Mac mini 2010 upgrade to core 2 duo T9900

I have a plan to upgrade my MAC mini mid 2010 to core 2 duo T9900 or core 2 quad, but I don't is it compatible with my MINI model or not. Anyone who know please give me some advice about that, thank you

Cannot be done.  It has a custom designed motherboard with processor
soldered to it.

  • Is Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 compatible with Mac Mini 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo

Hello, I’m using Mac Mini 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo with Mac OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  When I try to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 I receive this error message:  “Some errors occurred during installation. Adobe  Elements 11 can be installed on 64-bit systems only.”  Here is the question: is Photoshop Elements 11 compatible with my computer and operating system? I guess my computer runs at 32-bit. Why do I receive that error message when I try to instal the Trial version of the software? I have read that Photoshop Elements 11 is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Thank you.

    On prodesigntools.com
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-11-premiere-elements-11-are-out-pse-pre.html
they say Photoshop Elements 11 running native in 32-bit:
Photoshop & Premiere Elements 11 will run well on 32-bit or 64-bit systems, and are designed for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Mac OS v10.6 through v10.8 (see the full system requirements for PSE 11 on Windows/Mac; and PRE 11 on Windows/Mac).
Premiere Elements 11 comes with a native 64-bit version for higher performance – in other words, the PRE Editor now runs native on both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.
Photoshop Elements 11 continues as before, running native in 32-bit and compatibly on 64-bit systems.

  • Powerbook 1.33GHZ vs Mac Mini 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo

    I'm running a Powerbook 12 1.33 GHZ 768MB RAM with Logic (Express) 7.1
and can't afford to upgrade to Power Mac G5. Anyone any ideas on the noticeable differences in performance I should get upgrading.
I also have an Apple 17" LCD display so I don't want/need an iMac.
I use Plat'Verb sparingly and have around 6 inst' plug-ins and 6 audio tracks with FX. Never more than around 16 tracks in total. Because of a lot of midi dat on Ins' tracks I sometimes get error messages but can freeze tracks to cope. I run my tracks of a 7200rpm external firewire drive and use M-Audio USB MobilePre for audio in.
Money is tight but could stretch to 1.66GHZ with 2MB RAM MacMini.
Any comments please. (I'm posting this here rather than Logic Express disc' as there seem to be more Mac mini users here. I willalso be upgrading to 'Pro' soon).
    Powerbook 12 1.33GHZ   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   768MB RAM

There is not a whole lot of difference between the DC mini and a single or dual G5. Yes, it's measurable, but I wouldn't be happy if I spent the cash difference.
The difference between your powerbook and a DC mini, however, is pretty amazing. I just sold my powerbook in an online auction (and for $800, so you may want to consider selling yours if you truly seek to upgrade), and I would be quite happy to give up portability for the mini's massive speed boost and digital inputs.
I did a quick side-by-side with the DC and G4 mini running garageband and it looks like the DC is every bit of the 4x faster that Apple is claiming. It also appears that running the node application will boost performance even more on duos, so you may find that the gap becomes even wider once they fine-tune logic a little more.

  • Crashed Twice!! 10.6.4.: Mac Mini 2.26 Intel Core Duo

My computer has crashed twice in the past week, showing the same symptoms right before crashing. Both times, a system install off of the DVD fixed the problem. However, with it repeating itself again so soon, I feel a larger fix is necessary.
Both times, I first noticed that the clock was off by several hours and minutes, even though I use "Set Date & Time Automatically." Next thing I notice is that Apps aren't launching. When I go to restart, the Mini either freezes on the grey apple with spinning (the most recent time) or spinning, with alternating shades of blue screens staying up for 10 seconds or so (i.e. dark blue, light blue, dark blue, etc.).
The clock thing made me think virus, although I have never encountered a virus since using OSX. I've always thought OSX to be impervious. Nevertheless, I purchased Norton Anti-Virus and am running it now. (Looks like it's going to be a while.)
Any other suggestions for preventing another such crash a week from now?
    Thanks in advance.

Okay, ran the Hardware Test and everything passed. Since my initial post, this has happened twice and is about to happen again. Note, this is a "soft" crash in the the computer continues to work for a short time after the first symptom, which is the clock jumping ahead 7 hours, or so. Once I've noticed that, I know that the next time I go to restart the computer, it will be unable to launch the OS.
As follows is a portion of the log, which I hope points to a solution. Note that the ACTUAL time the console was opened was around 10:30pm. Even as I write this, the actual time is 11:07pm, so we know the line item stamped 11:27:56 is POST-crash.
Apologies for probably copy and pasted more than necessary, but better too much than too little.

Do I need to upgrade to 10.5.xx? Will this platform suport 10.6.xx? If 10.6 will work do I need to install 10.5 first?
    Thanks...

Hi. Your computer can be upgraded to either Leopard 10.5 or Snow Leopard 10.6. 10.6 will be much easier to find and will be less expensive. Leopard is not required prior to upgrading to Snow Leopard.

  • Upgrade Mac Mini 2010 to SSD, have you tried this?

Hi all, and this is my first discussion thread.
I'm currently running my Mac Mini 2010 with a SATA Male to Female cable and ext. SATA power on a WD VelociRaptor 150GB.
The solution isn't really elegant i feel and it generates alot of heat from the drive and some extra noise when loading heavy applications eg. parallels desktop.
I've even up the ram to the max 8GB as well and everything seems zippy so far.
Earlier there are alot of talk about SSDs requiring TRIM on the operating system and as what we know Mac OS X Leopard
does not have integrated TRIM support.
So i'm basically looking at SSD candidates that will:
    - run the power provided by the Mac Mini's (5V) integrated PSU
    - don't require TRIM support to manage garbage collection on the hardware level.
So far, i've only 2 candidates:
    - Crucial RealSSD
    - Kingston V100+
Which one will you shell out for and why?
    Additional question:
    - If i remove the superdrive on my mac mini, can i get a external USB superdrive? is there such a thing at all?

theres no reason why it should not work, plug in the HDMI cable, select the Source input on LCD(HDMI 1/2), if still no picture on the Mini open System Pref>Display : Resolution> it should show 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p and other lower resolutions, just select 1080p and to your right select 60hz. Hope this helps.

  • Mac mini 2010 very slow after update to Mavericks

My mac mini 2010 (2.4 Ghz, 8GB ram) is running really very slow after updating to Mavericks.
Clearly OneDrive is a pain... but had it running on ML as well, and though it is a memory and CPU hog, it never really slowed down the system.

  • Mac Mini 2010 and Windows 7

    Hello All,
I searched the forums to see if my question had already been answered, but I couldn't find it. My apologies in advance if this, in fact, is solved. I am having some issues with my installation of Windows 7 on my Mac Mini 2010 model 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo. I used boot camp to create a partition, installed windows 7 64 bit from a copy that I bought from school, and it did install.
    Problem 1
The problem that I am having is that the operating system states that 4GB of RAM is available and 3.5GB is usable. I currently have 8GB installed(Not factory, I purchased third party) and it reads fine in Mac OS X. Does anyone else have this problem or a similar one?
    Problem 2
The screen will not expand fully in Windows 7. I have an ASUS 21.5in HD screen that will display up to 1080p connected to the HDMI connection on my mac. When I boot up, the screen will display in a smaller size(about 3/4 the size of the screen) while the rest of the screen is black.
    What have I tried?
I have updated to the latest boot camp package on the Apple website to make sure I have the latest drivers for my NVIDIA GeForce 320M card.
I have tried playing with the resolution in Windows 7 to display the maximum possible resolution
I have made sure to install all Windows 7 updates.
    Problem 3
I don't have full access to the monitor menu. When I touch the menu button, I can only change the brightness, sharpness, and that is it. I can't do anything about expanding the screen, moving the screen left or right, etc.(If I did have these options, then problem #2 would be solved).
    Nothing has worked.
    What do I think...
I am thinking that it has something do with the fact that I am running the screen from the HDMI, although I don't really know why. It could also be the monitor. I could try to purchase the Mini Display Port adapter to see if that offers a better resolution, more freedom with my monitor, etc. This would fix problem 2 and 3. I did order a 24" Apple Cinema Display which will be here in a few days. If everything works with that, then I guess I wouldn't have a problem anymore, but I think it should still work with my existing monitor.
As for the first problem, I am at a loss. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks for reading.

I completely agree with your assessment for Problem #1, but here we have it.
I will try re-installing and will also double check with the drivers for the monitor. Thanks for the advice. If all else fails, I will just use parallels.

Two upgrades are included in the update - Lion Recovery Update and Mac OSX Update. Should these be installed separately of together as they are downloaded? Am I doing something wrong? The machine has been continuously updated since OSX Lion came out so I am not lacking currency in the OS prior to this update.

@the hatter: First of all: thanks for your assistance !
    What I have is: the MacPro 1.1 (2006)  and a MacBookPro (2009).
    Inside the MacPro:
    (1) Start Disc
    (2) 2nd Startdisk backed up by SuperDuper from (1) (without Parallels disk)
    (3) Media (backup on TimeCapsule)
    (4) TM backup of (1) without Parallels
(5): USB-Cradle with my last SnowLeo system-hard disk.
All tests to boot failed with: disk (1) Recovery HD (it is there!) , disk (2), external disk (5), Lion Install DVD , Recovery HD from a USB-Stick (created on my MBP).
All tests ended with a grey blank screen :-(
I'm German, so my English has limits.  What do you mean with:
    1. "Pull the bump system drive " ? Should I open my mac and put the old start disk aside ?
(by the way: I have a backup-drive inside the MacPro from this start disk.)
    2. "Do a clean install of OS". On which disk ? A new one ?
    3. "Put the old working system in FW case". ? FW case ? FW=FireWire ? case? I'm sorry, I do not understand what you mean.
    4. "Update and install". What has to be updated ? The new installed Lion ?
    5. "Import / Migrate with Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant" ? Can't I migrate from "2nd StartDisk" ?
    6. "I am sure there is an uninstaller for Parallels 7 though not whether it can run from another system." I cannot use the uninstaller, as I am not able to boot the Mac :-(
    7. The first OS on the MacPro was 10.4.6 (Tiger) I had Leo, SnowLeo and now Lion. So I believe it will be the moment to build a new clean Lion system.

  • Mac Mini 2010 Hardware Test w/ Lion

I have a mac mini 2010 that came with snow leopard installed. I recently upgraded to Lion, however I need to do the Apple hardware test. When I attempt to load the hardware test by holding down the D key when booting the Mac Mini the hardware test fails to load. What do I need to do to load the Hardware test?

How to run hardware diagnostics for an Intel Mac
Boot from your original OS X Installer Disc One that came with your computer.  After the chime press and hold down the "D" key until the diagnostic screen appears.  Run the extended tests for a minimum of two or three hours.  If any error messages appear note them down as you will need to report them to the service tech when you take the computer in for repair.
    Some "common" error indicators:
    SNS - sensor error
    MEM - memory error
HDD - hard disk drive error
    MOT - fan error
