view another MyFax email, the gif image from the first email I viewed is still shown and then the gif for the email I'm currently viewing is shown and then the PDF at the bottom. From then on, every time I view an email from MyFax it shows the gif from the first MyFax email viewed. This is very annoying since the gif image takes up a whole page, and it's difficult to determine who the fax is actually from.
I have done some tests and confirmed that if I view the MyFax emails directly from yahoo or gmail on the web, the images are displayed correctly. Therefore, the problem lies with Mac Mail. Anyone else run into this problem or have a suggestion for fixing? Thanks!

AFAIK, there is nothing you can do about it other than reporting it to Apple — I have no idea whether it has been fixed in Mail 3.x:

MHTLM Emails in mac Mail

Our company emails a lot of reports out, the format they send out in is MHTML

Every single mail client has always worked fine with them, until now. Leopard and mac mail just displays an icon in the middle of the email instead of displaying the content of the MHTML Document automatically.
Does anyone know how I fix this?

I think GraphicConverter does recognize "MHT Archives" , but not sure what it can do with them.
