Hi guys and gals
so i'm running snow leopard on a mac pro 1,1 and so am not using icloud. (won't be upgrading OS until I can get the money together for a new mac pro
got the new iphone5 today, and am trying to get my email from my decade old @mac account on it... can't seem to get it to like the incoming mail server settings. they work perfectly fine in Mail on my desktop, but the phone rejects them.
any thoughts? much appreciated.

What do you see when you are in Mail and go to Windows (next to Help) and Connections Doctor?
Is this a new Mac that has never had Comcast email set up on it? Or is it an existing Mac that did work but Comcast is blocking port 25?

Essentially, you need to connect to smtp.comcast.net using port 587 with SSL on and password authentication.

Bold 9700 not starting up after email setup update 6.11. Need help with a mac!!!

I installed the official os 6 on my blackberry released by O2 over a month back. Yesterday, I was not able to configure any emails without downloaed the new version of the email setup 6.11. After the install, I was needed to reboot the phone. However, since then the phone is not switching on. That initial page comes with the Blackberry logo and that status bar (which shows completed) but never leaves that page!!
Someone please please help!!!!

I got mine to work by reinstalling OS 6 via the Blackberry Desktop software, but because I restored my backup as well as my old settings for email, my emails are still coming through provided I don't change my passwords as I can't get into settings without being asked to update as well. It means I won't be able to get my exchange emails as we always have to change/verify passwords periodically. The weirdest thing is that I no longer have maps and password keeper....

E75 email setup problems with 210.12.15

Corporate email and gmail have worked fine for a year, but after 210.12.15 upgrade started first to have synch problems. After shutting of the E75 it now loses email setup information and just keeps asking passwords. I have tried resetting to factory defaults and restoring phone data, but still not able to sync email. Trying to setup email from scratch also gives error message in the beginning and is not able to connect to the server. 210.12.15 included changes to the email software, so it is the obvious candidate, but I haven't seen any other people with the same problem?

after repairof keyboard, E75/ FW 210.12.15 was installed. I've not only problems connecting to my home WIFI network for checking mail (MAC filtered and with WEP key), I also can't connect to Internet thru this WIFI network. Checked with another open WIFI network and did not succeed either.
I've indeed noticed changing some settings were not stored.
Aonther thread mentions FAT of memory card corrupted, letting E75 reboot spontanuously. Formatted my microSD card. Still rebooting unexpectedly.
I find it strange this version is not on official Nokia support site.
Hope we can find solution.

N8 imap email setup

How to make subfolders under in-box on a N8. Further, how to autosort incoming email to these subfolders. I have two email accounts. The work email set up under exchange got copied to the phone with subfolders, so this is a question concerning my private email setup. I use a mac at home, and it might be that the subfolder structure would have been copied to the phone if I had connected to an outlook account.

I guess there is no solution at the moment (please prove me wrong...). It seems that parts of the old Nokia email client are missing in the new N8 client. As far I understand the problem this was planed as a "feature" of the new client, because the client try to recognice folders by itself.
How ever - unfortunatly this automatic is in fact it is a big drawback because the function to subscribe folder is now missing and implementation of the search function is realy poor implemeted.
This means if a IMAP folder is any where else then in the root tree the client is not able to find it and in the moment there is no way to set the path manualy - as it was possible with the client.
This means e.g. for german T-Online/T-Mobile customers that the client will not work for them with folders until Nokia supply a fix.
I feel that Nokia should change that realy fast - because T-Mobile is this is germans mayor mobile network operator and I'm onestly speeking realy disapointed about fact that they come out with a new email client that is not compartibel with a mayor network operator.

ICloud email setup bugs

I have seen two symtopms for what appear to be the same core bug with iCloud email setup. Possibly related to having a legacy .mac/.me account
When I attempt to setup an iCloud account it won't allow email to be enabled, throwing the error:
Mail can't be enabled at this time.
Wait a momnet and then try turning on Mail again.
I can sort of work around this by going into Mail and then adding the email account diretly from Mail Preferences. However any attempt to change the settings for this account also results in an error:
Invalid Incomming Mail Server
The "Incomming Mail Server' field can not be empty.
There is no work around for this. The filed is auto populated based on being an iCloud account and is not editable. I believe that the first bug may be related to this this, that proper configuraiton of iCould email is just broken.
Hopefully there will be a fix soon, but for the time being you can at least get at your .mac/.me/iCloud email by adding the accout directly in Mail app. Unfortunatly you can't make any changes to the settings, such as storage options etc.

BTW I am already signed with my apple id and all else is switched on and syncing fine. The probles only occurs when I try and "turn on" mail.

Email Setup Upgrade Quandry

I use a Blackberry Bold 9700, my carrier is T-Mobile, I am currently on BB OS6, and a Mac user using Desktop Manager Software 2.1.0
I have a quandry in that I basically currently have no way to manage/maintain my email accounts.
T-Mobile no longer gives Blackberry users access to Blackberry via a BIS website. I was told that this change was due to "security concerns" and it happened sometime in mid-June. They assured me that everything could be done through the phone. OK, so can't access BB email online anymore.
I go to my email setup on my Bold and it tells me that there are upgrades available for my device. I do this and it BRICKS my phone. I have the exact same problem described in this thread and it takes me 2.5 hours to bring my phone back to life. So now if I go to Email Setup, I'm still getting that message that it wants to upgrade but obviously given what happened last time I am retisent to do so until I find a real resolution (that thread is marked Resolved but I didn't see a real fix for this problem and in fact people are still posting about having the problem with the upgrade).
I literally do not know what to do. I have no way of maintaining my email accounts on my phone right now. What if something happens where I need to re-send my service books?
I'm hoping for real solutions to this problem. Or if there is a way to speak via phone to a RIM technical support person that would be helpful information as well. This problem is large enough that it's driving me away from being a Blackberry user. Thanks in advance for any help.

it could be the software as i had that same problem, but needed to exchange the phone because of other problems in addition to that.you may need to set up BES if you haven't already.

ICloud OS X email setup issue

Hi need some help with an iCloud email setup issue that doesn’t seem to have been covered by other posts or the Apple help factsheets.
Used my old mac.com Apple ID to set up an iCloud account which now shows as having my iMac as a linked device. To use iCloud Mail was prompted to create a new email address which I could do by turning on Mail in iCloud settings.
I signed into iCloud via my iMac and having deselected default options to use iCloud for Contacts etc arrived at the account page which has the various options on the RHS and my mac.com ID info on the left.
Ticked the Mail option on the RHS was asked to “choose an iCloud email address” underneath the box where you enter the chosen email address was a note saying “you cannot change your email address after creating it”. When I tried to set up the new iCloud email address got a prompt saying “you cannot change your email address after creating it”.
Help!

You need to know Comcast's settings for incoming and outgoing server when setting up your OSX Mail app. The info should be somewhere on Comcast's help web page.

thanks. I was reading some of the other postings that I see on this page and got that impression. Not sure what IMAP is but I'll keep reading and see if I can figure it out. I saw something that said a Mac.com email was IMAP so maybe I need to start using that instead of my Charter acct. I know my work is an exchange account. I have an Iphone, Mac and Ipad and need to start figuring out how all these work together and get more educated on this. Thanks for your time.

Email Setup Application Does Not Work After Update

I seem to be having the same problem as others with the email setup application.
When I updated my Blackberry to the new OS6, I went to my email setup and it said "looking for updates"
It finds a new update from my already installed email setup app 6.0.0 to the new 6.11.0419.0755.
When I click "download" it says replace existing version? I click "yes"
The it says: "com.rim.bis.client" contains a different version of module "net_rim_bis_client" which is also used by email setup application. If you proceed, "email setup application" may cease to function properly. proceed?
If I click "yes proceed" it crashes my blackberry and it will not reboot and I have to do a complete hard reboot, wipe the device and reload everything from my backup on blackberry desktop.
If I click "no" not to proceed, I cannot open the email setup application.
I have tried downgrading to version 5 of the OS, I have rebooted with a battery pull, crashed my blackberry twice and spent hours reloading all my applications and systems. I am at the end of my rope, and I don't know what else to do?!
If there was a way to turn off the automatic search for updates on my device under the setup and email settings, i think I would be able to set it up in the older version 6.0.0

yep same problem here
i had this problem and got a replacement handset.
i have had to do an update and got the same issue yet again.
The funny thing is, is when i got my new handset i had to run the email setup application and it worked fine.
now its failed and i have to boot in safe mode and wipe etc.
Will someone sort this out???!! O2, Blackberry whoever. Shambles!

How do i set up mailboxes to organize my emails in my iphone5?

The mailboxes that appear are Inbox, VIP, Sent and Trash. Isn't there a way for me to create my own mailboxes to organize emails on the iphone5 just as I do on my computer? How do I do it?

Sorry to hear you are having a similar problem. Last night I went to the tool bar at the top of iphoto, clicked on "File", then clicked "Browse Backups" in the drop down menu.    I have an external hard drive that is set up to Time Machine.   The Browse Backups opened the iphoto pages in the Time Machine. I selected a date one day ahead of the day I performed the now infamous update, and it showed my iphoto library as it had existed that day.   I then clicked "Restore Library" at the bottom right corner of the Time Machine screen.   Roughly 2 hours later my iphoto was back to normal.   When I opened iphoto there was a message saying I need to upgrade my program to be compatible with the new version of iphoto(version 9.2.1). I clicked "Upgrade" and within seconds it had done whatever upgrading it needed to do.
The only glitch in the restoration was that it restored the library as it appeared last week, so I no longer had photos I had imported this past weekend.   I simply went back to the Browse Backups in the drop down menu, when Time Machine opened I selected the page showing my pictures from this weekend and again said to Restore Library.   Roughly 45 minutes later the library was restored including the most recent photos.
I am now a happy camper.
I don't know if any of this will be of help to you because your email says you are having trouble with photos imported after the upgrade was performed.   Have you had any pop up notices when you first open iphoto, that tell you you need an upgrade to be compatible with the new iphoto?     If so have you clicked "upgrade"?
Good luck Liz, if you have Time Machine running as a back up to your library, maybe you wil be able to get help there, by following my instructions above.   Otherwise,   good luck with your investigations.   I'd be interested in hearing how you make out.

I'm new here and I've searched your posts looking for a solution to my problem but nothing seems to work.

All went well except for the fact that I lost the email setup icon on my phone.
I tried using this link http://www.mobileemail.vodafone.pt/ but they tell me I have to use my phone to do it. When I try it using my phone it won't let me and I receive a message telling me that I need to contact my network provider.
After this I tried a security wipe. Nothing.
Today I tried installing facebook and got this message "Download Failed 907 Invalid COD"

Given that, you need to talk to your mobile service provider...it is their network that your BB must attach to, and for some reason it is not doing so. But, since it is their network, you need their formal support to resolve this.

Just read "Best of Macworld" article "How to disable Java on your Mac," in email dated 2/25/13. I run OS 10.4.11 and Java 1.5.0_19. Do I remove/isolate the same way? Will the effects of removal/isolation the same as described in the article?

Hello, if you're talking about disabling Java in say Safari...
Safari>Preferences>Security>uncheck/Disable Java in your Browser settings, not JavaScript.
