Mac mini AV reciver no video signal

Hello, i have a problem with mac mini and AV reciver Cambridge audio Azur 650R.
Everything worked fine at least one year. After that my reciver has gone. My dealer took and repaired it. After that i connected my mac mini into same HDMI input(on AV reciver) and it shows only black screen, sometimes it shows very bad picture of my desktop (under one second) and than it shows only coloured blinking cubes. When i connect to that concrete HDMI input (on av reciver) different source (my laptop, blu-ray player, etc.). Everything works well.
But when i connect mac mini (different mac mini from my house) it shows as i describe higher, too.
When i connect via VNC on that mac mini. And i go to video settings, i see that mac mini detect this AV reciver and shows it as 650R.
Has anyone similiar issue? Or some advice how i could solve this issue?
Please, i am lost:(
Thank you
Daniel

Hi,
I also have just bought a brand new mac mini with OS X Lion Server pre-installed.
If I connect my mac mini HDMI to the Cambridge Audio 650R in Video 1 IN, and connect the 650R HDMI out to a Panasonic AE-4000, then I also see a black screen.
I also am at a loss as what to do about this, as the purpose of buying the mac mini is to act as a home theatre system.
Please help!
François

  • 2011 Mac Mini w/Intel HD3000 video signal loss on HDMI and Thunderbolt?

I've had this issue since I first purchased my Mac Mini back in August.  I also discussed this issue with a friend who just purchased a Mac Mini too, and he has the exact same problem.  When connected to my monitor via HDMI, the screen will flicker to green, go out, then come back on.  Sometimes I have to cycle my monitor input button before the screen returns.   Also, if I connect to my monitor via DVI to Thunderbolt adapter, the screen flickers to "snow", then cuts out intermittently. It's the same problem either way.  I'm connected to a new Asus VE276Q 27" monitor. I connect my Xbox and PC to the same display with no issues whatsoever. This is my first Mac product and I'm VERY frustrated with this problem. A firmware update was released a few months back regarding flickering when connected to an Apple Cinema display, but this had no effect on My machine. I've also verified the display refresh rate setting as well.  Anyone else out there having this problem?

I recently got the 2.3 GHz Mac Mini. I tried hooking it up to a Viewsonic VX2035 with the enclosed HDMI DVI converter. I get the same results as you. Nothing on the monitor. It says no analog signal detected. Then the monitor goes into sleep mode. I hooked it up to a  32" Westhinghouse HDTV using a HDMI cable and it works fine.

  • Is it possible to connect an external blue ray drive via USB with a mac mini to watch HD videos?

Is it possible to connect an external blue ray drive to a mac mini to watch HD videos? Iy yes, what additional software / hardware is necessary?

Did you even read the article you linked to?
    Here's a quote from it
"The video itself looked fine when it played properly, but it stopped and started constantly, and often displayed with huge, ugly artifacts. And at times, the app would freeze completely and require a force quit.
Just to make sure it wasn’t a problem with one Blu-ray disc, I tried some others. With Hot Tub Time Machine the results were much, much worse. It got a few seconds into the United Artists logo before the movie and completely froze playback. On several attempts. With David Cronenberg’s The Fly, playback was generally better—but the software played the ‘making of’ movie instead of the actual film. I thought there might have been a preference to help with the movie selection, but—wait for it—the Preferences item didn’t do anything when I selected it."
    Not very promising is it

I have tried with a wired USB keyboard and mouse using a single screen. Powered up with option pressed. No change.
    Reset SMC  no change

Run the Apple hardware test to see what it tells you. Run the extended test when prompted, which can take awhile.

  • Mac mini, isn't sending the signal to my LG flatron L204WS monitor

    Hi
Suddenly tonight my mac mini is not sending the signal to my LG flatron TV (it's worked fine for the past year).
The troubleshooting I have done so far with positive results is:
    1. installed the mac mini on a 32" tv using a DVI to HDMI cable - works fine
    2. installed the mac mini on a 32" tv using the existing VGA-VGA/DVI adapter (same configuration used on LG) - works fine.
    3. use the LG flatron to connect VGA-VGA with my laptop - works fine.
    ??????? any ideas?????
    thanks

    HI
Thanks for replying, in pure desperation I opened her up and blowed away the dust and tried it with the top off. Hey presto she booted up to the flatron no problems.
    thanks

  • Mac Mini to Component/S-Video based HDTV

Im thinking of getting a mac mini to connect to my TV. The TV i have only has component and s-video input. i read that the dvi-component converter that apple has is not good for display, only for movies and such. is there anyway i can get clear resolutions on the TV so that my TV can be the main moniter for my mac? IT doesnt have to be HD or anything, just clear enough for me to surf the web and use final cut and other apps.
    THanks

You are just going to have to try and decide for yourself if it is clear enough for your purposes. Your only option is S-Video because the mini can't output a component compatible signal.

  • Mac Mini 1st Generation no video

    Hi,
    I have the following problem:
I own a 2005 1st Generation Mac Mini (1.25Ghz 80GB 512MB). The problem is it won't show any video signal on my monitor which is connected via DVI and works perfect when connected to my other computer. When turning on the Mac Mini I can hear the startup chime and fan. The Indicator light on the front side is light up aswell and the optical drive is also working.
There is no system on the harddrive. I took it out and formatted with my macbook, selected "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" and "GUID Partition Table".
I tried to insert the OSX Leopard Install DVD but it the screen is still off (Standby) when I turn the Mac on.
    Summary:
The Mac Mini has a working:
    startup chime
    fan
    indicator light
    optical drive
    but
    no video
    no OS on the harddrive
    hope someone can help me.
    Thanks
    Ferdinand

    Try resetting the NVRAM
    About NVRAM and PRAM
Note that a Power PC Mac like your Mini will only start if the disk is formatted in Apple Partition Map. Also, it will only start with OSX 10.5.8 or earlier.

  • Mac Mini with DVI to video adapter REFUSES to display on TV!! Please help!!

I purchased an apple DVI to Video adapter - which says for Mac mini and power mac G5 on the package. However not matter what I do, I can't get a picture on my TV, I have tried on 2 TV's and I get nothing but blank screen on both, with occassional grey flicking.
I thought maybe the adapter was faulty so had it changed, the new one shows the exact same behaviour. I have started up in safe mode, with the TV connected and still nothing, I have reset the PRAM and still nothing. Trashed the windowserver plists - and still nothing!!
I have searched through the forums as much as I can and can't find any answers.
Someone please help me out and tell me what I'm doing wrong.
    Thanks very much.
    Naj

    Hi Thesserax,
Thanks for your reply, however I have already tried your suggestions - my tv's do not let me switch manually between PAL/NTSC, and I am definately on the correct channel.
I also tried connecting it to the TV and VNC'ing into it to try to change the resolution, however I although I see the correct CRT resolution opions i.e. 800x600 and 1024x768 only, I notice that I don't see any tv specific options such as overscan, and that the rates are stuck at 60Hz (NSTC) - I am in europe so the tv is PAL 50Hz and the adapter is also labelled PAL.
    Any other ideas, please?
    Thank you

  • New Mac Mini output to S-Video

I'm trying to output to S-Video using a new Mac Mini (2010).
If I use a Mini Display to DVI adapter and then the DVI to S-Video, will that work?
    Mini Display to DVI: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/A
    DVI to S-Video: http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9267G/A
Looks like it'll "work", but will it "WORK"?
    Thanks

Adapters won't work. MDP to DVI is digital only and S-Video needs 480i (analog).
You would need an expensive converter like http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=5280

  • Mac mini (late 2012) HDMI video going blank randomly in Yosemite 10.10.1; sometimes comes back on with snowy screen

Wow, this reminds me of what happened with Mavericks 10.9.0 until 10.9.3 and later were released and fixed this problem.
My monitor is a Dell S2440L connected to my Mac mini late 2012 via an HDMI cable.
The monitor goes blank randomly and sometimes a snowy screen like you would see when watching a UHF
channel on an old CRT TV shows up when the video comes back on. This happens while in the OS.
I also have power management problems again with computer not sleeping properly and my Magic Mouse
being able to wake up the computer despite "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer" being unchecked.
I also have Wake for network access, power nap and start up after power failure unchecked as well.
Computer sleep and display sleep are set to "never" as I always had it with Mavericks.
These problems occurred after shutting down my Mac and restarting it this morning.
I know using a VGA cable will fix it but I don't want to do that.
Sorry for sounding frustrated but I'm not alone. So many people are having the same issue
of HDMI video blanking out while in the OS.
I love the look of Yosemite but wish I was back with Mavericks 10.9.5 where everything worked
flawlessly and I really mean flawlessly. It was magical. Not a single problem.
I guess we have to wait for 10.10.2 or 10.10.3.
I don't want to go back to Mavericks but if my screen keeps blanking out then my computer is of
no use for work or multimedia.
    I'm sorry about the rant.
If anyone has figured out a workaround until Apple can issue another point release, please let me know.
I already tried resetting the SMC and NVRAM several times to no avail.
    Thanks in advance.
    I appreciate any help.

  • Mac Mini HDMI - HDMI TV: Unsupported Signal

I have had my Mac Mini connected to a Toshiba TV HDMI-HDMI for many years without a problem.
I recently purchased a Sony Bravia TV and connected my Mac Mini to this using the same HDMI cable
Initially I had no problems although the resolution was not as clear as I would have liked
I tried to change the resolution using the Mac Mini display properties settings
Shortly afterwards the screen went blank and the Sony Bravia displayed an error message saying "Unsupported Signal - Please Check Device Output"
Oddly, when I restart the computer the screen appears to display fine but within a few seconds the screen goes black again with the same error message displayed
I have been on the forums and have tried all sorts including restarting the mac in safe mode but to no effect (it works again briefly only to go black again)
I have also connected it back to my old tv to change the resolution and refresh rates - I have tried all of these one by one and reconnected to my new tv only to experience the same problem.
    Please help!

New here. I've just purchased 2 of the new mac minis, and 2 new LG 32" 1080p hdtvs (32LD450) for displays. They are for my new computer room for Christmas for my wife and I. But, with Best Buy's 14 day exchange policy, I hooked both of them up to see if the resolution was good, and too make sure both minis worked right. I went with the hdmi to hdmi setup, and when I turned on the minis and tvs, the page size was smaller than the screen size. I went into the preferences/display settings and 1080p was recognized. I kept this setting, and 'under scan' setting was available. I messed with that a little, but could not get it perfect. Then, I pointed my cursor over the bottom right corner drag and pull tab, and adjusted the page to full screen. The page size and resolution is perfect now. One thing, though... It seemed that whenever I switched to a different app that several times I had to adjust by the bottom right corner page pull tab to get those page sizes perfect also. But after I adjusted it one time, it was set every time when I went to that app again. I'm pretty sure that everyone who has had the page size/fitting screen issue has tried the page pull tab, but this seemed to work for me.

  • Mac Mini 2010 You tube videos stutter

    Hi Everyone,
I have just switched from windows to a Mac mini and am just wondering why when i watch a video in you tube it is jerky/stuttering. My other video files on the hard drive play fine but the web ones do not. I have tried waiting for them to fully load but it makes no difference.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Regards
    John

How much RAM do you have installed? How many apps are also open while this occurs?
I have some issues with Flash when there is not much RAM available. Flash eats RAM.

  • Can I use Mac Mini with an S-video input?

I'm considering a Mac Mini because I have a young child who is mostly blind, but is at the age where he needs to start learning to use a computer.  I want to go with Apple (I have been PC my whole life) because of the excellent VoiceOver features baked into the OS--- Windows doesn't have anything comparable.
I'd like to wire this thing up to my HDTV, because my child does have some vision and the 52" screen will actually provide useful images to him; but it's a nearly 15 year old HDTV that does not have an HDMI input, just S-Video and RCA plugs.
Is there an acceptable adapter out there that will allow me to use the Mac Mini with S-video or RCA plugs without having to buy a new 50+" TV just for the Mac Mini?

    I found this.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-PC-MAC-VGA-to-TV-Composite-S-Video-Adapter-NTSC-PAL- /260775797195
You may be able to find others by more Googling
You will also need a mini-display port to VGA adopter for the Mini. It plugs into the Thunderbolt port on the Mini

  • Mac Mini Jerky you tube videos

    Hi Everyone,
I have just switched from windows to a Mac mini and am just wondering why when i watch a video in you tube it is jerky/stuttering. My other video files on the hard drive play fine but the web ones do not. I have tried waiting for them to fully load but it makes no difference.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Regards
    John

Sorry just realised I have posted this in the prior to 2009 forum

  • Sony monitor with mac mini 1.25 - no video signaal

This is really strange. I have an old 15 inch flat panel Sony Monitor SDM-M51D
    that I know works. I have a 1.25 Mac Mini that I know works, I have a
dvi -Vga adapter that came with the mac mini. It works.
But the sony says "no signal" on this computer only.
    Ideas???
    Jim

Some of the old PPC minis had issues with some old monitors. Something to do with not enough voltage on the output, if I recall correctly. I don't know if there is any cheap fix, other than using a different monitor. You might try searching this forum and googling for your monitor model. There are several lists of monitors reported to work (or not) with the mini.
You might do better with the Digital input on this monitor, especially if you can borrow a DVI cable, or buy from a store with a good return policy.
Here is one example of a monitor list for the Mini -- DVI-connected:
