Mac mini cannot connect Onkyo TX-SR806 after Lion upgrade

Hi,
I've bought the Mini in 2011 and connect via HDMI to an Onkyo TX-SR806. The Onkyo receiver does the connection to the TV. Everything was working fine until the Lion upgrade. Then the Monitor setting for the Onkyo vanished (sound is also dead). I can connect to my Samsung TV, but the sound is poor this way. I wrote an automator script to force the System settings check, but this makes the monitor flicker and go blank again. The recent Lion upgrade with the HDMI didn't improve the situation. Does anyone know about the problem?
Ciao, Gerald

Ive got a similar issue however i can connect but can't download on AppStore and iTunes i can connect but my download screen is frozen and its forcing me to download certain titles I've already downloaded!!!!!

  • I cannot connect to the Internet after Lion upgrade

I'm having a similar problem to some other threads.  After upgrading to Lion I cannot access the Internet wirelessly through my Airport base station.  All other Macs in the house are working fine.  Per the other threads:
    - I do not have Avast installed
    - I have tried trashing the System Configuration in Preferences
    - I have tried creating new locations
    - I tried enabling "Auto Proxy Discovery" and "Automatic Proxy Configuration" in Network Preferences.
None of this has worked.  Here is the message I get in Safari:
"The operation couldn't be completed.  Operation not permitted."  (NSPOSIXErrorDomain:1)
I previously was getting a kernel panic after startup when I did the upgrade.  But I was able to narrow it down to Intego Content Barrier which I deleted.  I then reinstalled Lion and the system seems stable.  Just can't get the Internet to work.
Any other ideas or thoughts on this?
    Thanks!
    David

Don't think Airport is around in Lion
Select Advanced,  pictures are in wrong order and I was tired of fighting with it.

  • My mac mini loses connection with my receiver after turning off the receiver then back on

My Mac Mini loses connection with my Onkyo receiver NR-609 after turning off the receiver then back on.  The only way to reistablish the connection is to unplug then replug the HDMI cable to the Mac Mini.  There's no effect if I unplug then replug the HDMI to the receiver.  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.  I've searched a lot but haven't found much of anything so if this is covered elsewhere I would greatly appreciate a link.
    Thanks in advance

Hi and thanks.  I don't know about the audio prefs.  When it happens I am not able to see or hear anything from the computer until I un/re-plug the HDMI to the Mini.  I'm not sure it's changing to something else because there's nothing else connected for it to change to.  I could see that perhaps the audio will change to the Mac Mini's internal speaker.
I found out last night that if, after I lose the signal,  I use my ipad to play a video on the Mac Mini using the Remote app and home sharing the signal gets righted and I can see/hear the computer again.  It's quite an inconvenient fix though and I wish and hope someone here can help me.

  • Why my Mac Mini cannot connect to my Samsung 32" HD LCD TV?

Hi guys, I just bought a mac mini and a Samsung 32" HD LCD TV. I was trying to connect the mac mini to the TV by HDMI cable,I and set the PC as the source of the TV. but the TV cannot find signal at all. I tried both HDMI ports on the TV, the results were same. Please help me about this problem. Thanks a lot.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Please tell us about your LCD TV. What model is it? What year was it made?
The reason that I ask is because Samsung says that their TVs made before 2007 have a DVI/HDMI port that does not support computer connections.

  • Mac Mini cannot connect to wireless internet

I recently got wireless internet.  Before, the Mini worked fine connected by cable.  It has never been connected to a wireless before.  The wireless router works correctly, my $250 PC connected to it instantly.  There is a yellow light on Airport and it automatically populates an IP address, whatever that means.  I haven't installed any new software since it worked with a cable, no funky setup or third party anything- it's just a mac mini plugged into a TV I watch Netflix on and that's all.  My ISP said it's a problem with the computer, the Mac free support could not fix it.  I really don't want to pay for an extended warranty or phone support on something basic that this computer should just automatically do.  I haven't tried typing in a manual IP address- I don't know what that address would be.  If all else fails, I will just run a cable to it again.

Followup- I just met a computer technician who fixes problems like these for a living.  He was in my home and took a thorough look at my setup.  He said, due to this computer's design, it will never be able to read the signal that my netgear wireless is putting out- they are not compatible.  So this would require a different modem at the very least.  He said a Mac laptop would probably work fine, but not the Mini- wireless connectivity is an afterthought of the design in these according to him, whereas it is integral in PC design.  But Apple Support does not want to admit this so they say it is a problem with the network.

  • Mac Mini (Mid-2011 Core i7) Slow after Yosemite Upgrade

I've searched the other "slow after Yosemite upgrade" threads but those seem to relate to Core Duo 2 machines with less RAM.  I have a Core i7 MM w/ 8GB of RAM, after the Yosemite upgrade it constantly lags, I can barely type on it these days because the text lags so badly.  It's unusable to say the least.  Is there anything I can do to speed it up?  There must be a reason why the performance is so bad.

Yeah, I was having the same issue with Lion until I tried this
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1170
Basically, my drive's name was exactly 27 characters. I made it shorter and it seems to now work without issue under Lion. It is odd that it worked fine under SL, but this seems to fix the issue.

  • IPhoto won't connect to my cameras after Lion upgrade

After upgrading to Lion and iPhoto 11, none of my cameras are recognized by iPhoto and don't automatically open when connected.  Need help!

    No.
The problem seems that the cameras are not recognized on the USB port at all.  I have three cameras that worked immediately before I upgraded to Lion and now none work  -- meaning when I plug them into the USB port iPhoto does not recognize them.

  • "Connect to Server" SLOOOOW after Lion upgrade?

As the title says, since my Lion update it now takes up to 30 seconds to mount/connect to my local server (no changes to the server), whereas when my machines were running Tiger (2004 G5) and Snow Leopard (2011 MacBook Pro), it was a near instananeous connection.
    What gives? Any tips??
    Thanks!

I don't know what the ISP would have to do with it...
    1. The initial connection lag was with local network access.
    and
2, The problem only surfaced the minute I upgraded to Lion OS. Two different earlier OS's were fine. And a third user, likely running Snow Leopard reported no problems accessing the server over the internet (from a different ISP).
Seems pretty clear it's a Lion issue to me... somehow requiring IPv6 to do it's thang.
PS. I didn't mention this before, and I don't know what it has do with anything, but the server is an old G4 unit running Leopard.
At any rate, I woke up the computer this morning and was able to connect to the server instantly. So far so good...

Mac mini cannot dect View Sonic VX1035wm display with Thunderbolt port-to-DVI-D interface.

    Hi warlotte,
Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
If you have an Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter, it can be used with the Thunderbolt port on your Mac to connect an external display.
For more information, see this Frequently Asked Questions document:
Apple Mini DisplayPort adapters: Frequently asked questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
Some Apple computer have a Thunderbolt port instead of a Mini DisplayPort. Computers with a Thunderbolt port will have the following symbol next a port although the port physically appears the same as a Mini DisplayPort:
    Thunderbolt ports:
Are compatible with all of the Mini DisplayPort adapters referenced below in question 5 and with Apple Mini DisplayPort equipped displays.
Note that "question 5" mentioned refers to section 5 of the above FAQ, which has a list of Mini DisplayPort adapters that are available from Apple.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

  • Can mac mini work connected to imac desktop

can mac mini work connected to imac desktop. I know its silly question but can i make the mac mini main operating system on my imac after transferring all of my itunes etc?

    What is Target Display mode?
But only 27" iMac (Late 2009 or Mid 2010) can do this.
Since you mentioned an Early 2009 iMac I assume that it is a 24" iMac which sadly has not this capability.
If I am correct, you might wanna have a look at ScreenRecycler http://www.screenrecycler.com/ScreenRecycler.html

After doing a reinstall of Lion a few weeks ago, I found that my computer suddenly would reject every VeriSign certificate that it encountered. Using Chrome, that meant that I couldn’t even access Twitter.com, because it thought that the certificate was wrong. I couldn’t login to the Apple developer portal, I couldn’t authenticate a device with XCode, I couldn’t make a purchase at Apple.com, I couldn’t download updates from the Mac App Store, and I couldn’t login to Mint.com, among other sites. I essentially couldn’t do anything that used a VeriSign certificate for SSL.
What did I do? I called my trusty AppleCare advisor, hoping for an answer. I thought that maybe they could help me figure it out. After getting to senior support, I was told to reinstall Lion, which I did to no avail. My case was then forwarded to the Apple engineering team, with 3 to 5 days to wait until I had an answer. I looked around, through my console logs and through Keychain access, and finally came up with an answer, and a solution to my problems.
It turned out that my solution was pretty simple. I had to delete a few files and reset one to its default setting.
Delete the files /var/db/crls/crlcache.db and /var/db/crls/ocspcache.db. These can be found using Finder’s Go >; Go To Folder menu (Cmd + Shift + G). This resets the cache of accepted certificates in the system. It doesn’t remove them, it just forces the system to rebuild the caches upon restart.
Open Keychain Access (/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access). Select Certificates in the Category picker on the left side. In the search bar, type in the word Class. Look through that list, and find any certificates that have a blue + symbol over their icon. These are the ones you need to modify.
Select one that has a blue +, and hit Command + I. Click the disclosure triangle beside the “Trust” list to show the list of permissions. Now, what we need to do is to set this certificate to use the system defaults. However, for some reason, when you select it, it doesn’t save. So what you need to do is this. Under “Trust”, where it says “Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)”, change the dropdown menu to say “No Value Specified”. Then, close the window. It will ask for your administrator permissions. Then, open the info pane for that certificate again. Under “Trust” again, now set the dropdown that says “When using this certificate:” to say “Use System Defaults”. You can then close out of the info pane, and enter your password again. Do this for any of the certificates that have a blue + on their icon. There should only be one or two at most.
    Restart your system.
This solution seemed to work just fine for me. All of my certificate problems have been fixed. It must be something with the OSX installer that causes this certificate issue. I’ll file a bug report. Hopefully someone looks into it and fixes the flaw in the OS. And, I hope that this fixed the flaw for you.
Addendum – a note on security:
This procedure won’t affect the security of your Mac. I’ve had some questions come in about that, and if anything, it makes it more secure because then sites that require SSL certificates can actually use them, unlike before where they might default to non secure connections because the certificate was bad.

  • I intend to purchase a Mac Mini and connect to a regular (not smart) flat screen TV and use such as monitor. Can this setup also allow access to Netflix or Apple movies or an Apple TV is also required?

I intend to purchase a Mac Mini and connect to a regular (not Smart) flat screen TV that will be as such a large monitor. With this setup do I require an additional Apple TV to watch programs from Netflix, Apple Store movies, Y-tube etc?

You can view NetFlix and YouTube via their websites on a Mac computer. You can purchase/play iTunes movies and other thing via iTunes on the Mac.
