Mac Mini Desktopo Dock!!?? Help

Sorry, but i delete the link to "desktop" from the mac mini dock!? Can someone help me to put it again in the dock?

Thanks for the "lighting mcqueen" answer and sorry from now for my english.
I'm a new mac user (but i'm an expert windows user) and i tried, some weeks ago, to drag the desktop link from the finder to the dock! I know it's unbelievable but i delete also this second link and now i don't know where i can find the original desktop file to put it again in the dock and in the finder.
In italian we say that i'm a very "pippa" (bad user) on mac!!

  • My Left-click on mouse is not working on mac os 10.8.2 mac mini. Please help ?

Thank you for reading and helping out !
All of a sudden, my left click on microsoft optical mouse stopped working. Then it worked for sometime then permanently stopped working after an hour. (its been 24 hours now). It was working fine before.
Here is what I have tried so far.
Tried Replacement optical mouse, which was not detected.  so can't even use a replacement mouse.. it only seems to recognize original mouse and respond to it only.
I have turned Bluetooth off so that shouldn't be a cause.
unplugged keyboard  and still left click on mouse not working.
unplugged computer and all cables for more than 6 hours.. still not working...
couldn't zap pram (for some reason being a microsoft keyboard ?? would you have proper instructions on how to to do this in windows keyboard??? )
My Specs: mac mini 10.8.2 with microsoft ergnomic keyboard and basic microsoft optical mouse.
i appreciate any help you would provide to get this solved!

  • Having trouble using a Samsung LCD HDTV with my new mac mini...help?!

I have a brand new mac mini running snow leopard. I am trying to use a samsung HDTV (1080i). I've got the display connected and it is working but the font on the windows is not very crisp at all...it is actually hard to read. I've adjusted the resolution in my settings to all the different options. When I use the 720p option the font gets a little better but the windows are HUGE, when I use 1080i the windows shrink to the correct size but the font gets worse. Anyone have any ideas?

Be sure to designate the HDMI input on the Samsung TV as a 'computer' source. This seems to help how it presents the image on the TV. The other thing to adjust is the font smoothing settings, via System Preferences > Appearance.

    Ray Land

    Hi Ray Land,
We can help narrow down the cause.  What operating system are you using on your new Mac Mini?
If you are running the Mountain Lion OS, you can download the latest driver here.  An important note is that the current print queue must be deleted before installing the new driver.  This will ensure proper communication.
If this doesn't work or you need further assistance, please contact us here.

  • New Mac Mini Tiscali Router HELP!!!

    Hi
My Dad has just bought his first Mac - a Mac Mini, presumably running Tiger. He is with Tiscali and had a USB modem (Sagem), but went to buy an ethernet adaptor today and the guy in the shop told him it was an old modem and sold him this new Router - an Edimax AR-7084gA. Consequently, any support I could find for Tiscali is now now good as it was concerning the Sagem modem. My Dad's getting very frustrated and I've tried to get him connected, but I'm doing it by phone as he lives miles away and I'm at work and I'm about to cry!!! I feel somewhat responsible as I told him to buy a Mac!
Please can someone tell me what to tell him to do over the phone - even the most obvious stuff. In the Network bit, he's selected the 'Built in Ethernet' option and in TCP/IP he's selected the Using DHCP etc and all the IP addresses and router things have come up, but he can't get any further. Are we doing something really stupid? Do we have to put in phone numbers or anything? The install disc for the router doesn't seem to work but I don't think he needs to do that anyway, as it's obviously seeing the router. It's really hard for me because I'm using an older OS than him and my windows don't come up with the same things.
I've used Macs for years and have set them all up in our office, but it's always been really easy.
Please, please help - no matter how obvious you think you're being, I'm sure it will help.

I would support the move away from the USB modem, but the new one needs some setting up. I just checked and you might like to look at this page, if you have not already done so.
I am pretty certain that all of these modem/routers have a configuration page hard wired into the device and this needs to be accessed using a browser. It may also be a good idea to try with an Ethernet cable before the WiFi as this is one element out of the equation.
Check with the manual, but the access to the configuration page is probably either at 10.0.0.2 (that is all that you need to put in the browser URL space) or at a number beginning with 192..
The 10 series or the 192 series are healthy: you are on the way. A series beginning 168 means that the IP number is self-assigned.
What you have here, "Built in Ethernet' option and in TCP/IP he's selected the Using DHCP etc and all the IP addresses and router things have come up, but he can't get any further" is right.
But it may be that he is not connected to the system without account details being entered: the method may depend on the particular IP.
You may also need DNS numbers for his connection.

  • Every time I mount my Seagate external my Mac Mini restarts. Help?

I  use my external going back and forth between my PC and Mac Mini. Everytime I try and plug it into my Mac Mini it just keeps restarting the Mac. Help?!?

It's not a good idea to share the EHD with a PC and Mac, I'd recommend getting seperate EHD for the Mac and formatting it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

  • I am very new to Mac Mini and need help transferring files to thumb drive

I want to transfer the Mac Mini user guide (manual) to my thumb drive but do not find how to do it.  Help, please!

The thumb drive is on the desktop.  This is the most embarrassing question I have had to ask in public in a long time, but, how do you drag something.  When I try by holding down my mouse on the file name I want to move it doesn't drag it just gives me several other options.  I left Microsoft for this and I know nothing about Apple computers except for my iPad.

  • Mac Mini Ram Upgrade Help!

    Hey Apple Users
Just bought my first Mac computer about 7 months ago, The minimac. Now this little monster is fast still for only 1gb of ram, and i'm running all high end Adobe softwear that requires 2 gb or more on regular computers, but she started to lag alittle using Adobe Premiere Pro cs4, so i decided to buy 4 gb of ram from ebay(brand New). I got the ram took my mini apart, did everything proper, destaticed myself etc and installed the 2 ram chips. after i went to boot up I got 1 Beep and a light every 10 secs maybe? So first thing i thought the ram was defective, So i tested the ram with my 1 gb in one slot and a 2 gb in the other and she booted fine and showed 3 gb ram. I tested the other 2 gb as well and worked fine. Don't understand why they wouldn't work together. So i said *** i'll just use 3gb instead and have a back up if the other 2 gb fails. Now after 2 hours of using my computer she froze solid, so i restarted and then i got a grey screen, 3 lights/3beeps. This means ram not recongized as far as i'v learned I may be wrong, so now i'm back with just my 1 gb in my comp running fine. Any ideas what could be the problem here?

  • Mac Mini Sleep problem - help!

I have a new Mac Mini 1.83 and a new Envision 22" LCD monitor and when I put the Mac Mini to sleep and click on the keyboard, the MacMini comes out of sleep but the display screen stays black. If I manually set the computer to sleep a second time and take it out of sleep a second time by clicking on the keyboard, then the display works properly. But I have to put it to sleep and make it come out of sleep TWICE before the Envision display works properly. Any ideas about this problem?

I have that problem since Quicktime 7.1.6 update (or the Airport Update, can't say).
When rebooting the display stays dark, but everything comes up fine. When I put in the Installation CD, the display turns on.
    (DVI-FullHD, as before).
But after the "blank" screensaver gets activated, the display doesn't turn on again, not even using the CD.
(Although everything else still runs fine.)

  • New mac mini user needs help with games!!!!

We have a mac mini with osx 10.4.5 we have some older games that are compatible with Mac and say for 7.5 or higher but when we try to play them it says not supported on this system. Can any one help us out?
    Thanks!!!!

Is it an Intel Mini, or a G4 ??
Mac OS X is completely different from OS 9 and the previous versions of the Mac OS. While OS 9 can run OS 7 apps, OS X will not. However, you can install a copy of OS 9 on your drive, and although you cannot boot directly in OS 9, you can run OS 9 apps from within OS X through an application called Classic. That is, assuming your have a PowerPC Mini, as new Macintels don't support Classic anymore.

  • I don't understand how much memory a mac mini has please help!

I feel really stupid asking this, but I can't understand how much memory a Mac Mini has...
    512MB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300), supports up to 2GB
    I hope that doesn't mean it only holds 2GB...but I don't know.
PLEASE HELP ME! I need to get a Mac soon before my PC dies again.
    Mac Mini

    Hi opera_rocker
I think that you may have found yourself in a little bit of a pickle regarding technical hardware terms, so I'll try and clear things up for you.
The Mac Mini comes as standard with 512MB of RAM (Read Only Memory). RAM is a little stick that is built into the computer that supplies the software with all the virtual memory that it needs to accomplish tasks. The more RAM that you have in your computer, the faster software will run, and the more things you can have going on at the same time. You never actualy use RAM for personal files and folders. The Mac Mini will accept a total of 2GB of RAM, which comes as an optional upgrade from Apple, however, 1GB is more than adequate.
All of your files and folders are kept on your hard drive, like that in your 30GB iPod. Everything that you use on your computer, whether it be Word Processing software, or Games for example, are stored on the hard drive. The Mac Mini can come with either a 60GB, or 80GB Hard Drive depending on which model you decide to buy. That's plenty more space than you have on your actual iPod and you will most probably never seem to run out of room!
Hope that I may have been of help!

  • Selling my mac mini and need help

I know this question has been asked over and over but im selling my mac mini and have a couple of questions
How do i remove my changes and default to startup settings for new onwer i do not have a DVD/CD drive
My mac was purchased in May of this year .
also will it default to mountain loin 10.8 i installed in July ?

If your mac mini came with lion, the installer should be in launchpad.  There are many tutorials online on how to how make a bootable usb or dvd from this file.
    1. Backup your important files.
    2. Boot into the usb or dvd.
    3. There will be a screen where it asks you to choose a disk, and there should be an option to open disk utility (maybe in the top taskbar)
    4. Format the hard drive.
    5. Install Lion.
    6. When the buyer turns the mac on, they will get a screen where they get to set up their new mac
    Hope this helps.

  • Networking x2 G5's, x1 Mac Mini & x1 G4 - HELP!!!

    Hi Everyone,
I've come across a little problem whilst trying to network up my macs. Ok this is what I basically want to do...I want to use the Mac Mini as a 'server' and the rest of my macs as seperate design machines. This is how I want to do it...
    G5 PowerMac (OS X 10.4) >
    G5 PowerMac (OS X 10.4) > Mac Mini (OS X 10.4) | SERVER |
    G4 PowerMac (OS9) >
I've been trying to connect them but all I can access is 'drop boxes' which isn't what I require - I need to be able to see the desktop etc. Does anyone know how I can do this?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    aagh!
I know where you're coming from. Can be a bit frustrating when things do not go as one would expect.
    Let me suggest an idea.
Let's turn off each computer's Personal File Sharing service.
Then shut down all the machines.
Then pick two machines to boot up. One will be the client the other will be the server. Turn on Personal File Sharing in those two machines. And let's get two machines to network successfully.
Remember, when you open a Finder window and click on the Network icon you are acting as a client looking for a server. I say that just to impress what we are doing with the computer when we are doing this process. I'm an audio guy and in audio it's all about signal flow but it's not so far different with this process. It's a workflow thing. Establish certain positives and then move on and expand.
If you are successful with the two computers then I would boot up the third computer, turn on its Personal File Sharing and try to network with the same server with which the original client computer is networking.
Building your network one computer at a time.
As for, the not mounting the Desktop issue; what I see happening on my machines is this; when I connect to my other machine I get the password dialog box, succeeding that I am offered the volumes available to mount. My computer displays the Macintosh HD for the serving computer and the user volume, in my case, michaelpannone.
I'll select my user volume, michaelpannone. That establishes itself in my client computer Finder Pane with a purple orb as its icon. I click on it and in the next column I am presented with a list of all the folders contained in that volume.
All of the folders are available to me. Now I just went into the Documents folder on the server computer, right clicked on the folder, clicked Get Info, and changed the owners permissions to No Access. When I try to open the folder on either computer I am presented with the dialog, -The folder "Documents" could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges.-
Be sure all your permissions are Read and Write in those folders you want to access. Be sure you are the Owner in all the folders you want to access. I just looked in the Owner sub menu and I was surprised to see the many objects that could be set there. Double check this stuff.
And again do this interrogation one machine at a time and build your network one machine at a time. I hope you make some progress on this because these Macs seem to network quite easily. There has to be some config that just is not exactly as it should be. Good luck my friend.

  • Mac Mini/Windows 8 - HELP!!!

Hi everybody! Have a question about Mac Mini. If I buy Mac Mini is it possible to use it with my Samsung All-in-One computer running on Windows 8 software? What I want? Everything is SIMPLE, I want to use as my WINDOWS 8 so as MAC OS X! Thanks !

Your Samsung all-in-one can be used together with a Mac via cabled network or WiFi. OS X is able to share data via the SMB protocol which is native to the PC running Windows 8.
Keep in mind that programs bought for PC won't be able to work on OS X, unless you use virtualization software like Parallels, VMWare or VirtualBox.
