Can I install an Apple magic mouse and magic trackpad with my Mac Mini (early 2009) using OS X Lion ?  Anybody have this set-up ?  Any issues with having both active bluetooth devices ?  I'm currently using the magic mouse and want to add the trackpad when I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion.

It will see each device as a unique BT device and there should be no issues pairing both. I do not have a M Trackpad, but as an experiment, I paired two Magic Mouses. No issues.

  • Mac Mini and Bluetooth Recent Problems (Mighty Mouse, Wireless Keyboard)

    Hello there,
I have an issue with my Mac Mini.
We had a storm here recently, so I switched my Mac off. After that, I turned it on, but to my surprise my Wireless Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keybord do not function any more. The green dot under the mouse nad keyboard flashes for a few seconds and turns off. I tried to plug my regular mouse and keyboard but it seems the do not work too. Any solutions?

i dont know if you have another mac around but have you tried repairing the disk by putting it into Target disk mode and hooking up another mac to it? if nothing else, try putting the install CD/DVD and boot from there by holding down "c" as it boots. if that works then it may just be a bad BT card. if it doesnt work then you may have bad usb ports. i hope you have applecare!
a tip for bluetooth HIDs, spread them apart. you will experience problems on occasion where their signals get crossed and they fail to sync right.
by the way, if you went the extra mile to turn off your mac because you were concerned about it, then why didnt you just unplug it from the outlet?

  • Mac Mini and Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse

I have a Mac Mini as a server. I've decided to do a clean install of Mountain Lion and Mountain Lion Server. I don't have any wired keyboard or mouse and am having trouble getting the Mac Mini to see the keyboard and mouse. I can buy cheap wired ones but I'd like to use my bluetooth ones if at all possible. Can anyone offer some tips for doing this successfully? I need a method that assumes I have a Mac Mini with a clean, formated disk and a bootable flash drive with the latest copy of Mac OS X Mountain Lion.

I did unpair the mouse. The keyboard has only ever beenpaired with the Mac Mini. Today I was finally able to get both devices talking with the Mac Mini, but I really don't know how I did this. I just played with turning them on and off. If the Mac Mini has been newly formatted (as I finally managed to you), is the pairing information retained?
I'm thinking there is more to this issue than just bluetooth pairing.
Thanks for your quick reply. (I'm still redownloading Mountain Lion from the Apple store and making a new bootable flash drive as the one I had won't let me install. Not sure why.)
(If the issue is just one of pairing it would appear I don't need a wired mouse and keyboard.)

  • HT1338 I bought a new Mac Mini and tried to pair my keyboard with the Mac Mini. They will not pair via Bluetooth. What is wrong?

I have recently bought a Mac Mini and tried to pair the new apple wireless keyboard with the Mac but after trying 6 times no luck. What can I do about this?

    try this method:
You need at least a USB mouse. If you don't get any option to pair a keyboard, click through the setup until you get to the "Create Your Computer Account" screen, right click in any of the text fields and select Substitutions --> Show Substitutions.  From there click on text preferences.  The preferences pane will popup and from there you can just click the back button (next to show all) to get to the full preferences menu.  Next click on keyboard, then select setup bluetooth keyboard and you're golden.

  • I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A MAC MINI WITH BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD AND ON SCREEN ALL IM GETTING IS A PIC SHOWING TO SWITCH ON KEYBOARD AND ANOTHER THAT SHOWS A SWITCH ON COMPUTER. I CANT SEE A SWITCH ON THE MINI.

I have just bought a mac mini and am trying to set up. The unit is asking me to swith on bluetooth keyboard via pic 1 then pic 2 shows another switch.
I can't see this switch. can anyone help before i launch this thing out the window!

    Symptoms
When using Setup Assistant to configure your Mac mini or iMac for the first time, the Bluetooth keyboard may have difficulty pairing.
    Resolution
Use a wired keyboard to configure the Mac mini or iMac with the Setup Assistant. If a wired keyboard is not available, follow these steps:
Press and hold the Power button until the computer turns off.
Press the Power button to start the computer.
When a language selection appears, press and hold the power key on the Bluetooth keyboard so that the green light is flashing (discoverable mode).
Use the mouse to click the language you would like.
A code should appear on the screen. Enter the code on the Bluetooth keyboard and press Return. Note: No visible feedback appears on the screen while you enter the code.
The computer and the wireless keyboard should now be paired.

  • New mac mini and wireless keyboard

how do I set up a new mac mini and wireless keyboard at the same time?

Since the Mac Mini does not come with a Monitor, Keyboard or Mouse those are needed when setting up a Mac Mini. I don't know what brand wireless KB you have or if that even matters.
I have an Apple wireless keyboard (bluetooth), Apple magic trackpad (bluetooth), and Dell DVI monitor. When I initially booted my new Mac Mini, the screen showed it searching for bluetooth devices. It found the keyboard first and then a few seconds later, the mouse. So, I had all devices to finish setup of the Mini.

  • Can I use my apple wireless mouse and keyboard with my Mac Mini and Windows PC?

Hello, I recently dug up a windows PC computer for side projects, and I was able to get by using my wireless apple keyboard and mouse for my Mac mini, and then using a usb mouse for my PC, I want to eliminate the usb keyboard and mouse and just use the bluetooth keyboard. Both computers are usually on all the time, and the windows PC uses a bluetooth adapter. I can get my keyboard and mouse to work on both, but I have to sync them to whatever system I would like everytime I want to use it. Is there any solution that when I choose the Mac Mini my keyboard and mouse will work for the Mac mini, and when I choose my windows pc, the keyboard will only be used on windows without having to resync?

    To my knowledge, no.

I have Mac mini and I'm trying to listen to music through YouTube it works. But my problem is that instead of the music playing through the tv speakers it plays through the Mac box. ):

Are you using HDMI or an Apple Airplay Module to go to the TV Speakers?
If you are using an HDMI it's straight through output. The internal speakers are disabled.
If you are using an Airplay Module:
    - Go on iTunes
    - Locate the Airplay icon that has a TV with an up arrow icon much like your iPhone has for Bluetooth
    - Click on that and Airplay to ModuleName

  • I plan to purchase a Mac mini and then a new iPad.  Can I use the iPad as a monitor and keyboard for the Mac mini, either through the USB connection or thru Wi-Fi?

I plan to purchase a Mac mini and then a new iPad.  Can I use the iPad as a keyboard and screen for the Mac mini, using either the USB connector or Wi-Fi?

I'm sorry, I should have said thru Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi.  I want to use the mini as a base station and the iPad like a laptop that I can sync when I'm home and carry with me when I travel.  Is is possible to hook these 2 up - iPad/mini, through Bluetooth?  I understand I need to use a regular monitor/keyboard/mouse on the initial install.

  • Boot Mac Mini w/Bluetooth without Keyboard/Mouse attachted

    Hi,
I´m trying to boot a Mac Mini with Bluetooth without any Keyboard/Mouse attachted to it.
It doesn´t work. Every time the Mac stucks at looking for Bluetooth devices.
    Running 10.4.11
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot,
    seb

    already tried this one!
That would have been helpful to know from the beginning so we don't waste our time with things you've already tried. What else have you already tried to troubleshoot this situation?
Maybe you need to delete that preference file, as it's clearly not working correctly? This file is not in your own user's home folder, but in the root "Library" folder in this path:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Put that file in the Trash, restart, log back in, delete the trash, and uncheck the option again in the System Preferences. Does it stick now? Or have you tried that already too?

  • What does connecting iPad mini to my Mac Mini  through Bluetooth do

what does connecting iPad mini to my Mac Mini  through Bluetooth do

There is nothing else you can do as regards the Mac. Bluetooth between a Mac and an iOS device works only for tethering so you can share the iOS device's cell connection. Otherwise, Bluetooth in an iPad is for connecting to peripherals such as headsets, in-car systems, and keyboards.

  • Tablet with Mac mini with bluetooth?

    Hi,
I was going to use an iPad with my Mac mini using blue tooth but I learnt I would have to also use a blue tooth keyboard etc to use it.
Is there any other brand of tablet that I could connect to my Mac mini with bluetooth without using another blue tooth device?

I was going to use an iPad with my Mac mini using blue tooth but I learnt I would have to also use a blue tooth keyboard etc to use it.
This makes no sense. The use of a Bluetooth keyboard has nothing to do with the iPad. You may use either a USB keyboard or a Bluetooth keyboard. Period. The iPad connects to the computer by USB for syncing and updating. But just having an iPad connected does not limit you to a Bluetooth keyboard.
Is there any other brand of tablet that I could connect to my Mac mini with bluetooth without using another blue tooth device?
What did you want to do with the tablet that needs Bluetooth connectivity? Other than backing up my apps and syncing my iTunes library, my iPad is hardly ever connected to my Mac. It gets used independently of my computer through it's Wi-Fi connection. (Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Google Calendar Sync, etc.) One of the few apps I have that connect the iPad to the Mac is to turn the iPad into a large trackpad for the Mac. That uses a Wi-Fi connection, so still no need for Bluetooth. I admit, it would be nice to sync my iTunes library over Bluetooth, similar to my Windows Mobile phone to my PC, but what do you need to do over Bluetooth?

  • Mac Mini and DVI to ADC adapter

I have an old Apple Cinema Display with an ADC port. I have the DVI to ADC adapter, which I have been using to connect to an old Power Mac which is on its last legs. I want to replace the Power Mac with a mac mini and connect it to the display from the HDMI-DVI cable (included) to the DVI-ADC adapter, and then connect on to the Display. The Apple sales representative (after laughing for a while, which I thought was fairly insensitive) said that I won't have audio with this setup, and I will have to get a whole new display. Is this true?

when you say "Mac flat screen LCD", do you mean this:
