Mac Mini 2012 - Windows 8 Not Supported??

Hi all,
I have a late 2012 Mac Mini, which seems to support Windows 8 as far as I can tell.  However, when I go to the boot camp assistant, it says, "This mac can only run Windows 7."  What's going on?
Does anyone else have this issue?
Thanks

I have the same problem.  I have the latest OSX version which now supports Windows 8 but on my late 2012 Mac mini I get the same message.  "Computer can only run Windows 7".   Is this because I'm using a wireless keyboard?  What gives?

    Hi guys
I've tryed everything discussed here, and on the intel support community.
I have the latest intel hd graphics 4000 driver, installed with the intel driver update utility.
My mac mini is plugged to my tv by the hdmi cable (alredy tryed another cable to be sure).
Video goes through hdmi as well as it's supposed to. But the tv doesn't appear in the playback devices list. I have only the cirrus logic speaker/headphones and spdif listed.
My tv has always worked with any other laptop. I've already installed all the bootcamp drivers...
I don't know what else i can do
Pls help me...i'm struggling in this problem from 2 weeks

    Hi and thanks to all
I have the i5 model with the intel hd graphics 4000.
And in this windows that you posted i've only speakers, headphones and spdif listed.
I've already tryed to show disabled and unplugged device but nothing appears.
    Any other suggestion?
Ps. I forgot to mention that i ve even tried plugging the Mac mini to another Samsung TV (that works with other laptops) and still the same.
Everything works fine but the HDMI audio...

  • Mac Mini: Quartz Extreme not supported?

I have a Mac mini (late 2008) 2.0Ghz with an Intel GMA950. MB139LL/A -- It says Quartz Extreme is not supported. Is that right? This machine is new and shipped with Leopard. Do the Mac minis really not support Quartz Extreme?

I'm not sure which "Samsung SyncMaster 940" you have, but it looks like the technology in that monitor may be about 5 years old.
My guess is that monitors that have been released more recently will have better support.
Personally, I like to buy monitors from stores with good return policies, because you never know what you might not like about a monitor until you try it. Depending on where you live, Costco can be a good place to buy monitors, as they have probably the best return policy in the business. (90 days on TVs, but no time limit on monitors -- the last time I checked.)

  • Mac Mini 2014 does not support 4K SST at 60hz displays

Many questions on this - bottom line, 2014 Mini hardware will only drive 4K at 30hz .. not the most desirable solution.
Does Yosemite 10.10.3 now enable Mac Mini 2014 to drive 4K SST displays at 60z?  Answer = NO.

    That is correct

  • Airdrop can't not find my Mac mini 2012

I have an iPad mini retina, an iPhone 5 and a Macbook air 13 2013. They can Airdrop between each other in the three.
I also have a Mac mini 2012. However, neither the Macbook air nor the iOS devices can find my Mac mini. Also, my Mac mini can not find my other devices either.
I have read the thread which says Mac mini 2011 is not capable of using Airdrop. But mine is 2012.
The handoff works perfectly in my Mac mini 2012. I can switch apps between devices. I can answer my phone through the Mac mini too.  So I wonder why airdrop is not working.
    Anyone have the same issue?

    I have solved this problem.
If you add your Mac mini an SSD and you use some method to enable the trim, like Trim Enabler, you should use the reverse action of the app provided or command your use. Now airdrop will work.
    Then enable trim again.
If you believe above is not your reason, try below command in the terminal.
    sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
    sudo kextcache -system-caches
    Then reboot your computer.

  • How to get two vga monitors on a mac mini 2012

    Hi Guys,
please forgive any ignorance that follows. I am a new convert from a PC and have bought a Mac Mini 2012. I want to be able to use a monitor that I can see my music programme but run a second monitor that will allow me to display visuals from a VJ programme. Here is my journey.
I bought the mac mini and the thunderbolt to vga adapter. Generic VGA monitor - worked a treat. I then wanted to run a second generic vga monitor form the hdmi port. After a lot research I chose an adapter for £15 that one of the reviews said worked perfectly for a mac mini and VGA. Bought it form Amazon. Didn't work - no signal etc - refund. Then I thought I would buy a monitor / DVD with a HDMI cable and do hdmi to hdmi and use that as the music monitor and use the thunderbolt port for the projector and VJ programme. Bought one from Asda. Plugged in great picture etc worked a treat but got a ground hum from new HDMI monitor. More research and realised that ground hum was a nightmare. HDMI monitor back and refund.
It is doing my head in.
I will be a happier man if someone could say that they have a mac mini 2012 and they bought this HDMI VGA converter and use a generic vga monitor and it works a treat. There is only so much stuff I can return before my lick runs out.
    I don't think I'm asking for much.
Any help would be gratefully received.
    Cheers Pete

Sorry, but I can not safely suggest a digital HDMI to analog VGA converter or if any would even work with the Mac Mini because I do not have and have not personally tested any.
I can only suggest that instead of dropping more money into adapters or an HDMI to VGA converter, that perhaps' you should consider replacing one if not both with a more modern digital monitor that support either HDMI and/or DVI.

  • Migration Assistant: Problems transferring data from PC (XP SP3) to new Mac Pro 2012 - can not get Migration Assistant to work as PC will not display verfify passcode

Migration Assistant: Problems transferring data from PC (XP SP3) to new Mac Pro 2012 - can not get Migration Assistant to work as PC will not display verfify passcode
Hello, I am having problems migrating data from my old PC running XP (SP3) to my new Mac Pro 2012 using the Migration Assistant.
    - I downloaded and installed the Windows Migration Assistant from Apple
    - My Mac recognized PC and displays passcode
    - The sasscode does not show / display on my PC
    - My Mac is then stuck in "authenticating" loop and the PC is stuck "waiting for Mac to connect."
    - Both computers are connected on same network (have connected PC on WIFI and using ethernet to Reuter)
I have looked on support site and only response I saw says to reinstall Windows Migration Assistant (which I have done)
Any ideas?  If cant get this to workare there instructions for manually bring across relevant data eg itunes music and apps, photos, picasa data etc?

Why not turn off the Windows firewall and uninstall any other firewall software you have installed?
If you are using a Norton product uninstall it and discard it. To fully unistall most Norton products you have to go to the Norton website and download a soecial program to completely get rid of it. The normal uninstall feature built into the program will not remove all of it.

  • New Mac Mini 2012 - HDMI dolby surround

    Hi,
I returned my Mac Mini 2011 because of the poor (lack of) dolby surround support outside of Apple iTunes.
I am very interested to know if somebody can confirm the new Mac Mini 2012 has better dolby surround support. I would like to connect the Mac Mini to my dolby surround receiver with plug and play support in Mac OS X Mountain Lion. And of course compatibility with media software (e.g. VLC or other players).
    Thanks for your comments!

The Mini will pass through Dolby and DTS encoded tracks to
any device which can decode it with XBMC, PLEX, VLC,
    MplayerX, etc.
The signals can be passed through via HDMI or optically.
The proper set up is required in the Audio Midi Setup utility
and in the app.  If you are expecting decoding within the
Mini to multichannel PCM, I don not believe any apps are available
to do that (or I am just not aware of them).
If your are expecting the higher level encodings (DTS-MA or Dolby
True HD), at least up to the 2011 models, they do not contain the
required "protected audio path" to support those formats.

  • Is it right to mix sizes of memory modules in a mac mini 2012? for example 2Gb 8Gb?

Is it right to mix sizes of memory modules in a mac mini 2012? for example 2Gb 8Gb?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can do that without any problem, always that the total amount of memory is less than the maximum memory your Mac mini supports. A Late 2012 Mac mini supports 16 GB of memory, and you can find in this site the steps to install more memory > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4432?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#1

  • I want to use a mac mini as a server supporting storage. Can I pair my macair to it for when I need to perform updates and maintenance ?

I want to use a mac mini as a server supporting storage. I have other devices such as an iMac and iPad that will access information from the server. I do not want to purchase a monitor and keyboard as the unit will sit in a cupboard out of sight. Can I pair my macair to it for when I need to perform updates and maintenance ?

I have a 2010 Mac Mini running Yosemite and Server which I use
    as a headless home server.
I have is set up to allow screen sharing and can connect to it and
control it with my iMac, Macbook Pro, iPhone, and a 2011 Mini Server
that I use as an HTPC.
You can check this out for all the Yosemite Server capabilities:
    https://help.apple.com/advancedserveradmin/mac/4.0/
I have iTunes Home Sharing set up on it and have my entire iTunes
library on it.  I can then use any of my Macs to play Movies or Songs
from it and only keep locally a select subset of that on my individual
    devices.
Rather than and update server, I utilize Server's Caching Service.  The caching
server will duplicate any update download (system or MacApp Store purchases)
any time a device that is connected to my network down loads one.  The update will
then be stored locally and all other devices will download the update from it which
can be faster than from Apple directly.  This has the advantage of only having to download
once with limited bandwidth internet connections.  There is also an Update Server service
available, but it is some what more involved in setting up.  However, it will download
    and store all available updates.
There is another thing as well if you do not care for syncing things like Contacts, Calendar, etc.
to iCloud, you can set Server up to sync these items across devices locally.

  • Dual Monitors on Mac Mini Late 2014 not working on Dell S2340Lc

    Hey guys,
Got a mac mini and using it mainly for work. Working for an ISP and no one has used macs and I've opted to be the poor sucker that gets to deal with old people that don't know how to mac very goodly.
I have two Dell S2340Lc monitors. I have one connected up via HDMI and that works perfectly fine. I turned off the mac, I plugged in Monitor 2 with a MiniDP/Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter, powered on the mac and whilst it was booting, it had the Apple logo and the loading bar on the Dell display plugged in to the thunderbolt to hdmi adapter and then once it loaded up the log in screen, it went to the HDMI display. I logged in and in the displays section, the monitor plugged in to the thunderbolt to hdmi adapter isn't being detected, however I can plug it in to a Samsung 55 Inch Smart TV and it works just fine. I can set up dual monitors between the TV and the monitor in HDMI, but the Dell S2340Lc will only work with a HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the mac mini and will not work through the thunderbolt to hdmi adapter. On the display it just says that there is no signal coming from the computer.
Just wondering if any of you apple gurus had any ideas as to why this isn't working?
    Thanks!

    What if you switch monitors?
What happens if yo only have the Thunderbolt>HDMI>Dell monitor connected?

  • New mac mini system will not recognize wireless keyboard and trackpad.

My brand new mac mini system will not initialize properly.  The return on the track pad are not being recognized, although scrolling is. Any others find this?  Support could not figure this out on the phone.  They sent me out to get new batteries and now they are closed.  Batteries have been changed and still nothing.

My Mac MINI gave me one heck of a time trying to get it  to recognize my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. both Apple brand.
I finally had to connect an old USB mouse and keyboard to get the silly thing to connect.
    Don't forget to repair permissions.
I also had to shut the computer down and start it back up a couple of times before it would connect.  I think it has to do with the new Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology.
I also turned off my Bluetooth devices and turned them on again, then I pulled the batteries out a couple of times and tried again and again.
I also put in new battries even thiough the ones I replaced were about a week old.
Finally, the MINI recognised the mouse and keyboard.
I wish I could tell you which thing did the trick.
